Krisha had just got done with a class with the dibbuns, before that a short class with a group of young redwall novices, she now had some free time, or  so she thought till she was asked to come to the great hall.

In the great hall was tea, blackberry scones, apple slices and some small honey cakes. Matilda sat in a chair with Brother Gorvenalus and a couple others.

Krisha sighed and sit down “So..what's going on now..something happen I need to know?”

Gorvenalus speaks “Nothing has happened, it's just been decided not to have the  autumn feast..do to the  Abbot not feeling up to it. We have had times when a feast has not happened,  only a couple times so yes its rare...it only means the winter feast will be extra nice.”

Matilda nods” Though naming the season could still happen.We will wait and see”

Krisha nods “Understood and I am sure the abbey will understand.”

Gorvenalus smiles “I am sure they will, how are you doing Mother Krisha with everything that’s happened?”

Matilda looks curious as well”Your not..overworking yourself or stressing out are you?”

Krisha shakes her head, “No..maybe a little a week or so ago but now that the harvest is in and stored, things are better. I have still done my Badger Mother duties and been helping with the Abbot duties as well, though Abbot Benar has been able to handle some of the paper work and go over scrolls.”

Gorvenalus  smiles “Which reminds me..I found several recipes, if he still wants to find one he was looking for.He didnt state which one and perhaps it can still be made for the winter feast...if the right one was found.I tried to find something that was different and not repeated a lot.”He pats a pile of scrolls.”I can put them back once he is done looking them over”

Krisha nods and takes the scrolls “I will give them to him, Brother Gorvenalus …”She nods to Matilda”I need to head to the market, get a couple things there.like to tag along?”

Matilda smiles “Of course. A walk will be nice while the weather is not cold”

“That and the outdoor market closes soon and won't be open till mid-spring, one will need the Ferravale one after that.” Gorvenalus says.

=====some hours Later=====

Krisha had dropped the scrolls off with Benar and now was heading back from the Market with some herbs for the kitchens, even a couple for the infirm and she made sure to get the best prices, one she even for lower than expected so all in all it was a good afternoon and so she was heading back with the champion.

Matilda keep watch as there was a small group of  Order beasts with them to help pull along a cart or two of the supplies.

Off to the side of the road was two weasels and a tall fox who seemed in charge of the other two”Ok simple ...you listen to me and we get free stuff.”The weasels nodded as the fox hmmms”Take out the badger first, then the hedge pig, the rest will likely surrender or run and we have ourselves what we want..go”

Krisha keep to the front and let Matilda keep to the back, she didn't have any weapons, visible ones anyways.

Matilda of course had Martin the Warrior’s blade with her, she did most times she was outside the abbey and it was rare she didn’t have it. She carefully looked back and forth and behind her every so often, it was sundown after all and it seemed just a little too calm.

It was then the two weasels attacked! Of course the fox joined in and it was 3 against one odds for the badger !A weasel on  each side and the fox in the front.

Krisha gasped as the fox made her stumble backwards, the two weasels were also a surprise but she ducked a blade and punched out at the other weasel.

The order beasts froze and started to back away but there wasn’t too much they could do and they looked unsure whether to run.4 order beasts and a 2 novices total.

Matilda was quickly alerted to trouble and raced to the front of the cart.

“A badger without a weapon and easily started? What fun” The fox states as he lunges forward, the one weasel gets a punch to the side of the jaw and spits blood, the other one snears “Thats my brother ...I’ll show ya!” A cutlass in paw he jumps to her side while the fox lunges forwards.

Another set of eyes seemed to see the trouble , all is quiet till the sound of an carefully positioned arrow is whistling through the air towards that weasel on the side!

Krisha  moves back and sideways.A arm goes to block the fox’s blade aiming for the handle.

The weasel that spited blood grins as he knows he is not paid attention to and goes to stab the badger in the back...well he would of  had a successful jit but he stops short and falls sort of forwards and to the side in an odd angle and that arrow is in his back.

