Two rats and a ferret spoofed by Jhan
LOG:
The area they were heading was near the cliffs, a sort of rocky place along the shoreline, not too far from the village and close to the mountain of all places, but it was not part of it, no...this was sea side sort of cave system, full of some tunnels, some caved in and others questionable. One tunnel looked fine, and a faint glow of a possibe fire maybe, or oil lamp seemed to come from it in the far back. Also left to guard was 3 vermin, of the 3 two were rats and one was a ferret, "Where is everyone...they shoulda been back by now"
It took a little time for Greg to see that Zolomon was safe with healers and then to find a runner to send word back to the mountain to update them and make sure someone knew where he was going next because absent a senior officer happening to turn up Greg was going to march in to trouble. Or at least sneak in to it, quietly, once it was dark. He keeps close to the cliff wall in the shadows and moves forwards carefully. He counted three vermin, he liked those odds. So long as there wasn't an army hidden inside this may go well.
It had been awhile since Dominik had gone full hide-in-the-shadows incognito camo, the large hare's face and any other part of him that shows outside of his clothing darkened with coal so as to better hide him in the shadows. He quietly moves behind Greg, the large hare giving him a look; it is a look that normally would likely freak anyone out, though Greg is likely more than used to it by now. Giving Greg a nod to indicate that he is there and ready to cover him, Dom's eyes narrow as he stares forward, ears perking at the sound of voices. If there is one thing Dom doesn't like...especially moreso as of late...it is someone who is looking to harm Dibbuns. This could get ugly very quickly.
Jhan is in some sort of homemade cage.....he also has been crying and sort of curled up right now. The ferret just snorts as he speaks "Ya know we could just take the brat ourselfs, who needs Red and for sure the monitor..I mean whats the monitor want..lunch" The two rats shrug as if they could care less "And go..where?" The ferret just grins and looks at the young hare who whimpers.." Head a place few days down shore likes slaves...might pat a lot too..could be fun boys"
Gregorian draws his hammers and nods to Dom. He looks serious but not angry, he's worryingly calm, doing his job. He sneaks as close as he dares and signals to Dom, silently instructing him to go for the ferret and the cage before he springs out, charging one of the rats with a roar.
Dominik had decided to leave his sword at home...lucky for whoever would happen to cross his path...and the large hare had gone simply with his own two paws. It seems they had been effective enough in the past. Noting Greg's instructions, Dom gives the other hare a silent but firm nod, jaw clenching as his eyes fall upon said ferret. Moving as quietly as possible, Dom makes his way in the ferret's direction. Upon getting close enough, the massive hare reaches out his arms in an attempt to grab the ferret and pull him into the shadows; if successful, his arm slips around the ferret's throat in a chokehold type move, cutting off the oxygen as he holds on tight, glaring daggers down at the vermin as he tries dispatching him as quietly as possible.
The two rats gasp as hares suddenly come into the room, One rat draws a cutlass and the other barely manages to sidestep the hare chargeing. The ferret was looking at the cage and then narrows his eyes as he backs up, looking at Greg"Well..well...a bunny has come to...."A blade was draw and a blade was ready to make a move at the hare when he suddenly feels a large paw around his thoat and kicks backwards, in the surprise move he managed to drop his blade as he goes to try his best to get the paw off his throat as he becomes more concern with breathing than fighting.
Jhan whimpers in the cage and tries to scoot back as he watches all this start happening, he cant move back too much as the cage doesn't offer too much room to move.
Dominik does not seem to be the type to compromise to ease up when signs of weakness are shown. In fact, it is the exact opposite reaction. As the ferret kicks back at him, his footpaw strikes something that feels like he just kicked a tree. That would be Dom's leg. Gaze momentarily lowering to glance down, it eventually rises again, and the grip around the vermin's throat only tightens. Lifting up a little and pulling the ferret off the ground just enough so that his toes barely scrape against the ground, Dom squeezes with his arm, the strong appendage cutting off all bloodflow and circulation to the ferret's brain in the process. He is squeezing hard enough that if the ferret moves his head in either direction, his neck would more than likely snap like a twig. Dom's eyes rise and he stares at the Dibbun in the cage, his eyes narrowing in anger.
Gregorian provides distraction while Dom does a sneak attack, serves them right for always calling the hares bunnies. Greg hops to a halt and spins quickly back to face the rats "Yah've got somethin' of ours. Give up now and I won't break every bone in yah bodies" he threatens with a little spin of his hammers before he springs forward again, one hammer aimed to hit the rat's cutlass to one side to free up a gap for the other which he swings at the rat's shoulder.
The ferret stuggles more and the struggleing slowly comes to a stop as no air for so long is a bad thing and the ferret after another little bit just sort of goes limp. The two rats however are very much awake and ready to fight. A cutlass is blocked and a hammer is not finding a target, the other hammer slams into the rats shoulder. The 2nd rat starts to back off and then grins as he gets a dagger and chuckles flicking it at Greg!
Jhan frowns and curls up again, fighting scares him , as does beasts he doesn't know as he shivers and whimpers in the cage. Its not like he can move and bolt anywhere, he is traped in the cage.
Dominik does not drop the ferret's body as he feels him go limp; his gaze shifts over to the two attacking rats, and upon noting that the second rat is about to attack Greg, Dom hefts the ferret's body and flings him right in between where Greg stands and where the rat stands. His goal is for the ferret's body to intercept the thrown dagger. Free of the ferret now, Dom stalks toward the rat that had thrown the dagger, his eyes flashing with fury, ears lowered and flat upon his head. Lowering his head, Dom merely tries to barrel the rat over like a battering ram. Nothing too fancy here, just good ol'fashioned knock-down-drag-out!
