Something Is Missing And Winter Needs to Go Away-Redwall Log

Who:
Benar- Abbot of Redwall

Oz- Badger Mom/aka Papa Oz

Log:

Benar comes down the stairs with a frown, he looks around and approaches the fire, "Ginny, Oz, have you seen my writing case? The rose wood one with the different pens in it? It isn't on my desk."

Oz is taking some time to relax in his chair, he is listening to Sister Ginny "And I can't find it. and I looked, why would a necklace disappear" The badger shrugs "I don't know"The abbey Sister just sighs and excuses herself it is time for reading class after all, she frowns "Not see it, Sorry Abbot Benar" Oz tilts his head "Some things have went..missing the last couple weeks"

Benar frowns at the fire, "And the poker," He points at the fire stand, "I mean who would take my writing case, let alone the fire poker..." He frowns and moves toward his chair, "It is puzzling, this means someone came into my study"

Oz says, "Thats not a good thing, we might need to see if the Matilda can find out anything, it's been mostly quiet since that trouble with the vermin in Summer"

Benar says, "Yes..." He looks around and frowns, "We can ask Matilda to take a look and see if she can track anything down, my mother gave me that writing case and well who would take the fire tools from the Great Hall?"

Oz says, "I at first thought the dibbuns were up to something because my small little box of buttons and beads I use for math counting and such, were missing but a couple toys and some shiny pebble one of the dibbuns usually has , disappeared as well."He sighs as his knee is bothering a little,"Least the weather seems to be getting slightly warmer now, still cold in the mornings and evenings"

Benar says, "Yes... that is something I will be glad when the snow melts properly and things start to bloom," He shifts his chair closer to the fire, "It is still much too cold for my liking."

Oz nods "I dislike the cold as well, it always makes my knee hurt. We will need to think on planting season once Spring comes."

Benar says, "Well we can't be having your knee hurting and yes Elmef was talking to me about his planting plans"

Oz nods "And my knee will be better come spring I am sure"He clears his throat and frowns a little"Among...other things"He mutters a little."Yes planting season is important and more beats will want to be outside."

Benar says, "Indeed it'll be nice to see the gardens starting to bloom as well and the world come back to life, Winter can look beautiful but after awhile it gets so very dreary"

Oz smiles"The dibbuns did enjoy a snowball fight, though had to end it, unless they keep having one with a couple of the order beast I do not know, I had to go inside...the cold air seemed to be a bit too much for me, had to go back inside."

Benar says, "Gosh I do not think I have thrown a snowball in years now."

Oz says, "It can be fun"He chuckles a little, maybe a little too much as he coughs a couple times and shakes his head, but still a small smile" There was a dibbun vs Novice snowball fight few days...days ago."

Benar says, "I think I am too old to enjoy a good snowball fight any more," He sighs, "I am not as spry as I used to be,"
Oz frowns"Your..younger than me....surprised I even joined in, even...briefly."

Benar chuckles, "Well maybe you are more adventuresome then me, and you are a badger you make quite a large target it would be very tempting"

Oz says, "I never was..adventurous.....the only traveling ever did was from the Snowy Northlands ta here and that was to track down Maxtor, and ended up..staying"He leans back and smiles"That was a good many seasons now"

Benar smiles, "I was adventuresome when I was little, the north lands, Sampetra, the western coast, Southsward but in the end I ended up coming home and staying."

Oz says, "Never been anywhere but the abbey lately...well close by places once...twice maybe like Ferravale and Brockhall the one time."
Benar says, "Well Oz there is something to be said for staying at home and enjoying yourself."

Oz hmmms?" If its get out more...not interested, sides....too old ta do much anymore"

Benar says, "You are never too old if you put your mind to it Oz."

Oz says, "I am needed here, maybe visit Brockhall again for a dew days and I will go out once its spring and find some mint leaves for mint tea"

Benar says, "Well in the summer I am sure we could take a week off and head on over to enjoy Brockhall for a bit"

Oz shrugs "I am unsure, this winter has been extra annoying it seems, that or I am not fully recovered from what happen during the siege in Summer."

Benar says, "Well a lot happened Oz," He reaches out and places a paw on his arm, "I am sure a few more months of peace and rest will help you feel better"

Oz frowns "A ....lot did happen and it could of bee worse, I am glad things didn't get worse and hopefully peace stays a long while"
Benar says, "I am glad things did not get worse as well," He smiles, "I am also looking forward to getting the bells back up but we are waiting for warmer weather."

Oz says, "Maybe get them up in time for the Spring Feast....or before"

Benar says, "Well my hope is to get them up well before the feast. If not at least in time"

Oz nods"I am sure...some beasts will help"He frowns a little as he seems to need to get more comfortable in his chair before speaking again"Spring will be very busy"

Benar says, "Well we have a good team already so fear not there Jessica's squirrels are a god send when it comes to working on the scaffolding."

Oz says, "I would help if I could but I best not, I hope you have enough help to get the bells back up again"

Benar says, "That is ok Oz, I'd not let you help on the scaffolding even if you offered," He chuckled, "I don't think Jessica would either, she is reluctant to let me up there to look at the work and I am the Abbot. Lady takes security very seriously."

Oz says, "That is wise to be taking safety seriously and I meant help with maybe pulling the bells up into place but some others be best for that."He slowly stands laying a paw on the chair to steady himself and snorts slightly going quiet before he speaks "I will need to tend to counting class soon..not sure what to use..since beads and buttons are gone"

Benar frowns at Oz as he stands up so unsteadily, "Why don't you let me go take counting class, you rest here by the fire."

Oz doesn't answer right away, weather thinking or maybe not feeling all that well, he finally nods and sits slowly "That would be ...fine Benar, thank you...I am sure I will be fine after a nap maybe"

Benar says, "Of course, you take care my dear friend," The abbot stands up, "I will go round up the dibbuns."

Oz chuckles softly, "If they don't behave just tell them they could always have a lecture instead of a lesson."
