Hanzi was walking around the woods, today so far had been a rather good day, in his eyes anyways as he had robbed three mice, and two weasels as they traveled, he got in a fight and killed a vole, didn't leave a dead vole around though he buried the vole somewhere in the woods.

Xander was out checking on things like the Tavern and the new Mossflower Defender's Base, both seemed to be coming along nicely and might even open sooner. He also decided to have a bit of time with family. Just him,Krisha and Northstar.

Krisha smiled, the woods were relaxing to be in and she needed to get away from some worry”Stay close Northstar”

Northstar nods “Ok..Mommy” She says and smiles. She was growing up and by the time the autumn Feast came she would be of novice age. But right not chasing a small butterfly was a fun idea.

Hanzi quickly went behind a tall tree when he heard the badgers and peeked around. He watched the cub and chuckles,”Well well..if it isn't the badger cub...too bad certain beasts didn't learn of you sooner”

Xander glaces over at Northstar and smiles as he sits down by Krisha “She is ok, trying to catch a butterfly, guess some are slowly showing up now it seems. I am glad Spring is here finally, Winter was...well annoying”

Krisha nods “I agree, a little too cold for me but now its warmer and knowing beasts here in few weeks its gonna be ..it's too hot....it only stay in between a short while, early Spring and late Autumn.”

Northstar meanwhile has stayed fairly closely, then loses the butterfly as it flies higher and she sighs.

Hanzi smirks and speaks quietly “Lose..something, such a pity...it's hard to lose something in life.”

Zolomon was in the woods doing some runner drills and practicing jumping over logs and old tree stumps, seeing how long it takes to get to one point or another, with or without a heavy pack on. He has yet to see anyone else in the woods just yet.

Xander noded as he lays down and looks at the sky and sighs”Not sure I want Spring to go away and turn to Summer. Then not like I could stop it and who knows maybe “He smiles “We need another like few days just us and we can see if uncle Oz can come. Do something as a family before....”

Krisha frowns a little “I don't know if its wise for him to go to far from the abbey. The clearing is far enough and yes I know you two came out earlier to talk, figured it was important and was not just about finding a little bit of Mint leaves to hold him over till Friar Lacota gets some more Mint from the market or a passing merchant”

Northstar meanwhile looks around and sees the hare and smiles, hares are nice as she walks over curious of him “Who are you?”

Hanzi grins as he speaks “Follow me and find out...hmmms.” Perfect the badger trusts him cause he is a hare and he can look friendly when he wants to, like now. He chuckles brightly”I am Hanzi..”He smiles adjusts his cloak, briefly showing his tattoo.

Zolomon is fairly close to Hanzi but not so close he would see him yet, but he is taking a break and looks around eyes and his one ear open for noises around him, ever alert.

Xander nods “We..talked a little and yeah we did get some mint, but talked about how he was proud of what I became, how I earned the Blade of the Northwind Storms and he knew one day I would pass it on to someone else one day...maybe”

Krisha stays quiet for a while, “I..don't know. We can let her decide if she becomes a Redwall Novice or some warrior maid later in life.”She looks to where...where..her eyes turn to concern “Where is Northstar?” Concern in her voice.

Northstar is meanwhile talking to Hanzi”Hanzi?”Why is that name a little familiar, she is not sure, she looks at his arm, “Flower...”

Hanzi blinks and looks at the..”Oh that yeah, pretty huh?” He decides to show her cause, well he wants to show it off.”Use to be a lot of beasts with this, they all died...one real powerful beast took them over for a while, but they ..well some..left, though they failed..I want to help it come back...”

Zolomon ear moves, voices and one familiar one that causes some distress, he knows that voice anywhere as he makes sure he has some arrows..two but that's ok for now as he walks along and soon spots Hanzi , but he also sees...”Oh...bally well not good” He scans the area to see where he is..ok good.

Xander is sitting up and standing up right away as he looks to where she was and frowns, “She couldn't of went far, she...stay here I will go look for her”Ok he is worried but he won;t show it in front of Krisha as he quickly heads off. He is likely too worried he tells himself as it's fine, the woods are ok and safe. But some flashbacks of when he was around her age, maybe a little younger, and he wandered off in a game of tag and hide in go seek only to end up with Jedrick for over 4 seasons of his life.”Northstar!!!”

Krisha starts to follow him and then sits back down and just nods “Ok dear.”She will stay where they were and sit, if there is trouble no since in her finding it also.

Northstar nods as she looks at the rose tattoo and frowns a little “It black..why it..is it black?” She turns when she hears Xander's voice and starts to rush off”I got go...bye”

Hanzi reaches out and grabs her arm, his smile is gone and so is Mr. cheerful “Oh...no your not gonna go anywhere, your gonna stay with me...Kalypso might be intretsed in knowing your around, course took awhile to put two and two together...I mean Ormaz loses a chance to have a...what pet?Slave...his own little weapon at the same time a badger cub is adopted at the abbey but none other than the leader of the Mossflower Defenders...I mean only fair to return to the Blackrose what is..thier's after all”Oh such coldness in his voice, evil tone, yeah way to go scare a dibbun but he is loving it!

Zolomon fires an arrow at Hanzi, not one ment to kill, just a warning but if he could clip an ear that be grand as he then allows himself to come into view” So Kalypso is alive? Well least she bally well has the sense to not be on the Western Shores then again...can't say Mossflower is wise to visit this time of the seasons...oh and if ya don't release de dibbun the next arrow will not miss, it will find something bit more deadly location to hit .”

Hanzi gasps as one of his ears is suddenly pined to a tree, he slowly turns to see the other hare and chuckles”Is that supposed to make me shake with fear?”

