Too Much To Think On-Redwall Log

Who:

Matilda- Champion of Redwall

Oz- Badger Mom,AKA Papa Oz

Keyne-Thief

Lacota- Friar of Redwall

A couple spoofed Order Beasts

Log:

Matilda arrives with two other beasts beside her, maybe order beasts or elders, its unclear. She unlocks the cellar and goes down, the bat has not been given free rome of the cellar, no he had a leg tied to a chair so he could walk around a short distance, unless he got the rope loose of course.

Keyne has behaved, for the most part and seemed to worried on what would happen if he even moved from the chair. When the door opens he and the chair fall backwards and he lets out a low whimper, stands and then sort of sits on the floor and looks at the hedgehog "Hi...suppose you wanna talk, talk"

Matilda folds her arms over her chest and just stares down at the bat "Name, and then tell me why you placed the Abbot's life in danger, had it not been for the otters this would be a very different conversation"

Keyne frowns "But didn't...not meaning to harm or almost...he is fine fine now...right?"

Matilda nods"He is, but only out of luck. Now I have a feeling your the reason a lot of things have been missing lately, arnt you or maybe you know who it is so do answer as I rather not make this a bad day for me or anyone else"

Keyne just backs up as much as he can and then sighs "Things or..pretty and things were neat...and one thing be good to poke a weasel in the eye eye."

Matilda listens to him "Where is the stuff you took now? Does someone else have it or was it just you?"

Keyne frowns, he hates so many question and this spiky beasts freaks him out "Just...me, just Keyne, like the shinys and like the prettys."He frowns, fine they win"Things in tall oak, oak...all safe and sound ,sound by clearing. Tree have nice large hollow place to hide to hide things and make good nests"

Matilda takes a deep breath as she listens, the two beasts beside her just stay quiet as she paces back and forth a little and looks back at the bat"Ok...then your gonna show us where, and your gonna give all the things you took..back and then we can discuss further what to do next"

Keyne looks at the floor and back to the hedgehog "All..back?" He shifts back and forth as he balances on the chair and again in falls, though this time he avoids falling with it at least.

Lacota comes down the stairs in his usual quiet manner, and he peers in through the door, but stays silent.

Matilda groans and just closes her eyes to think, before slowly reopening them and answering the beast"Yes..all of it back, everything stolen is to be returned to the rightful owners."She steps closer"As I said before your lucky things didn't turn out worse yesterday, your also lucky you didn't fly away as I know you started to"

Keyne frowns, "I....was gonna fly away away....but then felt...bad. Keyne not know ice was...unsafe...ice was fine before, just cold...then suddenly its not ok to land on. Annoying beast should of just let Keyne have stole...it was pretty, Keyne wanted"

Matilda had remained quiet a long while before she finally speaks"Well, one shouldn't take what isn't thier's and weather the ice was....safe or not it was not a good idea to land on, with or without any other beast in tow."

Lacota harrumps, from where he's watching, but otherwise says nothing.

Keyne notices the squirrel and frowns, "Why all beast so...mad at me, at me...."He sits down again "Keyne will give back all stuff took, Keyne is sorry...Keyne is also sorry made abbey beast almost drown...but you said beast is fine fine now right?" He isn't in trouble for anything else is he.

Matilda glaces at Lacota and back to the bat "As I said he is fine, he has a couple days off to rest BUT if he had died, this little talk may of not gone too well, if there was even a talk at all. Now you can help us get the items you took later today, we will make sure all is given back to whom they belong and then, well..I am not sure what to do with you yet that's up to the Abbey and most likely up to the Abbot"

Lacota hmms... "I'm not the abbot... But I think he ought to be made to work off his debt to us for his various thefts... I'll suggest it to Benar..."

Keyne just frowns "Work?" He seems to dislike the idea of work and says no more on the matter, but he is behaving himself as he knows that's best right now.

Matilda says, "Not a bad idea, maybe he can wash dishes and chop veggies. I know the snow is melted there is getting ready for planting season and then planting of course. There is right now doing last few details of getting the Bell Tower back in shape so the bells can once more ring. The woodwork was being replaced that holds the bells and then the bells will be placed back in the tower, we are hoping in time for the Spring Feast"

Lacota nods. "Yes, there are *plenty* of jobs around he can do... And will keep doing, until we're satisfied you've done enough to make up for all your thievery..."

Keyne gulps but nods "Ok..ok..Kenye will do what ever told to do and glad one beast is ok."

Matilda looks at the bat "Ok..Keyne. As said first...you know, you can start to do some things, helpful things now and someone will keep an eye on you at all times, just to make sure you don't disappear on us and to make sure you do the work told to do. And someone will be with you when the stuff is gotten and as it's given back and we do have a list of things that was stolen"

Keyne nods as he listens, "Understand..."And it seems he does, and he will stay here or where ever they tell him to stay

Matilda sighs, why does today have to be annoying as she lets a guard stay with the bat and walks back upstairs to sit down in the kitchen and leans back in the chair"Guess it could of been a lot worse...."

Lacota shakes his head. "I don't actually know what Benar will do, to be honest, but I do intend to suggest we make the bat work it off... I don't see why he'd disagree, though.

Matilda says, "I don't think he will either, least the bat is behaving and seems sorry for what he did, or hr is just scared of what we will do to him. He could of easily of flied away during the brief chaos at the pond yesterday""

Lacota frowns. "He's lucky nobeast got hurt. That would have changed things..."

Matilda says, "Someone could of died though, we were lucky the two otters were there by the pond...or I am afraid to know what would of happen""

Lacota shakes his head. "Nobeast did die, though, and that's what's important..."

