Hares Involved: Mjr. Varus, Lt. Olivia, MSgt. Terrence Cadwallader

It's a rather miserably wet winter day on the Western Coast, the sky completely overcast and a light drizzle of rain, as a group of hares from the Long Patrol make their way upshore in the general direction of Halyard. Varus takes the lead, this being his first "official" assignment from the Lord Ciocan since his injury and disappearance and then reappearance several months ago. At the moment, he's still rather confused about his rank, but he just knows that he's "in charge", (or so he's been told.) Keeping pace by his side is his long-suffering wife Olivia, concern always written on her face anymore, and trailing the group past Terrence is a small gaggle of Privates who have NO IDEA why they're even here.

To be fair to the privates, Terrence isn't quite sure why he's there either - the whole idea seems rather desperate, and he has his doubts about the whole ordeal. This is not helped by the fact the wind was chilly coming in from the sea, quickly soaking through his winter clothes. Why they didn't do this sooner or perhaps later, when the weather wasn't quite literally AT ITS WORST, will probably forever remain a mystery to the master-sergeant.

Also, his ribs ached.

"Lieutenant," Terrence falls in pace next to Olivia to whisper to her, having long ago stopped adding 'retired' before her rank, "Where exactly is the base we're seeking?"

The older doe looks over at Terrence. "About a quarter-mile outside Halyard," she answers. "We'll be there before too long." She pulls her cloak tighter in an effort to keep out the cold. "I realize this weather must be aggravatin' your ribs, and I apologize."

"Ah, no, it's fine." Terrence says through gritted teeth. "It's not too bad, and I imagine once we make it the bloody place things'll improve, wot." For good measure he pops the collar of his great coat up, hoping to better protect his neck from the wind.

Varus looks back at the group, and points, as Halyard looms up on the horizon. "We'll be goin' a little northwahd o' Halyahd, wot. Quick mahch, now." Olivia nods, and a couple Privates groan. This weather is pitiful, after all. And they won't even get to relax in the tavern.

Taverns made for longer delays than shortcuts, as the old saying goes, so it was probably for the best they were avoiding the village proper. The patrol was not quite welcome there still... Terrence falls in step behind the other hares marching north. "Faster you lot get moving the faster we'll have shelter - and I heard the 23rd had ovens!"

This does a little to lift the privates' spirits, but not by much.

Varus harrumps. "Those ovens are long cold by now, Sahgeant. We last used this base... Almost..." He pauses, as his swiss-cheesed memory struggles to recall these basic facts. "Well, it was a bloody long time, wot! That's wot mattahs!"

"Yes, but that's nothing a good cleaning and some firewood can't fix, sah!" Terrence shoots back, plastering a wide grin for the sake of morale. "And I for one think getting the kitchens in order so we can actually use them tonight is a grand idea- provided we make it there in good time, eh? So come on!" He shouts to the troop at large, "Pick up the pace and quit wasting time grumbling, and we'll be well off tonight!"

Varus nods, and looks back at the younger hares. "You 'eard th' Sahgeant. Pick up yahr feet, double-time now, an' let's get outta this damnable cold weathah!"

The hares start making good time, eager to get out of the weather and the threat of icy rain as soon a possible - with Terrence keeping a nervous eye on the clouds rolling in from the sea.

The group heads into the small forest, moving along a path through the trees that is rather overgrown with disuse. "Ah, yes... This'll be a good spot t' keep an eye on Halyahd wi'out actually bein' in th' town. The entrance is just ahead..." He frowns, thinking. "We pulled outta here way back when we moved our base into Halyahd. Tha' was probably a bettah time f'r th' Patrol, wot."

Truth be told, Terrence has very little idea of when exactly Varus' is referring to, but he's learned not to press such issues. "Of course, sah!" The master-sergeant pauses, looking around at the trees. "Where did you say the entrance was? I'll take a few hares with me and scout it to make sure there aren't vermin or worse creatures waiting for us inside."

Varus stops at a rather nondescript boulder, with a tree leaning against it. "It's in there. Be careful, it may be unstable, f'r all wee bloody well know..."

"Oh, don't you worry about me being cautious, sah." Terrence murmurs as he pokes around the boulder. "Ah - there you are." He disappears for a moment or so, then pops his head out again. "KONNAH! ADDERSMITH! COME ON!" He barks before going inside once again.

Varus waits with his wife and the remaining Privates, after Terrence, Konner, and Addersmith go inside. "Remember how we met here when you were just a Sergeant, dear?" Olivia murmurs, trying to get her husband thinking about the past. "You looked so dashing in your uniform. Corporal Camilla had her eye on you, too, though. I was so damn jealous of her, I'm not goin' to lie..."

The squad of privates Terrence left outside aren't really sure what to do with themselves as the lieutenant starts talking, especially the granddaughter of 'corporal Camillia' who uses her spear as a support. She'd sink into the mud if it were possible.

"All clear!" The shout came from inside, easily recognisable as Konner's voice.

Varus nods. "I almost married 'er!" he exclaims. "Dodged an arrow there, I wagah..." But he's cut off by Konner, and never notices the poor Private who hears them casually discussing her grandmother. "Right, enough dilly-dallyin'! Into the base, aftah me!"

"Maybe I dodged an arrow, sah..." Private Sheen mutters under her breath, causing the hare next to her to snort as they move inside.

They find Terrence and the two privates pulling a broken door off its hinges, the dust heavy in the air. "Well sah," the master-sergeant says taking a small break to rest his ribs, "It's not collapsed, at the very least. Not the highest bar to pass, though."

Varus nods, and looks around, trying not to sneeze from all the dust in the air. "It was a poor choice t' abandon this strategic position," he remarks. "But at th' time th' Patrol was goin' through a stagnant period. We 'ad t' pull back t' th' Mountain. This was long seasons afore you were born, Sahgeant."

".....Yes, sah." Terrence replies after a beat, before turning to the rest of the hares. "Attenborough - you take privates Sheen and Mosswood, go through the left-paw side rooms. Burnfield, you take Harolds and Addersmith, the right side. The rest of you stay here and help clear the hall. Understood?"

"Yes, Sah," the Privates call in unison, then they break into the assigned groups. Varus, meanwhile, "I'll go check the commandahs office. It should be furthah back." Olivia isn't terribly sure what to do, so she volunteers to inspect whatever passed for an infirmary here.

"There's the mess, I think." Terrence murmurs, taking a step towards the dilapidated room. "Thank goodness it seems no beast has stepped foot here since the Patrol last left, eh?" He snorts, shaking his head. The base is empty of foes. "So, lieutenant!" He calls down the hall, "Any ideas on how to jog memories?"

"I am unsure," she admits. "This is the kind of thing that we just don't have any books to tell us what to do." She sighs. "You remember what happened when you confronted him at the mountain? That's why I specifically asked for you to come along. You've somehow got through to him. I think you remind Varus of our eldest son. You are a lot like him in many ways."

"Oh." Wonderful, he almost says, but has the tact (and respect) not to. He's read the reports about Adrain - and he knows well the rumours around the strained relationship between father and son. "That does remind me though," he says, coming back out of the mess, "Considering the sergeant's recently returned - has he ever tried to get through to the Major?"

Olivia frowns. "They've... Talked. Varus knows who he is, thankfully. But it's still not enough to get him all back the way he should be. Not nearly like that day at the mountain. I heard about that whole thing from Gregorian, by the way. Any other beast would've called you impertinent."

"Understandable," Terrence responds after a moment, "But frankly the major and captain are the only hares in the regiment who calling myself impertinent wouldn't be inappropriate, and neither have called me such, yet." He shrugs. "And the Long Patrol has many more problems than just myself, like Mjr. Varus. If this doesn't help much, we might have to look into having him retire once again, though that means we'll be out of another major - or captain, if Gregorian takes up the torch. Too few officers."

The doe offers a strained smile. "Well, this is the last thing we know that can possibly help. If you keep needlin' at him again like you did before that can get him back on track, I think. We'll see how this goes... In the meantime, I'll set myself up as the resident medic here. Once I get the infirmary cleaned out. It's got a foot of dust in there..."

"I'd say that's true for everywhere in this place, lieutenant" Terrence says flatly, "But I'll take a gander at poking at him when the cleaning's done, I think. Hopefully it'll do something, in the end."

Varus has notably not yet exited the commander's office, so after sharing a nod with Terrence's assesment, Olivia says, "Well, for now, I'll go see what he's up to. Hopefully our cook can come up with something tonight before we all starve to death..."

OOC: Realized no one ever posted this log, so, exactly one month later, here it is!

Sgt. Adrian, Cpl. Donica, Sgt. Felicity, Julia, SbLt. Lossow, Gen. Quinten, Pvt. Rhonwen, Msgt. Terrence, Mjr. Varus, Cpt. Velm, and Ciocan

While having no plans to necessarily attend the festivities himself, Terrence is still in his dress uniform. Slowly making his way through the throng of hares going this way and that he searches the crowd for the two the whole thing's about today - the two healers.

Velm was standing in the hallway having finished some things in the infirmary and just now was in the hallway, kind of ready and kind of not at the same time. Maybe nervous just a little, but not too much.

Donica is elsewhere at the moment, but close by the hallway.

"Captain-" Terrence comes to a halt before the chief healer, bowing slightly. "I'll need to have a word with you and Donica as soon as you're able. Official stuff about conduct and all that - not that I'm worried there's a problem, of course. Though," he adds, his mind running more than is usual for him, "I will say I'm grateful yourself and she are now not in the same patrol, as that could have gotten, er," he searches for the right word, "...Awkward, if you understand me, captan."

Velm stops and listens to Terrence as he sort of rambles "It's... fine Sargrant, I am still getting use to Home guard... wot did ya need?"

Donica starts to pass by them, she is busy right now but if this is important she stops, "Wot... wot is going on? All is okay right?" She wants no issues, not today.

Felicity is also in her dress uniform, and it's clear that she almost never wears it.  Tugging at the body of the jacket, which is much stiffer than she's used to, the doe looks at her short sword and sabre, making sure their peace ties are secure and everything is well polished.  Not looking where she's going and with her mind elsewhere, she turns the corner only to almost walk slap-bang into the bucks standing in the hallway.

Quinten arrives, the General wearing his dress uniform and moving toward the front to take his seat, nodding to people politely and saying a few good days to people. He seems relaxed and quite happy to be here, if the General is here then the Badger Lord must not be far off.

Rhonwen walks in and finds a seat. A wedding seemed exciting, but also good. Something fun and good for once around here, she smiled and soon sat down near some other privates in the room.

"Master-sergeant," Terrence corrects in a quiet voice, but quickly moves on as he was NOT expecting to catch them both so soon. Terrence blinks. "Ah, hello. Congratulations you two, a bit preemptively, perhaps, but I doubt I'll have much of a chance to speak to the two of you once things begin." He clears his throat. "I had been meaning to tell you this much sooner, but in light of recent events here we are. Captain Velm, private Donica Rivershore - I need you to understand that once you're married, you will have to keep your interactions to off duty with a few exceptions, of course." He pauses for a moment, his eyes flickering for a moment to the general as he enters.

"This has been made easier with the captain being transferred to the Home Guard," the master sergeant continues, "But still - unless in an extreme situation were you, Velm, are the only commanding officer left standing, you cannot command Donica in the field; I would further request that both of you pay heed and avoid any situations that the interest of your duty as a captain and private conflict with that of spouses. Is that understood? The reason for this is that if, say, let's a rather extreme example, you, Velm, were in a situation were you had a choice between another private and Donica here and you had to send one of them to more or less certain death, you may pick the other private for obvious and personal reasons. We want to avoid ever forcing either of you into that situation, or anything like it. I realise this is quite a lot to say right before your wedding, but hopefully you understand."

Probably for the first time he's ever given either of them the expression, Terrence offers a small smile. "And good luck, of course."

Velm nods "Of course." He does understand what Terrence is saying. He nods "We should, head into the room." He takes a deep breath, stupid nerves, and walks in slowly going to where he will need to be.

Donica nods, a small frown but then another nod."I am fine and know Velm... The Lt. will mostly be at the mountain, I don't look for him to be out on the field unless something major happens." She offers a smile "I got to change, be back soon" And she is off to do that. She will be back in time, duhh for her own wedding.

Felicity manages to recover before actually running into anyone.  She stands and listens quietly, nodding slightly in agreement.  They need to avoid a conflict of interest as much as possible.  Once the other 2 leave, she turns to the Master Sergeant.  "Terrence... I 'eard 'bout whot 'appened.... wi' Zolomon..."  although all of the details have not been shared with her.  She has, however, heard the rumours that Terrence did it out of hatred for Zolomon and wanting revenge.  But she doesn't believe rumours.  There is no anger in her gaze, but rather sadness and compassion.

Rhonwen waits quietly till the wedding starts, some slight chatter among the privates beside her.

Blowing past Velm on his way in as the junior officer has the vaguest of ideas who exactly was getting married today, Walter S. Lossow enters the meeting hall with a grandness that doesn't fit the fact he's one of the lowest ranked officers present. The dark forest green uniform with crimson lining and golden lapels is a stark contrast to nearly every other hare in the room - not to mention the way the double breasted jacket's silver buttons stand out with his coat hanging off one shoulder and his polished sober shining at his side.

