Finally,They are Heeded...Home-LP/Dibbun Slavers LOG

The mission was a success and after a week of some rest and recovery, getting some repairs done that needed to be done and just basically making sure this evil base would remain unusable. There was also some rest for the former slaves, not just the dibbuns but others.   

Some of the former slaves, ones that been here a long time, were going to go on another ship, one run by the otter Rusty, they would, for now,  use the renamed Crimson Tide, the now Freedom Paw as the sea otter decided to call it. A small group of half a dozen was staying in the tunnels, they were use to them and liked them, and they could keep an eye on things, and there was the small tribe of 10 seals that lived by the island, they too would stay. A small pawful would go with the heroes and dibbuns to see Mossflower.   

Donica was ready to leave, she thought the island extremely creepy and was glad to finally leave it.   

Rufus ventured out a small ways from the captain's quarters where he had decided to stay, least till some feathers grew back.
   
Keldorn was unsure of the island, the cove was nice enough but he did miss home. A smile at the 3 shrews with him, there was also Leigh and Oswald.....well somewhere.   

Tenzin started at the ship as he watched beasts walk about it, he walks over to where Rusty is and a nod is given, there was still Copper though, he walked over to the otter"Hey"   

Copper looks up and smiles "Its a great day huh Tenzin...so you staying or..."He glanced at the ship "Heading off with them?"   

Ever since the Dibbuns have been rescued, DoraRose has spent every moment she possibly can with them.  She obviously can't be too much happier, at least in regards to being with them.  She guides them onto the ship, keeping a close watch on all of them to make sure they all make it aboard.  They seem to trust her -- back in Redwall, she would volunteer with them at least once a week, loving on them and being their friend.  So more than anyone else in the group of heroes, they trust her.  Although they also trust Matilda, for sure!

The Dibbuns are understandably nervous about getting on another ship, but if Dora and Matilda and the other adults they know from home say it's okay, then they trust them.  They all go aboard, none of them getting lost or arguing (or falling into the water, like the Gatekeeper fears they will).  Squirrelbabe is even behaving, which the mouse Warrior and the Abbey Champion find suspicious.  The DAB Ringleader helps the Dibbuns get settled, although they'll only go below decks when Dora goes with them.

Sergeant Felicity is led aboard, still staring blankly at nothing, still not reacting to anything or anyone.  She'll eat if food is placed in her paws, and she'll drink water if it's given to her.  She sleeps when it's dark, but she still has yet to say anything or even act like she sees or hears anything.  She's completely lost in her own little world.  She'll go wherever anyone leads her, and sit if guided into a chair.  But that's about it.

Ciana stayed with all the dibbuns, but unlike the others, she did become a little less scared of the grownups on the ship. Unlike the other dibbuns she didn't know the champion or the gatekeeper so just was quiet around them.   

Matilda checked on all her friends, as well as the small group coming with them before glancing over at Tenzin.
   
Ciocan was at the wheel of the ship giving out orders to start getting things underway as they started to get ready to head out, he nods to a hare to make sure all is on board.
   
Hares and others get the sails up, others check the railings and making sure any supplies are in order as some supplies from the base was divided between the two ships, not like the vermin need the supplies anymore after all.   

The new ship under Rusty's command, The Freedom Paw is already heading out, some of the former slaves are excited and some scared, his ship heads the opposite direction of the Valor.   

Donica looks over the railing, "Least no one should get seasick this time around, all should anyways be use to a ship and the sea by now"
   
Rufus hmmmphs, "Rufus rather be in sky than on here.....is not liking boat, air better and can't get crow nest"
   
Keldorn nods to Donica and chuckles "One never knows lass, one never knows...some may need to regain sea legs"   

Tenzin shrugs to Copper, "I...don't know"He looks at The Ship of Valor and snorts, unsure but for now he stands there, change is not something easy to him,yet a lot of why he was here is gone, the mission was won and he would likely just sit around and do nothing, well probably help the half dozen beasts staying to be ready for winter, but they had the tunnels and caves, he looks at the ship again.   
Copper smiles "Go, I will be fine brother...and I speak seal unless you forgot."
   
Ciana frowns and sits down in an out of the way place just watching beasts.   

Matilda double checks lines and nods to go ahead and pull up the anchor and the can head off finally, she walks over to Ciocan "Seems we are ready to start the long trip back now"   

Ciocan nods"It would seem, "He says softly, he gives out the orders to finish getting those sails up, to get the anchor settled and all the way up as he sets about getting the ship moved slowly out of the hidden cove and back to the open sea.

Leigh watches as they start to slowly get back to the open sea and away from the island   

Varus counts and re-counts all the hares on board, making sure nobeast has been left behind as they shove off.   

All are on the ship, any beasts that died they buried here and had a small service, a better memorial can likely be done later. The day is sunny and only a couple puffy white clouds are in the sky. Beasts seem happy to finally be heading off now. It will be a 3-4 week trip to get to the Western shores and about 3 weeks after that to get back to the abbey after likely another short rest.   

