LOG:
Gorvenalus is sitting enjoying some tea and scones, a break was needed as his fur is slightly dusty now, he looks over a list he has in front of him.
Log-A-Log walks over and sits, "I am having the back pain...am I getting the...whats called old?" He chuckles and gets a scone."Wot is list my friend?"
LilyMoore has been doing a really good job as Gatekeeper, actually! And since she's off duty right now (the regular Redwall guards are making her take a break), she decides to come rest in Great Hall. Upon entering, she smiles as she sees the beaver. "Oh, hi, Gorve! Oh, hello, Log-a-Log," she adds, waving to the shrew. She walks over and sits beside the beaver. "What have you 2 been up to?"
Gorvenalus smiles "Greetings and...busy with fixing up dorm rooms and main room for dibbun, and a classroom...a lot of work but relaxing, and its helping get Mother Krisha mind off things...my task help figure out paints for the walls, and some perhaps pattern as well...vines or flowers"
Log-A-Log nods" Interesting work, dusting and mopping and the like but being helpful is good, yes" He smiles as he nibbles the scone"I like idea of classroom having de numbers, shapes..letters even an area to see and learn basics and would feel more like..learning area true?"
LilyMoore nods. "Aye, Gracie has been talking about how she hopes the rooms look when you're done. I think it's been good for her to have something to think about." She stretches her arms across the table. "I think having the letters and stuff on the walls will help."
Gorvenalus smiles "Maybe Gracie can give Mother Krisha ideas"
Log-A-Log says, "A dibbuns ideas would be nice..Xavier would give his most likely, if he could talk but he can not yet"
LilyMoore smiles. "Oh, I'm sure Gracie would love to. She's already told me the girl's room needs to be green with lots of flowers." The Bellringer frowns a little bit. "I tried to wash her blankie yesterday, but she freaked out, so I gave up. I'm not sure what to do."
Gorvenalus says, "Wait till she is asleep maybe, I am not sure"
A hare pushes his way through the front door. He's dressed in a full-body cloak, hiding the rest of his outfit completely. "Ahem... Excuse me, you lot. I'd like ta bloody well speak t' yahr bloomin' Abbot." He wasted no time.
Log-A-Log shrugs,he then looks up at the cloaked figure, at first he looks ready to give some sort of alarm till he then notices it's a hare and sits down slowly "I am not being sure...where he is sorry"
LilyMoore frowns. "But I don't want her to be scared when she wakes up...." when the hare enters, the Bellringer stands and smiles at him. "I'm not sure where he is right now, I'm sorry. I'm the Gatekeeper right now. Can I help you?" She looks very much like DoraRose and Leon both, so he may recognize the family resemblance.
Gorvenalus looks up and blinks as he stands "Abbot Benar may be resting, greetings and welcome to Redall Abbey perhaps I can help.I am Brother Gorvenalus, Recorder of Redwall Abbey"
Adrian looks around the room, spying the various beasts. "Well, mah mates an' I would be glad f'r a place t' stay f'r th' next few days... But tha's not mah chief concern, wot." He starts to unclasp the pin holding his cloak and begins to remove it, revealing his somewhat battered Long Patrol uniform. "Corporal Adrian Hornswiggle Swiftbuck III, at yahr service. An' I need t' talk t' somebeast in chahge. Y've got yahrselves a bit of a bloody problem, wot."
Log-A-Log says, "We are knowing this"He assumes he is speaking of the slavers that are way gone now "But we have beasts looking for the dibbuns as we speak and slay those slavers hopefully that took them"
LilyMoore frowns. "Trouble? What do you mean? Unless you, yeah, unless you mean the slavers that stole our Dibbuns. Matilda, Xander, and my mom, DoraRose, along with some others, have gone after them." She thinks for a moment. "Adrian? I think my mom talked about you -- you were the guide for the Redwall ambassadors, Mom, my dad Leon, and Zinnia, when they were at Salamandastron, right? Mom's talked about you."
Adrian blinks in surprise. "Goodness, lass. That was quite a few seasons ago." He chuckles drily, then shakes his head. "We 'eard the Champion 'ad left th' Abbey, but not why." The hare's face darkens. "'M afraid tha' news 'as spread pretty fah... Woodlandahs an' vermin f'r miles around know tha' Redwall is more vulnerable righ' now..."
