LOG:
Patch was on his way to, well with Patch who knows where he is heading, could be anywhere really. But he is heading away from Ferravale and looking over a scroll he has writing on "So..let me see....what's needed, mmphs annoying is what is....and no Stripy ta help me"
Vilfred had decided to venture out of camp, his shoulder was feeling better and he was not one to just sit around in camp, he wanted to get a meeting done and over with, so to Ferravale he went, but not alone...he has two Shrew guards with him whom had arrows and rasipers, he had his own raisper as well.
Leigh tagged along as one, curious of the village, and two if anyone one was hurt she was not sadly the only other healer since Ash's death but a couple days ago."I don't know bout this Log-a-Log..just walking ta the gates of a vermin village we never been ta...seems..dangerous, we already have the problem at the river"
Patch of course was not watching where he was going, too busy looking at the scroll and will likely run right into those shrews.
Vilfred grins "You worry too much Leigh, I am..."And then the rat bumps into them and he kind of tumbles to the ground and blinks, that's enough right there to have the rat likely grabbed and having weapons drawn on him!
Leigh frowns and helps the Log-A-Log up and pulls him back a little as she glances at the rat, is this rat friend or foe?
Patch eyes widen, "OH!! hey watch where ya going ya.."He goes to shove the shrew, likely why he fell down and quickly learns that was a bad no no as he drops the scroll and screams, paws in the air "I I I ...wait! Watch the pointy things...lets all calm down he walked inta me..kay"Yeah right, he was the one not watching the path.
Vilfred nods "I am alright, do reax...aye..."He studies the rat and watches his shrews,"Ok no killing rat....and you walked inta me"The two guards nods"See it I did" "Yeah wot he says...wht I wanted to kill the rat".."Yeah me too"
Leigh stands close by and just listens, healer not fighter but she is also not gonna just walk away or back off.
Patch nods "Yeah..living is good, I don't plan ta harm anyone, ok..yeah..so I can just be on me merry little way..got like ale and supplies ta get fer the tavern"
Vilfred nods, seems the shrews are not letting him pass that easily "Stay fer now...I wish to speak to your chieftain, on some matters. Where is she?"
Leigh looks around, ever alert for trouble and looks back to the rat, and the gates of the city with a frown.
Patch glares at the shrews then quickly decides that's likely not a wise idea "De..chiefy? Umm....why should I take ya ta my chieftain fer...I did nothing wrong...and if think I did..sorry ya little hairballs"
Vilfred blinks and then takes a deep breath, a nod and the two guards each go to grab an arm of the rat as the Log-A-Log just calmly watches "Not wise ta anger the Guosim...rat, now the matters to speak of, between me and her, not you unless you be the head guard and if you are..I feel so very sorry for this village"
Leigh folds her arms over her chest "He..has a point ya know and if ya get injured I am not tending ta your wounds"
Patch grumbles and is wise to not try and struggle as he just hmmphs at the Log-A-Log, "She's likely in her office and no I am in charge of Stripy's tavern and he like leaves me and thar is supplies ta get and I ...ME...has to go get them..yeah some friend he is"
Vilfred nods, "Then you can take us to this office then, one matter is most important, there is other matters of course but a new one has come up..recently" One guard is like "De rude rat?" The Log-A-Log shakes his head "Not de rat, but yes he is a rude one...but no de river issues" The two guards ohhhhhhhh.
Leigh frowns "Can we not speak of that, Ash is dead cause of it, and it killed a marten and a lizard, not that I care about them but Ash was my friend"
Patch gets a bit of a look of worry now, maybe fear "What...whats at the river? Some horde..some insane warlord again, no..no way I refuse to have the tavern get blown up a 3nd time!"
Vilfred tilts his head "3nd..time?" He sighs "Just led way to office...please and you can even stay while we explain"The two guards look at their Log a Log like...really,does he have to stay.
Leigh nods "Yeah listen to the Log-A-Log and...all will be ok"
Patch sighs , he best not regret this as he points the way through the village and to the chieftain’s office "Also ya let me knock and oh...she has this pet snake, just a warning, and ya wait till she says who is it, ok and its Patch, my name..is Patch"
"The name be rat....."He is stopped by the Log-a-Log and snorts, Log-A-Log nods "Patch then...I am Log-a-Log of the Guosim and the healer is Leigh and my two guards 'ere are Adam and Teddy."
Leigh asks, "Does he really need our names?" She frowns as they walk through the village, this place makes her nervous even if a few keep their distance."
