A Special Feast- LP LOG

Today is a day of sorrow and joy. Scheduled for in a little bit is a feast to celebrate the return and remember the loss of those who went to rescue Redwall from the grips of a villainous foe. Felicity is helping put up the last of the decorations. She is clothed in her dress uniform, her buttons and weapons freshly polished to a gleaming shine. She is fixing the last centerpiece, which is crafted from beautifully carved driftwood and knotted cords of dried seaweed, on the head table. The smells of delicious food wafts through the air as she steps back to admire her work. A few Privates and Recruits are helping, having volunteered. They're almost done hanging the last of the decorations on the walls. There are small wooden plaques on knotted seaweed ropes. Each plaque has the name of a fallen hare scorched into it. They will be given to the surviving family members at the end of the remembrance service.

Rudolfo walks in slowly and peeks inside the room. He has a small limp as his leg hurts a little but other wise he is fine He heads the rest of the way inside the room"Hey thar...lass"He glaces around and frowns a little "Remember when this room was blooming full...and loud."

Tarsa snorts as she enters, a couple hares back away from her as she goes and sits in a chair. Oddly not really in uniform and this is the first she been outside the infirm since the rescue. A healing now sort of scar is just above her left eye, barely missed it and on her snout and chin slightly to the side. Two claw marks and it seems she was fairly lucky the injury wasn't any worse. She just stays quiet and seems to wait for things to start.

Jacenta makes her way to the room and frowns, she lost her brother in the fight with that horde in Mossflower and has handled it fairly well, of course she misses him but she also knows he wouldn't want her to remain sad and depressed over it.

Hanzi is a little late, or is he late..it's not clear but at least it's a good reason as he was doing chores this time, extra chores in fact

No one is late! The feast hasn't started yet! As more hares start to trickle in, the Privates, Recruits, and one Corporal (Felicity) who had volunteered for decoration duty finish up the very very last of their project. The small wooden plaques, while made out of driftwood and rough around the edges, were obviously made with great care to honor the fallen hares whose names have been scorched into their surfaces. The auburn-furred hare maid turns to Rudolfo and nods. "Aye.....it's been so surreal 'avin' so few 'ares 'round the mountain. But it won't be quiet for long -- the leverets are due to arrive at any moment." She notes each hare as they come in, but for now stays where she is by the head table, talking with the buck who addressed her.

Varus comes into the room with the singular air of authority that being a Major conveyed. His gaze sweeps over the room and assembled hares, and he nods with approval.

Ciocan walks into the dinning chamber after a short while, having just a few moments to go over a couple last minute things in his quarters and now made his way here. A brief chat with the cooks and he goes to stand at his chair waiting for any chatting to come to a stop.

Rudolfo had been speaking with another private and quickly quiets down and turns his attention to the Badger Lord as he enters.

Tarsa sighs quietly, not like she is speaking and looks up when Ciocan enters the room and waits to see what is said as it looks like things are about to likely start now or very soon.

Jacenta finds a chair and folds her paws into her lap as she waits quietly. All or least most hares, that are here still, are present for the feast/ memorial service.

Hanzi quickly sits down and pays close attention to what is going on. He dusts off some ..flour? From his pants and then his attention is back to the front of the room.

Gregorian has been back and forth all day. Random projects like scorching hundreds of names in to driftwood is naturally the sort of thing he would get involved with but has resulted in a busy few days and a very reflective mood. He slips in quietly after having tidied himself up a bit in to a fresh uniform. He stops out the way to wait and take in the emptiness of the room with a quiet sigh.

Adrian steps into the room, wearing his dress uniform, which has been freshly pressed. He's quite conscious of his appearance, lately, and the young buck wants to look his best. He makes his way to a small group of Privates at the far end of the room, and makes quiet small talk with them, not yet even speaking to his father.

