Relaxing Day Off-Redwalll Log

Who:

Oz- Badger Mother/ AKA Papa Oz

Ewan-Residental Redwall LP hare, LP Private and fighter

Jhan- Dibbun hare

Blisa- Chieftain of Ferravale

Ferdinand- body guard to Blisa

Log:

Ewan walks along the path by the pond, he had been at the abbey briefly to drop the dibbun off and then went back to the village, and after a day or so he is back as he looks around the abbey grounds.

Oz is relaxing by the pond as he is drinking his herbal tonic a little late today, then he did sleep in a little and the morning class he has seems to be someone else now, a Brother Rick in fact teaches the novice class now. Oz gets the dibbuns back after lunch.

Jhan has been a little leary of most at the abbey, he never really got a chance to be here before, jumpy around most by he does stay close to Oz, seeing Ewan though he once more goes to the hare and hugs him without warning and steps back again.

Ewan seen the younger hare coming and allows the hug and studies him, then smiles "I know why your familiar now."He glaces at Oz and leads the younger hare back to him "Hey..Oz..I found out something but I had a feeling before just he is a little different now , little taller and stuff...and that the hare he was with was not a Long Patrol hare like I wondered, he was not, just a hare cause I made it an important mission to learn all full names, ranks and jobs of the hares in the Long Patrol and it helped with names later for that memorial too and i remembered all their faces too."Yeah Ewan is good with that sort of thing, very good.

Oz waits on Ewan to finish and nods"SO the dibbun is familiar why then? Seen him before? He so far seems jumpy around too many and hasn't really spoken, cried some yes but from what can tell not speaking."

Jhan speaks in a small voice "Jhan..." He frowns and sits on the ground to pick a clover flower and look at it, "Storms are bad...I not like em'..and strangers can be..bad too" Maybe not all are, but he is being safe and not sorry here.

Ewan nods "Yes..Jhan"He smiles, then seems curious "It was..assumed he was dead or maybe ..enslaved when he was not found...just going with how many...ummm found, guess a miscount"He would ask the younger hare how but no need to cause the poor kid any trauma after all.

Oz says, "Well either way he is safe now and it seems someone took care of him these past couple seasons or so.."He hmms has it been 2 seasons since that horrible siege."

Jhan looks between them, he frowns and looks at the ground as he remembers and he shouldn't really, that day when all the vermin attacked and he bolted in the chaos and run into the old hare he was with in Mossflower Village, a hermit who learned what happen but sort of adopted Jhan as his own, till the storm a couple days ago when the old hermit died and the young hare was yet again alone and didn't know where anyone was, till he saw fellow hare Ewan and went to him and now he is at the abbey.

Ewan sits down "Maybe Jhan can stay here, I think that is good as no real way to ..well any time soon, take him to Salamandastron...it was a possible idea had we...well known he was still alive when Ciocan left to head back with the hares that went home"

Oz says, "Yes" He says quietly and smiles "It is best to keep him here now"

Ewan watches as Jhan goes back to the main building before speaking to Oz once more "So..your feeling...ok then today, your usually in the library"

Oz says, "I am ..fairly well just not felt so great in the morning, little hard to wake up is all, so Brother Rick has my novice class now""

Ewan asks, "I suppose that's good, right? And you can relax in the mornings and take back over wot ever duties ..late morning or something?"

Oz says, "After lunch..math and shapes, colors using the wooden shapes I have and I know which are what color and I use the buttons and some beads for counting and yes I know how many are in my paw at any one time""

Ewan says, "Oh"He says "Well still good and interesting...I should go, gonna go find Jhan..."

Oz nods and relaxes for about an hour.

==Hour Later==

Oz is by the pond right now, his morning class, basically a novice class, is led by Brother Rick now. Its just after lunch and he sits here by the pond sipping some mint tea listening to sounds around him and enjoying a sunny, not too hot yet, day

Blisa has decided to visit Redwall. After making a few necessary arrangements for her absence, the young cat left her village early this morning and has just arrived at what she views as her home away from home. After surrendering their weapons, Blisa dismissed all of her guards and headed off to find a certain elderly badger. Ferdinand, being quite fond of Oz himself, decided to tag along while the rest of the bodyguards did whatever they were planning on doing after they found out where they'll all be sleeping for the night before heading back home in the morning. As the duo now come up to the pond, the Chieftain of Ferravale smiles. "Hi, Papa Oz!" She jogs over to him and goes to gently give him a hug. The ferret behind her smiles, too. "Hello, Oz, good to thee you."

