**Redwall Library **
Oz went ahead and did the novice class today since Sister Rain had to deal with something,he stopped a couple times and then went ahead and finished the class and just leaned back in the soft chair up here to sort of rest. He usual gets tea right now, well he will be a little late for tea today
Or maybe not. The door opens and behind a trolley laden with tea things and Healer supplies comes bustling in Angela. "There y'are, Oz. Been lookin' all o'er for ye." Stopping the trolley near the badger and glaring murderously at the librarian (who wisely hides), the old mouse picks her staff up from the top of the trolley and hobbles over to check the badger's pulse, if he lets her. "'Ow're y'feelin' right now?"
Oz frowns, great he has been found and his prize seems to be a checkup, joy..he so wanted to avoid it and just say he is fine and dandy, but the pulse proves that wrong as she seems to of somehow sneaked up on him..how?..Well he was in pain and yes he was gonna go to the infirm, well maybe, it was easing a little now. His breathing seems...so so right now, it could be better other wise its fine.
Angela will never reveal her Healer's secrets about how she manages to sneak up on her patients. It's the only way to get them to cooperate, sometimes. "Please answer me with the truth, Oz. Right now." She's frowning as she notes his pulse rate, and now she goes to listen to his heart and breathing. "If y'don't, I'll just assume y'cant an' 'ave my nice otter assistants come an' take y'to the Infirm. Wouldn't /that/ be fun?" Sarcasm is one of her superpowers, obviously.
Oz chuckles a little and takes a slightly deep breath and coughs "No..infirm...not as bad as it..it was ealier."He lets it go at that for now as he coughs a little again and frowns.
Angela's scowl is so dark, the librarian locks herself in the bookbinding room. "Better than earlier? Y'little nincompoop, did y'actually teach an entire lesson through....whatever in the world is going wrong with you??" Still frowning feircely, she starts mixing him up that special tea, mixed with mint and honey to try and make it less terrible. "Beasts....never listenin' to us 'Ealers an' takin' care o' themselves....when I was younger I thought, oh, surely beasts will come t'their senses as I get older. But nooooo, beasts are still as foolish as ever, even the older ones...." she keeps chunnering to herself as she hands the badger his tea and checks a couple of other things on the trolley.
Oz takes a deep, clearly painful breath" I..had a lesson to teach and no one else seemed interested." He frowns as he coughs a little and clears his throat and then he has the tea in his paws, but doesn't sip it right away he just takes a couple calming breaths, then a very small sip.
Angela just lets him take his time, knowing he is taking his tea medicine stuff very seriously. "I'll needta make sure to 'ave a word with those 'ooligans later. If an Elder 'ere in the Abbey asks for 'elp, they REALLY ought to cooperate!!" She pulls out her lamp and herb bowl thing she used in his room the other day and sets the whole shibang up, lighting the lamp, setting up the tea to boil and make its healing steam, and all that stuff. "The laziness o' some o' these young creatures t'day!!" The old Healer chunners on, obviously upset with the world in general right now.
Oz just listens and sips his tea a little, another frown and he is quiet for now, it most likely be a good idea for anyone to..avoid the library right now, least for now.
As the stuff on the lamp starts to steam, Angela goes to check the badger's breathing again. "Are y'startin' t'feel any better? Y'really need t'put y'foot down next time and order somebeast to take over for ya. Y'know the beasts 'ere, y'know who likes the Dibbuns an' who really doesn't! Y'know who would be best t'take over for ye! Y'need t'stand up f'r yerself more, Oz...."
Oz is listening, he is, and sighs as he isn't the kind that orders around others and never really was as it takes a lot to anger the badger..he likely could of found someone else to do this class but at the start he was feeling ok, it happen sort of past the half way point and he just went on and finished."Tis...fine..."He says softly finally as he breaths in some of the steam"Hurts still, but less now.."He clears his throat and coughs seemly maybe wanting to say something else but decides not to."As...for take over...got someone if that's wot..mean"
Angela's scowl deepens again. "No, I didn't mean Krisha. I meant somebeast to take yer place teachin' a class when y'need it." She reaches for a bowl of soup, but instead of grabbing it drops her staff on the floor. A few choice words come out of her mouth, which should make the badger quite glad that none of his Dibbuns are in here, and after handing the badger the bowl of soup (which is basically just broth), she leans on the edge of his chair and slowly bends down to get her staff. "That soup 'as some medicine in it, but 'tis okay if ye're not 'ungry. Take y'time with it."
Oz would say watch your words but he decides not to as Angela doesn't need new reasons to yell, but he does ask "You...ok?" He frowns as he sips his tea, he will slowly eat a few bites of soup "I..I might....just not do this class.....maybe Brother Rick can do it starting tomorrow"He coughs a little and frowns "Well least....."He stops and just finishes his tea mid sentence
Angela finally manages to get her staff and stands back up with a couple more swear words. Being old is not for the faint of heart. "I'm 'avin' to deal with th' prissiest little brat of an Order Sister who thinks she knows more 'bout 'Ealin' than me, a mouse old enough t'be 'er great-great-grandmother! I'm 'bout ready to tan her sassy little 'ide." Looking sharply at the badger, she waits until he's finished his tea and asks, "Least wot? If y'need to wait a few minutes t'tell me, that's fine, but I'd like t'know what ye're meanin', Oz."
