Rescue Plans Part 1- Remnant and Mossflower Defender's Log

~ ~ ~ ~ ~  A group of Mossflower Defenders and a few Ferrvale Guards go to try and get the base back and free the captives,including their leader Xander Winters…things seem at first to go well…well read the log and enjoy~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Flea was ready or at least as ready as he was gonna be as he led the group to where the tunnel was, it took him a about an hour to find it, but he did find it as he carefully climbed in and almost slipped on some wet rocks as it went downwards.

Marek followed “Do be careful and quiet as we get closer.” He looked over a smaller version of the tunnel he had someone draw, “Now this tunnel purposely has a couple side tunnels that lead to nothing, one leads to a rather bad drop off, we want this one” He pointed to a tunnel heading straight towards the base or what is meant to be the base.

Ace frowned “So ya purposely made one leading to death….how nice”

Zolomon was in one of his serious moods or he would of laughed at this, he still didn’t like the dirt “This place won’t cave in…will it Mr. M?”

Minsc gives the hare a –please shut up- look as he shoves past him and looks around “Stinking evil has our base and we must rid ourselves of it most quick”

Ferro decided to avoid the tunnel and let the others handle it, he would look for any guards outside with anyone else, as he managed to slip to a back window, grabbed a rat and slit their throat and dropped the now dead rat and waited quietly in the dark, till someone got to the window from the inside to open it.

Vojin  tagged along to help where he could. He had been a Ferravale guard a few seasons now and was here in Bandits place to help, a group of three other guards, all ferrets, followed the wildcat. He keep an eye on his surroundings and knew his chieftain, Blisa, was elsewhere getting ready to fight as well.

Flea traveled the tunnel and frowned as he has forgotten just how long it was and then stopped when he seen the familiar wooden panel, “Well…here we be my friends”

Marek nods “Now in which room was Mr. Xander?”

Zolomon brushed off dirt as he whispered “I can see why Chestnut bally well disliked this tunnel”

Ace looked around as he laid a paw on his ax “So..what now, we shouldn’t just charge in there and cause an alarm”

Minsc thinks “Well someone needs to get to the back window and let our monitor friend inside, he could do some serious butt kicking”

Flea takes a deep breath and carefully pushed the board and peered inside. ”Xander is in the meeting room. Most of the vermin may be outside or main room…hallway maybe, and Texo and the other captives are in the first room in the hallway of the sleeping quarters.”

Inside is a weasel, seems to have his back turned and getting some sugar and salt and doesn’t notice the Defenders….yet, but he does slowly turn around and drops the supplies and prepares to yell out an alarm.

Zolomon quickly fires an arrow at the weasel before an alarm even leaves the weasels mouth, he grins “One less bad guy, shall we rescue Xandy”

Marek sighs quietly, but it was a good move “Good job Mr. Zolomon and yes let’s go…Mr. Minsc do get the window open for Mr. Ferro. And all of you quiet.”

Minsc nods and as he slips into the kitchens he looks around, no one and quickly goes to open the window and steps back

Ferro slides inside and nods, he has his teeth and claws as he needs nothing else, but he does have his mace anyways just because.

Vojin follows the monitor inside and looks around, “So…where?” He asks quietly.

Flea looks down a hallway and frowns, he reports “Two guards…and the meeting room is at the end of this darn hallway”

Ace also looks down the hallway as he speaks “Well, no one said this would be easy did they?”

Marek thinks quietly, “Take out the guards…free captives and get them out of here and then find Mr. Xander”

Minsc nods “If we are seen we stab the beasts.” He shows this by walking up to the two guards and smirking, stabbing and going to quietly  open the doorway.

The two guards are taken by surprise, and die rather quickly…so yeah they left the two weakest guards to guard the captives, that’s a smart move…not.

Most of the Remnant is in the main room, discussing plans and in front of them is none other than Eclipse, the raven and leader. “Now we soon proceed with part 2…” Also in the meeting room there is no guard, the badger is chained and weak most likely, he has no weapons so how would he get loose.

Vojin opens the door and makes a shhhhhhhhh motion with his finger and motions for them to follow, they can slip out the window and get away.

Texo tenses as the door opens and then gasps “Oh my word thank the seasons” He says quietly and very much so gets to the window.

There is two guards of Ferravale who seem glad to be helped to freedom as well as the squirrel Milo, who is happy to be free, but sadly reports “Seaweed…and Ottis…they are dead”

Ferro makes sure they get out and will help them back to Ferravale, someone has to correct and what better than a freaking monitor

Xander sits, chained as his arms and legs are bruised and the slash on his left check and snout is a little swollen, it missed his eye but some swelling has made the eye closed and sort of turned the area around it swollen, it should be fine long as its tended to very soon. Also since Chestnut and Flea escaped the Remnant has decided to punish him with not feeding him and offering very little water as they want him to stay alive, long enough to just be killed in front of his friends.

Flea is not about to let his leader die as he makes his way quietly to the door and opens it as slowly as he can and frowns at the sight  before him as he looks for a key.

Marek slowly walks up the hallway and looks at the main room and then to Flea as he nods that he will stand watch.

Zolomon  gasps softly when he sees Xander and frowns, he then sees the keys and quickly gets them and goes to unlock the chains.