And so, the day has finally arrived. It is a day of both mourning and celebration, a day of commending past bravery and of looking forward to potential new beginnings. Private Montgomery had spent most of the morning holed up in his bunk room, going over some last minute preparations for his mission, but mostly just using the time to think, and ponder. There is indeed a sense of nervousness in the buck's stomach, that fluttery feeling most would refer to as 'butterflies', and so he likely would end up leaving most of the feasting to the others. Still, he feels a sense of pride in the fact that he was chosen for such an important undertaking, and he would do his best to make his superiors proud. The young buck finally arrives to the dining hall, and he had cleaned up quite nicely, all things considered. He is clad in a clean new uniform, the fabric pressed and buttons polished, ready to go. His fur is brushed and groomed instead of the usual disheveled mess it normally is, and a hopeful glint sparkles within his eyes as he slips into the room quietly. He takes his place over near a corner, trying to remain as inconspicuous as possible as he takes in the entire scene of the room.

Ciocan clears his throat for attention and once he has it he nods "Today has been set aside for a couple reasons, one to have a time of remembrance for those who have lost their lives during the mission to Mossflower"He will not say out loud any names or how many, it's known how many "A memorial was done at the Abbey of Redwall but a small few remained here and did not get a chance to say...goodbye to..remember lost loved ones, so today we can do this."He is quiet and speaks again "Also..today Private Monty and Corporal Adrian are to head out on a recruiting mission, I am not sure where they shall head, perhaps they can tell us as I believe it was left up to them where to start. But first a short few moments of silence for those lost...and afterwards perhaps others can speak a few words if they would like" He will give time for a few moments of silence and a nod if anyone has anything to say before he gets the feast started.

Before everyone settles down, a group of spruced up caretakers come in, leading all the Mountain's leverets, who have been bathed (the horror!) and given nice new clothes for the occasion. Julia, DAB Ringleader, is in a pretty dark blue dress that is trimmed with lace, and her dolly (whom she /always/ carries with her) is clothed to match! Upon seeing her older sister, the young hare starts waving frantically and calling, "Lissie!! Lissie!!" Felicity makes her way through the crowd and stoops to quiet her baby sister with a few quiet words. Then, holding her paw, the Runner helps get all the other Dibbuns to a table that has been set aside just for them (possibly so, if they start a food fight, it will be semi-contained). Once they are all seated and shushed, Felicity sits herself down with Julia in her lap, and they listen (with varying levels of attentiveness) to what the Badger Lord has to say. The Corporal stays silent, not sure if she should speak or not. So she merely focuses on helping keep the youngest members of the Mountain quiet and at least pretending to be respectful.

Rudolfo sighs quietly, he is quiet for the moment of silence, he could speak of his father but decides not to. A lot lost family as well, in fact some hares in all one family died and he knows one hare maid left due to too many memories here now.

Tarsa frowns, she was there and rather not speak of what happen, she had any speech or words at the abbey and finds no need to really repeat herself, most likely ones that stayed here would be best to speak, she is in a quiet mood today.

Varus lowers his head, and remains respectfully silent. When the leverets enter, the elder buck narrows his eyes a bit, watching them make their way to their table. He's never been the best with children, not even his own. He glances over at his son Adrian across the room, but the younger buck is looking the other way and doesn't notice.

Jacenta bows her head quietly, she was one of the few, in fact one of like 2 healers..maybe 3? That stayed behind in case they were needed. She keeps her paws folded in her lap. Maybe she will speak, maybe she will not, for now she has decided to not speak...then she was always the shy quiet one anyways, rarely doing much unless her brother, a season or two older than her, dragged her out to do stuff, then maybe she lost some shyness, but...he is gone now and never coming back and she misses him.

Hanzi frowns, speak?Stay Quiet?..he knows hardly anyone in this place and just out of respect will be quiet and listen to what others may or maybe not say. He had no family here or in the mission, his family died before he got a chance to meet the Long Patrol, but does he see them as family? Can He? He is still deciding that for himself and it could take some time to do so.

The dibbuns are what Greg is waiting near the door for as another leveret, Grace, splits off from the group with a quick call of "Da!" and skips her way over to the blacksmith. Greg's quick to smile and pick up his daughter up with a quiet "Hey dahin'" before he finds them both a seat, making sure she quiets down quickly when Ciocan starts speaking.

