Well, That's...Not the BEST way to make a new friend!

Who:

Patch-spy, tavern worker, ale maker

Xander- Leader of Mossflower Defenders

Esen- New to the area, sort of a wanderer

a couple spoofed squirrels

===Somewhere in the woods by the abbey==-

Patch disliked rain, he would so just head back if he had it his way but who would miss a feast at the abbey, surely not this rat.

Xander was checking on some Mossflower Defenders and seeing if they had wanted to come to the feast, a couple squirrels decided to join him, others said they might wander over and a grumpy otter with a sore paw just flat said nope. So here he was walking along the path and then the rain was starting, well least it wasn't too bad yet.

Esen was asleep by a dying campfire, she had yet to sleep in the abbey, too many strangers she didn't know .Good thing there is no vermin around seeing as its nighttime now and the sun set a couple hours ago.

Patch sniffed the air and hmmms, he shrugged, not his business and he seen Xander "Stripy!..Where ya been wander off and don't tell me a thing you don't...and..whats with de eye patch?"

Xander laid a paw on the patch over his eye and sighed "Remember the...fight, I mean I don't but it was injuried then, I do know I didn't get it checked as much as I should of...ok long story short, it's...its gone and so I have a permit eye patch."He motions to come on before the rain gets worse when he hmmms notices camp fire light and walks towards it.

Esen is not that deep of a sleeper, and the camp fire is nearly out thanks to the rain as she stirs in her sleep a little slowly waking up.

Patch blinks "Hey...ya avoid campfires not go towards them Stripy..what if tis a horde or some ..some beast ta tear ya limp ta limp and leave nothing to even ID ya with."He points to the abbey"Look..tis dry in thar..hey!!" And a loud thunder and lighting strikes across the sky as Patch screams, and.....

DOWN POUR OF RAIN!

Xander frowns and blinks "A..badger?" He seems surprised there is any badgers around as he kicks wet dirt over the campfire and goes to tap Esen on the shoulder "Hey...miss?"

And she may be a badger but it's dark and she was half awake, surprise fully awake now! The badger maid growls and goes to lock her paw around his wrist as she stands, and if she succeeds flip him over her back and to the ground, pinning him to the ground a craving knife to the throat and a growl...then a gasp as she gets a good look and  backs away"Oh my...your a..."She drops the craving knife "I almost stabbed you in the throat!!"

Patch seems not sure if he should go in the woods or not and frowns at the sound of...fighting?" Oh wondera full!!" He sighs and ...the abbey or the woods...the abbey or the....oh heck with it the woods.

Xander eyes widen as he looks up at the badger maid and eeeps, "WAIT!!" He tenses up as he would of had no chance to block that had she stabed him and that's a rather bad place to get stabbed. He scoots back and stands slowly, paws up "I am a friend...trust me..My name is Xander Winters, my wife is Bagdermother at the abbey that's like...over thar"He points to where one can likely see part of the taller walls maybe the bell Tower a little, as it starts to pour down rain he frowns "Inside is a lot..dryer and sorry to scare you like that"

Esen frowns, she sees Patch and snorts, looks back at Xander "I'm..sorry..I thought you were some robber or..worse, I am not the best at...well fighting" Umm she isn't? She looks to the abbey and nods "I..yeah that sounds like a plan, thank you...Xander and I did hear there was some..Summer Feast though my luck I missed it and I had told a friend I made I would get them something."

Patch slows and looks between them and backs up a little, "Umm..hey?"

Xander nods and smiles "Its tomorrow and you can come..."He nods to Patch "That's Patch he wont hurt you...he may annoy ya but that's it...come on we can get you a towel, sit by the fire place and a nice warm meal..and a room to stay in while your there."

Esen studies the rat, and nods.At the mention the feast is still on she smiles "Really?!" She grins and gets her cloak she was laying on, double makes sure the fire is out and follows them, "lead the way"

Patch rolls his eyes "Anooying? Me?..Your the one who is..."A loud  thunderclap!" EEEEEK!!!!...Wait on me..!!!" He quickly follows after them, yeah inside is better and food, yeah Redwall food is the best!