Matilda arrives and narrows her eyes, she starts to shout a warning she knows will be too late and blinks when she sees the arrow and tightens her grip on the blade  unsure if its friend of foe as she doesn't see the archer at all.

The archer is close and appears near the badger.”TTake this wot”It's a hare maid by the voice and she hands a saber to the badger, if she will take it that is.”Two against two…”

Krisha tenses up a little when the weasel falls almost against her back and almost trips, she keeps her balance just barely and jumps a little at the voice, and there is a ..saber?She just nods and takes the blade going to block any moves the fox might have.

Which is a great idea as that fox just tried to stab the badger in the chest! The fox is a bit peeved off now, he nods to the weasel “Just kill them both already!”

Matilda walks up, Martin the warrior blade in paw “3 to 2..and no way in…”She snorts, good thing no dibbuns are around that last word was a bit...yeah.

Krisha snorts and backs up, wait she can use a blade? She does get into a defensive stance...she knows how to fight?

The beats with the cart just watch and frown,not much they want to do and it's best to just stay out of the way.

The fox smirks “Now this is more like it..a fight!” He lunges again at the badger and lets the weasel  attack the hedgehog..the hare seems forgotten for now as most archers can’t do too well close up .

The hare backs up to the  beasts by the cart “Hallo all,  jolly good night for a market trip hmms? See I sort of took something from their camp...so they dislike me and they like to steal from travelers ...then vermin bandits go figure.”

Matilda slices at the weasel with the skills of a trained fighter, a graceful sort of dance like state.

Krisha indeed does know how to block a blade from the fox, a kick to the gut and a slice to his arm, she is trying to injure but not outright kill the fox but she still shows she has fighter skills, true she hasn't used them in a little while.

The fox gets a good slice to his shoulder and snarls at the badger, a slice and the blade is blocked, but another quick slice. The weasel gets stabbed in the chest but the champion and before the weasel can recover to strike again he gets a slice to the throat and ...is dead on the road.

The hare maid chuckles, she grins at the fox “pay attention to the badger huh..hmmmms...forgot little old me wot”A way positioned arrow again and first at the fox when the right moment opens.

Matilda kicks at the weasel and quickly looks to see the fox, narrows her eyes and  angles the blade and goes to make a deadly slice.

Krisha gasps and blocks most of the fox’s blade, the tip does get her chin but it's only a small cut.She then kicks at the fox again and jumps backwards again.

The fox is now in a rage! Both his weasels dead and this badger will not go down, the kick knocks him back, the arrow gets his shoulder as he yells out in pain and lunges again...stopping short as the hedgehog slices him in the chest, he errrks and drops his cutlass and then falls sideways, a couple gasping breaths and then is still...and dead.

The hare maid nods “Well..that was exciting...Zeldove Quickpaws..at ye service..” A paw is offered to share.

Matilda first checks on Krisha “You ok Mother Krisha?”

“Krisha!!” A voice rings out, It’s Ferro..out of the infirm and on the road.

Xander is also here, having seen the fight from a short distance and slows a little, head tilted “Krisha knows how to use a sabeer?!”

Krisha nods “I am fine just a cut to the chin.”She hands the saber back to the hare and smiles “Mother Krisha….”She smiles and hugs Ferro, “Father...I am ok, don’t worry..why are you out and about?You should be resting...and it's COLD outside”

Zeldove at first aims an arrow and then..a shocked confused look “Ummm..father?” Ok she can figure that one out later, clearly the monitor is on their side? She relaxes..sort of…”You beasts are..odd ones”

Ferro hugs back and nods “Yesssssss ssssssshe wassssssssss taught by me”He rolls his eyes and  shrugs “I wassssssss worried and the abbey isssss right there”He points, it is like maybe 5 mintues away and it's not too...cold. Ok it's a little cold but he has a thick  cloak on, he should be fine that long.