Oz speaks softly "You...know a great deal, a lot more than beasts here do I would say, you could even teach some herbal classes....maybe"He takes a couple spoonfuls of the broth and sighs, "No..."He frowns, fine.."Not tasting...blood...I was maybe a moment or..or two" He dislikes this broth but maybe it will help, he snorts and just, he drinks the dumb broth slowly and sits the bowl down. He seems to be breathing better now and his breathing and pulse is better than it was.
Angela refills the badger's tea cup with regular mint tea. "D'y'take honey in y'mint tea, Oz?" The little lamp contraption is making plenty of healing steam, and it smells like she may have added some rose petals to it. "'Ow often d'y'taste blood when y'cough?" This sounds like it's absolutely getting worse, and there's not much she can do about it. "Oh, I'm not sure I c'n teach a class...." she mutters, blushing slightly even though she's scowling.
Oz says, "Just..one other time, maybe 3-4 weeks ago, usually no blood its probably nothing to worry on and ...honey is fine in tea"
Angela puts honey in the tea and shakes her head. "Oz, when a beast tastes blood when they cough, 'tis always somethin' to worry over. An' when the beast is in a condition like yers....'tis vital for us 'Ealers to know." She hands him the tea. "All knowledge is important, even when at the time it doesn't seem t' be. Even th' simplest an' smallest facts c'n 'elp us 'elp others." She gets some tea for herself and sits down in a nearby chair. "One time when I was quite young, prob'ly no older than DoraRose, I noticed a young fox, about 2 or 3 seasons old, was always clutchin' a purple toy snake. 'Er mother had gotten sick after deliverin', so she and 'er 2 little ones were stayin' in the Infirmary I was workin' in. Turns out they 'ad a sickness, and one day the little maid was weepin' an' wailin' in 'er fever. Wouldn't calm down until I placed 'er snake in 'er arms. I made sure the other 'Ealers knew." The old mouse pauses, staring at nothing as she relives the past. "I made sure she was buried with 'er snake, just in case 'er ghost came back. I didn't want 'er t'be alone." Sighing, the Healer shakes her head. "Even the smallest facts are vitally important, Oz. Don't discount anythin', or 'ide anythin' 'ealth-wise from yer 'Ealers, alright?"
Oz frowns as he just sips tea."I..take the herbal mixtures, not sure tis...healping as much, some yeah..this steam seems to help a lot"He smiles a little, showing he is feeling better right now "You know...jumping in puddles is sort of fun, the dibbuns were doing it a couple days ago"He shrugs, well thats one reason he got out of breath couple days ago then. He sighs again "I do have good days...but do get tried, sleep in sometimes lately and didn't use to before"
Sighing, Angela sips her tea. "Well, sometimes sleep is good. Just keep a watch on 'ow tired y'are at other times in the day." Smiling just the tiniest bit, she adds, "An' don't expect me t'go jumpin' in any puddles. I'll leave that t' ye an' the Dibbuns." Biting her lip, she looks at the lamp. "I could come by y'room every day or so and give ye th'steam treatement, if y'like. But ye'll need to keep drinkin' y'teas."
Oz nods "Alright.....and..I may let Krisha take over, least in the mornings and then just have the dibbuns after lunch and till bedtime...gonna have a camp out with them by the pond soon"
Nodding, Angela gets a plate of scones off the trolley and hands one to the badger now that's he's breathing better. Reward for taking his medicine, perhaps. "That sounds like an excellent plan. An' a camp out should be fun. Somethin' fer y'all t'look forward to, I think." Because she seriously thinks he isn't going to make it much longer.
Oz nods and smiles "Also..gonna see how Krisha does fully on her own..well I mean I will be there to help if needed"He takes a bit of scone and sips the tea "Should be fun...some games for the dibbuns to play..flower shaped cookies for them...and anyone else"He plans to eat a cookie trust me, a story at the fire pit and just some like tents to other sit up..and yes beasts around to keep an eye on them"
Smiling slightly, Angela takes a bite of scone, herself. "Sounds fun. I do like the cookies 'ere. May'ap I'll stop by an' do somethin' fun with the Dibbuns. I know a few crafts a young one can do with flowers and leaves. I'm sure Krisha can 'andle 'erself well."
Oz says, "I trust her and she should be...should be fine, one day she will be Badger Mother after all"
Angela nods. "I don't interact with 'er much, but from what I've seen she 'as a good 'ead on 'er shoulders an' a kind and loving 'eart. I believe she'll be fine, and will do well as Badger Mother." She pauses, then asks, "Another scone?"
Oz nods as he seems to think a moment, he seems lost in thought and then "Huh?" He tilts his head "Oh..scone right, yes please" He frowns finishing tea he has and a scone before he would have another one.
Angela gives him another scone. Hearing nothing, the librarian peeks out, then slams the door shut again when she notices that the mouse is still here. The old Healer just scowls.
Oz does take the scone but sits it down, it seems like he is also worn out and sort of just lets the scone stay in his lap as he falls asleep..the herbal mixtures and stream making him tried and yes he is just asleep as the slow rising and falling of his chest proves that and his pulse is fairly good, no dangerous level at least.
Angela does hurriedly go to check his pulse, then relaxes with a sigh as he is actually just, well, basically fine. Rising, she goes over to the bookbinding room and gently knocks on the door. When the librarian opens it, the old mouse covers her mouth and hisses, "Leave Oz be, an' keep all creatures from disturbin' 'im, or ye'll regret it f'r th' rest o' yer days. Got it??" The poor frightened librarian nods, and the Healer leaves, taking the trolley and lamp contraption with her. Oz can eat his scone later.....