This is undercut by the fact that as soon as he enters he realises he has absolutely no clue where to sit, and ends up picking a chair at random (squeezing in between the privates near Rhonwen) grinning from ear to ear. He knows he's crashing but hey. It's a wedding! big_smile

"Ah." Terrence hadn't seen Felicity approach, nor did he particular wish to hear the deceased hare's name today. "Yes, I suppose you must have." He watches the sergeant's face closely as if looking for any sign of a hidden meaning. "But its no matter now, - it's done, finished." He sighs, morphing into a weak smile. "Anyway, I intend to put it out of mind for today, if you'll excuse me - I shall talk about it later if you wish, but please, not now and not here. Not yet." He's begun moving into the meeting hall already.

Lord Ciocan approaches down the corridor, the Badger Lord dressed in his best, a long flowing tunic of grey with an over-robe trimmed in green. He slows as he spots Terrence and Felicity in the Hallway and moves toward them both, "Come along you two, get inside and take your seats."

The Badger Lord smiles, "Today is a day of good things, of celebration, of two hares coming together," he looks down at Terrence, "I very much hope you saved the 'Appropriate conduct as married officers speech' for later. Doing it before the wedding would be rude and I might have to insist you sing at the Wedding Breakfast as part of the chorus."

The Badger Lord smiles knowingly at Terrence and then moves on into the room and starts to move down toward the end, nodding to his hares and smiling at everyone as he passes toward the front and his place.

Velm stands up straighter now as the Badger Lord comes in, he moves a little as he tries to not be nervous today, all is good.

Donica has been getting ready, and soon is ready to go into the meeting room. She has of course her dress uniform on and, for the wedding, some paper flowers on her head as a sort of wreath of sorts. She smiles happy about today.

Rhonwen looks around, this is likely her first wedding she been out before, she glares at one of the recruits who grin at her, the recruit seems to like her, well she dislikes him, so there.

Felicity goes to grab his sleeve, to say something more, when the Badger Lord appears.  She smiles, then side eyes Terrence.  No, he did not save that speech for after the wedding, but she's not going to sell him out.  "Aye, sah."  As Ciocan enters the room, she shrugs.  "Guess we should go in thah...but we will talk latah, alright?"  Before she can even take a step, though, Julia bursts around the corner and flings herself at her sister, wrapping her arms around Felicity's legs.  "I wanna go to a wedding!!"  Felicity looks horrified.  "'Ow did y'escape th' Caretakahs??"  She hesitates, then grabs her sister's paw.  "We don't 'ave time foh me t'take y'back, but so 'elp me, if y'make 1 single peep, I'll 'ave y'ears, d'y' 'ear me?"  Julia nods and quietly enters the room with her sister.  There isn't a chair for the leveret, so she has to sit on Felicity's lap once she's seated.  Looks like Lossow isn't the only one crashing the party.

"Ah, yes, sir." Terrence murmurs as he follows the badger inside with Felicity. "Though have pity on me - my ribs haven't quite fully healed yet." He gives another weak smile - growing into a much wider grin when the leveret appears. "Does this mean Grace'll be on her heals, I wonder?"

Lossow looks around at the hares nearby. "Say, lads, who exactly is the lucky pair getting attached at the hip today?"

Ciocan moves to the front and smiles, "Velm, Donica would you both join me up front?"

The Badger then looks across the crowd and smiles, he seems relaxed and happy right now, "Welcome my friends, today we are gathered for a very special occasion. It is not often I get to conduct a Wedding so I am very glad to have you all here to join us in this special service today."

He glances toward the young couple and waits for them to join him.

Velm smiles as he stands in front of the Badger lord, a smile is given also to Donica.

Donica nods as she walks forwards till she is beside Velm, a smile on her face. Its a good day, she is happy and a lot of others are happy as well. It felt good to bring some cheer to the mountain and a wedding was perfect for that.

Rhonwen watches and quietly listens, a small smile for the couple as the wedding starts. Others in the room also get quiet and watch.

Felicity looks slightly exasperated at the suggestion that Grace may be following, but she smiles slightly at Terrence as he seems to actually, genuinely be happy at her sister's arrival.  They all settle down and listen and watch, Julia doing her best to not fidget in her sister's lap.  She and her doll are wearing their light blue dresses, as usual, although the leveret is clutching something in an envelope close to her chest.

Truth be told Terrence hadn't really planned to be at the ceremony itself today, but here he was and he supposes he won't complain as he settles into his seat. However, just then he remembered the letter he had tucked into his uniform, his paw ghosting over it with sheepish expression. Oh well - he'd have to give that AFTER the proceedings.

For his part Lossow closes his month when the badger-lord speaks, which semi-answered his question.

Ciocan smiles at Donica and Velm, "Please join hands," he rumbles then addresses them and the crowd, "We are gathered here today to all be witness to a most sacred event,"

He lifts his hands, holding a long piece of silk rope dyed in the colours of the mountain, sandy brown and white and green, "We are here so that Velm and Donica may express their vows and join together as Husband and Wife, it is a big and grand step they take."

The badger smiled down at the two hares before him, carefully tying the silk rope around their joined paws, "Today you stand together, to join in Matrimony and promise to love and to hold, to work and live together as one family, if any here know a just reason why this ceremony should be halted, speak now or forever remain silent."

Velm smiles as he takes Donica's hand into his own.He listens as Ciocan speaks and wraps the ribbon around, another smile crosses his face.cAny nervousness he had earlier slips away.

Donica nods as holds velm's hand as well. She is happy, happier than she has been in a while and this is one of the best day's of her life.

Unfortunately, it is right at this moment that a hare suddenly clears his throat, disturbing the otherwise silence of the moment quite rudely. At some point Varus and his wife Olivia had come in, being quiet at the time. Olivia is wearing a dark blue dress. Looks fairly expensive. And Varus is wearing his dress uniform, with all his medals AND his rank insignia signifying him as a Major. The irony is lost on no beast. As a few eyes turn their way, the older hare coughs into his handkerchief, and mutters a quiet, "This damnable weather. Sorry." Olivia smiles wanly, and mouths a wordless "Sorry."

Rhonwen blinks "Wot who would interrupt a....." Oh darn it's the Major and it looks like he surely knows who he is now as the haremaid  sinks into her chair further, and further down, quiet now... so quiet.

Quinten asks, "As the pair of you stand before me, I ask you first Donica, do you take Velm to be your husband, to hold and guide and walk beside him from now until the day the dark forest calls you home?""

Ciocan raises an eyebrow and stares at Varus as he coughs like that, once it becomes clear it was just a cough and not an objection he gives Olivia a "You poor thing" look then turns back.

"As the pair of you stand before me, I ask you first Donica, do you take Velm to be your husband, to hold and guide and walk beside him from now until the day the dark forest calls you home?"

Felicity smiles for her friends and their happy day.... but her smile vanishes as she looks around the room, glaring until she sees who's coughing.  And then she continues glaring for a moment.  She doesn't care who it is, how dare they?!  Julia stuffs her paw into her mouth to stifle a giggle, glancing at Terrence in the hopes that he finds it as funny as she does.  Felicity returns her attention to the happy couple, hoping Varus didn't distress them too much.

The irony of Varus' uniform is not lost on Terrence, that's for sure - but he resists the urge to bury his face in his paws, instead turning his full attention to the front of the room. It's a formal affair after all!

Of course, Lossow has barely any context for who exactly Varus is, though he does look vaguely familiar. The junior officer can't hide his small snicker, though he tries his best.

Donica hears the voice being cleared and frowns, she blinks quietly as, okay just a cough and not something against the wedding.A smile returns she turns her view to Velm again, smiling as Ciocan asks her the question "Of course I do"

Varus falls utterly quiet again, and the ceremony proceeds, as he is left utterly oblivious to all the stares.

Rhonwen sits up better now that things seem to be calm again

Julia bites her lip, then silently scrambles from Felicity's lap onto Terrence's -- which is easy since they're sitting next to each other.

Felicity looks mortified, and with one paw she makes a shushing motion while with the other she gestures furiously for her sister to stay put, all the while trying her hardest to not be noticed by those up front.  Julia nods, and while she snuggles down better on Terrence's lap, she pretends to lock her mouth shut and throw away the key.  Unfortunately, the leveret doesn't know the Master Sergeant is recovering from injured ribs, and so she may accidentally make him have some pain.

It's probably for the best that any sort of sword is absent from Terrence's side - so his slight jump of surprise doesn't quite end in disaster. He hadn't seen Julia crawling over as his eyes were on the two hares & badger at the front still. "Oh-" he says, a bit loudly, blinking and unsure what to do. ESPECIALLY as there's pressure on his ribs. Tears are forming in his eyes and the hare sitting next to them - Redford, as it happens - pats the master sergeant on the shoulder. "There, there, we know it's an emotional time." The healer lieutenant sniffs.

Lossow, grinning still from ear to ear, turns his attention to Velm - who has yet to say yes. He looks ready to cheer as soon as the captain does though, even if he has never met the hare in his life.

Ciocan is doing a good job of ignoring the noises from the audience, but he does raise his head to GLARE at Julia and Terrence, his brows drawing together into a small frown before he is all smiles again and back to the ceremony.

"Velm, do you accept Donica to be your wife? To walk beside her and be together from today until the end of your days?"

The badger smiles down at them both, waiting for Velm's answer as he holds their tied hand with his.

Velm smiles, "I do... yes" He smiles, he had worried this wedding wasn't even gonna happen, he is happy the wedding did happen. He is very happy right now.

Donica in return, she has not focused on the crowd at all, just Velm and this moment in time.

Felicity and Julia both freeze as the badger glares at the leveret and the buck.  Oh, crud.  Julia decides to just sit very still, which has the unfortunate effect of leaving her leaning on the buck's injured ribs.  Felicity notices the tears forming in Terrence's eyes and cringes.  Did he say he had injured ribs?  She thinks he did.  But she's not sure what to do without disrupting the ceremony even more.  So she just sits there, hoping to move her sister when the cheering starts.

"WOOOOOOOOOOO!" Lossow stands with the other hares at the 'I do' and whoops, whistle, and thumps his footpads agents the ground in an all around show of good cheer.

Terrence didn't even see the glare or even hear the cheering. The tears are coming on fast as he tries to manoeuvre the leveret away from his ribs. "Hey......" He mutters in a very, very quiet breath, almost like he's hissing out of his teeth. "Julia, I'm still injured. It hurts. Please, get off."

Ciocan smiles as Velm says yes and lifts their joined hands up into the air above him, "And so, here before all sat here today as witness let it be know, that these hares, Velm and Donica are joined as husband and wife."

He smiled at the crowd and slowly unwinds that rope of silk and drops it into the brazier to one side with flares with green light as the flames catch and the badger lord claps his hands together, "From this day forth go from here together, your lives are now intertwined together, your life ahead of you is an adventure that will throw many things at you. Some unexpected, some to be expected, but you will face them together as one family."

Ciocan then bows to Velm and Donica and smiles, "Congratulations both of you."

At this word most of the room bursts into cheering, hurling confetti at the newly weds to shower them in good luck as the badger lord steps back to let them be the centre of attention.

Velm nods "Thank you sur." He chuckles some as some colored paper lands on him. His mood is good and he  won't let anything ruin it today.

Donica smiles"Thanks."She is still smiling and happy. Likely the two hares will get a day off, then back to duties and all that.

Varus claps his paws, as does his own wife. "Huzzah!" they cheer, though Varus adds, "I should probably think about tyin' th' know wi' you, too, Olivia..."

Some in the crowd start chanting, "Kiss!  Kiss!  Kiss!  Kiss!"  Felicity grabs her sister and pulls her back onto her lap, hugging her close.  Julia is horrified that she made Terrence hurt, and tears of remorse well up in her own eyes.  "I'm sorry, Terrence, I didn't know y'were 'urt," she mumbles, trying hard not to cry.  Felicity strokes her ears.  "Thah, thah, love, we know y'didn't mean to.  Are y'alright, Terrence?"  The older doe looks anxiously at him, glad the cheering crowd is hiding this little mess.

"Of course," Terrence manages, "Don't you worry about it." Beyond those words however is a bit much for the NCO to handle at the moment, so he stays as he is while everyone cheers around him.

"CONGRATULATIONS VARIK AND MONICA!" Someone shouts - probably Lossow.

Velm blinks as someone gets the names wrong and sighs. He can speak to them later if he needs to.

Donica chuckles and speaks "That's Private Donica and Captain Velm." She smiles now.

Olivia looks back at Varus. "Dear... We're already married, don't you remember?" He gives her a glassy-eyed stare, then nods after a moment. "Righ', yes, o' course, dahlin'. 'Ow could I forget our weddin' day?"