Adrian is giving great thought to speaking. He never said anything at Redwall, but he feels compelled to say something now. Clearing his throat, he steps away from the small group of Privates he was speaking to. "Ah, err... Ahem. I 'aven't got much ta say 'ere... I was there in Mossflowah, o' course. The battle was worse than we honestly expected. All these 'ares we lost, though... They did their duty. An' they wouldn't want us ta be mopin' around depressed about it. So, ah... Instead o' bein' sad, remembah their lives, wot. They gave their all doin' wot they needed... That's, uhhh... That's all I wanted ta say..." He looks a bit sheepish.

Monty has begun to quickly pace back and forth in the spot he is standing in, the young buck watching Ciocan intently as the badger speaks. His nervousness is apparent in both his posture and the way he moves, though he does his best to keep it from showing too much on his face. His usual nervous tics are there however, with the wringing of the paws and the scratching of the ear. His eyes shift over the others in the room, watching each individual carefully for a moment or two, before Adrian decides to speak. He pauses in his pacing to listen, his head nodding slowly in agreement with the Corporal's words. "Aye," He adds, after the other buck is finished, his voice wavering briefly. "Th'bravery of th'ones we lost will always be remembered here, an' we'll always spread their legacy and their stories to whoever enters th'Mountain in th'future to let em know how important they were an' how unwaverin' they were in their fight t'keep all beasts free." Monty looks to Ciocan, his gaze steely and determined. "Sah, I promise that I will do m'best to find th' best o'the best out there, bring em back here, an' make this Patrol th'strongest it's ever been. Y'have my word on that, sah." The buck gives Ciocan a sharp salute, before falling silent again and going back to his corner.

Ciocan nods To Adrian and Monty as they speak, a couple privates speak and he will let others speak if they feel a need to. He then speaks "Yes this is a time to remember family...friends..loved ones and to remember the good and not the bad. We...may be few in numbers now but let's not let that get us down..nor shall we make it seem like we are weak now, we are not..the Patrol ..yes will always remember those lost, we honor them today and always. Now is the also the time to be there for one another, help out one another...be a strong family more now than before and to know the Patrol shall always remain the force that protects the western shores and also protect others as well."He looks to Adrian and Monty "I wish you both good luck and tell you to be careful out there...now"He smiles "Let's start this feast and have good fellowship..food and relax today."He sits down and lifts a glass "In remembrance....and I declare this feast...started." It is still open if anyone wants to speak of course, they can.

The leverets manage to stay quiet through all the talking, although some start to cry as they remember their family members who never came back. Felicity helps the caretakers soothe and comfort these young ones, and Julia gives them hugs, trying to be like her sister, and to show her sadness and compassion, even though she's not quite sure what, exactly, is happening or why the other leverets are sad. An older leveret stands up and says, "My momma was brave, an'.....and good, an' I'll nevah, evah, evah f'rget 'er...." When he sits down, a couple other of the young ones stand and repeat similar things about their dead family members. When they're done, and the Badger Lord declares the feast started, the Corporal stays with the young ones as the caretakers go to get them plates of food. Felicity distracts the Dibbuns with questions about their families, as well as their hopes and dreams for the future. Right now, she's focusing on the little ones. No one else is receiving her attention at the moment

Rudolfo smiles "Yes...The Long Patrol is a family...now and always" He gets a drink, lifts his glass and then slowly takes a sip after others have raised their glasses.

Tarsa will quietly get herself a plate and something to drink. Ok family...one large, can she say happy family? She just snorts and stays seemly quiet today, then it's not like many talk to her unless it's important and the one whom does...seems elsewhere right now.

Jacenta gets some food and something to drink, she smiles as yes it's good to be happy and not sad as being sad just gets you and others down and she wants others to cheer up as she can image her brother, if he was here, would for sure be getting others in a brighter mood.

Varus perks his ears and watches Adrian while the younger buck speaks, and afterwards, he makes his way that direction. He needs to speak with his son before he leaves.