Oz smiles and returns the hug "Greetings..Blisa, its nice of you to visit the abbey"

Blisa looks at the badger's face. "Thanks. I heard a rumor that you're not doing too well health-wise. Are you okay? What's going on?" Ferdinand sits by the edge of the pond, calmly watching the water and listening to the conversation. The young cat goes to rest a paw on the Badger Father's shoulder, concerned.

Oz frowns a little, but only briefly and speaks after some quietness "I am....doing so so, today is a good day, last week had a semi bad day, but it's.."He shrugs "I don't know, old age may be part of it...and maybe something else"

Blisa frowns. "Are....are you gonna die?" She's an adult, she's been in so many battles, she's seen so much death in so many aspects of her life. She can handle this....sort of....right? She bites her lip, then adds, "You don't have to hide it from me, Papa Oz. I'd rather know ahead of time than find out later as a surprise."

Oz is rather glad very few is around right now and the dibbuns are elsewhere, most likely playing in the open grounds. The only ones around are Blisa, her bodyguard and Oz...and maybe a couple order beasts that are closer to the orchards, but not really in ear shot. "Well we all...do dye one day." He then sits and sips his tea he had, the rest of it as he had half down and coughs a little as he sits the mug down before speaking again finally."Yeah....Not like..this moment no, but yes..likely not gonna recover from what ever, may of not fully healed from that attack couple seasons ago..internal damage, taking a tonic which.....well helps a little and seemed to be recovering a little but, not really said much to anyone, yet"Yeah lets not make certain beasts worry and swam him with concern"But getting a little worse."

Blisa frowns more deeply and swallows. "Have...do the Healers have any idea....how soon?" She ignores his comment about how everyone does eventually die. She has experienced enough in her short life to know that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Ferdinand still says nothing, simply watching the water and listening.

Oz shakes his head "No, and ...not sure tis something one would really know.."

Blisa nods, and sits beside the badger. "I....." she can't find anything to say as a silent tear trickles down her face. Ferdinand finally says something in a quiet voice: "It'th good that you know. My couthin knew for a few weekth that the wath going to die, and we had many good talkth before the pathed on to the Dark Foretht. Knowing that one ith going to die thoon can help you thay what you have been hethitent to thay for far too long."

Oz sighs, "I..have had a good...fairly long life, and I know to let someone know if I am not feeling well or will just sit down somewhere till it passes or maybe lay down, I have passed out briefly once, but not any other time and not like I leave the abbey and no plans to leave the abbey."He coughs a little and snorts, stupid cough, "And Krisha is to ...take over, I trust her with the dibbuns , she will be fine even if she thinks she wont be"

More tears slip down Blisa's face, but she somehow manages to breathe normally so he can't hear her (yet, at least). Ferdinand glances at her, but says only, "I trutht you with that, Oz. And thank you for telling uth. We won't thare thith newth with anybeatht you don't want uth to." The cat nods and wipes her tears away. "Yeah, we'll keep your secret," she whispers.

Oz nods "Secret...some know I am not always feeling well, just not all know just how bad I feel at times. I don't need to worry..everyone, and everyone be concerned"

Blisa snorts slightly, and it sounds rather disgusting because her nose has gotten a little clogged from her tears. "Oh /course/ every beast is worried, Oz! You're important to many creatures here in Mossflower, and we have the right to be concerned! Good grief...." Ferdinand hides a smile at the Chieftain's grumpy tone.

Oz folds his arms over his chest, "Yes and..well.."He just shakes his head "I am fine, mostly just dislike the are you ok today...oh look he seems tried maybe he isn't ok..gets a bit...bit annoying"He tries to not cough but does for a few seconds and frowns as ok throat hurts a little, getting grumpy is not the best idea.

Blisa frowns. "Well, I can see that. It would drive me crazy to have beasts asking me that all day..." Then the coughing starts and her ears flatten on her head. "Um....should.....yeah, okay. Is there anything I can do to help you?" Ferdinand also looks over in concern, but lets the badger answer the question before he says anything.

