He's Dying Isn't He?-Redwall Log

Oz- Papa Oz...former Badger Mother as he passed the title on down before his coma

Xander-Leader of Mossflower Defenders and owner of Redthorn Tavern in Ferravale

A spoofed healer maid

Log:

Oz lays on the infirm cot, motionless except for very weak, sometimes seeming struggled somehow.He has sometimes shivered, then stopped, has he woken? No not since his talk with Krisha.He also has a high fever, low pulse and maybe even barely really breathing.   

Xander got to the abbey in record time and walks into the infirm and frowns, he goes to sit by his uncle and takes his paw."Uncle Oz?"
   
A healer walks over "He is in a deep deep coma, I am unsure he hears or not...he, he has stayed about the same till this morning and his breathing became worse, and his pulse lower, there is a fever but it could be from when he was coughing up...he coughed up some blood the day he..."She frowns"Did Benar get the message?"
   
Xander looks over at the healer and nods "Yeah...he will be back in 2-3 days..unless he is needed sooner...wot..wt happen to my Uncle to have him be like...?"   

The healer looks at Oz and checks on him, "He was found in the orchards...he had left the pond to get some shade, maybe 10 minutes..and Hawkeye went to check on him and he was...unconscious and signs he had coughed up..a lot of blood, he was brought to the infirm and did wake up for maybe 30 minutes and then just....everything just went downhill, he went limp and sliped into the coma and has not woken since,,,and,,and he..." She frowns   

Xander asks, "And he wot, please wot happen?"   

The healer frowns "He begged to speak to Krisha....he could barely talk and was even barely conscious but we..allowed it, it was very...very short but he...he named her Mother Krisha then his breathing and pulse droped and he...well went into his coma, we done all we can to wake him but it seems...he may not wake at all, he's getting worse not better"   

Xander frowns, he feels the tears "He's....dieing isn't he?"   

The healer is not sure how to answer that, "I...he might be, I don't know but we are doing what we can, but we may well be losing him"   

Xander fights back tears "So..Krisha is badger mother now? He..he wouldn't of gave her the title if..if he wasn't...you said he begged to talk to her even in a seriously weaken state..he's dying and he..he knew it..he's not gonna wake up..I don't want him to die..he..he can't..wot if he dies before the abbot gets back?"   

Oz makes no movement, just a faint pulse and weak faint rise and fall, if your watching closely, of his chest as the healer frowns "I don't think...Martin will allow him to go till after Benar and the others get back, and everyone gets a chance at a ..a goodbye first, he's...he's barely alive and barely holding on right now to life, like by the tiny thin thread of life he holds on."

Xander sniffs and just lets the tears flood down his face, he nods slowly"I'm gonna stay here with him till dinner"   

The healer nods and goes back to her duties, but stays close by just in case.
