SCENE: Ferravale Tavern
CHARACTERS: Blisa, a female cat; Ferdinand, a male ferret; Clarissa, a female rat. Rayen, a vixen.
LOG:
Rayen is at the tavern, she notes a little change, like the menu is changed some at which she frowns slightly but shrugs it off as she leans back in her chair. She has a traveler cloak on around her and gets an ale and some fish with wild greens.
Blisa has changed some of the rules! And while many beasts don't like it, the birds do, and the young cat feels good in her conscious about the reduction of bird deaths she's heard of. The Chieftain walks into the tavern, with Ferdinand and Clarissa close behind, shuffling through some papers before stuffing them into her ever-present messenger bag at her side. "Let's sit in that booth," she suggests as she gestures towards the one she's talking about. It's in a corner.
Rayen watches the chieftain as she passes her and clears her throat "Hello...Chieftain Blisa"
Blisa's ears turn towards the voice a split second before her head whips around and her jade green eyes look towards the location the voice came from. "Oh, hello," she says with a smile. "How may I help you?" Ferdinand and Clarissa keep watch on the cloaked beast. The voice sounds familiar, but they're not 100% sure who it is.
Rayen nods as she lets the hood fall to her shoulders "I...I was thinking and I been told the village needed one. To be a healer here, maybe even Master Healer. Both Abbot Benar and Brother Leon can verify I am very good at healing and can even help with the healing herbs growing in the garden and find them in the woodlands, meadow and by the water ways"
Blisa smiles and sits down opposite of the vixen at the table, with a bodyguard on either side of her, in between her and the fox. So it goes Rayen-Ferdinand-Blisa-Clarissa. Nodding, the Chieftain says, "Aye, we haven't had a Master Healer since..." the last Master Healer was an orange cat that Blisa was practically engaged to, so it hurts for her to remember him. "Uh, he, uh, was murdered by, uh....yeah, one of those lunatics who tried to take over Mossflower a good 4 seasons ago or more. He....so we could really use another one." A waitress comes and asks the new arrivals what they want, and so the 3 of them place their orders, the young cat trying to keep her composure (but still looking stressed and sorrowful).
Rayen nods "I am...sorry for the loss, I could be the main healer here, if your have me as a main healer that is."
As the waitress goes to get the drinks and food, Blisa smiles. "It's....thank you. I would gladly take you on as Master Healer. When can you start?"
Rayen answers "I can start today. I...sort of moved into Ferravale just today and got a lot off my mind of past events"
Blisa grins. "Great! We've been trying to keep everything up to date with the records and stuff, but since....since Jase died, we've only had part time beasts working in there, so I'm afraid the records aren't as good as they should be." Pausing as the drinks come, the cat continues after the waitress leaves. "I think there may be lodging for the Master Healer in the Infirmary building, so you may be able to stay there without having to pay for anything."
Rayen smiles "That would be nice, thank you Chieftain. I hope your village is doing well, things at the abbey are fairly well"
Blisa nods. "It's going pretty well. The riots I had after I banned the eating of birds are over; our crime rates seem to be dropping, and we have more beasts moving in. The harvest should be excellent this year, for a change. I hope everything continues to go well." Then the food comes and the Chieftain eyes the soup hungrily.
Rayen nods "Harvest at Redwall is soon too...." She sighs, Redwall isn't so home feeling anymore to her. "I shall the no wood pigeon...most likely a good move since Ferravale and the Abbey have the peace treaty"
Blisa nods as she sips at her soup. "Yeah, that and how many blackbirds are joining the village. I didn't feel like having a mini Civil War on my paws." She's now remembering the onld master Healer, Jase, and how they were in love with each other....and how heartbroken she was when he was killed. "Thank you for being so complying with this law; I have had many complaints." "But not from the birdth," Ferdinand adds. "Aye, they seem to like it," says Clarissa, grinning.
Rayen says, "Change is hard and...well a lot of vermin were use to wood pigeon here, Marek served it and it was here when Scioto was Chieftain, but there is still fish"
Blisa nods. "Yes. I guess I just have some different convictions than my Daddy did. Maybe spending some of my growing-up seasons in Redwall has something to do with it." Ferdinand nods. "Change ith hard, but I think it'th good; it'th what helpth uth grow." "But nobeast has the right to call Captain Blisa 'ere woodlander scum," Clarissa scowls.
Rayen frowns "Someone said that? That's not right and she is leader here, she has the final say so in what happens and doesn't happen"
Blisa frowns and eats her soup in silence. Clarissa wilts under Ferdinand's glare, and she meekly says, "Well, aye, they did, shipmate, as well as an Abbey brat. Most o' those beasts left the village shortly after Captain Blisa passed her new laws, so we don't 'ave to worry 'bout them anymore." Blisa looks up at the vixen. "Thanks for the support. It is kind of stressful, being Chieftain, so it's nice to have support from beasts."
Rayen says, "Yes support is good. I have some beasts that dislike me as well, but my true friends are there for me still and forgave me of some...former issues" She is not sure Blisa knows, though a letter may of been sent to explain Rayen being here now.
Blisa got the letter, and she knows about the vixen's mistakes in the recent past. But she merely smiles and says, "Good, I'm glad. Everyone needs freinds and forgiveness. And you'll be free to visit them frequently, don't worry. This job isn't a requirement that you stay here and have no social life, don't worry. You'll still be able to go to feasts and I would ask that you would train any volunteers in the Healing arts so they can cover for you when you're taking a break."
Rayen nods "I an willing to teach and...there is really no one at the abbey now, well my son but he will most likely stay with me here, or with Oz have yet to decide where it's best for him to grow up"
Blisa nods. "Ferravale is a bit rough, but Redwall may not be a good fit for his personality. You are welcome to bring him here, but we won't be hurt if you leave him in Redwall, instead." The young cat stands, as do her guards, Ferdinand stacking the empty dishes. "I'm afraid that I have to get back to my paperwork in my office. Thank you for becoming our new Master Healer. You are more than welcome. Talk to you later. I hope you have a good day!" And the trio is off.
Rayen waves and decides to have her lunch, that's a little cold now but that's ok, she will go to the infirm after this and make sure all is well there and then a nap.