Felicity can tell he's not actually fine, but doesn't comment on it.  "Whot's this, Julia?"  The leveret sniffles, then looks at the envelope in her paw.  "I made Velm an' Donica a cahd for their wedding."  Felicity smiles.  "'Ow lovely an' thoughtful o' you!  I say, we're gonna 'ave a special breakfast t'celebrate 'ere in a minute -- may'ap y'c'n give it t'them then!"  Julia smiles slightly and nods, hugging the letter close.  Felicity turns back to Terrence.  "D'y'think y'c'n make it down thah on y'own?  I c'n 'elp y'."
"I'll 'elp, too," Julia promises.

At Donica's mention of private, Terrence finally manages to look up and begin to stand. "Er, excuse me for a moment-" he breaths to Felicity and her sister, only half paying attention as he's still in a bit of pain. "I think I'll be fine." Now that the ceremony is finished he gathers himself for a moment and strides to the front reaching into his uniform tunic to pull something out.

"Congratulations, Donica," he speaks clearly as if he hadn't just doubled over from pain, "But it be more proper to say corporal Donica and captain Velm." He holds to the letter to the healer. "Two-fold congratulations, I suppose, mrs. Velm."

Velm blinks at the news "Well another reason to celebrate dear." He grins and will help led the rest of the hares to the dinning hall, cause no celebration is complete without... food!

Donica is shocked "Wait... c... corporal?" She just stands there as she takes the letter, reads it... yep he spoke the truth, a smile "Thank you"

Varus approaches the happy couple. "Congratulations on your promotion," he begins, then smiles. "And your marriage. May it be truly happy for you both..."

Felicity watches Terrence walk away, then Julia leaps off of her lap.  "Hey, he's givin' 'em a letter!  I'm gonna give 'em my cahd!"  Before her older sister can say or do anything, Julia dashes up to Donica and goes to give her a giant hug.  "Congratulations!!!!"  Julia shouts, her face wreathed in smiles as she shoves the envelope at Donica's face.  "I made y' a cahd!!"  The card is actually very pretty, with flowers painted on the front in watercolour.  The inside says "For your speshul day" with lots of hearts around it, and Julia's name signed at the bottom.  Felicity comes up, hiding her embarrassment at her sister's exuberance.  "Congratulations!  I'm so 'appy for you two!!"

"Of course; you're now to work directly under Felicity - after the honeymoon, of course."
Terrence can't stop the laugh at the leveret's and the mentioned sergeant's antics,  even if he winces afterwards while clutching his side. "Well." He mutters stiffly. "I am going to make my room to the mess hall and find some brandy to try and tack the edge off, methinks."

Lossow is already off to party.

Donica takes the card and nods her thanks, she then heads to the mess hall. Of course there is the cake cutting, and then everyone getting to sit down to enjoy food and fellowship

Felicity leads her sister down to the Mess Hall for the celebratory breakfast.  The party is full of exuberance and cheer.  Felicity will just have to catch Terrence another time.  Julia, for her part, is having the time of her life, although when she gets back to the Caretakers, she makes sure to make a card for Terrence to apologize and to wish him to get better quickly.

For his part Terrence will hang around the party for a little while, chatting with whoever and avoid any serious topic - and meeting Lossow for the first time when the junior officer spills his drink on the master sergeant. After that, Terrence laughs again and leaves to clean up (and go to an early bed).

In the dinning hall is a large cake, there is some ale also. A lot of food, cause hares like a lot of food! There is even some dancing for those who want to dance, some hares likely sleep in and some don't, but another good thing is no training or drills, well till after lunch anyways.

Varus and Olivia will of course attend the party, Varus acting the part of the officiating Captain of the occasion (because of course he would.) Adrian turns up as well, and offers well-wishes to the happy couple. but they have no idea who he is.

Lossow beelines for Adrian as soon as the sergeant appears, handing him a drink. "Good gracious, sergeant, but can you believe I'm the only one of our party 'sides you that showed up? It's nice to see a recognisable face, you know."

Ad looks over at his parents, then back at Lossow, and he smiles a little. "Well, I don't know th' couple, mahself, but, 'ey... Free pahty, eh?" He raises his drink. "I'm 'appy t' see y' here, though..."

"Indeed, indeed." Lossow empties his glass. "What was the couple's name again? I realise I should learn these things, but to be fair to myself I haven't been here since I was a leveret, wot. I think I recognise - Keith, there, I believe." He points with his glass at Konner who's chatting with a haremaid.

Varus looks across the room. "Velm. I think 'e was a recruit back when Mont 'n I left. An' 'is new wife is Donica. I know 'er in passin'. Both capable fightahs, I'd say." He takes a slower, more measured sip from his own glass. "Wot o' you, though? Evah considahed settlin' down wi' a spouse?"

"Pfft, as if that'll happen anytime soon!" Walter Lossow laughs. "But I like to think of myself as more free spirited than that! But find me a good officer and I might consider it."

Adrian smirks. "Only eyein' officahs, eh?" He looks down at his drink. "I'll admit I've 'ad mah eye on a few buc... A few hares, the past few seasons."

"I feel like crossing ranks gets a little bit awkward in the end don't you think?" Lossow thinks he knows which hares the sergeant referring to. They did travel all together for over four seasons, after all. "In fact, no offence, but part of my reasoning is to avoid the uh, well, not drama but er, dynamic that happened in our old troop."

Adrian sets his empty glass down on a nearby table. "Dynamic? Why Loss... I thought we got along famously aftah the iciness wore off. That business in Mahshank. An' we caught those con-ahtist cats that were stealin' money from those poor voles. We made a good team there, an' Monty, too."

"Oh, I was simply an observer, that was all I meant." Lossow says knowingly, even if he isn't quite sure of himself. "I didn't have much a paw in the business of the hare - but yes, Marshank I think may have earned me something, I think. The voles as well. I for one wonder why those cats weren't simply mugging creatures considering how bloody big they were."

Adrian turns, facing Lossow. "I..." He flushes a little, and tries to play it off, but the alcohol has loosened him up a bit. "I'm confused. About things. I spent two seasons traipsing around with my best friend Monty, an' then two more seasons traipsin' around wi' you, too, Loss. Things... 'Appen." He lets the noise of the partiers mask their chat from everybeast else, especially his parents not that far away.

"Er, wot?" Lossow blinks, unsure. "Four seasons in total it was with my company, Adrian. But regardless!" His face flushes. "I, well," he mumbles, embarrassed. "I just you know, assumed there was something going on between you and one of the haremaids. Like Monty's thing........"

The hare leans back against the wall. "Eh, I don't know. There was. There was back before I left th' mountain, too, but she got transferred to Mossflowah, I think." He's flushing just as red as Lossow now. "Agh, I'm sorry, Mate... I'm sorry. This is a terrible time an' way... I've been drinkin' a li'l. For th' pahty. An' seein' Velm an' Donica."

"Velma and Darrick, you mean." Lossow corrects, swaying slightly. "But it's a wedding! I think we've all had a bit much. I'm gonna go find some of that cake I saw. Might cut it myself if the couple hasn't yet managed, wot!"

Adrian claps a paw on Lossow's shoulder. "Hey... We c'n cut it togethah, huh?" He reaches for the other buck's glass. "An' we'll cut back on th' booze before we make a scene. C'mon, pass it ovah, wot."

Nearly as soon as Adrian snatches the glass out of his paws Lossow grabs another from a passing tray. "Nah, wedding's are rare. I intend to have fun before I get sent back to Mossflower, wot!" And with that he heads for the cake - whether it's been cut or not. "COME ON SERGEANT! THERE'S CAKE TO BE HAD!"

Setting the empty glass down, Adrian sighs. "Leftenant..." But he can't help chuckling at the other hare. And he can't help hoping the younger buck forgets the rather frank feelings he bared not two minutes before. He'll abstain from anymore drinks, lest he get that into his head again. "Yes, Cake. Lead the way!"

Quick OOC: Not a proper log, but something I wrote to introduce the next part of the overarching plot that I began with A Snake in the Sand & two characters that I'll be using and their relationship to each other. In short: a sort-of cutscene à la Jinora's style from a few years back.
I'll post logs that follow this plot in the replies like I did with the SitS plot, and ask that anyone who wants to does the same

Nearing an End of a Quest, prologue

A letter from Halyard had arrived in the later stages of the winter festivities: a week later, a member of the Band of Merchants chose several beasts to accompany him across the Great Sea.

Gulls wheeled over head as the sun peeked out from the grey clouds: despite it being wintertime, the passage over the great sea had been calm and without incident. For two weeks the ferret had been cooped up on the grand ship with little to do but read or discuss their plans for when they reach the northlands. Once before had he been near to the great fire mountain in the village of Halyard but that was many seasons ago, and he had not passed that way on his return journey.

"Vidug," one of the mice called the name he had given by his masters, "I daresay it's another pleasant day." The mouse settled himself upon the railing next to the ferret, casting his gaze out over the blue water.

"Indeed," the vermin offered a smile, "And no matter the length of travel, it is good to be rid of that city again, no? But this shall be your first time setting yourself on the distant lands, is it not? You must be teeming with excitement."

"Of course, Vidug," laughed the mouse, "I'm certainly looking forward to it. Is it true fire spouts from the mountain?"

"Not that I've ever seen," he raised a paw to belay the crestfallen face, "But I have seen little of this side of the great sea's shore, in truth. Even less so of the fire mountain. You may see it yet, I should say."

"It's a shame you got off by yourself for so long. If I needn't have abided by the will of elders I would have gone with you."

"I know. It hasn't been so long that I've forgotten that day - nor your skills at the time. You were put in charge of the grain storage, weren't you?"

The mouse's face darkened, prompting a slight grin from the ferret.

"Twas boring work, no doubt?"

"No doubt." The mouse echoed.

Atticus threw back his head to give a deep laugh.

"Urtas, be glad it's over and done with then! Those seasons are behind you, with far more promising ones in front, I shall say. Certainly more exciting than grain counting and your daily exercises with the blade, eh?"

The mouse nodded, leaning once more on the ship's railing. The escort ship was some fifty yards behind them, trailing with a company of many good beasts ordered to follow them.
"Do you suppose we may have to make use of the sword, if it comes to it?" Urtas asked suddenly, pushing himself off the railing and turning to face ferret.

"I hope not. After all, we're to avoid coming to blows if at all possible."

"And will these barbarians be willing to heed us, I wonder?"

"They will, if we're careful to not threaten them overmuch. Calm reasoning is the safe option regardless, and even a wolverine can't resist honey that's freely offered." Atticus said, "I doubt they'll ever trust us fully in our lifetime, but the future may surprise us, friend."

The two ships, one a three masted behemoth followed by a war galley, shall arrive in Halyard's harbour in the next few days, and with them the rumour spreads that they seek a meeting with the Badger Lord of Salamandastron.

#105 Re: The Long Patrol » Some LP Updates & Suggestions- 2022 » 2022-02-07 05:36:08 PM

The problems in Halyard have mostly settled down because of Winter -they aren't gone, though. A letter was sent in December across the sea and its taken until roughly now for a ship to return bearing those diplomats I've mentioned in the Snake in the Sand thread.   Hopefully today I'll write up a 'cutscene' I've had planned for a while to introduce the next part of the Halyard troubles & can get on for some RP in Redwall or wherever.

Also, concerning the 23rd: about 3 weeks ago we RP'd te moments leading up to the party leaving the mountain to go to the old base. The mission thing is still on going, but because both myself and varus' player have been mostly inactive in January we haven't had a chance to actually RP anything! Which is also why I've offered to spoof hares other than Terrence around the mountain, because he's not around.

Both the proto-sequel to Snake in the Sand and the 23rd shouldn't and hopefully WONT get in a way of any plots you have planned though, I want to make that clear. If anything, hopefully they can all compliment each other

Sorry it took me so long to post! Was busy on Sunday & had an internet outage yesterday!

Takes place the day before 'A Newly Arrived Old Friend'.
Dochas, Eirwen, & Spruce, Squirrels
Gorvenalus, a beaver

Winter had finally settled in with snow increasing every day - it was lighter than the previous seasons, far lighter, but compared to the heavy snows of four and eight seasons ago, even a fall of several paws deep seems mild. Of course, that was little comfort to Spruce atop the wall. When he'd first requested to help out with watch duty there'd been a light dusting and the sun had constantly peeked in and out of clouds. Now after a few weeks the world was blanketed in white and shadowed by the heavy grey clouds, and Spruce wrapped his cloak together about him and nestled closer to his bowl of thankfully still warm porridge.

Ultimately it wasn't that cold, but the squirrel was beginning to regret seeking out the relative quiet the wallops offered.

Eirwen moved quietly along a path, a couple places prove to be slightly harder than some, but there is some clear path by the abbey gates. She studies the gates and steps back as if unsure of knocking or not. She glaces around and up at the high walls.

Spruce isn't quite paying attention - after, since the snow really started falling not a soul could be seen passing by on the road. No, he's more focused on his bowl of food. With snow still coming down every sound is muted, and the pure white beast below seemingly blends into her surroundings (at least from the wall tops).

Eirwen sees the faint movement and cups her paws to be heard better "Hello up thar.... any chance ta get inside, likely warmer inside"

Gorvenalus is coming out of the main doors leading to the great hall, seeing the snow he chuckles some, but he also at the same time made sure his scarf was on good. He has yet to hear Eirwen as he is closer to the main building right now.

