Wasps Are Worse Than Bees-Redwall/Defenders Log

Who:

LOG:
**I got the log as the room didn't log onto the radio, My characters show up mainly at the beginning and at the end. Patch is around briefly and Oz and Gorvenalus are at the end. **

Northstar liked the outdoors, the flowers and the tiny leaves on the trees and the grasshoppers she could chase! She was still young and full of energy and giggled when she saw a bee on a flower.

“Careful Northstar and don't try and pick up a bee”Krisha said softly as they walked along.

Xander smiles, it was a good day but he still had his blade just in case, though so far he had not needed it. “The market is close now and we can get some supplies for the Defender's Base and a couple I still need at the tavern.”

Ewan was along to help as they neared the market place, he looked at a list.”I can get the spices, now some stuff can be gotten from Ferravale I think as well.”

Patch is usually not for going on this sort of trip certain things he decided it's best for him to get “ Just know, usually I don't tag along”

Northstar frowned and nodded, she was still curious of the bee and watched it fly off and followed it before stoping and looking down at a small path”Why bee go into bush?”

Krisha shrugs “I don't know dear just stay on the path please, maybe there is a flower behind the bush and there is thorn bushes off the path so please stay on the path and close. The woods are calm lately but you are not to wander off young lady”

Xander looks back at the two “She is right Northstar, I don't think any vermin are around though, so no dangers in the woods today and we are still close to the abbey.”He looks at Patch “You not seen anything out of place have you Patch?”

Ewan looks around and listens “Its mostly quiet and bees can go in bushes...well sometimes, was in a bee? There is an insect that looks like a bee but its not a bee”

Patch shakes his head “Not since Mr. Insane wanna be evil hare died, as for that cloaked beast no signs of her, I say that's a good thing.”

Northstar just giggles at the hare like that is just the funnest thing she has ever heard. She looks at Patch” His name was...Insane?”

Krisha smiles and walks closer to Xander”So..is the whole day going to be filled with you and your group getting supplies or will we still get some family time today?”

Xander smiles as he kisses her on the cheek “I promise, some family time this is just a simple supply run love not like a look for vermin or suddenly a fight, I promise.”

Ewan nods as he walks over “Simple get supplies and we have help”He points to a couple otters from the Defenders, there is also a couple squirrels and a ferret.

Patch snorts and looks to the badger cub and nods “Yep...trust me kid, the name fits”He goes on into the market, finds a couple things and looks to the others “Meet ya at the abbey.”

Keldorn smiles as he walks over” to the others. “I will make sure all goes well this day, not to fear. It is also a sunny day so no rain to ruin the day either.”

Northstar has stayed close and not looked at any more bees, she is being good and staying close to her mom and dad.

Krisha nods “Ok then, just don't take too long. Me and Northstar will find a good place to relax and wait for you to get back.”

Xander nods as he leads some off to the marketplace. He also makes sure everyone knows what to get as that will help and save time, he has some coins for getting supplies and makes sure all others have enough as well.

Ewan sighs, he has the ferret go with him and they go to get the spices needed, the spices are easy to find in the market as lucky the local spice merchant is there, so most spices are checked off, he double checks and speaks “Ok we have all but some Cloves,Thyme  and still need cinnamon but I think it's coming from a merchant coming into town so...yeah should be good in couple days then. We drop these off at the tavern and the Defenders base and then go about the rest of the day doing....ummm well..wot ever”

Northstar chases a grasshopper and picks a violet flower as she skips a little but stays close to her mother.

Krisha watches her and smiles”Lunch will be soon dear..”Its a simple lunch of some spring greens in a salad, some left over apples and pears, some rice cakes, and some simple shrimp, the non hot kind.

Xander meanwhile checks off lists and even finds something different and gets a little of the vegetable to try. He double checks things as well and smiles”Good, all good ok..ummm Keldorn you can help make sure things get to the tavern and base ok right?”

Keldorn salutes “I will do as you ask Sir Xander, the beasts and supplies will get back safe and sound and then I think I shall have the rest of the day off to fish, fishing is relaxing and I have not done it in a while”

Northstar meanwhile has wandered, slightly away but still on the edge of the clearing as she has found something new, some sort of insect or bug that sort of looks like a “Bee...” She tilts her head as she reaches to touch it only to slip on some loose rocks and tumbles into a small sort of area of thorns and old leaves and whimpers but manages to stand and get back to where she was by the edge of the clearing.

Krisha stands but then seeing her daughter come back into view she sighs in relieve “Northstar get back over here!” She calls out “Your father should, or least he better, be back soon”

Xander is on his way back, he will be a couple moments late but he will make it as promised.

Ewan is with him after a couple minutes “I say today went well, a couple things we still need are likely in Ferravale market and I know some supplies are coming from a couple other places, the merchant is due ...lets see.”He remembers, he does of course he does he is good at this “Tomorrow by noon time. Mergleton and Rupert likely will meet up with that merchant.”

Keldorn took a little longer than planed but he did want to make sure all went well after all. He was on his way to tell Xander how things went before he headed off to fish. He even had a fishing pole with him and a backpack ready for a lazy afternoon by the River Moss.

Northstar turns”Yes mom..”She says and looks at that bee she seen earlier, only it has a couple friends and it stings her, as does the other couple. Tears form as she sniffs and then starts to wail in pain slapping at them, a couple are now smashed with her paws which seem to just make others appear.