Hanzi stays seated, he is one of the last few to go up and get a plate and something to drink, maybe some tea if there is any tea.

Gregorian is silent throughout. He lost friends in this battle and family in others. Remembering the lost is a dangerous thing to focus, he usually tries not to but it all gets dredge up and he's still taking a moment when everyone goes for food. It's a couple of minutes before a questioning nudge from his daughter breaks him out of it and he finally moves "Come on, we'll go see yah friends" he says as he gets back up, the both of them going to join the dibbuns for some cheering up.

Adrian seems to be avoiding his father. Instead, he makes his way to Monty's corner, speaking quietly to the other buck when he gets closer. "Yer not gonna eat, mate? This'll probably be th' last good food we 'ave in awhile, wot." As if to illustrate his point, he takes a bite of a raspberry tart, mmming. "Here, try this tart!"

Monty nods to Ciocan, "Thank you, sah. We will do our best th'represent th'Patrol with pride an' dignity." As the feast is started, he proceeds to grab a plate and get some food, himself, as well as a mug of cider, but he doesn't fill up the plate nearly as much as he normally might. He finds a spot back in his corner, and he sits there, staring down at his food as the enormity of the situation seems to weigh on him. He looks up at those around him and smiles, glad to see that most seem to be enjoying themselves for the first time in a long while, before his gaze lowers again and he picks at his food with a fork. His expression is more one of concentration than sadness, however. As Adrian approaches him, he glances up in surprise, smiling at his friend. "Oh! Oh, er...hey, Adj." To his question, he sighs a little, motioning down towards his untouched plate of food. "Yeah, I know, mate, but...I dunno. I just...got a lot on m'mind is all." He eyes the tart, before looking back to Adrian. "Y'know those totally make y'fat, right?" he deadpans, raising his eyebrows before he grins.

Ciocan watches his hares and then gets his own plate of food after most of them get theirs. He also gets some ale to drink and soon sits back down. He quietly eats and if a hare comes up to him he quietly speaks with them and offers a smile. Today has been a day to relax, have a day off and he may let tomorrow be a day off as well for the hares.

And late to the feast, odd for him, is Zolomon but he did volunteer to do some sentry duty or least start some as the other sentry headed off with a couple plates of food, and some drink...as Zolomon passes them and smiles, a nod and he sighs ok it started without him as he slips in quietly and gets himself a plate, food and sits down with some privates close by.

Once the caretakers come back with their trolleys full of food for themselves and the Dibbuns, Felicity heads off to get herself some food after promising her sister that she'll be right back. Piling her plate high with all sorts of goodies, she returns, and Julia smiles big (with a mouth full of food because little kids are gross) as her sister keeps her promise. As the Runner sits down, she notices the Blacksmith coming with his daughter, and waves. She's not avoiding anyone or anything, she's just trying to make sure the DAB doesn't cause havoc -- again.

Rudolfo grins at Zolomon "Your now be known as the hare late a feast."He is joking , or is he as he chuckles and tries some pie as he smiles"Feasts are always good, we need one more often I say"

Tarsa notices Zolomon enter but just stays where she is and nibbles at a pastry, a small sip of some drink she has, she is relaxed in her own way but still somewhat alert to whats going on around her, never really a time she isn't least somewhat alert.

Jacenta smiles, then a tap on the shoulder as she sighs..seems one of the cooks burnt their paw as instead of using an oven mitt they used a paw to steady a hot tray of cookies and now the paw has a burn, lucky not a serious one but still it needs looked at and she gets up to tend to that, maybe she can get some more food afterwards.

Hanzi keeps to himself, then again no one sits by him but that's not out of place as most recruits and some privates avoid him, they have their reasons and so he stays away from them as well. He eats some pie, salad and soup and sips some cider as he looks around as hares seem to enjoy the night.