Just as he's finishing his porridge, Spruce's ears perk at the sound. Leaping up he looks frantically up and down the road, unsure of where exactly the voice came from. Then he turns, thinking that perhaps someone in the abbey was pulling a prank. But it's just the old beaver recorder, and if THAT was his voice Spruce was a badger.

"Oi, who said that? Where are you?" The squirrel calls over the wall after a moment. "Show yourself! .....Please."

Eirwen rolls her eyes and moves a little before speaking "Tis me sir, a traveler just looking for a place to stay for the winter, well least winter anyways."

Gorvenalus arches an eyebrow at the shouting and steps closer"Is someone on the path by the gates?"

"Er, I think so." Spruce says loud enough so the beaver can hear him, still peering over the wall. Finally he spots the other squirrel.

"Oh." He blinks. "There you are! Sorry 'bout that, I, well-" In truth he'd never seen any beast with white fur before and had believed them something only in stories. "Brother Gorvenalus, sir, could you open up the gates? There's a squirrelmaid out there." As he's speaking he's already hurrying for the nearest stairs off the walls.

Eirwen waves and gets closer to where the gates are now so she can enter the abbey once the gates are opened.

Gorvenalus goes to open the gates to let in Eirwen, a quick look to make sure no one else is with her before the gates are once more closed. "Greetings and welcome to Redwall Abbey"The guard that comes over will take any weapons she may have to keep somewhere safe.

Spruce catches up to them then, breathing heavily. Intending to help out with the gate when he ran down a slight of stairs and through the snow, he now looks a bit sheepish arriving a bit late. "Hello." He says before the teenaged squirrel goes to stand by the recorder.

Eirwen nods, a smile "So this is the famous Redwall Abbey. Mother always talked of it, but none of us have ever been here before, well before now anyways."

Gorvenalus smiles "There is a lot of stories of our abbey that's been told for many, many seasons"

Glancing between the two, Spruce tile his head, thinking. "Do you hail from the northlands, ma'am? If you don't mind me asking, that is." He's deeply curious and that reflected in his eyes.

Eirwen says, "My name is Eirwen and I use to live in the far north woods, just before you get to the northern mountains."

Gorvenalus says, "We don't have too many from the northlands, there was a badger here that lived in a valley called Send, fairly far into the mountains I think he said, I will have to see if  anything was written about Send and Send Valley"

"Oh." The younger squirrel tries to fit both places into his interior sense of geography, but he can't quite manage it. "Is that by the East Sea, near Collinsel, then?" He ventures. "Oh! And I'm Spruce, Spruce Pineson - and this here's Brother Gorvenalus, the recorder here." He holds out a paw.

Eirwen speaks "Past it a little, I think there is a large city by a sea may be this... whatever it was, I tend to avoid large unknown cities."

Gorvenalus nods "The Northern woods are on the other side of the River Moss, well a little further along a path, you have to walk some weeks for the mountains and Send Village. I do believe, let me think... a small stream goes from those mountains and meets up with a sort of inlay place that then goes into the River Moss or rather the River Moss goes into it and onwards to the Eastern Sea. We do have a couple maps of the area, not of Collinsel though, just that it is off a path heading east away from the Northern Path"

"I see." In reality Spruce is a but confused by Gorvenalus, but no matter! He looks back at Eirwen "It's probably for the best you avoid old Collinsel - as far as I know, the last news we had from that place was in rather poor state, and that was at least twenty seasons before I was born... No one's come from that city since, neither." He shrugs. "I don't rightly know. But regardless, welcome to Redwall Abbey, Eirwen!" He offers a small smile.

Eirwen smiles "Well maybe it be a ghost town now, who knows or they just  on't  travel by land too much perhaps, I rather like land a lot better than water travel"

Gorvenalus says, "I like water travel, got to explore the River Moss not too long ago, very interesting"

"Well, I've never seen either of the great seas myself, and can count on one paw the times I've seen the River Moss." He laughs. "A land beast, through and through." Glancing up at the sky and then the great hall behind them, he adds, "Perhaps we could go inside? It's getting colder out here it feels like."

Eirwen nods "Well lead the way then Spruce, some Redwall food and drink sounds good right now, and there is likely a large fireplace inside as well. Traveling can be  fun at times but only hen you know when to take a break"

Gorvenalus says, "I have to agree, it is colder and my old bones dislike too much cold.Inside sounds good to me as well."

Spruce nods once, turning on his heel. "Aye, I can imagine. I came from the east myself, but during an autumn." He bounds up the stairs to the Great Hall, kicking snow off his boots before pushing one of the oak doors ajar. "Come on, then!" He calls over his shoulder even as he slips inside.

Eirwen, once inside she heads right to a chair by the fireplace and smiles "Oh yes, for sure a lot warmer in here than outside."

Gorvenalus steps inside and shakes off his cloak, he hangs the cloak out to dry and finds a place to sit down "This is the Great Hall."

Spruce does the same, shaking off his cloak and pulling off his boots - afterwards he beelines for the fireplace. "Much warmer, yes," he manages. "Not sure where to find food, as I'm non-too-eager to risk the frier's ire," He grins.

There are no classes for the Dibbuns today, much to their delight.  Dochas the squirrelbabe has been keeping herself busy, hiding books, drawing, breaking up fights, whacking her fellow Dibbuns with pillows, and overall just being her normal self.  She now comes bounding down the stairs into Great Hall, on her way to visit her favourite mouse, Martin the Warrior.  She stops when she sees that there's already people here, and she joins them by the fire.... only to stop and stare at the white squirrel in unmasked awe.  She just stands there, staring at Eirwen with her mouth open and her paws hanging at her sides in wonder.

Eirwen blinks as she looks at the dibbun, "Ummm... hi thar... can I umm, help you with anything there little one?"

When the dibbun suddenly appears among them Spruce can't quite hide the way his face falls - though he's thankful neither the gatekeeper nor the badger mother are here. It seems whenever they and the little devil kit are in the same room as him he ends up with someone yelling at him (though in recent seasons that's become less and less a danger...). He clears his throat. "Oh, hey, Dochas - this here's Eirwen, she just arrived here from the north, she did."

Gorvenalus starts to relax when a nervous novice comes down stairs and whispers to the Recorder who frowns and then stands up "Excuse me... I need to check on something in my office" And he quickly heads off, kind of fast for an old beaver.

Dochas scoots closer to the newcomer.  "Your fur is so pretty.  The only other white creature I've seen is Nissaya -- he's an otter.  He's a Brother of the Order and helps Ms. Angela in the Infirmary.  You're so pretty....I've never seen a white squirrel before..."  Currently she is ignoring Spruce, but that could change at any moment.

Eirwen smiles "Thank you." She then replies to the question "My mother had white fur, father didn't though. I once saw a tribe of pure white mice once on my travels but could not understand a word they said." She smiles "They made great cheese rolls though and seemed to dislike outsiders but me they seemed to get along with the short  time I stayed in that area."

Spruce had so far in his life at Redwall avoided the Infirmary at all costs and the ancient mouse that dwells within. He'd long heard of her temper and the teenaged squirrel made it a point of pride hat he's never set the old healer off (almost entirely down to the fact he's never had a conversation with Angela, and frankly he's not eager to change THAT). So hearing about another creature at Redwall with white fur that he's never met isn't that uprising, he supposes, especially considering his distance from a lot of the order...

"It seems to be a trait of the northlands. Some hares were here last summer who told of a big hare from up there who's fur changed every winter, though I didn't really believe them at the time to tell the truth as I didn't think it was a real thing. But I was wrong, it seems." Sitting down on the hearth with his back to the fire, he looks up at the white squirrel. "...Is your fur like that? Changing, I mean?"

Dochas has had the unfortunate fate of ticking Angela off multiple times, as well as having to be in the Infirmary from various illnesses (and that one time she ate so many stolen sweets that she made herself sick).  A dreamy look enters her eyes.  "Mmm, cheese rolls."  She finally acknowledges Spruce with a scowl, then hops up onto the chair Gorvenalus vacated and perches on its back.  "I've heard of hares that change colour.  One of 'em came on the rescue to get me an' th' other Dibbuns from those stupid slavers."  She remembers Dom, although someone must have told her that his fur changes colours since it wasn't that time of year when they were rescued.

Eirwen says, "It stays white in color. Which can be a bit... well hazardous when its not winter. Winter is my favorite season in fact." She chuckles a little now, a frown when she hears of slavers "I hope the slavers are long gone now"

"They are, don't worry." Spruce murmurs. "That was two summers back, I think." He glances at Dochas to check if he was correct. "I'd recently come to the abbey myself at the time. But regardless, I can see why that'd be hazardous," He laughs. "It's a good thing it's winter then, though I'd say there's not much danger 'round here anymore, so maybe come springtime it won't be an issue. Long gone are days of roving vermin."

Dochas nods vigorously.  "Yeah, DoraRose an' Matilda an' all the hares of the Long Patrol killed all the slavers!  They're long dead."  She listens to them talk, kicking her heels against the back of the chair.  "An' the vermin in Ferravale are really nice.  We have a peace treaty with them an' everything."

Eirwen looks a little concerned "With..vermin? Is that wise?" She looks so unsure, it's clear she has been taught to stay away from any vermin species she sees. "I think, yeah I will just avoid Ferravale and maybe stay here longer, I am unsure I don't have a home of my own, been traveling a couple seasons now"

Spruce nods. "Haven't had the most happy experiences at Ferravale myself, though I've only seen a woodlander really cause trouble there..." He shrugs. "Yet it's a few hours from here and no one'll blame you for not going out of your way to visit that place in this weather, I'd bet!" Giving another grin, his tail swishes back and forth.

Dochas scowls slightly.  "They're nice..." she mutters, then perks up slightly and stands on the back of the chair with perfect balance.  Spreading her arms wide, she exclaims, "You can stay here!  I bet everybeast would be happy to have you.... except Ms. Angela, but I don't think she likes anybeast, so that's just normal."  The Dibbun rests her paws on her hips as if she just solved everything.

Eirwen smiles a little," Maybe but I would have to ask whom ever is in charge first if I plan to live here or not."

"That'll be the father abbot, Benar, a squirrel like us." Spruce says, "And I'd also warn against getting on the friar's bad side - he's yet another squirrel, but as long as you're only in the kitchens to help," he can't help the side glance he gives Dochas, "He's nice enough, I'd say. Pleasant even."

Anyone and everyone who wants to get involved is certainly welcome!

About the Halyard base- I think it would be easiest and make the most sense to use the 23rd base that's already there! I had no idea it existed until recently when I stumbled upon it while exploring the MUCK! Right now we're actually doing an RP to start the mission to go their and hopefully jog Varus' memory.
The previous attempt was made from an old harbourmaster's house and was burned down during Zoltar's attack in the late spring/summer last year - I'm intending to build the ruins of the old base at some point to practice building on the MUCK, with maybe a camp inside made by some new comers to Halyard.........

The sea snake is still alive, somewhere. It might come back sooner or later........

As for the mayor, I actually do not know the name! He was Quinten's spoof and as such I've avoided mentioning him beyond a general reference to the "mayor"
I didn't even realize he was a sea otter XD

add medals to the current hares of the MT. list as well

Of course, though I want to leave that up to the character player's choice tongue

As for Donica being promoted, I'm hoping that'll happen soon! As for Dom, I actually asked his player about this, but unfortunately I have yet to get a response. On the In-Character side of things, Terrence has been trying to get Dom promoted for YEARS at this point XD

But I do want you all to still think and consider about the potential officer training for your characters tongue

Also - concerning Cole purely IC'ly: I think he has honestly more work to do than anyone else in the Patrol to have anyone take him seriously. There's been at least two years at this point of him starting fights, causing trouble, and otherwise unhelpful to the patrol. Slaw always seemed like the more responsible brother, but since his death Cole has been making an effort to do better which I think a lot of hares have noticed.

Yet that can't erase the image of himself that's been built up for years instantly and I doubt that he would be considered for any sort of leadership role unless his efforts to be more serious and responsible are shown to have stuck; for instance Terrence needs to see Cole constantly do better for some time before he supports the private's endeavours because honestly, Terrence doesn't really have much faith Cole is capable of much (for now, of course - Terrence's opinion will probably change with time)

Hello! I think it's about time to share what exactly I've been doing on the official site for the Long Patrol on the wiki (here) + some suggestions for the Patrol moving forward.

So first things first, the wiki!

   I added a new page, Medals: https://www.rwmuck.org/wiki/Medals_of_the_Long_Patrol

I've been slowly updating & editing the following pages:

  • A Recent History of the Long Patrol - still a WIP but have been slowly adding all major events in the LP's history on the muck

  • Rank Structure - added tables & streamlined some language

  • Long Patrol Non-Player Characters - added status (alive/deceased etc), medals (so that people can easily find out what the particular spoof/npc has done), and special remarks (based off of an edit Blisa first did for the spoof Flowerheart. I ran with the idea after I saw it tongue) I encourage anyone who has a spoof to fill out any details they using the newish format, like full names or medals or whatever else

  • Long Patrol Uniforms - added several more images of uniforms I've made for the LP, and I'm working on adding more!