Northstar starts trying to pull away and tears come to her eyes, “Your making my arm..hurt..your bad!” She kicks the hare's leg, rather hard too.

Zolomon is not playing games, he is serious and serious Zolomon can be dangerous.”I said back off”

Hanzi starts to chuckle and then the kicks connects in his knee and he yelps in pain”AHHHHHHHH...brat! I hate dibbuns and I hate badgers!”

Northstar takes the chance to bolt, I mean is the hare really willing to chase her if he has his ear pined to a tree by an arrow. She finds another tree and climbs up into it, almost slipping once but keeps climbing and looks to where Zolomon and Hanzi are, tears going down her face.

Zolomon keeps his arrow aimed at the other hare's head,”Leave...now..or I kill you”

Hanzi smirks “Like you really would.”He yanks the arrow free from the tree and his ear and drops the arrow onto the ground and smirks at Zolomon”I'll leave, for now but”He grins he knows where she is “She should know her history...why hide history from a poor dibbun! Her REAL parents were slain by Ormaz..I was Thar I saw it...her father beheaded and her weak mother died in childbirth...and her new father might well..lose a head one day too,maybe she will get ta watch, it be fun!” He cackles “Sides seems her new parents seem to care less about her, where are they huh....hee..she could have been the first new slave for the new and improved Blackrose after all” He grins and walks off into the woods, ear bleeding fairly badly now but seems he could care less.

Xander heard Hanzi voice and it only made him speed up and draw his blade, he didn't hear anyone else's voice, just Hanzi's voice as he heads towards where he heard it.

Northstar meanwhile sniffles and then slowly gets down from the tree and slips the last couple couple feet and lands on her ankle and starts crying.

Zolomon makes sure Hanzi is gone as he adjusts his bow and places the arrows in the quiver and walks over to check on Northstar “You ok little lass?”

Northstar sniffs “My ankle hurts....why was the hare so mean? What did he mean?They not my...real mom and dad?”

Zolomon is not sure what to say “Umm...ya know how some dibbuns are..adopted? And some are orphans but the abbey cares for em'...mainly Ozzy cars for the dibbuns and one day Krisha...your mother, will watch them all but still watch you also.”

Northstar frowns “Did..bad beasts really...but why they not kill..me, did I get away?”

Zolomon kneels down and speaks to the dibbun “ Thar was this...badgermiad Sunrose who managed to escape bad beasts and she was just about ta have a dibbun....you, and she did but she had you in a safe...well safeish place. Tassel and Anatole, Mossflower Defenders..helped her to give birth to you and..she died and had them promise to keep ya safe and I was there, and..I ran ya to Ferravale to a beast called Marek, he then took ya to Krisha. The...Mossflower Defenders tried ta..give Sunrose a decent burial, an otter named Toby and a Mole name Jim...but they were attacked by a cloaked figure, who took....her away, we later found out the cloaked figure was Ormaz. An escaped slave he had told us more..the badger maid...your birth mother was named Sunrose and her mate..your birth father was named Stonestripe , Ormaz killed Stonestripe and had been the reason Sunrose died as well. He..hurt her before she..got away. According to the escaped slave Ormaz killed Stonestripe in front of all the horde beasts and slaves at the time, it wouldn't be for about a season and a half later that he came ta the abbey and laid siege and attacked by good won in de end and he and all his evil beasts died, and that was about ..well little over 2 seasons ago now.” He watches the young badger”But...just cause your birth parents are..dead now, it doesn't mean Xandy and Krisha doesn't love you, they do..a whole whole lot little lass, they adopted you and became your mom and dad”He smiles “And Ozzy is your Uncle Oz, family don't have to be blood related after all.”

Northstar is listening, she is and trying to understand all this as she is still a dibbun, she has yet to be old enough to be a novice, she looks at Zolomon”I love mother and father, if they didn't adopt me I..I would have been all alone. I don't believe wot the bad ..bad hare say, he's bad.”She then hugs Zolomon”I want daddy, and mom and uncle Oz now...”

Zolomon smiles, he hugs the young badger back and nods “Course lass, we can head back to right now”

“Northstar!!” There was no need as Xander came into view and quickly made his way over to the two beasts, a very worried look on his face, his blade was out but he quickly put it away and kneeled down opening his arms wide for the young badger cub.

Northstar nods and seeing Xander she broke away from the hare and ran into Xander's arms and just hugged him tightly”Sorry sorry”She keeps repeating, she was sorry for wandering off like that, she would never do it again.

Zolomon stands and smiles, he scans the area making sure Hanzi isn't on his way back.

“Thank You”Xander replies and hugs Zolomon “Thank you....I heard Hanzi and got worried, where is he anyways...you know wot never mind lets just get to where Krisha is”He wipes his eyes “And..you too Zolomon, have some tea and rice cakes and we have cherry scones too with mellow creme and some sliced apples and walnuts too”

Northstar smiles “Please come..please..it's a picnic and hares like food”

Zolomon can't help it, he chuckles out loud and smiles, he then hugs Xander “Not gonna let anything happen ta me best pal's dibbun or any dibbun and Hanzi left, he has a bit of a bleeding ear to tend to and a little snack sounds like a grand plan,I say we go right away.”

Xander smiles and picks up Northstar and leads the way there.

Meanwhile Hanzi was not too far away and watched, he snorts “Yeah...be happy for now, see how long peace lasts, hopefully not long this place needs a little.....”He smiles “Chaos once in a while” He slips off to where ever he is staying, dried blood on his ear now as yes he will go get that tended to, he decides to just leave those Defenders and others alone, least for now.