Gregorian is nearly to the dibbuns and nods in return to Felicity when the caretakers arrive with food and the momentarily quiet Grace suddenly perks up "Da! They've got food" Greg smiles faintly. It doesn't take much to distract her from the sober mood "Well go on, quick before it's all gone" Greg encourages her to run off which might be wise since dibbuns mobbing the food trolleys is a very real possibility. Greg chuckles faintly. He has no food yet but moves to sit at Felicity's table where he can keep an eye on the leverets "They'll be runnin' up the walls before long"

Varus crosses the room to the corner where his son and Monty are chatting. "Private Montgomery, Corporal Adrian..." He looms close. "I hope you lads are enjoyin' yahselves, wot?"

And the dibbuns are so so good, they are getting along and eating quiet, drinking some nice juice and smiles, till....one smashes pie in another dibbuns face so that dibbun in turn smashes a piece of cake into the other dibbuns face, and then both dibbuns glare..one grabs a fork and stab the other's ear and then the two are now rolling along the floor looking like they want to pull each others ears off their heads!!!

Adrian looks up from his plate, and oh... "Ah, err... We are, er, Fathah... I mean, Sah!" He seems a bit flustered, but he also replies to Monty, "Fat? Me? Perish th' thought, wot..." He peers back at Varus, though, and hmphs. "I don't suppose yah c'n give Mum mah regahds aftah I leave, huh?" Before the Major can reply, though, a fight breaks out among the Leverets, and his attention turns to the young hares rolling around on the floor.

The Corporal nods. "Aye, an' bouncin' off the ceilin', wot!" She smiles. "I'm Felicity. Your daughtah's adorable...." Julia peers up at the male hare, munching on her salad....then the matching sisters jump with fright as the fight breaks out. Because DABers just can't even behave for one day, can they??! "A'right, that's enough!" The Runner goes to pry the 2 apart. "I don't bloody care WHO started it, /I'm/ finishin' it, wot!" She goes to drag them from the room with the help of a Caretaker, yelling to her baby sister that she'll be back after they've delt with these 2 yahoos. Julia nods, finishes her dinner, then hides under the table to play dolls with some other female leverets, who have all decided to be nice today and not make a mess like SOME crazy furballs....

As Varus approaches them, Monty turns his attention to the older hare, giving him a salute. "Sah!" To the question, he gives a hesitant nod. "Er, yes, sah, I am...." He looks to Adrian, "I mean, we are. May not look like it, currently, but...eh...I'm jus' thinkin' about th'whole thing an' tryin' t'get m'self into th'right headspace, I guess. It'll be th'last time we see alla you fer a long while." Monty gives a hesitant smile, as he glances back down at his food. "Still tryin' t'get used to th'fact that it'll jus' be us two out there. Well, at least at first til we start runnin' into others, o'course." He shrugs his shoulders, reaching up a paw to rub his chin.

Ciocan glaces at the two younger hares fighting and frowns slightly, but as the corporeal takes the two hares off elsewhere he leans back in his chair to relax again.

Rudolfo chuckles,"Could be worse...could be a food fight wot?"

Zolomon glaces over at Tarsa briefly but stays by the privates, he smiles a little as he grins "That be a waste of good food a bally food fight would."

Tarsa frowns and this is why she doesn't like dibbuns...they do things like this. She spills her drink and doesn't notice Zolomon glace at her. She gets a little more salad and some of the soup, and a roll before sitting down again.

Hanzi blinks...well fighting at such a young age, oh well he seen a couple privates fight earlier, he smiles he for once didn't have to peel potatoes, yes he had extra chores due to other issues but not today and not yesterday.

Gregorian barely has time to get out his introduction of "Greg" before the dibbun fight breaks out and he quickly looks back "Wot?" he nearly intervenes but Felicity and the caretakers are much faster so he's left looking vaguely bemused by the aftermath. After a second of deciding what to do while he's sat alone he ultimately decides what he wants to do most is hang out with his daughter and play stupid games with dibbuns. He doesn't get huge amounts of free time while she's awake and one day she'll be old enough that she'll not want to hang out with him so he moves but only far enough to properly join the leveret group for the day.