Log-A-Log frowns "that is not good, had you seen something?"
Gaheris had been up on the walls for the last couple of hours on guard duty but word was from the guards by the gates a Long Patrol hare has just turned up. He was hoping that didn't mean something bad. The Skipper was quick to check the guards were all fine with one short and then headed off inside, sticking his head in the door and looking around quickly until he spots the group "Ah! 'ey. Somethin' up?"
Gorvenalus seems willing to check on Benar but...he can update him he decides "Is there just you Corporal or..some other hares as well and how many if so?"
LilyMoore is getting nervous. "But....but Blisa didn't betray us...how in the world is anybeast finding out?" The Bellringer starts to pace a little. Because of course trouble would threaten while she's temporary Gatekeeper. She glances at the Skipper as he joins them. "I'm so glad more experienced leaders are here," she mutters to herself (referring to him, the ferret Blisa put in charge of the Ferravalians in Redwall, Log-a-Log, and Virginia the rook, in charge of Blisa's birds). "I have no idea what I'm doing."
Adrian frowns, and shrugs. "If y' said yahr young'uns were kidnapped, then most likely other vermin knew about it, or saw th' kidnappahs fleein' th' area," he replies. He turns to the beaver. "Countin' mahself, there's five of us... It's a long story, an' not one I relish th' tellin' of. We're on a very erstwhile recruitment mission..."
Virginia the rook enters the room. Just like all the other Ferravale birds, she has a white band around her ankle. The Ferravalian mammals have white arm bands. This will help keep the allies and the enemies straight if vermin attack the Abbey. "Crawk! LilyMoore, the Sparra are bothering us again. Can you come help?" The Bellringer groans and follows the rook out the door. In addition to everything else, she's having to play peacemaker between all the birds in the Abbey since she's one of the very few people who can understand every single bird species. This is waaaaay more work than she was expecting...
Log-A-Log listens and frowns "If there is more trouble, any help would most be welcomed indeed"
Gaheris enters the room properly as they're talking, closing the door behind him only to have a bird appear behind him before he gets too far. He grips the spear he's been carry around tight but tries to pretend it was nothing when it becomes clear the bird knows the others. A deep breath after the Lily and the bird leave and he looks back at the others "It weren't just the abbey dibbuns tha' got took. Got t'expect the word will get around" he says as he finally gathers what they're talking about. He nods his greeting to Log-a-log before he looks to the hare "Not the whole patrol marchin' in then? Good. I'd 'ate t'be in enough trouble t'make a badger lord leave 'ome"
Log-A-Log looks at the kitchen and hmmms "Who is gonna be warning Friar...of hares I am meaning"
Adrian grimaces. "'M not nearly ready t' see mah fathah right now," he replies. "At any rate... We'll do wot we can. Assumin' trouble comes this way... We did see a lahge group o' rats, 'eaded northwahds. That's wot spurred us t' get 'ere fastah, wot."
Gorvenalus nods as he frowns, he writes things down as the beasts speak frowning,Benar is not gonna like this but he will have to let him know.
Gaheris' head raises sharply and he frowns, concerned "'ow many did y'see, 'ow far away and 'ow armed?" he asks sharply before glancing around the otherwise peaceful hall with the odd novice wandering around doing chores. His jaw tightens and he quickly goes to nab a spare bit of paper from Gorvenalus' work and put it in front of Adrian. He taps the paper "Write it down. Can point it out on a map or somethin'. I don't want this gettin' round and panickin' folks before we know wha's goin' on" he says, lowering his voice.
Adrian sits down, and takes up the quill, and starts to jot down what his group had observed several days previously. "Pahdon. Mah writin's a bit rusty, wot. It's been an awfully long time since I sat down ta write." He puts down the details he knows, then looks up at the otter. "Are you, by any chance, a Skippah, wot?"