The chains have three locks and there is three keys so it may take a little time and that meeting won’t last forever, but luckily there is a window across the hall and to the left, to the right is the door to the main room.

Ace watches the doorway and frowns “We need to do this fast sir” He says to Marek.

Vojin returns and quietly and quickly goes into the room where Xander is and helps to get the chains off as he whispers “We need to move…now friends” The two ferret stayed behind to help.

Xander opens his eyes long enough to briefly focus and then they close again, he hears them talking or least he thinks he does.

Eclipse is finishing the meeting and will be in the hallway…with a little less than two dozen beasts now, around 6 is outside on guard duty.

Marek frowns and looks in the room as he says slightly above a whsper”Move…now…window..go”

Zolomon lets the wildcat Vojin help and the two ferrets as he makes sure he has an arrow notched and ready to fire just in case.

Minsc tenses up, he is ready to fight as he speaks “We can’t leave the base in the paws of evil”

Ace frowns “We also need our leader out of here…then we can work on getting the base back”

Vojin quickly and carefully does most of the lifting and makes haste to the window, with the two ferret and the Zolomon’s help he gets the badger outside and frowns as he glances around.

Flea is still inside meanwhile, doing  a quick look in rooms to make sure no other captives are here, maybe wise and maybe not wise.

The room opens and…then it seems all heck breaks loose as the raven shoves best aside and stares at the sight before her, “Intruders….kill…kill them!!” And she sends the beasts after them.

Zolomon eeps and fire off an arrow, before  jumping and rolling out the window.

Minsc chuckles “Now we can kick some evils behind!” He goes to stab a rat in the neck and another he slices across the chest.

Ace backs into a corner and glares at a fox…a fox who then losses their head from his ax swing as he snorts “That’s what you get for cornering me!”

Marek narrows his eyes and knows when he is outnumbered, he fires his one cross bolt at whoever is closer and dives out the window.

Eclipse  screams “Follow them, get them slay them !” A tall marten gets hit with the bolt when she uses the poor creature as a shield. She is losing some of her own, about 5 died in the brief fight and yet she seems to care less, she storms into the room….seeing the badger gone she screams again and storms outside and into the air to look from above!

Flea quickly goes to follow the others, barely managing a stab to the back.

Vojin  frowns as he hears the fighting and checks the badger.

Xander is alive, but seriously needs a healer.

Ferro comes onto the pathway and quickens his pace as he sees the badger “I can get him to the abbey…you are needed go” He then goes to lift the badger, he is strong and most likely…never mind the only one who can lift him and run to the abbey.

Zolomon allows his friend to be taken, he does trust the monitor now and goes to head back to the base to help the others.

Mosely is in the area and seeing the fighting goes to get closer

Ace pants as it’s impossible to avoid fighting now.

Minsc fights off a fox, he is having some troubles, but trying his best!

Flea pants as he looks around” I need a vacation! I suddenly HATE fighting!”

Marek catches his breath and rubs his sore leg, some blood is on him but from the evil beasts he killed.

Eclipse’s  group is down from 3 dozen to just under two dozen now, 36 down to 19 now, she sees small shrew, this is his and that hare’s doing, the hare isn’t here but the shrew is as she dives at him!

Vojin goes to return to the fighting and help where he can and if the Remnant is out here, they could try and slay his chieftain and he isn’t going to let them even get a chance!

Minsc gasps and goes to try and shove the shrew out of the way of the raven, only to feel it grab him.

Zolomon comes to a stop as he yells “Minsc!!”

Marek stands and draws his blade as he hears the yell and goes to see if he can help.

Mosely goes to fly towards the raven, risky but he may get lucky.

Eclipse tightens her grip and lifts the hamster up as she looks at the others” This one will make a nice stain on the ground if you do not back off!”

Vojin hisses and his ears are laid back agapist his head.

Zolomon frowns as he would fire an arrow, but even if he killed the bird, it would fall with his friend Minsc and likely kill them both.

Mosely kaws loudly and lands, or more like tumbles and shakes his head muttering “Perfect landing” Yeah….rightttttttttttttttttttttttt.

Minsc starts to struggle and then his eyes widen at just where he is, the air…he is in the air! In a raven’s talons!

Marek narrows his eyes at the raven.

Escape chuckles “Wise choice…I say hand over chieftain Blisa and Ferravale to me by sundown tomorrow. Or the hamster falls to his death!” She flies to the top of the bell tower that’s under construction, in her eyes she may still win…so she lost the stupid Defender Base, who needs it she may end up with a whole village and maybe the base as well. Some of her followers start to surround the group of Defenders….this looks rather bad.

Vojin manages to slip away quickly to find Blisa, but not to hand her over but to report to her and Bandit the news.

Flea  slips away, barely avoiding being one of the group surrounded by the evil beasts, he follows the wildcat “Hey…wait on me!”

~ ~ ~ The beasts surrounded are Marek, Zolomon, and Ace, while  Minsc is captive in the Bell Tower with Escape keeping an eye on him. The ones that avoid capture and now seek help are Mosely, Vojin and Flea…..will this end badly? Will anyone die? What of Xander did Ferro get him to the abbey? Did the other captives get to the abbey safely? Why does the heron keep crash landing? Hopefully all the questions are answered in the next log!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