  • Patrol Divisions - updated to reflect the transfer of Velm to the HG & Elbio's retirement + as well as more clearly defining how the HG is divided: Quinten is in charge with Koda (an npc) as his second in command. Under them are a whole host of different functions like the infirmary staff/medical section where Velm is in, the cooks, and any other logistical group in the LP as well as the actual guards who always stay at Sala to protect it.

I've been doing a lot of work in the Wiki as a whole, but these are all that are relevant to the LP

The second thing: Promotions

A while back we had discussed Donica being promoted to Lance-Corporal or Corporal, and I was thinking that maybe we should promote all current private healers (Donica, Rhonwen, and Zywie) to the rank of Lance-Corporal. The reasoning behind this is that now all three of the characters have been in the Patrol long enough to have gathered a fair bit of field experience and are currently the primary healers in the main patrol; they should have a slight seniority over the common private to reflect this. The biggest change from private to lance-corporal is that they will be asked to lead squads of hares when needed and to fill in for corporals when there aren't any. The other big thing about Lcpl is that they are on the short list for becoming full corporals and are kinda being tested on how well they fit the role - on the OOC side of things, I'm hoping this will cause more involvement with the LP as a whole

Now the third and final thing, my suggestion:

(I adapted this from an idea I had late in the night that I shared with Varus' player at like 3 am)

In light of Elbio leaving the Patrol and Velm becoming chief healer in the Long Patrol, the Long Patrol has a distinct lack of junior level officers meaning Lieutenants & Sub-Lieutenants who are actual characters.

To address this, I suggest whole plot about the LP starting an officer training program and opening it up to anyone who passes the initial IC tests, particularly aimed at recruits, privates, and lance-corporals. Then those who pass will have to go through around half a year of school/training/mentoring as an ensign before graduating to the rank of lieutenant or sub-lieutenant - it's a long time sure, but I think it will give the characters who go through this an opportunity to RP in a newish way: as a student and assistant which means interacting, learning from, and getting to know all the officers in the Long Patrol.

On the OOC side of things, I'm going to use a quote from this log posted by Lutea a few years ago:

Lutea wrote:

The biggest thing I look for with promotions are OOC initiative and the willingness to run scenes and events, spoof bad guys, etc. without IC personal gain. While IC characteristics definitely factor into it, having the initiative to create, maintain, and consistently participate in RP is the #1 thing I look for!

This still holds true to today for the LP as a whole, and I would to ask that anyone who wants their character to become an ensign to seriously think about this and whether or not they are willing to take a more active role in the LP or not-
With this I am hoping to drive up OOC involvement because I want everyone to take a more active role, be they private, recruit, sergeant, or captain!

We need the officer role to mean something again by encouraging whoever fills the ensign/lieutenant position to start their own plots, rps, go on missions, and above all not to wait on the likes of me (Terrence), Quinten, Greg, or whoever else etc to do things on the MUCK!

As an added benefit, the more people are willing to lead RP and stuff it will hopefully have the benefit of saving players like me from burnout which will help me greatly

This is really the first time I'm sharing this to the group as a whole and right now is merely a suggestion - I want people's feedback on this, please, and everyone's thoughts on if we should do this or not.

#114 Logs » The death of Zolomon A.G. Anderson - Long Patrol 12/22/21 » 2021-12-31 04:48:12 PM

The Long Patrol:
Lord Ciocan;
Officers: MJR(Cpt) Varus Swiftbuck, LT Redford Mosswood,  MSGT Terrence Cadwallader;
Enlisted: PVT Rhonwen Caddel, PVT Cole Cherrywood, PVT Flowerheart, PVT Zywie Mcbrim

Other: Zolomon Anderson (Deceased)

There was some drizzle of rain, the rocky clearing wasn't too far from the shoreline and also fairly close to Halyard still. A lone figure sat on one of the larger rocks, a bandage made of cloth on their leg and seemed to be fairly alert for the time being. It was also mid morning.

Zywie is along as a healer, with her a sling just in case and she keeps her eyes and ears open for any sounds.

As now with the sergeant being injured, Terrence had moved back into the field. His left paw is still wrapped - missing parts of his ring finger & pinky - and the bandages around his torso are visible. But right now he's the only sergeant on duty, and he sure as hell wasn't trusting anyone else at the moment. He'd heard a report of what Felicity did and he wished to avoid a repeat...
"So then, is that the spot?" The group is a good while away from where the former sergeant was last spotted. "For sure?"

Rhonwen looks around and frowns "He... was here, yeah. I don't think he could of gotten too far, then gain never know."

Varus has "taken charge" of this little expedition, the Major still believing himself to be a Captain, and with Gregorian nowhere in sight... Well... "Rhonwen, y' best be damned sure, then. We can't afford anothah screwup. Remembah, we're attemptin' t' take the buck alive. No foolish 'eroics, got tha'?"

Zolomon moves with a limp and pulls his hood up as he  looks towards the shore, tilts his head as he listens and then snorts as he mutters to himself. "Idiots be only ones ta be.... near."

Zywie frowns,"Take him back?" She asks a little concern "From wot heard he is.... ummm, well insane sur"

"Fat chance of him coming quietly, sah- captain." Terrence murmurs, hefting his burrowed sword. His spadone was lost to the snake - the lighter weapon he now held was for cutting, a single edged blade. "Be prepared to kill him if he resists. M-captain Varus, I suggest either you or someone of your choosing to take half the hares and circle around north, to surround him. I'll try to draw him and get him to surrender, if I can, but we want arrows at the ready."
He lets out a long sigh, glancing at Zywie. "No doubt he is, but he's still one beast in the end. I don't want anyone getting in reach of him - ranged weapons only. Bows, slings. Nets if anyone brought them - he'll be easier to wrangle than Dom was." Dom. He wished that big hare was here to help...

Rhonwen frowns "Nets? I didn't think of maybe a net... and doesn't he have ranged weapons too?"

Varus looks hard at the younger hares besides Terrence. "This is a recovery mission... Not a rescue. Every single one a' you tha' still thinks o' Zolomon as a friend... Give tha' up now." He looks at Terrence. "Good suggestion, Sahgeant. Rhonwen, yahr wi' me, Zywie, yahr wi' th' Sahgeant. Undahstood?" He points to several more privates, selecting them specifically to go north around the clearing.

Zolomon jumps down from the rock he was on and narrows his eyes, oh yeah he has some arrows. Like 3 aarrows so not too many as he tries to keep an eye on movement. He lost the saber but he does have a dagger if needed. He snorts as he aim his arrow and waits to fire till someone decides to get a little too close.

Zywie says, "I never really liked him." She nods at the  directions and goes carefully to do what is needed, also doing her best to stay alert.

Rhonwen stays close to varus, at least it wasn't in some dark hard to see space, though  wide open space wasn't  that great either.

It's with a sad jolt to his stomach that Terrence realises that out of all the hares present, he's the only one who knew Zolomon particularly well; those who worked and trained with him were either injured, like Felicity or Konner, or dead... Like Reuenthal or Greenhill or Slaw.  He grits his teeth, shaking his head. Zolomon would face those three soon enough no doubt, and he wondered what that meeting might be. Perhaps then the fool will see what he's done, finally.
"Very well then." He raises his paw. "Forward. Keep low and to cover - don't be seen. His crossbow can get off one shot, and if he shoots it - shoot him first. It takes half a minute to load, so be quick and don't miss."

Without another word the master-sergeant takes a bold step forward, marching with a purpose. Stopping just outside of what he guesses is the crossbow's range, he raises his injured paw - the white bandages impossible to miss under the sun. Perhaps it will be recognised as the symbol of parley it is, though Terrence has little hope of that.
"ZOLOMON ANDERSON!" He bellows, "IT'S TERRENCE CADWALLDER, of the Long Patrol. Don't attack - we have you surrounded. Lay down your arms and you will not die here. Please." The last word is barely audible except to the hares behind him,  the voice shaking.

Varus takes position behind Zolomon with his coterie of hares, paw on his sword handle. His swiss cheese memory is famously unreliable these days, but there's something dangerously familiar about their quarry. Something that makes a long-healed scar on the older hare's chest twinge. He looks at the privates with him, a wordless order to keep silent as Terrence speaks.

Zolomon narrows his eyes, and listens as Terrence speaks. A sort of odd chuckle comes from Zolomon as he speaks "Put down... my weapons, let me think on that... Terrence." The name said coldly as he steps into view now and lets the hood on his cloak fall to his back. He doesn't look behind him as his focus is on the Master Sargent. "I... HATE you!" He fires an arrow at the hare, being slightly off balance on his footpaws it likely, if in range enough, graze the side of the hare's face or arm, or just BARELY miss.

Zywie stands near Terrence, as she sees Zolomon appear she tenses up a little, "Oh... whoa, okay..." She blinks and starts to say something to Zolomon but thinks better of it.

Rhonwen lays a paw on a spear she has, waiting for any orders from Varus on when or if to even attack or not.

Terrence stumbles back as the arrow grazes his cheek, taking a bit flesh with it. But he regains his footing, takes a deep breath to ward off the pain in his bleeding cheek, and draws his sword.
As calmly as he can he steps towards Zolomon with the blade held in one paw & ready to strike.
His mind is made up.
There's no mistaking the look in Terrence's eyes if Zolomon cares enough to pay attention: a deep painful sadness - but not anger. Pity and regret more than anything colour  his eyes, clear as they are. But the buck's jaw tightens as he sucks in another deep breath, and pity gives way to determination and detachment.
Suddenly he leaps forward, still breathing deeply, lunging at the other hare with the sword brought up in a clean arc - there can be no mistake. He's aiming for the neck, to kill, and the power in his strike combined the cutting edge of the blade means that if the blow connects the former patrol sergeant will die.

And with that, Varus calls out, "Ready yahr weapons!" He draws his rapier, and the privates draw their spears, as the older hare ensures that should Zolomon turn and run, he'll meet a very pointy wall of well-trained fighters. "Hold th' line! Don't break formation! Advance!" With Terrence on the attack, Varus orders the rest of the hares to press in to block any potential escape routes.

Zolomon was not expecting a sudden lunge from Terrence, he catches movement and goes to try to avoid it when he hears Varus, that... distracts him, but he also turns slightly and the blade cuts across his collar bone, the side of his neck as he sort of gasps in shock and stumbles sideways, dropping his longbow and arrow he had left and hits the ground. He is losing blood fast as his vision starts to go dark he catches sight of Varus and tries to say something but, well... it is lost to the fact he coughs and finds he can't speak and lays on the ground kind of staring up at the sky in a odd daze as  life starts to fade.

Zywie steps back a little and then seems to debate on whether a healer is needed, right now she just stays where she is, it could be very dangerous to get near anyone right now.

Rhonwen has a spear and ready to attack, but is there anything to attack as she watches closely, that looks like nothing anyone would get up from at all. She will stay still, follow orders when given of course.

Private Flowerheart has had her halberd at the ready.  She prefers her father's halberd over a spear any day.  But the fight is over almost before it begins.  She stands there, waiting to see what happens next, a pained look in her eyes.

Having closed his eyes after he felt the blow connect, he forces them back open when he hears Zolomon stumble and fall, bleeding out. Terrence's eyes cloud over - he'd hoped to simply behead the other hare; a clean and relatively painless death. Not like this...
For the second time that day his jaw sets and his eyes clear. He can't leave Zolomon to suffer like that. Taking another deep, calming breath the master sergeant sets the blade edge against the gravely wounded hare's neck. Raising it with both paws he murmurs something only Zolomon could hear.
"I'm sorry it ended this way. I'm sorry."
With those words said the blade glints in the morning sun as its brought down swiftly.
The cut followed by a loud thud in the sand is unmistakable.

Zywie stays to the side and frowns, well it was over. She is silent and then speaks "WO... wot now... sur?"  She should check the graze wound on his cheek but it should be okay she decides and  maybe its wise to not bother the sergeant right now.

Varus's jaw is set grimly. He'd have preferred there to have been a different way to handle this. Once the deed is done, he sheathes his weapon, and approaches Terrence, grabbing his right shoulder. "Y' 'ad no choice. Don't dwell on it. 'E made 'is own bed."

Flowerheart stands down, resting the butt of her polearm on the sand.  Leaning on it, she waits a few minutes before speaking.  "I wonder how Sergeant Rosinbloom is going to take the news."
After it was done, Terrence had dropped the sword, recoiling from as if he had held a serpent. When Varus his paw on his shoulder, the master sergeant nods.
"Be that as it may, it does not erase who he once was..." He shakes his head. "No, it will not do to forget, lest another hare follows him."

Letting out a long sigh Terrence turns away from the body, sparing a glance at Flowerheart as Zywie checks his cheek. "That's the sergeant's business, and does no good to wonder. We'll bury him here-" The buck looks at the major/captain and anyone else who might object with a fire in his eyes, "Regardless of what he did, it's done and finished now, and he was a patroller once, and doesn't deserve to be left to the gulls."

