Zolomon sits in a chair, arms folded over his chest and just been in a foul mood since he got to his room. And then he was led here and told to sit, whatever he thought.
Felicity opens the door and enters, looking over a sheet of paper. She walks over and stands in front of her fellow Sergeant and stands there for a while, reading the paper. She then looks him right in the eye and sighs. "Why did y'do it, wot? 'Tisn't like y't'be so....hateful. Why are y'actin' like this, Zolomon?"
Zolomon looks at Felicity." Do wot?" He asks her in a sort of monotone voice. He taps his fingers on the table. " Made to march back here...annoying."
Felicity scowls angrily. "WHY did y'get drunk? WHY 'ave y'been insubordinate? WHY did y'get in a fight in th'tavern AND get in a fight wi' Terrence? WHY are..." she looks at the paper again. "WHY are y'tryin' t'rile up th'vermin o' 'Alyard an' start a blasted war o' somethin'?? 'Tisn't like you, Zolomon. Y'are kind an' patient, an' y'try t'be friends wi' vermin. WHY are y'actin' so diff'rent??" She thinks she knows why, but she's trying to get him to talk about it.
Zolomon rolls his eyes." Vermin are..evil Felicity and none should really be friends.I angered no one, simply protecting friends...as for drunk..I needed a strong drink, not my blooming fault wot they gave me."
Felicity raises an eyebrow. "Oh, all vermin are evil, hmm? Even that Marek I've 'eard tell 'bout? 'E was a stoat. Or whot 'bout tha' cat, Blisa? That's a whole village o' vermin she's in charge of, 'tisn't it? I guess now y'gonna write 'ome t'Redwall an' tell 'em t'cancel their peace treaty wi' Ferravale an' annihalate them."
Zolomon says, " ...look I don't "
Zolomon shrugs. " I....look I don't know, their business not mine. I could maybe go to Mossflower..find a certain vermin and end him."
Felicity suppresses a sigh. "Oh, tha's bloody brilliant....d'y'think Xandah would want y'actin' this way? I think if 'e could come back, 1 o' 'is first stops would be t'come 'ere an' slap some sense int' ya, wot!"
Zolomon frowns as his friend's name is mentioned, then he glares." Well, he's dead..ya don't come back from that...my life is bad! Let's take this beast..this one and oh ya bestest friend while at it"
The doe is suddenly in his face, blue eyes blazing. "Don't y'dahe evah pull the 'life is bad' card on me, Sergeant." (yep, even the gentle Felicity has dropped his name in exchange for his rank--he really needs to stop ticking people off.) "I lost my whole faml'y, save m'sistah, an' 'ad no real friends at th'time, yet I kept my 'ead, did m'duties, an' didn't go off an' shame my dead loved ones by actin' like a blasted fool. I stayed true t'myself, which is somethin' y'not doin'. Y'c'n be sad an' angry an' upset, but y've gone too fah, Sergeant. Y'nothin' like th'Zolomon I call m'friend."
Zolomon leans back a little and looks ready to yell back, he then snorts." The old me is gone, deal with it."
Felicity's anger melts away, to be replaced by great sorrow. After a few moments she steps back. "Aye, he is. An' 'tis as great a tragedy as if y'd been murdered oh killed in action." She sighs. "I'm gonna ask 'is Lordship t'keep y' 'ere, at least foh a while. I don't think goin' t'Mossflowah is a good idea foh you. At least not 'til y've learned th' consequences o' y'actions."
Zolomon speaks. " He already is keeping me at the Mt. so it's a bit too late to suggest it." He sounds grumpy. " I should be in Halyard."
"No, y'shouldn't!" Felicity is starting to see why Terrence and Ciocan are exasperated with Zolomon. "Y'almost got y'self killed, y'bein' disrespectful an' insubordinate, y'not thinkin' straight....y'not y'self! Jus' th'fact tha' y'not actin' like y'normal self is enough reason t'keep y'at th'Mountain! 'Twould be foolish t'let y'do /anythin'/!"
Zolomon stands and slams a fist into the table." You all are..are.." He shakes his head." I should leave." He doesn't really mean it but it comes out.
Felicity takes a deep breath to help her stay calm and in the moment. "No, y'should stay. We need y'in th'Patrol, Zolomon....but we need /you/ t'be /you/, no' this angry creatah y've become." She sighs, shaking her head as she turns towards the door. "I'll have y'escorted back t'y'quahtahs. Please think on whot I've said...an' try t'do Xandah's memory proud."
Zolomon again a small faint reaction to his friend's name and then it's gone. He just pouts. " Yeah...my room."
"Aye, y'room. Be glad y'not restricted t'bread an' watah....e'en though y'desehve it." With that, Felicity exits, and a pair of Privates enter to escort Zolomon back to his quarters. Later that night, when all her duties are done, her sister is in bed, and she has checked in with the Healers, Felicity finds a nice, secluded area to cry in. She is missing her friend…
Zolomon lets himself be escorted back to his room. He just sort of stares at the wall till he falls asleep.