Donica stays by the railing and watches, reaching out to touch one of the hanging vines as they pass them and back out to the sea now.
   
Rufus would fly but he is still sadly molting a little, he is outside the room but staying close to where Ciocan is for now as fewer beasts go by the wheel anyways.   

Keldorn smiles as they shove off and looks around, he glances at the land and then to the remains of the base, good riddance is whispered under his breath.   

Tenzin watches the ship head off, was...he not going? Copper gives him a questioning look before Tenzin just snorts and then the sea otter dives into the water and heads to the ship....well better late than never he has decided it would seem.   

Matilda has yet to see the sea otter yet as she helps make sure the dibbuns stay away from the railing and out of the way of the groups.

Ciocan meanwhile carefully gets the ship away from the hidden cove and turns the wheel to get it headed in the direction they need to go, he takes a final glance at the island and then looks away to focus on getting the ship to the current that will get them back to the Western Shore.
   
Varus nods, satisfied. All Patrollers are onboard. He watches the horizon and sighs.   

Donica looks around slightly, "I don't think I will miss that creep place at all"   

Rufus decides to settle down and get some rest, he has a small bit of cloth and some feathers in a corner and will rest for now.   

Keldorn smiles at the hare maid "It was a bit creepy at times yes, though the cove is nice enough, I know 6 of the beasts from the caves stayed thar, with the seals I believe."
   
Tenzin swims over to the ship, and to the side looking for any rope or anything, he then shouts "Hey...any way ta still get aboard, " He smirks "Or do I swim all de way to where you're headed?"   

Ciana blinks and peeks out of the railing, she almost falls off but Matilda makes sure she stays on the ship and gets her and the other dibbuns below deck for the time being.
   
Ciocan looks over at where Tenzin is and frowns slightly, The ship is fully away from the cove now and back into the open waters of the sea, he calls out "Someone help Tenzin on board please"
   
Leigh blinks as she thinks she sees, and she does " Tenzin...what are ya doing?"   

Varus points to a private, "You there... Lowah a rope f'r th' ottah. Get to it." He looks down over the railing. "Cuttin' it a bit close, aren't ya, wot?"   

Some watch the sea otter, one beast even giggles as they think him funny. The hare maid Donica just watches him, a small frown at the idea of swimming all the way back even if he was joking.
   
Keldorn chuckles "So now ya decide to tag along Tenzin, it will be good to have you along with us."   

Tenzin grins at the beasts on the ship, he does grab a rope a hare throws down and gets on board, he shakes water from his fur and mutters a "Sorry thar..."He speaks "Better late than never suppose, wasn't sure would tag along and then figured, may as well"   

Ciocan stays at the wheel for now as he can let another take the wheel later in the day.   

Leigh says, "I am glad you decided to come with us Tenzin"   

Varus harrumphs. "Well, then... Glad t' have y' back, but maybe get on board soonah next time..."   

Donica shakes her head at the otter, if he wasn't an otter she likely check to make sure he was ok. She heads over to help adjust a sail a little better to catch the wind.   

Keldorn chuckles again "Maybe you can see Camp Willow in Mosssflower or find a place along de Western shore to live Tenzin, where did you use to live?"   

Tenzin nods to Varus "I will keep it in mind.."He shrugs at Keldorn"I am unsure where ta stay, not that island...tis was nothing but bad memories and evil, and I use to live on the northern coast...before one of Gorax's beast destroyed my holt, took me and 5 others when we were but dibbuns.. I and Copper were the only ones left...now"He sighs a little" I will not miss that place at all"   

While Ciocan is busy at the wheel Matilda walks over to the otter"It is good to have you aboard Tenzin, I hope you can make some friends and find a place you feel welcomed"   

Leigh says, "There is Camp Willow...and the abbey as well."   

Varus mmms. "I visited Camp Willow many seasons ago, when I was a much youngah Patrollah. Good place t' live, though o' course it's no Salamandastron..."   

Donica says, "I like Salaadanstron, it's nice"She smiles, she had spent a week there and soon will spend more time there as very likely not all the hares, well maybe all will, head on to the abbey."Though Camp Willow sounds interesting to visit though"   

Keldorn smiles "It is close to the GUOSIM Camp...Camp Willow is ...very nice place and great for otters."   

Tenzin shrugs "I will..figure it out"He sounds unsure still, change again was clearly hard for the otter as he looks back to the island.He lets out a soft snort,"Got a lot ta think on suppose"   

Matilda smiles "Well it's up to you what you do Tenzin and you have a lot of time to think on it"
   
Varus leans against the railing. "Well, y' could stay in Halyahd. There's a population of ottahs there..."   

Donica Is curious as she has yet to visit Halyard, but maybe after she is back at the mountain she can, well likely after a few days as she does have some lessons to catch up on and likely training to deal with.   