Zywie nods, she steps closer "I... I will help bury him, maybe we can place a like... stone later"

Flowerheart gives the Master Sergeant an unreadable look, then lays her halberd on the ground.  "Where should we bury 'im?"  Once the spot is pointed out to her, she starts to dig.
Varus nods. "Aye, let's staht diggin' now," he replies, "So we'll be done before sunset. Sahgeant Cadwalladah... Do yah know whethah this hare 'ad any fam'ly or not?"

"Not that I ever heard. That badger Xander was perhaps the closest thing he had," Terrence shrugs, kneeling down and helping the grave digging, "But that badger's death is what kicked off this long trail. Besides, I doubt the Redwall beasts - Xander's family or no - want anything more to do with him..." For the first time since Zolomon death he forces himself to look a the body.
"Someone, get a sheet to wrap him in - then we'll bury him."
A couple privates do step forwards with a sheet and then help who ever is burrying the hare.

Zywie sighs, she stays nearby and seems to just want to get back to the mountain as yes, the ex-patroller is dead, a threat gone but it's still a little depressing right now some reason.

Varus nods his head. "Well... I'll tell Lord Sebastian that wot's done... Is done." He turns to help with the digging so they can speed up the process.

Once the body is wrapped in the sheet and placed in the hole (good thing they have shovels), Flowerheart starts tipping the soil back in.  She is quiet, and once the deed is done she finds a piece of driftwood and sticks it upright in the sandy soil.  Then she picks up her halberd and waits for the order to head back home.

When the last bit of earth covers the body Terrence rises, silently nodding to Varus. He walks back to the patch of blood where the execution blade still lay and bends to pick it up - holding it at arms length as if it were something unclean. Which it was; the blade is still scarlet.
Not making a sound he walks off, bringing the sword to the edge of the sea.
Then, with a mighty roar he hurls the weapon into the distant waves. After a moment or so staring into the ocean, he turns his back and returns to the hares. Not a word comes from him as he sets off back for the mountain.

Varus turns to the rest of the hares. "Right, forward mahch back t' th' mountain. No dawdlin', eh wot!" He gives Terrence all the space the younger buck needs.

Flowerheart nods, falling into formation and following the higher ranking hares home.  Once they arrive at the Mountain, they will find that Ciocan is in the forge room, working on some hare weapons.  Once whoever goes to make the report arrives, they'll see Felicity is there, too.  She's sitting off to the side, working on some paperwork.  They're in the middle of a conversation, too.

Terrence makes his way slowly inside the mountain, not speaking to anyone. There's certainly a commotion as the hares return, and the rumours start to spread like wild fire - not helped by the grim expression many hold, especially the master-sergeant as he brushes past many to get to his bed in the infirmary, the wound on his paw having opened up again and the bandage stained red. He'll be fine enough soon, but for now... He shakes his head.
"I'm on leave, dammit." He mutters as he throws his face into a pillow.

Zywie goes to the infirm to tend to Terrence's open wound, if anyone is there to help that be good to. She then goes on infirm duty.

Varus doesn't argue with Terrence going to the Infirmary, so he heads to the forge room. When he gets there, he knocks, and announces himself with a gruff "Ahem. Lord Sebastian, sir. A report." If only he could recall that name right.

Cole is in the training room when the group returns, he watches them come in and goes to follow Varus, a frown... should he correct the, what is Varus now anyways... "Ummm... sur... he is, umm... that's Lord Ciocan." Too late, he corrected him, he tenses up for possible harsh words from Varus.

The conversation trails off at the sound of the knock.  Ciocan's deep voice can be heard.  "Enter, Varus."  Felicity glances at Cole and smiles in a welcoming manner, although it is sad.  She has been melancholy for weeks now, and while she has been doing her duties with her same dedication and excellence, her sorrow is still affecting everyone around her.  Ciocan pulls a chunk of iron out of the forge and begins hammering it on the anvil, flattening it.  "What is your report?  Is all well?"

Varus salutes the badger. "Sah, we found Zolomon. Rhonwen's report was correct." His eyes glance toward Felicity. He doesn't wish to be indelicate, having been somewhat filled in on details he only half-remembers. "'E was holed up in a clearin' about a half-mile from Halyahd, Sah... Th' hare known as Zolomon... is dead, Sah." He pauses gravely. "We buried 'is body in th' clearin'." He declines to mention just who landed the killing blow yet.

Cole walks in, a salute is given and he enters and just... well he sits down. He listens as Varus gives the report.

The steady chunk, chunk, chunk of Ciocan hammering the iron piece continues as Varus speaks, but when he gets to Zolomon's death, sparks fly as the Badger Lord brings the forge hammer down heavy on the iron.  CHWUNK!  Ciocan places the iron in the water barrel, staring at the rising steam, his eyes heavy with sorrow, anger, and regret.  Meanwhile, Felicity gasps and claps a paw to her mouth, tears trickling down her cheeks.  "Is his grave marked?"  Ciocan finally asks.  "And was it one of my hares who did the final blow?"

Varus frowns, and clears his throat. "We marked it, Sah." He glances toward Felicity, before continuing, "Sahgeant Cadwalladah, Sah. It was self-defense. Zolomon was beyond reasonin' with..
Varus room-pages, "Hit enter too soon, but I was only gonna add a quotation mark, so letting it go as is.".

Cole seems, a mix of glad...a mix of sad and..confusion, he just stays quiet

Glancing at Felicity, Ciocan says softly, "Felicity, you are excused from duty for the rest of the day.  Dismiss."  Felicity nods, stands, puts the paperwork she was helping him with in her seat, and dashes out of the room, choking out sobs.  She runs and hides in the catacombs for a while.  The Badger Lord sighs heavily.  "I expect a full, detailed report from each member of this expedition on my desk by tomorrow morning.  Why was Terrence on this mission when he is on leave due to his injuries?"

Varus has no idea why, admittedly. The Master-Sergeant just seemed to push himself into it. The Captain-Major may have a memory like a sieve right now, but he's also shrewd. "At mah own request, Sah," he lies, "I knew Terrence 'as the most experience wi' this Zolomon fellow. I weren't expectin' everythin' t' come t' blows, Sah. Mah plan was t' bring th' offendin' beast in alive to face 'is ultimate fate 'ere at th' Mountain."

Cole just sort of....listens, he watches Felicity rush off and seems to debate on finding her, calming her down and maybe checking on Terrence

As Cole goes into the hall Terrence blows past him with a healer on his tail. Two heavy knocks are heard on the door to the forge, then the master sergeant waits to be invited in.

The healer is acting like Terrence is a dibbun, "Get back into that bed this moment, wot is blazing wrong get up like that, the nerve of you... I will tell his..." Oh they are by the forge... "Lordship..."

Lips pursed, Ciocan gives Varus a heavy look, but before he can say anything, another knock sounds on the door.  He listens to the irate Healer's voice, then calls out, "Enter."  Felicity is still crying in the catacombs where few can find her.

"I am exercising my authority as a master sergeant of the Long Parol, healer Redford." Terrence hisses through his teeth in a voice that leaves no room for argument. "I will return once the business is done with, you have my word."
When the badger says enter, Terrence does, standing at attention. "Badger Lord, sah!"

Varus looks over at Terrence and inwardly sighs. When will these younger rips ever learn? He stands up straighter. "You c'n ask th' Mastah-Sahgeant here, but 'e'll corroborate mah words. I asked 'im t' join our pahty as an advisah."

Raising an eyebrow, Ciocan looks between the 2 bucks.  "Even at your request, Varus, Velm or one of the other Healers should have forbidden Terrence from going on this mission, and you would have been duty bound to listen to them."  He eyes the younger hare now.  "How may I help you, Terrence?  Varus says you were the one who did the death blow."  There is compassion in the badger's eyes.

The healer sighs, he frowns "He didn't ask Captain Velm.... He just left the infirm..." Yeah the healer is likely gonna get grumbled at.

"Request? Help me?" Terrence eyes dart from the badger to the major. "Redford, take this as an order - leave, now." The moment of anger passes and the hare take in a deep breath before he begins. "Let it be known that I went of my own volition on the authority that is granted to me by my rank under you, sah. There was no other NCO capable of assisting at the time, nor did I fully trust the Patrol's ability to deal with the deceased."
He meets Ciocan's eyes, meeting the compassion with something unreadable. "I intended to minimise any risks to my hares if I could, as too many had been injured due to carelessness." He lets the words hang in the air for a moment. "I attempted to parlay with the beast, using white to single it, but he loosed his crossbow at me." He touches his scabbed cheek. "It grazed me. Afterwards, I fully admit to beheading Zolomon Anderson, killing him - though." His voice falters. "It was not as swift as I'd hoped. But it's finished now."

Renford whimpers, he then quickly leaves in a rush to get as far from Terrence as possible.

Varus looks over at the other buck. "Oy, y' don't 'ave t' protect mah poor judgement, Sahgeant," he says, blithely falling back on his mental incapacitation as a last-ditch effort. "I may be crazy, but I'm not bloody *crazy,* I sweah. Yahr loyalty t' protectin' mah current short-comin's is admirable, but misplaced." He looks up toward the ceiling. "I would take a bloody leave o' absence, but poor Gregorian is already ovahworked as is. Thank you."

A growl forms deep in Ciocan's chest.  "Enough."  His green eyes harden.  "One of you is lying, and I will not tolerate that.  When you write out your detailed reports, I expect the truth, and whichever of you is lying will face consequences."  Most likely being stuck on latrine duty for a month, in addition to double paperwork, or perhaps being locked in a dungeon cell for a few days.  Hopefully not too severe, but still a sufficient punishment to serve as a warning for the rest of the Patrol.
The badger takes a deep breath.  "This is an unusual case, which the records only have 1 prior recording of."  He is troubled that both cases of crazy, murderous hares have happened since he stepped up as Lord.  But he can't worry about that right now.  "As such, we are still unsure of how to deal with such treachery.  That is still no excuse for going against direct orders from the Healers.  Even though the Infirmary is intolerable to some, I expect the higher ranking hares in my Patrol to serve as examples of proper conduct for those under them, including obeying the orders from the Healers."
He shakes his head, sighing heavily.  "However, you are correct in saying there were too many accidents, although in many cases I would say carelessness is too strong of a word.  It is over now, although, again, I expect fully detailed -- and truthful -- reports from all involved in the mission on my desk in the morning."  The badger pulls the iron hunk out of the water and sets it in the forge fires again, heating up again under the coals.

Cole decides, it's important... find Felicity cause he is... NO WAY  he is going in the forge room, nope. He tries again and soon finds Felicity. He sits tea by her and a scone and just sits there for company, he will make sure she like gets to bed before he goes to bed himself.

"Technically no higher authority ever ordered me to remain - they never have had to, sir." Terrence steps back. "It will not happen again. But as for accusing myself of lying..." For the first time since they were on the voyage seasons ago the master sergeant lets his anger at the badger lord colour his voice. "I have always proven trustworthy, and would have hoped my now long service in the Long Patrol - and to you, sah - was enough to prove that. If you mean the major here has said something other than what happened, that can easily be forgiven - or so I should hope.  He doesn't rightly know me, or you, or himself, not really. And if a beast is to be punished for THAT."
He sucks in a breath, stopping himself.
"Earlier you asked if you could help me, and if that offer still stands," his tone is soft, wavering on the edge of emotion, "I humbly request two things: that you give me a week to myself, please, for today I killed someone I considered a friend once." He closes his eyes before continuing, "And that the Long Patrol never again banishes hares who hurt or kill woodlanders, only kill or imprison them. For the sake that no more hares turn out like Hanzi or Zolomon."

Varus steps back, falling silent. He's getting a splitting headache, as happens quite frequently anymore. The medics only say it's a leftover of his accident, something he still doesn't even remember. "Sah, mah apologies," he says. "An' if I may, I request to be excused." He looks at once exhausted and pale. "I've ovah-exerted mahself."

Ciocan stares at the Master Sergeant, his own expression unreadable, but hard.  "From what Varus was saying, I doubt it was anything connected to his mental capabilities at the moment."  He does reconsider what punishments might be necessary, though.  Since it's just the three of them, his warning should suffice.  He'd need to think of what punishments would be appropriate for the future should a more public lie occur.  The badger's gaze softens as Varus speaks up.  "Of course, Varus.  Dismissed."
Turning back to the younger hare, the Lord's gaze softens even more, back to compassion again.  He gets some paper from a small desk in here and writes a few things down.  "You may have two weeks off if you wish.  The order will be for a single week, but should you want another, tell me.  As for banishing hares..."  He sighs.  "I would prefer to never go through this again.  I can not guarantee anything since we do not know what the future holds.  But I agree.... this must change."  He turns back to his forge and pulls out the iron piece.  Chunk, chunk, chunk it says as he hammers it again.  "Dismiss."

Meanwhile, down in the catacombs, Felicity appreciates Cole's thoughtfulness.  Her tears eventually die away, and she sips the tea and nibbles the scone.  She does eventually go to bed, thanking him quietly.  She hugs her sister closer than she usually does that night...

"Thank... you, sah. That's more than I could've hoped for." Terrence says with a bow of his head, before saluting and leaving exhausted. He makes an effort to find Redford and apologising when he returns to the infirmary. He figures Felicity will speak to him if she wishes, but now he's thankful he hasn't seen her tonight - he wasn't ready for that yet.
Barely getting out of his still blood stained tunic - making a mental note to burn it later - Terrence falls back onto the bed.