Gaheris peers over Adrian's shoulder to read as he writes. By the end of it he's thinking hard and sighs heavily "We're goin' t'ave t'speak t' the abbot. If we're lucky it ain't wha' we think but we can probably ask one of those birds t'check things out, see if they're really comin' 'ere" he thinks for a moment more before the question snaps him out of it "Ah, aye, Skipper of Camp Willow. The abbey asked for back up, we always come t'elp"
Adrian nods his head. "Y' 'ave tha' commandin' air," he replies. "Reminds me of mah fathah, but not in a bad way, wot." He frowns briefly. "At any rate, mah fellow 'ares are waitin' back at camp about 'alf a mile away from 'ere... I'll go tell 'em that you lot will be glad t' give us a place t' rest..."
Gaheris' eyebrows raise in surprise "Tha' is the first time I 'ave ever been compared t'anyone's father. I ain't old enough f'tha' mate!" he laughs before nodding his head to the door "Aye, y'get yer lot safe inside quick and we'll deal with wha'ever comes next when it comes"
Adrian nods his head, and starts to pull his cloak back on over his uniform. "Will do... Tell tha' Friar that 'e'll be feedin' five more beasts
tonight... An' we ain't eaten tha' well since Southswahd, eh wot." He chuckles.
Gaheris' eyebrows got up another notch "Oh boy" he mutters and though the Log-a-log had one to warn the kitchen already and the threat of vermin was looming he heads for the kitchen anyway "I'll tell 'em they need t'roll out the feast"
Adrian laughs good-naturedly. "Thanks, mate... 'N don't worry... Vermin is our speciality..." And with that, the hare exits the Great Hall.
Gorvenalus walks down the steps as he had gotten up to see if Benar was able to chat, seems not so he is back down"Greetings again, hope I did not miss too much..Benar is resting, he hasnt gotten much sleep and the healers are making him get rest but he wil be told of this new problem that has come up as soon as possible"
That's the same time that Lacota comes out of the kitchen. "What's this I've been told about *five* hares?"
Gaheris was on his way to the kitchen to add to the warning when Lacota appears and he takes a step back "Five 'ares who apparently ain't 'ad much t'eat lately" suddenly the Skipper turning up with ten hotroot eating otters may not seem so bad. He looks back to the beaver when he reappears. He nods once "They ain't on the doorstep, there's time t'rest" he offers the paper that Adrian wrote the details on to Gorvenalus "Once 'e's up let 'im know we might."

Gorvenalus looks over at the Friar and points to Adrian"He can explain" He sighs as the hare disappears into the entry and shrugs.
The squirrel throws his paws up. "Good heavens, though... I've been to Salamandastron... I know how much they eat!"
Gaheris shakes his head, still offering the paper to Gorvenalus "It ain't the entire patrol anyway. Y'ave me belief tha' y'can feed five 'ungry 'ares no problem...though maybe we want t'make sure we're all stocked up on everythin' still"
Gorvenalus gets the paper and places it in his robe pocket. He sits down "We do have other issues the hares will help with, seems rats south of here"
Lacota sighs. "It's not that... Just... Everything else, you know. This is a trying time for us all..."
Gaheris runs a paw over his head when Gorvenalus mentions the rats "Not tha' we want t'worry everyone yet. There's still the 'ope they're not comin' 'ere" he nods back at Lacota "Aye. It's a hard season for y'all"
Gorvenalus says, "Yes it has been...Mother Krisha is not taking this too well either but she does have something to distract her now at least"
The squirrel frowns. "What's all this about rats?" His tail flicks irritably.
Gaheris draws out a chair at the table to sit as he talks "A group of vermin got spotted t'the south 'eadin' north. Might be nothin' but the word about t'champion bein' gone might be gettin' around so they could be comin' 'ere...They'll 'ave a nasty surprise if they do between us otters, the GUOSIM, Ferravale lot and now the Long Patrol waitin' t'greet 'em though"
Gorvenalus nods "Yes we will be ready when they thought we would not be."
Lacota harrumps. "I had a feeling the news would spread, of course. This is a vulnerable moment... But, Martin is still with us, I'm sure..."
Gaheris taps his claws on the table as he thinks. He's not good at remaining still "Well, y'should probably still prepare for the possibility of a siege. They ain't likely t'get in but it wouldn't 'urt t'be ready t'ave 'em camped out on the doorstep"
Gorvenalus says, "We are good on supplies and we have our orchards and crops as well, we should be fine"
At that moment the large front door swings open, and five bedraggled-looking hares enter the Great Hall. The sun is setting outside and long shadows criss-cross the floor at different angles.