Oz frowns starts to speak and coughs a little more, he holds up a paw to just hold off running off as takes a couple calming breaths, there may be some light pain but it seems to pass, "It...comes and goes...I am fine now Blisa"

Blisa was only gonna run off if he started barfing or fainted or something. "Well, okay....if you need anything, just let me know, alright? I'm more than happy to help you." Ferdinand is suspicious of the badger's reassurance that he's fine, but doesn't argue. "Do you need more tea, Oz? I can go get you thome. I'd kind of like a cup, mythelf."

Oz smiles "Tea would be nice.."He seems unsure if he is ok but no more coughing and his pain is lessening more so he assumes, right now, he is fine.

Ferdinand nods and heads to the kitchen to politely ask for some tea and snacks. Blisa scoots closer to the badger. "I wish I knew why I keep losing the beasts that are most important to me," she whispers, heaving a big sigh.

Oz goes , if he can to lay a paw on her shoulder slowly "Thats a question..a lot of beasts have, weather they are a leader or not..why did I lose this or that beast..its sad but it..happens. When I lost my mate and son it felt like my world ended then, and again when Zork died I asked..why, one never truly totally gets over a death of a loved one or friend, not sure which is worse to face really"

Blisa lets him lay his paw on her shoulder, and she picks a dandelion and gazes at its yellow fuzz as she slowly spins it in her paw as she listens. "I think they're both equally horrible."

Oz nods "Likely..I have lost friends as well...sometimes death hits painfully and sometimes..not so painfully..for example when that siege happen, I am unsure how many hares Lord Ciocan lost that day"

Blisa stares at the wall on the other side of the pond. "As a leader, I know that no matter how many or few faithful beasts you lose in battle, it haunts you for the rest of your days....and sleepless nights spent avoiding the nightmares their ghosts bring." She closes her eyes and heaves a heavy sigh.

Oz says, "The sadness...eases just not all the way."He grows quiet before going on " The abbey would let you know, I am sure...when I..."He doesn't finish, he knows there is at least one letter she will get and likely one from the abbot most likely."

Blisa sighs again and opens her green eyes. "I know it does. I just wish life didn't have to be this way...so full of partings and good-byes." Ferdinand comes back just now, bearing a tray with a teapot, 2 cups, and a bunch of scones and cookies and little sandwiches. "They gave me way more than I athked for," he comments with a chuckle. "Maybe we'll be able to thkip tea time, even," he jokes as he sets the tray down on the grass.

Oz still has his mug and thats good as two mugs for Ferd and Blisa, "It's ok..I did skip lunch" He wasn't really hungry at the time, likely will be grumbled at later for it."Tea and snacks with friends is always good"

Ferdinand pours tea for all of them and passes out some sandwiches on little plates. "Watercreth and cucumber thandwicheth. Haven't had them in ageth." Blisa smiles slightly. "I wonder how the Ferravalians would feel about us having these in the tavern...?" "Oh, and by the way, Mith Angela wantth to thee you before we leave, Blitha. Thayth you need a check up." The young cat groans. "No, whyyy? She's so crazy!" And this coming from the person who laughs maniacally the entire time she's in a battle >.>

Oz frowns"It be..best to do it or she might go to Ferravale and be grumpy, she is....a little scary when grumpy."He nibbles a sandwich and sips a little tea "Isn't Xander gonna open the tavern soon or so I heard"

Blisa scowls. "UHG, fine. But I'm going to complain the entire time." Ferdinand laughs, then makes disgusted sounds as he spills some tea on his lap. "Free advithe," he grumbles, "never laugh really hard when holding a full cup of tea." "Well, yeah," the Chieftain snarks back, missing the badger's question about the tavern and earning a glare from the ferret.

Oz chuckles and sips more tea, relaxing a little "Its....a bit nice to relax more that I usually do, I don't have my morning classes anymore just after lunch and today...guess a little more time"

Blisa grins. "Yeah....y'know, it is. Maybe I should visit Redwall more often. It /is/ pretty relaxing...." They stay with Oz until dinnertime...after which the cat visits the Infirmary to get the check-up over with. Tomorrow morning they will all head home. But for now, it's time for some relaxation. They really need it, turns out...

Oz likes the relaxing, he will take a nap and knowing his luck he gets a check up as well and though he didn't ask he ended up with the day off, but that was ok as he has earned some time to relax and chat with friends, and tomorrow back to dibbun duties or least most of the dibbun duties.