Krisha frowns as she hears the crying “Northstar?”

Xander nods as he listens, he is still alert today as dangers could show up at any time, and hearing his daughter cry and not just a got in trouble cry, he knows what a cry of pain is and tenses up a little paw on his blade.

Ewan frowns and runs ahead to see what is going on,he is a fighter if it's needed. But no vermin are in sight just a wailing dibbun and..wait what are “Ohhh that is not good...that's bad”

Keldorn blinks and rushes towards the clearing, he slows when he sees what is attacking the young badger and swings his fishing pole at them, he gets stung on his arm and speaks “Young one..follow me and we can get some distance from this enemy”

The enemy is bees that are black and yellow, or least they look like bees. They are wasps and it seems their nest was in that thorny leafy area the cub fell onto and they are very peeved their home was disturbed. Lucky it's not a large nest, but still there is likely a couple hundred here, most are just swamping and buzzing and being mad, though some are attacking not only the badger cub but now Keldorn as well.”Run young one away from this foul hearted enemy!”

Northstar wails and runs, of course these wasps give chase and so she fails to fully get away from them, some stay behind near their damaged home, others chase her and attack Keldorn as well.

Ewan frowns “Buzzing...beees...bees are bad and swamping kind should be avoided but also bees usually don't give chase too far from a hive and...wait hives are usually in a tree when in the woods those seemed to be closer to the ground..those are not bees they are wasps and wasps was worse than kills and more dangerous and get mad a lot easier.”

Xander just frowns, “Wot..wot do we do Ewan?”

Krisha frowns and already knows it's, well something bees or wasps she can't tell this far and goes forwards a little in concern and worry, she will risk getting stung to help her child!

Lucky the wasps decide to just stop following and head back to where they live. Northstar keeps running and trips over a clump of raised grass and cries as she hurts her wrist but her left arm has 5 stings and her snout has 3, her ear has a couple stings and above her right eye is swollen, one on her chin and one on her neck as she sniffs and wails, and then shivers and starts to have breathing troubles.

Xander is very worried and is soon beside Northstar and the others, he carefully checks her over “Do..do wasps leave stingers?”

Ewan frowns “They don't..I think..wasps and bees are different from one another..wasps are more likely to get mad and attack, and bees not so much...I don't know much on wasps, not read too much.”Bee he has read a lot on, oh great something he needs to learn more of and wishes he knew more of now.

Krisha frowns and is very concerned”Maybe..maybe we should leave the area, warn others to not go to the edge of this clearing unless we know someone able to get rid of those..wasps safely and take them elsewhere.”

Keldorn has some stings on his left arm and a couple on his leg, one on his nose, he frowns
“Wasps leave no stings my friend...and the small one will need aid soon.”He pulls out flint and stone and a pack of very ground up herbs from a pouch he has “Have her breath in the smoke...it will help but a healer she needs most haste.”He breaths in some himself...”Seems she has a bad reaction to wasps,..worse than myself, a lot worse....” Well that's one thing in his many pouches as he frowns but is still calm. He keeps a little of the herbal mix and hands the rest of it to Xander...”Take her..to abbey my friend..”

Northstar does sniff the herbs a little,it helps a little to where she can sort of whimper, but she still shivers and has tears in her eyes, her breathing is not the best and she has some areas swelling up now

Xander nods tries to not panic, ok he needs to get them...both to the abbey, he takes a deep breath as he picks up Northstar and takes those herbs and keeps them near Northstar's mouth and snout “Ewan..get Keldorn..let's go”He is already racing to the abbey with Northstar in his arms.

Krisha follows Xander quickly, the blanket,basket and food is forgotten, it can be replaced a life can't be replaced.

Ewan nods and looks at Keldorn, he offers to carry him as it would be faster to do so..”Walking could be bad”

Keldorn nods and agrees, he can be carried by the hare,it will be fine as he knows time is important, he is not in as bad a shape as the badger dibbun though but still, he is allergic to the wasps as well.

Northstar shivers and just every so often sniffs a little as she is carried.

Xander got to the abbey is record time and got Northstar to the infirm, made sure healer knew what happen and went to make sure Ewan got Keldron to the infirm as well.

Gorvenalus is on duty and tends to Northstar and Keldorn best he can, he does have a novice go get some help, weather it be Angela or another healer or  even both would be just great.

==== Couple Hours Later===

Northstar has herbal pastes on the swelling where she was stung, she has a fever and is unconscious for the time being.

Keldorn is staying here just as a make sure he is ok sort of thing, he got maybe 4-5 stings and not as bad a reaction, he frowns he knows the dibbbun had many more than he did.

Oz heard and has decided to let Xander and Krisha get some rest, he can stay with Northstar for the evening and even into tomorrow morning, he takes her small paw and frowns “Please...do not stay in this sleep, your much...much too young.”He sighs, worried.

Gorvenalus helps in the infirm and then sits down to do some writing as he looks over at the badgers and frowns, he cleans his glasses and then writes a little in his log book, it could well be a long night.

** I can picture Oz singing this to Northstar, its a song from an animated movie  and whats cooler is it's badgers in the animated movie ....and the sing sort of fits this too...one very young beast and one well along in age