Matilda nods "True, it is."She smiles some now "I suppose I just got stressed out is all. We caught the thief that's been taking stuff and that's one less thing to worry about. We can just make sure we are ready for Spring and the feast when it comes, I just hope the repairs are done in the bell tower by then"

Lacota mmms. "I should think it should be in the next few days... Certainly in time for the feast."

Matilda says, "I will be very glad when the snow id finally, totally gone. This winter has not been the best. Been too cold and then the ice damaged the woodwork that held up the bells, it was good someone noticed before that got worse.""

Oz makes his way slowly to the kitchen, he will sometimes to get some mint tea. He coughs briefly, mutters something as he goes to get the tea or starts to as its not where it usually is right now as he frowns a bit."Are we low on mint?" He asks quietly.

Lacota says, "Ah, true, true... However, the spring thaw has started. The snow should be gone very soon... Hmm, Mint? Don't think so... Should be here someplace."

Matilda looks over at Oz and shrugs "We may be low, I am unsure. You doing ok today Oz?"

Oz listens as he nods "I am...fine"He answers in a quiet voice, "I...know where some wild mint grows and..and usually will gather some in early spring, by that....clearing"He frowns a moment before speaking again "I can always get some other tea of some...some sort"He clears his throat.

Lacota shakes his head. "Don't think wild mint will be ready for picking for a few days yet..."

Matilda says, "And someone else can get it maybe, no need to go out really, there may be enough here to make least one batch of tea"She can look."

Oz nods as he places a mug down and seems to steady himself by the doorway. He also isn't too talkative today , or least right now, but does get out a "Thanks...."

Lacota moves over to his cupboard, and searches through various jars and bottles. "There ought to be something in here, though..."

Matilda nods, she watches Oz a moment"You sure your doing ok today Oz?" She does sound concerned a little, then her morning has not been the best .

Oz smiles "I am fine just a little tried is all"He starts to cough but manages to stop more than a small one and frowns a little, but he speaks again"Just...the weather maybe as I always disliked winter."

Lacota pauses, and looks at the badger with concern. "Are you certain? You look... More than tired. I think you ought to talk to Angela..."

Matilda nods "It might be a good idea, even if it's just the weather...it is starting to get warmer so that will be good."

Oz snorts "I am just fine, Don't need to talk to a healer."He stands up and starts to head back to the Great Hall, stopping a moment to lean a bit heavily on his staff that he lucky has, then he usually does in winter anyways as his knee..well hates him in cold weather. He grips the staff and is quiet a brief couple moments as he frowns and speaks again " Yes..warmer will be..a lot better." He frowns again as he speaks"I will be ok, beasts need to not worry." Maybe he is worried but he decides to not show that he is.

Lacota huffs, and shakes his head. "Okay my foot. You look winded, Oz. Now, this'll work one of two ways... I'll ask you nicely to go talk to Angela now, or I'll go to Benar, and ask him to tell you to go see Angela... You wouldn't say no to the Abbot, I don't think."

Matilda frowns, "You should at least sit down and rest. One of us can make the tea and bring it to you, sides its nice to sit by the fireplace in the great hall sometimes in the winter, even if winter is almost up still a little cold out, and you can have a class there too I am sure"

Oz listens to both of them before speaking "I can sit in my chair, but I have the dibbuns to tend to. The only class I have left is math, using some buttons I still have and the cut out shapes also....its likely just winter and being old."He frowns "I should be fine after some rest."He stands up a little better, he is feeling somewhat better than a little while ago, but something is still wrong.

Lacota sighs. Looks like he'll be talking to Benar this afternoon, then. "Just... Be careful. Don't over-exert yourself..."

Oz sighs "No one needs to..."He takes a couple deep breaths and coughs a little as he frowns and seemed to be in some sort of pain "No one...needs to worry Benar...I am...gonna take the rest of the day..."He tenses a little before speaking and finishing his thoughts "Taking the rest of the day off....just need rest"He slowly makes his way to his room, not that he wants to take the rest of the day off but he will, and the rest will help him recover from..what ever it is that caused some pain of some sort .

Matilda starts to follow and frown, she looks at Lacota "Was he in pain or...just not wanting to go rest at first?"

Lacota harrumps. "Looked like pain to me. I *will* be talking to both Benar and Angela. I'm quite concerned now. He doesn't look well."

Matilda frowns, "Yeah may be wise, I hope he is ok. I have heard Oz has been here many seasons, how...many seasons has he been here anyways?" She frowns as if thinking "I know beasts have some ..issues when they get older, some really bad and some not so bad. My parents were....well a good many seasons in their life, their last couple seasons I helped with a lot.."She wipes away a tear "One morning it was a little too quiet and..I went to check on them, they had died, probably minutes apart from each other and were just holding paws, they died peacefully in their sleep. I wandered a couple seasons after that and then found the abbey, and well most know the rest of that tale"

Lacota shrugs. "He's been here many seasons, long before I arrived. So... A very long time... He is very much older than me, and even Benar."

Matilda nods, she frowns "Do hope some rest will help him though and maybe he can just take it easy a few days. Could be age though also but never know. A healer would better know"

Lacota nods. "That's why I intend to speak to Angela, despite what Oz insists. She'll know best what to do..."

Matilda nods "Yeah. Could be like a left over winter cold or...."She frowns "You think there a chance he didn't fully recover from that deep faint he was in? He was in that faint for a while after the attack happen, he almost died least once I remember"

Lacota frowns. "I hope not, lass... I hope not. In the meantime, at least he's resting for now."

Matilda says, "Rest will help, I am not a healer but I am sure it will help some. Hopefully its nothing too bad to worry on but yes we both can mentioned something to Benar when we see him again, Benar is most likely in his quarters and this is one of those important things that I don't think he would care if we brought it up on a day he is supposed to take off.""