Gregorian keeps an eye on the second rat but he makes no attempt to dodge the dagger because unlike everyone else he sees the possibility of a fight every time he leaves the mountain and doesn't just always carry his weapons at all times but he also spent a lot of time working on light armour to go under a uniform, of course he's going to be wearing it. He's a little more surprised at the flying ferret shield though and stops to blink for a second before quickly stepping back a pace away from the rat with the cutlass.
The rat with the cutlass takes the chance to stab at Greg, not knowing there is some sort of armor under the uniform he just sees a slightly distraced hare. The ferret..well gets the dagger to the chest and is for sure dead now, the 2nd rat blinks..."Oh...."And he tries to run from the tall hare only to trip over the fallen ferret body.He screams and flicks a 2nd dagger at Dominik, though his aim is not the best right now since he is in panic mode.
Jhan peeks out of teh cage to see what is happening and right away frowns and covers his eyes and starts crying. "Bad..beasts bad bad beasts"
Dominik, being as large as he is, is a relatively easy target for thrown things; it is one of his only disadvantages. However with the rat's panic and bad aim, the dagger does hit Dominik in the shoulder, though it is the handle end that strikes him and not the blade part. The dagger thuds against Dom's shoulder, then clatters to the ground. This can only mean bad things for the fallen rat, as Dom's gaze goes from the dagger, to the rat. Gritting his teeth, Dom's eyes are filled with fire as he continues to pursue the rat. Upon reaching him, he attempts to pin him down by kneeling on him. If successful, Dom begins to slam his stone-like paws down into the rat, punching and punching with as much force as he is able to. He lets out a roar that echoes throughout the caverns, and he continues to beat the ever living heck out of his foe. It is likely not a pretty thing for Jhan to see.
Gregorian may have been distracted but his instinct to step back means the blade barely hits him and what it does hit is armour plated. It harmlessly slides over Greg's gut with minimal damage to his tunic. Greg turns his eyes back to the rat and after a second there's a small smile. He moves fast, one hammer swings at arm which holds the cutlass, aiming for the elbow, the other swung toward's the rat's head.
One rat is..well....we will just go with dead thanks to Dominik, the other rat backs off, happens to glace at the other hare and the other very...dead...rat and his jaw drops and then the rat is spared any furtehr looking at the sight before him as the hammer hits his head and he slumps down onto the cave floor...lifeless. Well so much for good guards
Jhan sniffs and luckly has his eyes covered most of the time, He whimpers and his ears move a little and flatten at the quietness thats likely there or least its more quiet than it was seeing as the vermin are dead now.
Dominik continues to slam his fists down into the now-dead-and-likely-pulverized rat, his rage-fueled brain not alerting the large hare to the fact that he is in fact dead. When he finally does stop, the hare is panting heavily with the exertion of his attack, blood spattered all over the front of his clothing. His gaze lifts and looks over in Greg's direction, and after a moment the steely expression on his face breaks into a pleased and somewhat terrifying grin. His eyes narrow and he nods at his fellow patroller, before he gets up and makes his way to the cage Jhan is in. He reaches up and snaps off the door, flinging it away, and allowing Greg to retrieve the Dibbun if he so desires.
Jhan backs up a little , at first a little afraid of the hares, are they friends? Are they the..enemy maybe? His ears flatten on his head as he looks between them both.
Gregorian had cause enough blunt force injuries with his hammers over the years to know when the rat is dead and just for a second he seems satisfied before quickly wiping his hammer clean and then he sees Dom's angry smashing "Private! Control yahself!" he yells, hoping the sergeant tone might snap him out of it though he doesn't wait to see since the dibbun probably doesn't need to be watching that. He quickly heads for the cage "Jhan? We're here tah get yah out, don't worry" he says softly, trying to sound calming as he snaps the cage open with the spike of one of his hammers.
Jhan is unsure at first and then slowly crawls out and looks up at them, he reaches for whomever is closer though once picked up will pass out in thier arms.
Dominik gives Greg a nod as he gets Jhan out of the cage. He takes a look around the cave at the result of their rescue mission, the hare grinning just a little in satisfaction. "Vat should do vith mess?" he asks his superior officer, gesturing with a paw at the bodies. "Toss into sea for seagulls and fish to chew, or leave here for varning to others who might try to use cave as hideout?" Dom reaches up and pulls the cage down with relative ease, letting it clatter to the ground.
Gregorian takes the dibbun to carry back, mostly because he's covered in a lot less blood. He does give Jhan a quick look over to check for obvious injuries but with nothing bleeding he'll let the healers do a proper check when they get back to Halyard. He wrinkles his nose at the vermin after Dom's question "Leave them. If there's any more in their gang it should serve warnin' enough" Dom's interpretation of a rat pancake will probably give them nightmares "Destroy the cage, take the weapons and lets get out of here"
Dominik gives a grim nod to Greg at his decision, the large hare first pulverizing the cage, pulling it a part and tossing it down at the bodies of the fallen vermin. He then goes through the room, retrieving whatever weapons he can find. Finding a large rucksack, he deposits said weapons inside, then hefts the bag over his shoulder. Once finished with his tasks, he gives Greg another nod. "Has leetle hare? Good. Ve go now. Ees good job. Do not vant to see place again." With that, Dom trudges back in the direction they had come. Another instance of a story that will be spread far and wide by whatever vermin happen to stumble upon the scene.
Gregorian waits by the cave entrance with the dibbun just incase he wakes up and looks around. He's seen it all in the fight but Greg doesn't want to make it worse plus he's looking out to make sure no one's coming. He nods to Dom as soon as he's done "Is good job" he repeats before going to lead the way back to the village.
