A Thief Is Caught and Other News-Redwall Log

Matilda frowned, her bracelet was missing and it was given to her by her mother o it was special to her, and it was missing. She had taken it off to wash dishes and now it was no where to be seen.

Gorvenalus walked over to her and smiled “Now now, no sad faces in the abbey Matilda, spring is gonna be here so and all the snow and ice will go away.”

Matilda frowned “Not why I am frowning, my bracelet, from my mother is gone and it was just beside me.”

“Something else is missing?”Came a voice, it was Abbot Benar “This missing items needs to stop. The fire poker, and my writing case I keep quills in, is gone. What else is missing?”

Gorvenalus frowns “Mainly a couple rings, bracelets of a few beasts, a necklace, a couple shiny pebbles, your writing  and quill case, the fire poker, some silverware, a small candle stand and some Rosemary that was drying out. Other than that I am not sure as some didn't say what was missing and all seem mostly small, expect maybe the fire poker, all other items could easily fit in a pocket or pouch even.”

Matilda looks around  and frowns “Has to be some sort of clue, like..footpaw prints maybe”Though a lot of them in the snow, some snow is melting a little closer to the buildings.

Benar goes to follow the Abbey Champion “You said it was just a few minutes ago, right?”

Keyne is in a tree as he watches the beasts around the abbey. And right now he also digs around in a pouch he has and just chuckles and smiles, he then focuses on other beasts.

Benar walks towards the area of the pond and shakes his head "I do not understand it Matilda,I clearly do not but I would like it to be solved soon.

The abbey champ nods"I as well Benar, I as well but there has been no clues, hmmms unless maybe it's a bird?Though the only birds around here are the sparrows and I have not seen them out much this winter, then I don't blame them it is cold to be out too much, but least it's starting to get a little warmer."

Gorvenalus says, "Well Spring will be with us in a few weeks time. We will have to think on planing for the Spring Feast and planting season as well. Checking the orchards and such as well.""

Keyne looks over and studies the beasts below, he seems to focus on the abbot or rather that colorful stole of his on his shoulders, that is fancy, and the bat must have it as his own. Not being to much of a polite beast he drops from the tree and quickly goes to try and take it off the squirrels shoulders with little warning, he isn't going to aim to harm the squirrel, just get the stole and be on his way, though a struggle could tear the stole.

A shout and then the stole is indeed grabbed, but the abbot's paw goes to hold onto to the stole and looks at the bat, a small gasp as his grip tightens on the stole "I demand you let go this instant"

Matilda is right away looking for something to distract the bat, or to make the bat let go of the stole

Gorvenalus backs away and his eyes widen,"It's a bat"The bat seems to have caused a crowd to form as they watch, a couple try and figure out what to do, one notice seems to decide to throw a rock at the bat, most likely not very wise.

Keyne doesn't want to tear the stole either but a slight tear does happen, he then goes to fly off, hopefully with the stole as he speaks "Let go go, or up up your go too!"Yeah what is the best way out of here, maybe over the pond and then over that wall!He will head that direction, if he is able to that is.

Benar dos his best to keep a good grip on the stole, he frowns as he started to let go but the grip instead tightens out of shock as he is off the ground, not too far off the ground as it's not like the bat will be able to go very high .

Matilda gasps and starts to slightly panic,"Let go.."Its unclear whom she is saying let go to at this point, she is for sure keeping the bat in her line of vision as she motions for anyone else here to back off and give her some room, just in case this gets worse, which she hopes it doesn't.

Gorvenalus does what is needed to keep others back "Ok every beast just stay back for now and let the Abbot and Champion deal with this"

Jarvis made his way to the pond, one a crowd was there as he walked over and slows. He must be a very strange sight, just some short pants and a sleeveless vest and the temperature is still fairly cold since winter has yet to go away , and snow is on the ground and ice is around, yet this otter looks like he is maybe ready for late spring or early summer.

Aqua has a short sleeved summer dress on and, well that's all her footpaws are bare as is the other otter. "What is...going on?" She is curious and blinks"A..bat?"She looks at Jarvis "Are bats good...or bad?"