Varus frowns sharply at the leverets' shocking display of bad behavior. "Mah word, 'ow appallin', such bloody bad behaviah, wot!" He shakes his head, and sighs, before finally replying to his son, "Aye, I'll tell yer mothah. She's not exactly pleased wi' yer goin' off for so long. She knows 'ow th' Patrol is, though... But, y'know 'ow mothahs are..."

Rudolfo watches some hares chat and chuckles. He stands and grins as he juggles 2..3..then 4 apples and smiles. He is in a good mood it seems as he tosses apples to a couple hares and sits down to have an apple himself. The rest of the night he will chat with a couple friends, tell a joke or two maybe and just...enjoy life.

Adrian nods. "Aye, Mothahs c'n be awfully sentimental, wot... Lissen, Da... Tell 'er I'll be fine, wot. I got mah best friend watchin' mah back. We'll be back 'ome safe 'n' sound before ya'll even know it. Hell, I'll even try ta write 'er sometimes, if I can. I'll find a way, eh?" He takes a long drink of ale, and sighs. "An' don't y'worry eithah..."

Monty takes a drink from his cider. "Now that y'mention it, Adj, it might be beneficial t'try an' befriend some birds out there. That way if we need t'send word back home for some reason, we'll be able to, yeah?" The buck grins. "We might end up losin' some of th'provisions in th'mean time as bribes, but hey...might be worth it, y'know?" Monty nods to Varus, "Sah, there's no need t'worry, I'll do my flippin' best t'make sure the Corporal here doesn't go wanderin' off into some bloody swamp or somethin'...." he nudges Adrian playfully with an elbow. "Scout's honor. I can't guarantee though that 'e won't end up stickin' 'is head in a beehive, though..." he winks.

Ciocan looks over at Monty and Adrian before he finishes his drink and slowly stands to walk over to them "There will be supplies ready for when you two head off, in the morning some time perhaps unless you plan to leave before then but some rest before hand would be good before a journey to..where ever you plan to go first, I trust you both have discussed this and have a good plan of action"

Tarsa decides she can speak with the two later, then again she can just let Ciocan do it, she knows she will get what ever reports to look over, if there is any to look over.

Zolomon decides he can talk with Tarsa later, he will for now enjoy good food and maybe a chat with a hare or two

Varus harrumps. He's already had an earful from his wife. Whatever he can do to placate her, though. "Me, worry? I nevah worry about anthin'," he lies, quite convincingly. Just because he doesn't see eye to eye with Adrian doesn't mean he doesn't love his son. "Monty there 'as a good idea, wot. Find yerselves some birds for messengahs..."

Adrian looks up at the Badger Lord and nods. "Ah, yes sah, I imagine it'll be first thin' tomorrah. Tonight would be too late, eh, Monty? An' wot's that about... Bee'ives, Private?"

Monty looks waaaay up at Ciocan as the Badger Lord approaches them, and he gives him a salute. "Sah, yes, sah! Thank you, sah! I believe our plan is t'leave some time before th'sun rises. That way we can at least try an' get a little bit o'shuteye before he venture out into th'unknown wilderness, sah. I've drawn up a map an' have some areas marked off where I think we might have some success, so we'll take it a day at a time, sah." The young buck smiles. "Once again, I jus' wanna thank ya for givin' us this opportunity t'help the Patrol. M'whole life revolves aroun' this place an' doin' my job, an' so anything I can do t'help, I'm more than happy t'do. I've caused enough headaches aroun' here, so I wanna do what I can to make up for alla that, y'see, sah." Monty beams as Varus compliments his idea. "See, Adj? Once in a blue moon, I DO have some pretty decent ideas, eh?" He laughs, grinning at Adrian. "Yeah. Beehives. I gotta make sure y'don't go off an' try an' look inside one, searchin' for honey!"

Ciocan nods "Alright then, right before sunrise sounds good and I am glad you two have a plan, plans are always good to have."He then goes to chat with some other hares and slowly makes his way over to Tarsa after a while.

Tarsa yawns as she is tried but comes to attention and gives a salute to the badger lord as he comes over "Sur..."She says "All seems well sur...the feast went..fairly well" One fight but otherwise it was good and hares are still having a good time chatting and eating, her on the other hand..maybe not as much fun, then she rarely has fun really or more than rare it's been a while since fun was in her life.

