Construction Area For Ferravale Bell Tower
Beasts are hard at work building something here that must be important. They demand that you leave the area immediately or risk injury. Uncertain as to whether said injury will be from the construction or the workers themselves, you decide to leave...immediately.
There is the bell tower, or least it soon will be a bell tower once its complete, and has a bell. So far it’s a tower of metal and some stone and brick forming the main part and its maybe 3/4 of the way completed. Speaking with some moles helping, as well as some rats and ferrets is Texo as he looks over blueprints and looks tried.
He isn't the only one.
Bandit isn't moving around so good these days. It felt like his old war wounds and new war wounds were having a contest to see which were more painful. Under his tabard a bandage was wrapped about his waist where he was stabbed in his fleshy stomach.
The obese head guard comes around the corner, snacking on an apple as he watches the construction unfold. Stepping closer to the weasel architect he declares his presence with a loud greeting, "Good morning!"
Texo turns ever so slowly to the fox, "Well hello, I am hoping all is well the construction is going good here. Just need to find a bell...well somewhere"
The fox chuckles. Stepping closer he invades Texo's personal bubble by glancing over his shoulder, "That's good. The Chieftess would hate to pay you for nothing. For your own health really... those who squander her resources tend to end up as food for her scaley pet." Ah yes, nothing heals the body faster than throwing his weight around. Bandit truly is the best head guard, ever.
Texo snorts as he looks at the blueprints and tilts his head "Scaley...a lizard or something?" Ok he has yet to hear of the snake it seems.
The fox blinks. A wide, terrible grin forms on his face. Taking a bite of the apple before he replies the fox says, "Lizard? If only! No, no. Blisa keeps a snake in the basement. She claims to only feed it cheese but there have been more than one beast who went 'missing' around the residence, usually after bringing her bad news."
Bandit takes another bite of the apple, "How IS the project coming by the way?"
Texo frowns at this but looks over the blueprints and glances at the bell tower being build "Not something that is easy to build that quickly, it takes time to make sure it’s structurally sound and in top form. That its strong in times of trouble and when we find a bell, that it holds it well and the sound of the bell is heard in the whole village. I am also working on one other project and the chief wants to try and get an Inn back into the village.
Marek makes his way into the construction site, rolled up scrolls and a set of blueprints under one arm. He walks a little slower as he is still recovering and has a cane with him. But he refuses to show weakness as he walks with a slightly noticeable limp and takes in whats going on around him before his eyes far on Bandit and Texo.
"That would be a pity, I rather like it where it is now. What we need now is a seedy tavern on the edge of town where scum and villainy like to amass." The fox finishes his apple, flicking it away from him, "And have it run by guard beasts... speaking of seedy taverns." The fox waves to Marek, "Marek! Come! Join us! We were talking about feeding workers to giant snakes!"
Texo rolls his eyes "We are not speaking of such things, why would someone want to feed beasts to snakes. I am discussing the Bell Tower and how its important. The Inn can be rebuild a little faster and maybe in the same general area, may be smaller than before but still fit a purpose." He nods to the arriving stoat.
Marek walks over to where Texo is first, "I have made some corrections on the blueprints for the Mossflower Defenders base that you can look over Mr. Texo, nothing too major. There is a couple less windows and more than one way out in case of trouble." He slowly turns to Bandit "Well I see the fat one is still Head Guard, I am surprised you have lasted this long Mr. Bandit, you must be doing fairly well."
"That's Mr. Fat One to you, oh grumpy one." The fox crosses his arms, tail twitching, "Believe me, no one is more surprised that I'm still around than myself. We can't seem to get a week before someone tries to stab me." He winces, clutching his stomach. "...Again. You know Marek, I was against your little warrior brigade in the beginning, but these days I really don't mind someone take a more 'proactive' approach to crime fighting."
Texo takes the blueprints and looks them over as he nods and mutters a yes, yeah, ok...and rolls them up." Not too much of a problem sir and not to worry the construction of the base is going well, but I must also make sure the Bell Tower building is going well, as well." He sighs, too many things at once. “Course with the bell tower we need to look into where to get a bell or whom would make one for a vermin village and not just a normal one but one that has a peace treaty with Redwall Abbey"
Marek leans on his cane before speaking " An attempt on my life has happen, both within a day of each other. First at the church south of here and then a beast tried to poison me at the abbey. I am still recovering from the poison, one I am not familiar with and the beast was not found, the only thing found Mr. Bandit was a novice robe they stole and left in the woods as they knocked out a novice at the abbey and placed them into a storage closet to be found later. So whom ever did it is one still at large and two very tricky and smart, and clearly wants me dead."