Keyne makes a sort of grunting sound as he manages to get a few feet off the ground, he is stronger than he looks, and a little more into the air..and decides to give up before he crashes, he lowers the abbot and himself, though not the best choice as its onto the pond, not all the way into the middle, but 3/4 of the way to the middle."Annoying beast ya are ya are"

Most of the pond is fine to stand on, till you get further out where the ice starts to become thinner and it's been warmer in the afternoons the past couple days. The pond was checked yesterday and earlier by a lone otter who right now frowns as he pushes his way forwards"That is not a good place for them to be"He is a little panicked and for good reason, there is some very slight cracking in the ice, it's possible to get to thicker ice if one is very careful and slow.

Benar glares at the bat as he slowly stand and dusts off, "Me and you need to have some words...."It dawns on him just where he is as he frowns and takes a deep breath as he speaks "After....we get back to the shoreline of...the pond."He will move very slowly.

Matilda cups a paw over her mouth and quickly grabs a guard that starts to rush onto the ice "NO!..Any sudden weigh would be very very bad right now, no one can get on the ice..we...we"She looks around quickly "Someone get some rope now, he can tie one end to a tree and the other to a beast to go out there if needed."

Gorvenalus goes to find some rope as he calls out "Listen to the champion I will be right back!"

Jarvis frowns as he watches, a few beasts stare at him then get distracted by whats going on at the pond, some mumbles are heard. He speaks to Aqua "No clue on bats lass....we need to do something, may take a little while ta find rope"

Aqua frowns but nods "Do what love?" She is concerned and it shows, she edges a little closer to the pond.

Keyne makes a sort of annoyed grumble and stomps his footpaw...talon?" No! I don't listen to dum beasts of land , of land..."He blinks as some ice breaks and he starts to sink and quickly flaps his wings to get airborne, loses the stole in the process and watches from slightly out of reach of like, everyone right now. He seems to debate on running away or staying.

Benar moves a few feet by slowly sliding in slow motion, when the bat makes the ice crack more , on top of the wing flapping the squirrel loses his balance and falls, further cracking the ice and he is not to the shoreline, he is still a few feet from some more solid ice, though it seems falling cracked even a bit of the more solid ice. As he tries to move slowly it happens and he barely has time to react by holding his breath before going under the water.

Jarvis may not be the best swimmer, but he can sort of swim and he just sort of reacts to many gasps of shock as he races forwards , slides across the ice and dives into the water. Ok he needed a better plan as he is going to need some help himself, but the cold doesn't seem to brother him at all like it might most others. He can get a hold of the squirrel, its just the getting up to the surface that is a little tricky. He will need to work on that, but its mainly cause the webbing in feet and paws is cut badly.

Aqua still is and quickly acts as he jumps into the pond, like distributing more ice and surface water. Her first task is getting the abbot out, she knows Jarvis will be ok for a short while. She will get to surface and get them both to shore, and take a quick moment to make sure Jarvis gets back to the shoreline also before tending to the abbot. She is a healer after all.

The Champion lets out a gasp, then looks on in relief as the abbot is helped, she races over as she speaks "Go find a healer!"

Keyne starts to fly over the wall and then that stupid feeling bad cause of all this. He goes to turn around and lands a bit away from the others and wisely keeps his distance.

Benar sinks but feels someone help him back to the surface, once above water he coughs and shivers. He coughs a little more once back to the shoreline and focuses on the otter maid. For now he stays quiet, a little too cold to talk but lucky he wasn't under very long, lucky the water is not as cold as it was a couple weeks ago, it is still cold but not as cold as it could be.

Gorvenalus has the rope and as a beast mentions the Abbot feel in the pond, he panics, another mentions he is out thanks to a couple otters. He nods and rushes to get some blankets and towels and is heading to get to the abbot's side. "Need to get him into the dry blankets, anything wet off." He frowns as he looks around, its important to warm one up, though not too quickly or they could get worse.