Keldorn says, "Halyard is......interesting, a mix of vermin and woodlander live that"
   
Tenzin hmms "Otters, like a tribe or clan or just otters with nowhere ta go?" He looks at Keldorn"Vermin?....I am unsure I would get along with most then"   

Matilda speaks now "There is a vermin village in Mossflower but they and the abbey have a peace treaty, just so you know, its called Ferravale"   

Varus shrugs. "We put up wi' th' vermin in Halyahd. Mah own fam'ly 'ome is there, so there's just as many 'ares livin' there as vermin."   

Donica looks over "Vermin village in Mossflower?" She hmms but she decides it's likely not as bad as a sea coast village.
   
Keldorn nods to the hare maid "Yes lass, not to worry most in Ferravale are friendly enough and I believe the ones in Halyard behave being so close to your mountain" He looks at Tenzin "You would like the tavern in Ferravale"
   
Tenzin shrugs again, he has a good deal on his mind"I am goin below fer a nap" And so he heads there to find a place to sleep if he gets any sleep that is, it's likely mostly thinking and a small bit of sleep.   

Matilda moves aside "I say we all give him some space perhaps, he was one of the ones that's been on that island a very long time"   

Varus nods again. "Right, give 'im space, y' lot." He turns, to watch the island recede into the distance.   

Donica watches the otter head below deck and then goes to sit on one of the small benches by the main area of the ship"Maybe heading home won't take as long, we did get a slight bit lost when the storm hit, "   

Keldorn says, "Let's hope for no storm then, but they are not usually as bad as that one was"   

Matilda hmmms and looks at the island as it starts to disappear "I hope the ones who did stay will be ok" Beast from the tunnels, 6 in all...stayed with the clam of seals from the island.   

Varus sighs. "The ocean is unpredictable, lad. Can't predict a storm before it 'appens."   

Donica says, "Hopefully if there is one, it's not as bad"   

Keldorn nods "True , true sir..that is and yes could be, could not be a storm or a bad storm...semi bad or just a small one, happens in spring and summer, at times Authun but think de winter is quiet"
   
Matilda nods "Storms happen we just have to try and be prepared best we can.I want a good trip home as we have had enough problems just getting to the island"   

"Could've been worst," says Varus. "We could've sunk."   

Donica frowns "Sinking...would have been very bad, I am glad we didn't sink"
   
Keldorn nods "Yes I as well..this ship seems strong enough think the one storm prooved that"He looks at the land, it's basically long off now as he relaxed a little now "Homeward."
   
Matilda smiles "Home will be most welcome when we get there, I have missed home a great deal"
   
Varus nods his head firmly. "I'll be more th'n glad t' see mah wife Olivia again, I c'n tell y' that..."
   
Donica says, "Are all the hares going to the abbey or just..some of us sur? I know I have lessons to start soon, though have done some on the ship"
   
Keldorn decides to let the others talk as it was starting to slowly get late in the day now   

Ciocan has passed the wheel onto someone else as he walks around to check on how beasts are, he then makes his way over to Varus and Donica and nods "Greetings you two, hope all is well...we have started to first leg of the trip ...home, like a little over 3 weeks travel back to the Western Shores"
   
Varus salutes the badger. "Sah," he says, then shrugs to Donica. "I don't know, lass. I s'pose we'll see..."   

Donica salutes the badger as well "I am doin ok sur...was wondering, whom will stay at the mountain and who will go on to..Redwall, guessing we will escort the dibbuns and others back thar".

Ciocan nods "We will yes, as for whom stays and who goes on to the abbey after a brief stop.I am unsure.If some choose to stay at the mountain and not go on to Redwall, they are welcome to stay...some will head on with us to the abbey.We will have a few days rest at Salamanstron first though."He smiles "And we have two beasts still at the mountain to take home to the abbey as well"
   
Varus nods his head. "It's been entirely too many seasons since I last visited Mossflowah. So I intend t' go."
   
Donica nods "I may stay...but who is..."She then remembers "Oh..Xander and his son are at the mountain, I wonder how they are doing. If they are alright"   

Ciocan gives a nod "Yes and I would hope they are alright" He smiles "You would be welcome to go to the abbey"He hmmms at Donica "You can stay at Sala...if you're worried about any lessons, you are fairly new to the patrol"He smiles again "But you have done very well so far"
   
"Bettah than I would 'ave expected, Recruit." Varus nods sagely. "You'll be a fine Patrollah, wot."   

Donica smiles, she was still a recruit for now "Thank you...surs"   

Ciocan smiles "Perhaps your get your Private rank soon, we will have to see"He then excuses himself and heads to the captain's room.
   
Varus nods a moment later. "I think I'll retire f'r th' evenin', mahself," he says, descending the stairs.
   
Donica nods, she decides to stay on deck a little longer and look at the stars. She then heads down below as well once others look to be heading to bed, a couple of hares stay on watch duty on the ship.   

The trip back home has started
