A Small Vaction-Redwall Log

LOG:

Benar is sat in a comfortable armchair in front of a fire reading a large, old journal, his eyes scanning the ancient handwriting as he enjoys the warmth of the library.

Krisha steps into the library, she isn't in here very often as she starts to head over to a shelf and sees Benar"Hello Abbot Benar" She says softly as she looks at the old journal he has "Find something of interest?"   

Benar looks up at the badger and smiles, "Yes, this is one of Abbess Tansy and her quest for the Tears of all Oceans," He places a hand on the text, "It is quite fascinating to read about."   

Krisha nods "I have not read much on the former abbess or abbots, maybe I should sometime. I was going to look in some history for some new stories for the dibbuns at storytime"   

Benar smiles softly, "They all have a lot of wisdom to grant us in their journals," He places a bookmark in the journal and closes it, "You realize I learned something recently, I am only the third male squirrel to hold the position of abbot. Abbot Arven was both Abbey Warrior and then Abbot Thibb before me."   

Krisha smiles "Interesting, I do know most abbots or abbesses were mice, who knows maybe one day a badger will even be an abbot or abbess one day but my guess is likely not"   

Benar says, "You never know Krisha," Benar says softly, "Any beast could be Abbot or Abbess of Redwall, one can never know"

Krisha says, "that's true. I know a badger was recorder once" She shrugs as she decides to sit in a chair that's near the abbot, a large cozy chair that's in here."Its been a good week so far and the feast was....well it was nice, had the one morment that was a moment of ...well,  but it eased up and the rest of the  feast went great"

Benar says, "Yes, I noticed," he shakes his head, "That'll teach me to walk on out of the feast to go get something. Everyone misbehaves if I am not around to frown at them. Still I am glad everyone had a good time."

Krisha chuckles "It wasn't too out of control. It was mainly that one squirrel Spruce and then.."She tries to remember the name "The rat...oh Safana got a bit out f hand but as said things calmed down and all was well."She tilts her head "I do wonder if the dibbuns are up to something, they been good lately no issues...no skipping class, nothing. It's unlike them to be totally good this long"   

Benar says, "I wouldn't be surprised if they are still all a bit in shock after what happened to them," He frowns, "Or that terror Squirrelbabe is planning something. If they go into my bedroom again I think I will shout at them a lot, they made such a mess  last time."

Krisha frowns, she nods 'Yes Squirrelbabe, she has been good though lately..."She sighs "I don't want to know what happen to them I am just glad they made it home safe"   

Benar says, "Indeed," Benar leans back in his chair and looks up at the badger, "They are home with us once more, the Abbey is whole and at peace. These are the times I treasure the most."
   
Krisha smiles "Yes, it is. And we are ready for winter now, which is good. I rather like relaxing by the fireplace, I may even find a way to have a couple days with just family but if not that is ok. I am glad everyone got back safe...yes some changes but that's ok as well"   

Benar asks, "I should send you and Xander and little Oz away for a few days, go visit friends in Ferravale or just take a few days off and go check how Brockhall is doing? You won't get a proper day off if you stay here," He chuckles softly, "I never get days off, even when I try to take a day out like today."

Krisha chuckles, "Maybe here soon before the weather gets colder. Sister Anna and some others can help watch the dibbun a few days."
   
Benar says, "Sounds lovely, I'd come with but we really shouldn't both leave at the same time."
   
Krisha says, "I can find some order beasts to go, not sure how many would need to come along really. Me and Xander can do some things at Brock Hall after all, it just be me,him and Oz and whoever came to help out a little"
   
Benar says, "Well ask a few friends, I mean nothing much needs doing at Brockhall other then checking it is ok and locked uptight and such. Take some friends, make a little holiday of it."

Krisha nods "I think I might, maybe in the next couple of days in fact"She smiles "Time off will be good. Even if the dibbuns have been good I have been busy catching up on lessons, a couple dibbuns are not sleeping well..nightmares but hoping those go away soon, and Oz is at the age where he tries to get into everything now that he can walk around fairly good. "   

Benar says, "Maybe after you get back I can rustle up an escort and go drop in on Blisa and Ferravale, it'd be nice to get an actual real day off for once. I rarely ever get to leave the abbey these days."