Jarvis stays close by and speaks "Aqua be a healer, not ta worry"He walks over towards the bat and looks ready to clearly make sure it stays where it is "Ya..beast, ya best not even think on running or your gonna have beasts track ya down and make ya day very very  bad"

Aqua nods as Gorvenalus speaks and she will let him help, she speaks "Some warm tea and we can get him inside, just have every beast stay out of the way please"She doesn't know he is the abbot yet but he is still a beast that needs her help. She will let Gorvenalus carry the abbot when they go to head inside.

Keyne tenses and flops down in a sitting potion best he can "I am sorry sorry...didn't mean no harm, harm...honest."

Benar slowly warms up or least he feels better now that he is wrapped in warm blankets and has stayed conscious. He will let Jarvis and the Champion deal with the bat.

The abbey Champion makes everyone move so a path is clear, she then scans the area and sees the bat from earlier and calmly as she can walks over and folds her arms over her chest "I agree with the otter, ya move your wish you didn't bat, whats your name and why are you here?Why did you try and harm the abbot?" She is not sure he wanted to harm the squirrel, that just came out as she is clearly in a foul mood now.

Gorvenalus nods as he gently picks up the abbot and heads inside "We can go to the cavern hole for now and have him be by the fireplace"He will have someone make warm tea,that he will add a couple herbs to,not to double make sure the abbot will be ok.

Jarvis nods a hello to the hedgehog "Ello lass just helping, me name be Jarvis of Camp Willow."

Aqua nods and will let the beaver help her. She looks to the pond and goes to get the stole that was dropped, A quick glace at Jarvis, and then goes to follow the other healer to Cavern Hole.

Keyne looks between the Champion and the otter and whimpers "Was after pretty stole...i was I was...not harm meaning, harm was accident. Like prettys prettys...things to collect yes yes"

The champion just glares at the bat and takes a deep breath and exhales "Your gonna to stay somewhere and we will chat later...wait collect things, what other things?" Is he the thief?

Gorvenalus stays close to Benar, makes sure he sips the warm tea and maybe some hot soup. He also makes sure the fireplace is going well and looks to Aqua "Thank you by the way lass, you and your friend surely saved the day, it could of been a very grim day had you not been here."

Aqua nods "Your...welcome" She lays the stole where it can dry "I am Aqua, a healer that is once more in Camp Willow..after.."She smiles a little"after so...very long. Me, Jarvis and some others after..seasons.."She shakes her head, not going into details, its painful. She checks the abbot again "I am glad to help"She says quietly" Jarvis wanted to see if the abbey was...the same or different, weather it even still..stood, and it clearly dos still stand."

Jarvis is meanwhile with the champion and will help escort the bat somewhere, where ever somewhere is. He looks around as beasts clearly stare at him and he just nods and waves, yep going to get a lot of stares when it looks like your blooming ready for summer, not the end of winter as he speaks quietly "Where to lass?"

Keyne will go where ever is is put, he wont try to run, or struggle, he will be quietly and not make a fuss, and be slightly pray these beasts will go easy on him, and he will list things he took, he took a lot also, but where he keeps the stuff, well he can tell them that later.

Benar coughs a little, now warmed up and in the blankets as he has drank most of the tea and ate some soup he finally feels fine enough to speak. He isn't shivering now either, not nearly as cold, "Seasons?" He coughs a little as he speaks "The only ...otters I know of that was..lost in what would be seasons was when, when the viking attacked Camp Willow"A cough again, but other wise he is doing a lot better.

Gorvenalus stays close "Take it easy Benar.."He looks to the otter maid.."The..lost ones returned, its..what the otters called them, the lost ones. Some had hope of returns and some didn't."He smiles "Seems this is good news indeed if otters once lost have returned to camp willow"
Help if ya need help lass”

Jarvis walks into the room and looks around, he over hears the last part of what is said "Well...9 of us anyways"He says quietly.

Matilda comes in shortly “The bat for now is in the cellar, I didn't know where else to keep him, seems we found whom took the missing items it's just getting him to tell us where the missing items are”

Jarvis grins “I can help if you need it lass.”

Aqua glaces over at the hedgehog and looks to the abbot and recorder “I will let you rest sir.”She quietly slips off outside.

Benar decides to talk later to the otters, if they are still at the abbey. He will speak to the champion later as well, but for the rest of the day he is going to rest in his room and have a half a day off.