Varus likewise stands at attention when Ciocan approaches, though he says little as the badger chats with the two younger hares. Once he moves off, the Major turns again. "Ah, before dawn, I see. We'll 'ave some beast there ta see you two off... Mayhaps I'll be there. We shall see..." He lets it drop there, and starts to wander off to speak with some of the older hares that are closer to his age, leaving Adrian and Monty to themselves once more.

Adrian nods and salutes the Badger Lord, and can't help but blush some. This is a very important mission, after all. "Right-o, Sah! We'll do our best, wot!" After both Ciocan and his father have stepped away, the Corporal gives his friend a look. "Lookin' for 'oney? Honestly, I dunno where you get these ideas... As if I'd evah endangah mahself for food..." Hares are walking stomachs, though. "Annnnnyyyy-waaaayyyy... Is there, ah... There anybeast yer gonna make any special farewells to? Friends? Girlfriends?"

Ciocan nods "At ease....you have seemed ...how you say down during the feast, why is that?" He asks Tarsa.

Tarsa frowns "I...down sur?" She looks at the floor and back to him "I am fine sur, perhaps tried from the rescue mission" She sighs as she has that...claw mark now...well two that barely missed an eye " Maybe a day off is good?"

Ciocan folds his arms over his chest and sighs"My quarters..in the morning after breakfast" He then excuses himself and heads to his room for the night, any hare still here can of course stay and enjoy the rest of the evening.

Re: A Special Feast- LP LOG

Just an addition to the above log, after you guys left! smile

--------------------------------

Monty nods his head and gives a salute to Varus, "Yes, sah, thank you, sah, it would be muchly appreciated!" As Varus wanders off again, Monty turns back to Adrian and raises his eyebrows. "Y'gotta be kiddin' me. This is YOU we're talkin' about, mate." Monty has certainly seemed to loosen up just a tad, at least on the outside...his inner voice is still nervously pacing back and forth. To Adrian's last question, Monty merely staaaaares at him quietly, giving him the Look of Death. He finds his face getting warmer and turning about five shades of red, though he does his best to smile through it all. "Oh, er, yeah, well, I...I DO have a few friends I'd like to say goodbye to. Heh. Dunno where y'got th'whole 'girlfriend' thing from, t'be honest, I dun think there's a doe within twenty miles who'd ever wanna be anywhere near this mess..." His ear waggles, and he shakes his head with a chuckle. "Can't say I blame em, either, I'd run far away from me too if I could." He takes another sip of his cider, his gaze shifting down to its contents.

Tarsa sighs as she sits back down and just stares at what's left of her food and drink

Adrian knows Monty far too well, certainly well enough to see past his relaxed facade, and he rests his paw on the other buck's shoulder. "Hey... Yer feelin' okay, right?" His voice is soft and quiet, absent the previous jokey tone. His friend's well-being means an awful lot to the Corporal. As Monty staaaaaares hard at him, though, he grins again. "Yer words say yah've no idea wot 'm talkin' 'bout, but yer beet red face says othahwise. 'Owevah... I'll be a good mate, an' I shan't pry." He smirks, knowing full well he has a crush on a certain someone himself, so he hardly has a room to talk.

Varus wanders over toward Tarsa. "Sahgeant... Yah don't seem to be enjoyin' th' feast, wot..."

Tarsa looks at Varus, another salute as she speaks "Just, rough past couple days Major..that's all. The rescue went well...the slaver group was destroyed, a couple privates even went back to burn the place down..it's gone. There is the hamster maid still in the infirm for now, not heard how she is."