Varus nods wanly. "Yes, Lord Sebastian, thank you." He exits, and leans against the wall, waiting for Terrence to exit. When the younger buck does, despite his own massive headache, he follows, ostensibly to get some painkilling herbs from the Medic on duty. And while he's there in the Infirmary, he makes sure to stop beside the hare's bed. "I ovahheard. Two weeks, eh? I think y' need t' get away from th' mountain. Olivia was 'opin' y'd join us when we visit th' 23rd base." Oh, my, he knows about that now. "I'm plannin' to take a few days off, t' go there. I won't ordah ya t' come, but..."

The only sign Varus receives is a muffled groan from under Terrence's pillow.

Varus takes that as a yes.

For now, I'd suggest Rioko gets temporary quarters in the gaol (the cells) until the LP decides what to do with her. They've had a lot on their plate and the most important thing is just need to keep her safe. I imagine the cell door is never locked and some of the nicer hares moved furniture and rugs and stuff into the room to make it more comfortable- though she would still have a guard to prevent her from sneaking off to somewhere she's not supposed to go, like the kitchens.
the hares haven't forgotten the supplies she ate XD

Also she might be asked about & allowed to return to Halyard if/when I can get the next miniplot I have planned going (probably mid January, after V&D's wedding)

I logged it! However, I put off editing it until today (because it's a raw feed that includes everything) because honestly it's kinda sad + I've been busy with the holidays.
I'm going to hopefully post it later today

#117 Re: Forum Help » Concerning the Search Function » 2021-12-22 04:30:57 PM

Thank you for the answer and i didn't think about the database load or the letter combinations - I was focused on page titles.  As for the wiki, I have been looking through all the old TPs and trying to collect them all in one place (at a snail's pace of course); I also wanted to try and start importing stuff from these forums onto the wiki more and the TPs seemed like a good start.

I think I may have spoiled myself with the wiki search function because yeah, it works waaaaaaay better XD

Edit: another thought. Would it be possible to restrict 2 letter searches for topic/page titles only? if not, I understand and I can make use of the ol' ctrl+f

I'm going to be fully honest - I've bitten off more than I can chew recently. I've been busy IRL a lot more than I thought I would be, and the meeting itself was never that important, especially now that the Rp dealing with Zolomon is already underway. Anything RP'd in the meeting itself is all information people/characters know, and there's not really much potential for RP that is at the least interesting, let alone fun.
I need to take a break from running stuff I think, at least for the next few weeks hmm

So yeah, the meeting hasn't been RP'd out but it has happened IC'ly- and personally I don't really see the point of RP'ing it out anymore. There's really no IC information I can think of that needs to be shared that hasn't already. One thing to note is that Terrence was NOT present at the meeting as he was more or less out cold in the infirmary recovering and so his thoughts weren't shared or his safety guidelines tongue

Sorry if this disappoints anyone! But tbh I feel like most people didn't reeeaallllly care so hopefully there's no loss XD

Log XXI. (21); Unexpected Report

http://forum.rwmuck.org/viewtopic.php?id=2223

Log XXII (22); The Serpent

Pvt. Donica, Sgt. Felicity, Cpt. Gregorian, Pvt. Rhonwen, Pvt. Slaw, MSgt. Terrence, & Mjr. Varus

To the north gulls wail incessantly, their cries having started just after dawn (much to the chagrin of the hares) and have been growing steadily louder. The sentries have just finished switching and with them is a change of pace. Nothing has happened for days at this point, not since the band of debt collectors came for the vixen - who is still condemned to her repurposed storage tent - the rumour spread from the earliest risers in the mess tent that several beasts had been seen lurking about during the night and that a fire had been spotted far off once the chill night air (presumably) became too cold to go without.

To add more fuel to the fire Msgt. Cadwallader has volunteered to take the morning watch with the other sentries; he left orders for the enlisted hares to continue on with their day as usual and enjoy their early morning meal.

In the mess tent most hares are now gathered around the tables eating, drinking, laughing, & waking up. A clatter followed by loud swearing comes from the far end of the tent as a sleepy-eyed Konner bumped Pvt. Harold's freshly brewed tea pot to earth, but the grumbling directed at Konner from the now tea deprived table is muffled somewhat he offers to fetch another fresh pot with a multitude of mumbled apologies

Zywie is doing her usual walk around the camp, check on things and then goes to head to the  mess tent for some food. She gives a way to the others nearby as she finds a chair to sit in.

Rhonwen glances over as tea is spilled and snorts slightly,"Who drinks tea so early, that's jolly well more an afternoon  drink, with some scones on the side."

Donica has been a little quiet since Velm had headed back to the mountain with Elbio, perhaps he had been asked to stay for a while ,that was fine since if he camp needed a healer they had her, they had Zywie and there was one other healer hare at the camp as well.

On the far end of the beach some gulls hang out, not odd as sea gulls sometimes are around on the beach, not near those hares though as most gulls dislike the hares, a couple brave ones every so often may try and get close to those on watch duty if a bit of food is dropped. Only one gull doesn't hang out with his fellow gulls, Rufus, and Rufus is no where in sight right now.

Gregorian was not a morning beast but the job required it so up he was. His limp was always worse in the morning and his mood stiff so he was silent as he went to get food. The clatter of noise made him grimace while he was still waking up and he muttered a few choice words under his breath but carried on to get himself breakfast.

Rhonwen's comment earns the hare several dirty looks from the table. As he passes by her with the pot Konner shrugs, saying over his shoulder brightly as he weaves around Zywie, "Lot's of hares!"

"We can't all have the grace of being bright eyed..." Harolds mutters from the table.

The noise to the north-west is slowly moving - as if it's creeping closer. Over the sound of breakfast though it's difficult to hear over the clamour of hares beginning their meal.

Zywie chuckles some, hey she likes tea so there. "Tea is nice." She left another private on sentry duty as she was told to take a break.

Rhonwen frowns, "Wot ever" She mutters a little and just gets some water, she is a little tried still also so a bit grumpy, not too much at least.

Donica sort of notices the noise but also its noisy in the camp. A sigh escapes her and she just decides to focus on the here and now, not any worries she may or may not have.

Gregorian is trying to pretend he can't hear the clamour of hares all around him. He was entirely failing at it too. There was a reason he normally had breakfast alone. He hasn't noticed the noise in the distance either, too focused as he is on trying to get hold of the possibly mythical toast that isn't burnt or under done.

Varus pushes his way out of his tent, looking serious and he stares down various privates that don't salute him as he passes, on the way to converse with Terrence. Olivia follows shortly behind, looking beyond stressed by it all.

Felicity has been back on duty for a while, but her air of melancholy still lingers, affecting everyone around her.  She has taken Rioko some breakfast, and now the sad Sergeant is in line getting her own food.  She has not allowed her sorrow to affect her duties, although she is a little less harsh when correcting the hares under her.  But she hasn't smiled since Terrence told her the news.

The hearty laugh Rhonwen's response earns from Konner is quailed as he sees the looks around the table - so he quickly deposits the tea pot and makes his excuse to sit somewhere else, ending up at near to the master smith.

"Captain, sah," he begins ventures as he spies Varus making his way through he camp, to "Is it true what they say 'bout Majo- eh, sergeant Swiftbuck? About how 'is memory is really... gone?"

It will be hard to miss further from the mess tent and eating hares the noise of the birds - and something else. Terrence stands on one of the pickets, peering over the defensive trench with a lance-corporal by his side. In the rising sunlight, it's difficult to see the outlines of the gulls flying in the distance and the dust kicked up below them by vague shapes.

"Seems least a league out still, I'd say." Terrence murmurs. "Not sure if it's coming ou' way yet, though."

Zywie sips her tea and looks around. She is finishing her breakfast and, right now anyways, in a good mood.

Rhonwen yawns, yep tried which may not be a good thing. She straightens up a little and smooths out her uniform after a while.

Donica decides she may as well get something to eat and drink before she does anything else today. She can be told when Velm is back, if he is back soon.

Some gulls fly around, a couple nearby fight over a fish they caught, but still no Rufus around, then he is always on his won doing his own thing .

Oh dear, someone wants to talk to him, how inconsiderate this early in the day. Greg looks up, a passable it of toast in his paw as he looks at Konner "Hm? Wot?" he processes the question while he glances around to spot Varus as well "It keeps comin' back tah him" and judging by the look of Varus and Olivia he had to guess the Major had remembered something and trouble was stirring. He leaves the breakfast line to head that way just in case.

Varus passes Greg and Konner by, as he heads out toward Terrence's picket. When he eventually gets there, he says, "Mastah Sahgeant Cadwalladah, any news tah report, wot?" He peers out over the trench as well, looking to see if anything stands out. Meanwhile, Olivia pauses by Gregorian. "Oh, good morning. Though you look rather put out to be up this early..."

Felicity has gotten her food and looks around.  Seeing Konner, the doe decides he could use some company and makes her way over there.  "'Ave y'gotten breakfast yet, Private?"  She asks as she sits down, forcing herself to function semi-normally.  She's technically not on duty -- her shift on guard duty begins when Terrence gets off.  Meanwhile, Rioko has finished her breakfast in her tent and has settled down for a nap.

"Wait, sah?" Konner hadn't expected Greg to just leave, and he gestures to the abandoned food as the officer heads off. "Captain, sah, did I say somethin'? You 'aven't finished your food yet..." He trails off once it's clear the master smith is preoccupied and decides to look for conversation elsewhere - and the sergeant present herself.  "Hullo Sarge! Oi, Donica! Zywie! Rhonwen! If you 'aven't found seats yet, this table's mostly open!"

So taken with whatever is happening to the north west, Terrence had not heard the officers approach behind him. Turning sharply on his heel and startled, the master-sergeant takes in the sight Varus before him as the lance-corporal salutes. His ears wiggle slightly as he tries to puzzle out the best way to treat the major, his eyes darting to Olivia's as if seeking some guidance there. "...Lieutenant, sah." He nods, hopefully a happy medium. "Gulls to the northwest," he turns back, his attention shifting back to the disturbance. "Looks like something large - o' many beasts - are making a ruckus up there," he points. "They don't seem to be heading straight fo' us, though, but I'm not sure yet. I was about to have lance-corporal Flightfoot go inform the captain."

Zywie nods "I have a seat already" She then smirks "And tea, hee hee"

Rhonwen is also sat down and just waves off the invite to sit anywhere else as things are, well basically calm for how it usually is this time of the day.

Donica sighs "Sure, why not just wandering when Lt. Velm will be back, he did take Lt. Elbio onto the mountain, said he be back after that, suppose he has reports ta tend to and all most likely, guess updating his Lordship on wotever been happening here"

Gregorian existed in a constant state of trying to put out fires before they had the thought of lighting around here. He didn't give a second thought to rudely walking off when he was distracted. He pauses by Olivia, cautiously eyeing Varus "I don't like mornings" he grumbled in response to her. Bit of an understatement really, his leg always ached worst in the morning while medication kept it livable the rest of the day. Though he didn't even like mornings back when he had two feet "Wot does he think he is today?" he quietly asks Olivia before Terrence's words make his ears perk and he frowns "I want eyes on it, we don't need more surprises"

Varus stares at Terrence like he's grown a second head. "I am th' Captain, Cadwalladah. An' don't y' f'rget tha', wot." He turns, to look off toward the northwest. "I think we should send a scout, wot say you, Sahgeant?" He looks toward the younger hare. "Flightfoot would make an ideal choice, wouldn't y' say so?" All this said before Olivia can answer Greg, "The Captain, I'm afraid. He thinks he's in charge here..."

Felicity raises an eyebrow, then gives Konner a look.  "Y' 'aven't answered m'question, Private.  'Ave y'eaten yet t'day?"  She starts in on her own food, staying calm even though there's obviously something happening that all the other officers are antsy about.  She figures if she stays calm, maybe everyone else under her will, too.

"Oh - Konner begins to stand, "I actually 'aven't - gonna fix that right now." But as he stands he glances at Donica. "But that reminds me, the L.T. isn't coming back then? Lt. Velm to camp, that is... Though suppose now that means we're all undah the sarge's and the captain's command again, then. Just like old times..."

"Captain!" Terrence had finally seen Greg, saluting. But his eye twitches slightly as Varus speaks. "Of course, sah. But I was meaning captain Harthwill here, who I didn't see before." He gestures to the northwest again. Now more than just the wails of gulls can be heard- shouts and something like warcries can be made out, an excited whooping. But the dust cloud kicked up is keeping towards the late line. "As fo' scouts, I'd advise sending more than just one. The hares just finishing breakfast might be a bette' pick, considering Flightfoot's already on guard duty and needed here, wouldn't you say, sah?" He looks pointedly at Greg.

Zywie blinks, was that some sort of whooping or shouting? She stands and wanders over to where the ditch is slowly but stays near the camp "Wot is that... noise?"

Donica shrugs "I don't know when Lt. Velm will be back, maybe something important came up at de mountain"

Gulls, well... couple fly around still, couple go over the sea... most are elsewhere.