Patch nods, oh he knows who these shrews are and that even though they are small, they can be violent, for sure if they think their Log-a-LOG is in any sort of trouble, he shoos away a tall fox and finally makes it to the city hall "Her office is in 'ere...now ya best wait, ok...she IS chieftain after all and I never know what mood she will be in"
Vilfred looks at the two guards with him and shrugs, and back to the rat, wait did he say..."Snake?" The two guards tense up "'She has a pet...snake?"
Leigh frowns "W...What.....maybe we can forget this trip, is it THAT important aLog-A-Log?"
Patch looks at the shrews "Ummm..yes but it's not like it gonna....eat you, it eats like really bad....criminals and that's only rarely and it likes cheese...long as ya dont have cheese on ya, your be...just fine"He hmmms, knock...don't knock "So..what's this river thing and ya else ya here refers?"
Vilfred hmmmms and sits down, the two shrew guards stay by him, he then speaks "Why tell you?" He says "Asked to speak to chieftain, but as said you can stick around too"
Leigh says, "I don't like this place lets not stay too long, ok"
Patch groans "Cause...I'm curious...don't want to haf to worry about death coming to get me...kay"
Vilfred says, "Fine....we let her know Guosim is by river near the village, we do not plan to do any...attacking , long as Ferravale don't attack us...we may or may not be interested in a wee little bit of...trade and a Pike can not come out of the water or it is one that gets death from either no water...or beasts wishing to help it get death brought to it"
Leigh frowns as the pike is spoken about "We have to do something about that thing and soon, even if it's not always near our part of the river, it's still..in the river"
Patch widen and he falls out of the chair and looks at the ceiling "Pike..in de river.....great, something with teeth that wants to eat beasts, just wonderful"
Vilfred says, "Do not worry ...Patch was it?....just no swimming till then"He grins, the other couple chuckle at the rat"So..chieftain is where?""
Patch says, "Errrr...."He snorts and looks at the office door as he sighs and knocks."And now..we wait and see..."
Vilfred shrugs "Wait is fine, but for how long?" He is curious and he knows his shrews don't want to stay away too long.
Leigh frowns, this hallway is, well it's better than outside at least as she sighs and sits by Log-A-LOg and the two guards, shrew guards not guards from Ferravale.
Patch frowns and goes to knock again and clears his throat"Umm..Chieftain..Blisa?" Oh he is using her name, she is usually chiefy.
"Um, Patch, I'm right here." Chieftain Blisa is standing behind the group, holding a scroll in her paw. Her main bodyguards, Ferdinand the ferret and Clarissa the tattooed rat, are standing behind her, looking at the visitors curiously, but in a friendly manner. "I was at my house, eating lunch. How long have you been here?" The petite white cat walks confidently past the shrews and the spy rat and enters her office. She beckons her visitors to enter as her bodyguards take their places on stools behind her desk, which she sits at. "I'm Blisa Wyrmtamer. How may I help you?"
Vilfred starts to speak and the two shrew guards sort of seem nervous about the tattooed rat and stay close to him, he shoos them away at least a little and rubs his shoulder as he nods to the chieftain "Log-A-Log ...and this is me Gusim, we are not many but we are mighty. We come cause of some matters and one matter has come up and still be much important."
Patch turns around "OH...errrrr.....yes visitors...."He goes in last and stays by the doorway.
Leigh stays close to the Log-A-Log and frowns, she will let him speak as...ok she is still nervous of this village."
Blisa smiles, setting down her scroll and folding her paws on the top of her desk. "I was actually spent part of my kittenhood living in Redwall, and I have spent much of my life reading the histories of Mossflower. I'm glad we have a Guosim branch in Mossflower again, especially one that doesn't seem to just automatically hate vermin species simply because we're vermin." She glances at the nervous shrews surrounding the Log-a-Log. "I would offer you a seat, but I rarely get visitors to my office, so I'm afraid I am bereft of chairs. Would you like some tea, though?" Ferdinand stands and gets some little mugs from a small cabinet. There is a teapot close to the fireplace.
At shrew guards shake their heads now, Log-A-Log frowns and speaks quietly"Give place chance......is not too bad.." "Is too".."Is not.."One shrew gets a slap on the ear as Log -a-Log turns back around and nods "Here on matters...one is very important, others are too and tea is ok."
Patch nods "Yes..tea for guests"He frowns "Yeah mention de river thing of death first..ok, and that ruins any plans I had, then again the market is away from that river of death..so I am fine on getting supplies fer de tavern"
Leigh just stays quiet, she isn't one of the fighters she is a healer but frowns a little on the word matters but will let him bring it up.