The fox sighs. "We can't have one day of peace, can we?" Rubbing his tired eyes, Bandit replies, "And you are only coming to me NOW about this? Do you have any idea who might want to poison y- never mind, stupid question. Do you know of anyone who is CURRENTLY trying to..." he pauses, "Also a dumb question. Let me rephrase... did you see who attacked you by the church?" Turning to the weasel he states, "You might want to get that base built first. its probably the only place he would be safe..."
Texo is beginning to get annoyed but he refuses to yell at the Head Guard as, well he rather likes the idea of living and relaxing when it’s time for lunch, not be THE LUNCH for a possible snake. "Well I will need to see what I can do, the tower here will alert us of danger, one will just have to always have one up here. The bell would mainly ring for danger, unlike the abbey where it rings for many things, all those different rings would be hard to remember so I say keep it simple there is danger, a bell rings to get somewhere safe or if your needed to fight, or can fight, be prepared to help."
Marek listens as Bandit speaks and politely waits his turn to get a word it, " I do agree the Mossflower Defender base does need worked on, I do believe its closer to being built than the Bell Tower. I could help you acquire more beasts if needed to help with building."
"Bell towers can also tell time... oh! You should put a sundial in the top of the bell tower. Right here. It would be a great idea!" The fox points to the plans in some random location. It might not be wise to take the advice of a creature like bandit. "You could also eliminate Marek's quarters. At the rate beasts are trying to kill him, he might not be around much longer to use it." His tail wags at his own horrid joke. "I jest. Mostly. But I can put a detail of guards on you if you want."
Texo decides to ignore the fat fox as he rolls up his own blue prints for the Bell Tower and hands them to a trusted ferret who appears to be like a 2nd in command of building as he clears his throat and speaks. "Well the blue prints have already be made and a sun dial may not be best at the time being." He nods to Marek "I would like some more help yes sir, I can place my main focus on your base and still have focus on the Bell Tower, which yes will take some time to build but I hope to have the village a Bell Tower by , well hopefully next Autumn but the Defender base has better news, perhaps by Mid-winter if we are lucky"
Marek gives a cold look to Bandit and remains quiet as his focus stays on Texo. He nods "Very good Mr. Texo and..."He turns to Bandit "I do not acquire guards to follow me around Mr. Bandit, I am not a weak dibbun in need of a babysitter. I am mostly recovered from the poison and as for my room no beast is to touch it. I am only glad Mr. Xander and Mr. Patch left my room untouched, except for the dusting once a week my room, unlike my tavern, stayed the way I left it and it shall stay the way it is. Yes I have taken back control of the Tavern from Mr. Patch and straighten up a few things he...messed up."
The fox raises his paws defensively. "Alright. You're the ex-warlord after all. I won't force you to take precautions to keep you alive." Bandit wags a finger at the stoat, "But I'm warning, Marek, no funny business. If a beast comes after you, tell the Guard. It is what we are here for." In a more somber tone Bandit adds, "And we are both not the warriors we used to be. Just remember, experience takes you far... but only if you have the health to back it up. Especially if you are already half dead from poison."
Texo looks between the two beasts and grows quiet as he listens, only turning to discuss a couple things with a passing moles, moles are vet good with helping make sure buildings are not going to fall over after all, most importantly Bell Towers.
Marek takes a deep breath and exhales "I will keep that in mind but no poison has beat me yet as I am resistant to most poisons, this one was...different who ever made it knew what they were doing and I am only alive do to the quickness of Mr. Leon at the time. I am still in fairly good shape..."He looks to his deformed paw and sighs" Some setbacks but I have learned to adjust to it. I must get back to my Tavern now Mr., Bandit, if you wish to discuss things further we can do so at the tavern during lunch."
"Just remember, I'm in fairly good shape too." The scarred, obese swift fox says with a smile. "Lunch is always appreciated. Also, Texo. Keep up the good work. I'll let Blisa know you are on schedule. Take care, build well, you will most likely be fed to a snake next week." He mock salutes the weasel builder before turning to walk away.
Texo snorts as he looks at the Stoat "I rather dislike the Head Guard, he needs to choke on his lunch"
Marek watches Bandit walk off and shakes his head "I am unsure of whom likes him Mr. Texo but of course Ms. Blisa is the one in charge of the snake, not the fat one."
Marek heads on back to the tavern after his brief chat and spends the rest of the day there before locking up when it’s time and heading to bed.