Monty glances back up again, a halfhearted smile upon his muzzle as Adrian questions his current mental well-being. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm feelin' peachy, Adj. Really. I just...I'm just thinkin' about leavin' tomorrow and it's jumblin' up my thoughts an' such. Nothin' out of the ordinary, y'know. Typical case o'butterflies, I guess..." he shrugs. His face doesn't go completely back to normal, still a bit on the crimson side as Adrian teases him. He tries to change the subject, which in reality actually brings it back to the whole reason he turned red in the first place. Yep, still a nerd. "So, er...didja SEE that flippin' display yesterday in th'tavern?" He clears his throat. "That Marri...I don't think I've ever seen fightin' like that in all my seasons, mate! She took out BOTH o'those vermin in one shot!" Monty grins wide at the memory, before shaking his head and trying to shift the enthusiasm down a couple of notches. "It was, er...pretty neat, I guess. And she liked th'drawing I did." He nods, adding that in a footnote.

Adrian chuckles, and nods. There it is. "Ah, th' lov'ly Miss Marriana! Aye, she's quite th' lookah, ain't she? An' also an *excellent* fightah! I was indeed quite impressed by 'er display..." He lightly elbows Monty's side. "If I didn't know any bettah, mate... I'd say you were smitten, wot. P'raps we c'n swing up toward Halyahd for a brief detour tomorrah so you c'n tell 'er goodbye, hmm?"

Varus nods his head. "I am glad ta hear that all went well, wot. Yah gave those bloody slavahs wot four alright. Glad ta know tha' threat is ovah for now..."

Tarsa nods "It is...one got a good...move in" She touches the claw mark, it's healing..barely missed her eye "But the vermin was taken out...a successful mission, good news for once"

Monty finds himself speaking before his brain is able to catch up, and so to Adrian's first comment, he immediately responds. "Yeah! Wait, what?" Then comes the mortified look. Why did you allow that to slip, brain??? He face-paws with a groan, grimacing as he peers at Adrian from out of the one of his eyes that is open. "What? I mean, yeah, she's...a great fighter, indeed. Will...ahem... be a...great addition...to th'Patrol, wot. Supposed t'be in my division too, I guess, which...which will make our jobs a lot easier, methinks. Major Jinora's, too." He shakes his head with a chuckle, "Um, NO. I just...I know talent when I see it is all," he shrugs. As for the detour..."I mean, I was plannin' t'swing by Halyard anyway, right? So, if she's there, she's there..." And in reality he's kind of hoping she is, though he wouldn't DARE say it in front of Adrian. "So, um, tomorrow then...wot time y'wanna get up an' head out?"

The whole time Monty is flailing to recover himself, Adrian is watching him intently with a smirk. He's already teased the Private enough, though, so at the change of subject, he mercifully let's it drop. "Hmm, may'aps an hour before dawn? I think that oughta give us enough time ta get ready before sunrise, an' we c'n be off before breakfast... I do 'ate ta miss breakfast, though, but ya gotta do wot ya gotta do, right?"

Varus frowns. "That looks serious, Sahgeant... Yah've seen a medic avout that, right?"

Tarsa nods "I did, not to worry the healers are keeping an eye on it, it...could of been a lot worse, the claws missed my eye...and the swelling has gone down some, probably gonna be in the infirm for couple more days but was able to be here at the feast"

Monty seems quite grateful for the actual subject change this time, and he nods his head in agreement. "Aye, that sounds good t'me, sah! We can go over th'items we're takin' with us tonight so that's one less thing t'have t'do in the mornin'! Speakin' o'that, I'm thinkin' we could take our leave of th'party an' start t'get things in motion, yeah?" Monty glances around the room, waving a paw. "Seems like things are quietin' down in here anyway." The buck gathers up his plate, taking it over towards the kitchen to deposit it there, before returning to Adrian. "M'gonna miss this place, y'know...." he muses.

Tarsa looks over at Adrian and Monty before it appears she is heading out of the dinning hall as well "I need to get some rest....excuse me". She then heads off.

Varus nods to the two bucks as he makes his leave as well, wordlessly exiting the room.

Adrian nods, and downs the last of his ale. "Aye, that's probably a bloomin' good idea, wot." He returns his plate as well, and sighs. "Me too, Monty, me too... An' I only just got back, too. But, a Patrollah's gotta follow ordahs, wot... We'll be back, eventually."