Blisa cocks an eyebrow as Ferdinand hands the Log-a-Log a mug of tea. "River of death?" The rat gets ones of those 'why have you not told me yet?' glares that he probably recognizes by now. "Why don't you just tell me everything, right from the start, Log-a-Log? I'm ready to listen." In truth, she's a little irritated that the shrew hasn't just jumped in to what he has to say, but she's trying to hide that irritation with her presumably understandable irritation with Patch. I mean, if anyone has really talked to Patch for any length of time, they'll know why she's unhappy with him. Ferdinand hands him a mug of tea and mutters, "You better have an explanation ready for when the threwth are gone...."
Vilfred going too and looks at the rat, he already dislikes the rat for literally knocking him down earlier and takes a deep breath "Yes a pike is in the river..it has slain a shrew of mine.....as well as some marten and lizard that wished to try and steal a couple of our log boats, both log boats were damaged, one beyoung repair...the pike was spotted a couple days ago...other matters was perhaps getting some..trade in, but that can wait. I also plan to tell the Camp Willow otters of the Pike...just I am unsure of where their camp is and I heard most of them were..away for now"
Patch frowns "I..not like I SAW IT!"He points and sits in a corner and mutters.
Leigh watches the rat and jumps a little when he screams, o..k as she backs up just a little and keeps an eye on him now.
Ferdinand just rolls his eyes and returns to his place behind the Chieftain, staying standing and leaning against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. Blisa's eyes widen. "A /pike/? Oh, great," she muttered sarcastically, scribbling on a piece of scrap paper. "Have you told Redwall about this yet? If not, I can send them a messenger on a bird. I don't know where Camp Willow is, either, to be honest. They hate vermin with a passion, so we've never even tried to contact them. Redwall may be able to help you with that, though." She'll deal with Patch later. Let him brood for a little bit.
Vilfred keeps an eye on Patch,"Rat is...annoying said was snake here, see no snake...."He clears his throat and nods "Me and one of my shrews can find and tell the otters yes, and the pike is bad issue for anyone going to river, hard to say how far along river it goes"
Patch just mutters and looks over at the shrews "Yeah..rude hairball, she has a snake...trust me..."He mutters "Annoying hairballs...."
Leigh glares at the rat "You are rude..rat and need manners"
Blisa glares at Patch, then turns to the shrew Chief. "Actually, I do have a pet snake. I keep him at home, though. He strikes a bit too much fear into my villagers. His favourite place to sleep is in my basement." As the rat insults the shrews, she says calmly, as if offering him more tea, "How would you like to give my snake a visit, Patch? I'm sure he'd LOVE to see you." Her bodyguards smile wryly. Turning her attention back to the shrews, the cat adds, "There may be a book at Redwall that has that sort of information about pikes in it. Were the longboats that were destroyed the only ones you had? We may have a bit of extra lumber we can give you if you need it. It wouldn't be much, but we'd be happy to help if we can."
Vilfred keeps his calm, the two shrews that act as guards seem to....not be as calm but will not attack unless their chair says to, he looks at the tea and sips it, a nod"Lumber would be good for building a couple things, we have a badger helping us build or...will soon"
Patch blinks "Say...wot now? I don't want to see Basil, no way....."He decides its best to be quiet or better yet maybe leave, but he will wait, for now.
Leigh chuckles a little, let the snake talk to the rat, she has been mostly quiet, and now smiles a little "Yes our main goals are the infirm and mess hall, we have a couple huts and a couple more working on, and finished the storage building this morning"
Blisa thinks for a moment, ignoring the spy rat as she taps her charcoal pencil on her desk. "I'm not sure we have enough lumber for any buildings, unfortunately. How are you on herbs and bandages, though? And food supplies? We can definitely help with healing supplies, and I'm sure Redwall can help with food. We also have a Blacksmith. He's very skilled, and we can ask him and see if he can help you with anything." She refrains from mentioning that he's a monitor lizard. They don't need to know that right now.
Vilfred nods as he is still, somewhat calm and calms his guards "Yes all is..good, we slowly get supplies but our camp is new and wood is not too hard to find in woods, lumber is just...slow getting but we shall get it.Any other help in supplies of herbs...healing needs would be good. Leigh is one .."He frowns "Is my..healer of the group"Thats right they lost a healer.
Patch looks over and just snorts, "I am outta here." Course he can be stopped if she rather he...stay afterwards
Leigh nods "Some jars for herbs would be nice, as well as maybe a way to make a shelf, to place jars of herbs and such for when needed"
"Stay right where you are, Patch." Blisa says cooly, and he'd better listen. "Oh, I'm confident we have jars to spare. And we definitely have enough lumber to spare for some shelves. The Infirmary is the most important building in any village. We'd be happy to help with that." She notes the correction about the Healers and adds, "If I see any shrews who aren't part of the Guosim, I'll make sure to send them your way as possible recruits. Who knows? Maybe a Healer is come."