Xander nods, well a surprise and a smile “Well guess I have one less..worry..then”

Krisha smiles “I..well I have my secrets , but so do you so we are even Xander and yes I can defend myself..father made sure after the..well first tribe attack, even some before that I can use a blade and a staff, I just..dislike it.”

Matilda smiles “It's useful..the Badgermother knowing how to fight some and defend herself is good, if something were to ever happen to me..the Badgermother is in charge of defenses ..lets hope its never needed..Oz was in charge of defenses once I read..lucky he didn't end up fighting..unlike O Krisha knows more of fighting it seems…”She nods to the hare “I am The Redwall Champion...Matilda...this is Xander..and Ferro.”

Xander ads “Uncle Oz could kick one’s butt with a staff though” He smiles at Krisha and hugs her, he is glad to not have to worry about her as much now, one less thing to stress over...its good, very good in fact and will help him greatly.

Zeldove nods “Champion of Redall...whoa…..so that's..wow! Martins blade...that's so neat!” She nods to the monitor and the other badger.

Ferro gives a simple nod “I am heading inssssssside”He frowns, ok the cold is getting to him and there is a fireplace in the great hall.

Krisha nods “Let's get things inside and we can talk more.” She will make sure the supplies are taken where they need to go once inside, then reports to Abbot Benar and goes to the Great Hall where the others likely are.

Xander is here resting on a chair he uses sometimes.

Zeldove is, of course, she is a hare, soi she is..sampling some good abbey food, like 3 plates so far and a couple mugs of drink..cider maybe.

Ferro is curled up close to the fireplace...asleep looks like so best not bother him .

Matilda nods a hello “Mother Krisha…”

Krisha smiles and sits in her chair, a giggle at the haremaid “I hope  Friar Lacota knows of our hare guest”

Xander nods “He does”He says quietly “Fairly sure of it….”

Matilda chuckles, she looks at Xander “You ok Xander? Want to talk?”

Zeldove nods “Jolly excellent food here!” She grins “Most excellent..Xander ‘ere was speaking of the Mossflower Defenders”

Krisha nods “It's a good  group and he is leader after all” She looks at Xander “Xander?”

Xander nods as he speaks “I am gonna go to Ferravale for a bit..gotta check on the Defender base and my tavern, make sure Patch hasn't done anything...too bad. And….I think Abbot Benar is..”He frowns “Afraid of me right now...so if I am not here for..don’t know...few weeks? He can..come out of his room if he wants. I have a room/office in the tavern and Uncle Zee’s old hut I own so there is that...I will be fine and..yeah we can talk Matilda..I will talk to Angela before I head out as well…”He looks at Krisha “ In a couple days...you ok with that dear?”

Matilda nods “Alright Xander...I don’t think he is..afraid…”Then she isn't sure  of that.

Zeldove just looks..confused “Say...wot?” She decides to just..not get into this talk, she is sure she can ask Xander later “I ummm..”She picks up a pie, a whole pie she has “Gonna take my snack and fins a place to...sleep...night all” And she disappears up the stairs.

Krisha thinks and then nods “I..am ok with it.Just stay in contact with me...letter sent once a week to know how you are..write of your week or something, or just feelings..ok?”

Xander nods, “I will...just…”He sighs “Maybe after a few weeks..Abbot Benar will let me speak to him face to face and I can tell him I am sorry..face to face ...I am so very very sorry wot I did, I didn't mean it..I was ...not myself that day..”He plans to leave a letter for Benar, with wishes to speak face to face in a few weeks and how he is gonna stay in Ferrravale a little while.

Matilda sighs, well..a pie is lost, she looks back to the badgers”Me and you can walk to Ferravale together Xander, maybe even get Ferro there too, unless..he decides to stay here ...we can let him decide as it is a bit colder than it normally is right now”She shrugs probably nothing, just an annoying  extra cold  autumn night and autumn is just crazy at times.

Krisha nods slowly and yawns “I should get to bed..good night to you both”She stands, gives Xander a kiss on the cheek as she passes and then goes to bed and falls asleep soon after her head is on the pillow.