Krisha says, "Beasts are probably just over protective cause you're the abbot. Visiting Ferravale be good, they have a new Blacksmith now....not talked to him yet though."

Benar says, "Ah it happens, still I will try and arrange a trip up there just to say hello," The abbot smiles, "But it will do you all good for getting time off"

Krisha nods slightly distracted "Yeah...I didn't catch the new Blacksmith's name....but oddly enough it's a mole, very tall one too"   

Gorvenalus enters the library and gives a nod to the two beasts as he overhears the chat "A mole?" He sounds curious but lets them reply as he lays down a book he just fixed the spine of.
   
Benar says, "Well I get along well with moles, I speak their dialect," he glances over at Gorvenalus, "Hello Gorvenalus, we are talking about Ferravale's new blacksmith"
   
Krisha smiles at the beaver "Yes Ferravale's new Blacksmith, he is a mole. I saw him briefly not too long ago" She adds "I am surprised a mole is the blacksmith but I suppose he gets along good in Ferravale"   

Gorvenalus smiles "Ferravale is an interesting place but the Chieftain seems to keep it in good order, and we have a peace treaty with them after all"   

Benar says, "It is a very interesting community, woodlanders and vermin mostly living together in harmony. I am glad they have been so successful."
   
Krisha says, "Its mostly vermin, but yes the woodlandersIt'sere do get along...fairly well anyways. Still not too wise to just walk on in at times."
   
Gorvenalus hmms "I was in Ferravale a couple times to look around. I liked the market place and the tavern was ok, at the time no bar fights. They do have a fighting pit so maybe that lessens the fights somewhat"   

Benar says, "I guess if people can take their agression out in the fighting pits then aggressiveness inclined to fight elsehwere.... I can't say I approve "

Krisha shakes her head "I...dislike fighting. One reason I am glad Xander is wanting to be a novice now and so far he is sticking with it"She smiles"Its a good thing"   

Gorvenalus nods "Yes Xander helped dust the library last week, I may teach him to mend books perhaps. Luckily not many books need fixed, there is a very old one I am slowly tending too but it will likely be a while as one needs to be extra careful with the pages"   

Benar nods and leans back in his chair, "I am reading Abbess Tansy's journals, they are fascinating."   

Krisha says, "some jornals are old, the first one of Badgejournalsrs is old I know and I looked in it a few times and was very carefull...the more recent one I am careful as well and likely will add my own writeing in it....well I did add...one, writing on how my furst day as Badger Mother was"
   
Gorvefirst smiles "Likely a lot of good info and stories in those journals, in any journals really"He smiles "I keep some personal writing as well one may read one day"   

Benar says, "Well I have my journals as Abbot upstairs in my office, and Lorimis journals too. But the journals of past Abbots are full of wisdom and stories."
   
Krisha nods, "Advice is always good...and helpful at times too" She glances at the steps before speaking more "I should find out who wants to help watch the dibbuns for a few days, no more than a week and if it helps anyone feel better Matilda could always escort me,Xander and Oz to Brock Hall and in a few days come back to lead us back to the abbey"   

Gorvenalus listens "Time off will do you some good Krisha, never good to overwork oneself and never have a day off...Oz rarely took any days off, very rarely in fact"   

Benar nods his head, "I am sure Matilda would enjoy the chance to get out," he stands up and shakes out his robe, "But I should get back to my office, the paperwork won't go away, I'll see you both later."   

Krisha waves "see you later Benar"
   
Gorvenalus says, "I may come, mainly to l0ook around Brockhall, learn some more of it but I would head back sooner, maybe stay a day is all

Krisha says, "You can tag along Brother Gorvenalus, stay the first night and head back next day with Matilda...its gonna be me,Xander and Oz...and 1-2 novices, not many as not many is needed and stay a week"   

Gorvenalus nods as he listens "This would be good yes. To see the place, maybe look at its history even. Does it have a library?"   

Krisha hmms "A small one I think, but yes some books are there...some were brought back here and kept somewhere"   

Gorvenalus says, "I have seen some here yes, maybe some old ones can be fixed and kept here even, we shall see"

Krisha waved as she went to go speak to Xander on how they will have some time for themselves, a few days for family only at Brock Hall.