Vilfred smiles "That would be most welcome indeed..and yes we...lost a healer..couple days ago"One can make a guess what happens to the healer,he nods to his shrews "We need to head back to camp, before it is dark..."He nods "Thank you for meeting with us"
Patch stops and frowns, he does step aside for the shrews though and folds his paws behind his back as he waits.
Leigh bows and follows her chieftain on out of the office and back to camp.
Blisa smiles as the shrews go, then turns it into a scowl at the rat. "Patch, why were you insulting our guests? Especially when they're basically legendary with those rapiers they carry? Or were you just ignoring the sharp point bits of metallic death?" Ferdinand smirks, and Clarissa (who had stayed quiet and seated when she noticed that the shrews were nervous around her), shakes her head. "I wouldn't want one o' those beasties mad at me, that's for sure."
Patch says, "Yeah Yeah....I was trying to read a scroll and walk into their..LOg a ...thing and they get all..oh tis a rat and lucky they didn't stab me, asked where de chief was..so I brought them to your office and yeah..they also said their little group had no plans ta attack unless some reason we attack them...which..no"He wants to be clear "I do not plan on going near the furballs and their..bright colored outfits what's with that seen a mile away"
Blisa rolls her eyes. "That doesn't give you permission to insult them, Patch, especially when they're a guest within the village. Really, Patch, you try my patience like nothing else." Ferdinand shakes his head. "They wear bright outfitth to prove that they're not afraid of the enemy. Being eathily thpotted can actually inthpire fear into your enemieth, becauthe they know you're not afraid of them."
Patch shrugs "So...can I go now?" He would just walk out but he knows better than to do that, he is no fool.
"Do you understand why you shouldn't insult guests?" Blisa smiles, but it doesn't reach her eyes, which are hard and slightly angry. "Because I'd /love/ to hear what that reason is."
Patch frowns as he looks at her "I...ummm...cause it makes them moody and they could like...stab you, not my fault really walking into..them, least they didn't stab me then they been sorry..act of war if did...right?
Blisa sighs heavily. "Why were you walking and reading in the first place? The only safe place to do that in this area is inside your own house. Y'know what, don't answer that. The answer to my question is that is it better to make friends than to make enemies, and when you insult beasts, you only turn them into enemies. But perhaps that's beyond you," she grumbles under her breath, obviously grumpy at his answer.
Patch says, "Got enough..friends, why have shrews as friends, they argued over stabbing me or not and..Log-a-..thing stopped them from stabbing me and what about the killer fish in the river, I mean I guess it wont come..on land but...still""
Blisa closes her eyes, her lips pursed into a thin line. The rat can't see it, but her tail is getting poofy from frustration. "I was right, it is beyond you. But let me try to explain: The more friends we have, the more friends we can call upon when another crazy lunatic comes into Mossflower to try and conquer us. And when we have more friends fighting with us, we'll be more likely to, y'know, NOT DIE when the battle comes." She opens her eyes and smiles dangerously, her fingertips touching and making arches out of her paws. "But perhaps you'll understand better after spending the night in the cell here, hmm? You'll have a chance to think about it in solitude, with no one to distract you. Doesn't that sound lovely?" Clarissa, taking a hint, opens the door to the cell. Will the other rat take the hint, too?
Patch looks at the cell and frowns, then chuckles "Oh..Oh I get it, your being funny tis a joke..hee heee..good one chiefy" Joke..right?..Right? Though he isn't too sure really"Ummm...I should...go"He walks, rather quickly to the doorway leading to the hall.
Blisa springs over her desk with lightning speed and incredible agility, catching up with the fleeing rat with spectacular ease. She goes to grab him and kick him in the calf, then roughly guide him to the cell, where Clarissa will slam the door shut on him. "Remember to think about what I said!" The cat tells him sweetly, then gathers up all her paperwork and everything and leaves for her house, followed by her bodyguards, Ferdinand pocketing the key to the cell after making sure it's locked. Oh, and was no one told bring Patch any food in the cell? Well, then, guess he'll be hungry when Blisa lets him out at about 9 the next morning! (She's usually there earlier in the day, she just wanted to give him plenty of time to think about things. Like how he really shouldn't be ticking her off....)
Patch gasps and is suddenly in the cell "Hey...wait...I thought..."He blinks "Come back!!" He sighs and sits on the cot in here and looks at the bars, great he is stuck in here, least the tavern has workers still but he dislikes being in a cell, yep he will surely be doing a LOT of thinking.