Gregorian sighs very heavily. He'd been dreading the day Varus promoted himself enough to argue. At least while he thought he was lower in rank Greg could issue orders without question "Varus. He means me" he said even as Terrence clarifies, trying to keep his tone calm not irritable despite the morning as he points out the rank on his uniform "This is my command by ordah of his Lordship" he pauses then, his ears, even the one which normally half flops over, suddenly very alert and perked when he hears what sounds like a warcry "One hare, fastest scout we have, now. Get the rest of the camp raised and ready" he was very concerned and fearing the worst.

Whatever else was about to be said is forgotten as the warcry is clearly heard, and Varus turns to peer out to the distance. "A surprise attack? Now?" And then he's turning on the lower ranks, who are still milling at the breakfast tent. "Right, y' 'eard th' Captain, prepare f'r a possible attack."

Felicity is definitely distracted now.  "Dunno, Konnah, we'll 'ave t'see..."  Fortunately for everyone, she has just finished her breakfast, and having heard what Greg said, she steps forward.  "I'm th'fastest 'are in th' Patrol.  I volunteer t'go scout it out."  She tightens her sword belt and gets ready to go the moment she's given permission.

Felicity glares around the tent.  She knows most of the hares are still confused about what's going on with the Major, and so she decides to use her authority to help back him up.  "Y' 'eard Varus, MOVE!"  She then turns back to the commanders, waiting upon their orders.

"Hmm...? Whooping...?" Konner had returned with his plate full of food. "Whatya..." His ears perk. Even in the mess tent the sound are unmistakable.

The master sergeant salutes. "Understood; private Mcbrim!" Terrence is already moving into the camp as he speaks, barely sparing Zywie a second thought - "You take my position as sentry until I return. HARES, HARES!" He bellows as he slides to a stop in the open space in front of the mess tent at the heart of the camp. "At the ready! Prepare fo' a fight, quickly now - potential foesbeasts to the northwest. Sergeant Rosinbloom!" She had already begun to order the hares, which he was thankful for. "I need you to pick out your fastest runneh and go to the north picket - the captain needs a scout, I'll brief them on the way there. Get your hares ready!"

The gulls have stopped making so much noise now, but they remain in the air high above. One comes swooping down a hundred yards from the camp edge, giving a weak squawk, and topples over. It's hard to tell exactly from the distance, but there's no blood visible.

The cloud of sand and dust has moved more to the west now - avoiding the camp it appears. But the shouts and now screams are VERY clear.

"SWISHTAIL, GET BAC- AHGH!"

"WE ALMOST 'AVE IT NOW! KEEP IT FROM TH'WATER!"

At the centre of the commotion something colourful glints in the early morning sun, like fish scales.

Zywie frowns "Umm... I... okay" She is not so sure she wants to know what is near the water, but okay guard duty is okay she supposes.

Rhonwen looks over at all the yelling and quickly gets ready for what ever is going on, any attacks or what not. She is ready and now a lot more awake than she was before.

Donica frowns, a lot is suddenly going on and she dislikes it. A deep breath and she makes sure she has her sling, and makes sure she has any needed medical supplies just in case.

Gregorian squints out, trying to see what's going on and confused after the bird falls out of the sky "Go" he just says to Felicity's offer to scout it out. He was armed and ready for a fight already, there was the urge to march out immediately but he waited for the camp to be ready and he didn't want to send everyone in blind.

Rufus is heading towards the camp, but he has yet to get there as he glides towards the camp.

Olivia had already gone back to the tent she shares with her husband to retrieve her medical back, figuring that a healer will be needed soon. Varus also readies his spyglass, as he returns to where Terrence and Gregorian are standing. "So wot does it look like?" he asks. "Seems that they're bloody well avoidin' us, wot, but they can't 'ave expected us not to see it." Squinting through the spyglass with one eye, he tries to get a better view of the colorful mystery item or beast.

Felicity hesitates when Terrence speaks, but Greg outranks him, so she goes with that.  "On it!  YOU LOT, GET INT' POSITIONS T'DEFEND TH' CAMP!  LISTEN T'VARUS AN' CAP'N GREG AN' SERGEANT TERRENCE!  THIS AIN'T A DRILL NOR A DAISY PICKIN'!!"  Then she's off at a run, leaping over their defensive ditch in a single, powerful bound, landing in a roll that evolves into a run as she stands up out of it.  She heads for the commotion, stopping to check on the fallen gull briefly before heading on her way.  She bobs and weaves, doing her best scouting thing just as she was trained.  And she really is the fastest hare in the Long Patrol.  The only one who ever matched her was Zolomon.  Felicity pushes away all memories of their race and focuses on her task.

Rufus is soon seen and he soon sees all the, well it's kind of chaos and he flaps a little in place and frowns best a bird can and scans for his favourite hare, it's Terrence! He soon finds out where he is in all this chaos and flies towards him and almost lands on his head, he circles around and lands on a post nearby "Bunny Lord say alla bunnies needs return to mountain, I saya quickfast cause he say tellum, tellum all nowa come, come and no wait rounds.Alla bunnies needa listen now ya ya..." He also he a bit nervous as to what ever that thing is by the water "Rufus go now... comma now back nows and go get eatten by thing neara water, quicka fast... bye!" He is out of here!

"Donica -" Terrence had spotted the closest private to him while he was retrieving his gear, "Tell your squad - Konner, Zywie, Rhonwen - and any hare that looks like they don't know what they're doing, to met me and the officers at the edge of camp, to be on stand by if the scouting goes wrong and the sergeant needs support, understood?" Without waiting for a response he's rushing back to the picket, catching sight of Felicity hoping the ditch. "Captain," the master sergeant's slightly out of breath from all the running and shouting, "The hares should be ready at most in five minu- WAH! RUFUS!" The hares stumbles back as Rufus lands in front of him. "...R-Return?! NOW?" But the bird is already taking flight again. "THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT?!"

The first thing Felicity will see when she's passed the fallen seagull is the long, long trail of carnage. Several shapes are lying very still, a mix of woodlander and vermin alike, with one or two gulls - some of the creatures are mangled, while others seem to be sleeping. All surround a large groove in the sand that stretches all they back to Halyard. In the dust cloud a group of beasts all armed with spears, poles, long hooks, and the like are surrounding the long form at the centre - a massive snake, striped with rings of gold & red on black. It has in it's jaws what looks like the body of a stoat or ferret, but it's hard to tell as the creature thrashes its tail into the crowd around it, sending a mouse tumbling head over heel.

"QUICK! GET IT TO TURN INLAND!"

Zywie frowns, "Wot is with de bird?" She frowns more at all the noise.

Donica listens and nods "Alright every one, ya heard the Sarge... come over here..." She listens as Rufus speaks and blinks "It seemed a message from his Lorddship to come back right away to the mountain, we may haf ta sur? Maybe tis important?" After learning just what is on the beach, likely others will be all too happy to head back to the mountain.

Rhonwen walks over and scans a little best she can "Wot has them all scared I wander? Do we..." she hmms "Do we help or wot? Or some help and others...?" She is only a private so what ever she is told, she will obey.

Gregorian's paw immediately goes to rest on one of his hammers as Rufus descends on the camp. The order from the Badger Lord is met with a confused frown "Now?" he turns his head back towards the sound of screaming, the frown turning more determined "We're marchin' out" but not towards the mountain, Greg headed towards the exit of the camp, heading towards the sound of screaming. It sounded like beasts attacking something, like beasts in trouble not ones mounting an attack on them. Orders be damned he was going to help.

Varus lowers his spyglass when the bird lands. "We c'n hahdly go back now," he points out. "There's civilians in dangah, an' it's our sworn duty t' do somethin'." As has happened at least once before, when the adrenaline got pumping and an emergency was unfolding, it's like the older hare has a clarity of mind again. He marches back toward the lower ranks. "Konnah, Rhonwen, Lucius, Zywie, Petra, an' Stewaht... Yahr wi' me. That's an ordah, y' louts. Stand up straight, chin out, we're followin' Gregorian. On th' double!" He's barking out orders now.

Felicity checks some of the 'sleeping' creatures for bite marks as she spies the groove.  Her hackles raise as she gets closer, and she stops dead in her tracks when she finally sees what all the commotion is about.  She remembers back to the other coral snake she and Rioko met that one time... but no, this is a different individual.  The stripes are different.  But she can tell it's still just as dangerous.  She turns and sprints off, racing up to her remarkable top speed as she rushes back to camp.  When the Sergeant meets up with Greg and the others, her fear is fully evident upon her face.  "Sah!  'Tis a giant sea snake they're fightin'!  I'm no' sure th' villagahs can win against it!  'Tis a monstah, big as Asmodeus, per'aps!"

There's a moment after Varus orders the hares to follow & squads to mix that Terrence's eye twitches again, but he draws his spadone without a word and follows Greg into the sand. The badger lord would have to wait, after all.

The gulls have for the most part left with only a few now circling high above like dots. The Halyard beasts around the snake are made up of half mercenary group, half villager - but they are putting their all into it. They keep prodding and pushing the giant snake forward and away from them, with nearly all avoiding the area of the snake's head and the fangs below. They learned their lesson...

An otter stumbles towards Felicity from the mess left in the serpent's wake, clutching at a bleeding arm wound. "Oi, 'ares, 'elp...." He manages unsteady on his feet for few paces then falls on his face.

Zywie gulps when the snake is mentioned and backs up, at first till the order to go help is given. Another gulp and she nods "R... RIGHT... we havea help em."

Donica is ready to help with any healing needs, she also has her sling, it may help some at least, if anything they could get it away from some of the beasts if nothing else.

Rhonwen says, "But tis a... snake su... sur... snakes, wot if it eats us all?!" Okay she is freaking out now, she hates HATES snakes, she seen one from a distance and rather not see one from close up.

At the mention of a snake, Olivia is out, and she's one of the first to reach the collapsed otter. "Heavens above, he's been bitten. DONICA, OVER HERE!" she yells. "We need to stop the spread of the venom!" As she says this, she's turning him over, prepared to take drastic measures. Varus, meanwhile, looks back at Rhonwen. "Buck it up, Private, an' tha's an ordah! We 'ave to 'elp those villagahs. They can't stop that monstah on their own."

Gregorian picks up the pace once Felicity tells them what they're dealing with and he starts to see more of the carnage now they're out of camp. Suddenly the gull make more sense "Damn it" he mutters before yelling at the hares "Range weapons fire at will, keep yah distance, keep it from the watah and don't let it bite yah! Any wounded drag them back and away from the thing!" that includes the otter that collapses before them. Grabbing a spear he charges towards the creature "Charge!" going to try and stab it in the tail to draw it from the villagers.

Zywie will follow any orders, help best she can at what she is told to do. She will even manage to save a fellow hare and help a weasel also get out of the way. She avoids any snake bites, one bite just freaking barely she avoids.

Felicity is terrified, and rightfully so.  However, she gathers her courage and grabs a polearm from a  fallen mercenary.  "FO'ARD TH'BUFFS!  NO QUATAH, NO SURRENDAH!  EULALIAAAAAAA!!!"  She charges forward beside Greg, doing the first thing she can think of: "Oi, you, y'big ugly excuse foh a stick!  I bet y'mum was an eahthworm an' y'fathah was a wet piece o' rope!  Y'ain't a snake, y'a candy cane!!"  If that and getting stabbed in the tail don't get its attention, then probably nothing will.

Even with the attention of the healers on him, the otter's breath is slowing, then stops - the venom had acted quickly. As hares gather the rest of the wound, a quarter are likewise bitten and soon dead. The rest were simply struck by the tail or the thrashing of the snake itself - dangerous and often fatal wounds, but they won't die of venom today.

There's a wave of surprise as the Patrol arrives: not many realised how close they had gotten to the hares' camp, but few complain about the help. The tail of the great beast rises wand swishes at what it thinks is a insect bite and not the captain's spear, savagely striking the sand with a great THUMP, the tail sweeping outwards at the rats of the shouting bugs. As the woodlanders, vermin, and hares all regroup around it the creature stops its fleeing, coiling to avoid the barrage of stones, javelins, and arrows clattering against it - some have gotten through its scales, the blood dripping to the sand below, but most are harmless. The body of the vermin is tossed at into the throng, freeing the snake to hiss; a strange sound, even to those who have heard snakes before, and the white fangs flash in the sunlight at those who dare stand between it and the sea.

"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Terrence shouts, wielding the great blade as a pole arm more than a sword, poking at the creature.

"DAMMIT!" Olivia curses, a rare thing for the doe to do. She'd just tied a tight tourniquet around the unfortunate otter's arm to cut off circulation, but it was all for naught. Watching the otter die before her eyes makes her angry. She's seen death before, of course, but it never gets any better. After that, she turns her attention back to the other wounded. Varus, not far away, comes crashing into the fray with his sword. "Oy, yahr a great big worm, ain't ya? I've seen adders that look more impressive 'n' you... An' they were all dead."

Donica goes to help the otter best she can, at the same time try and make sure nothing gets too close to her and the otter.

Rhonwen whimpers, ok time to be a brave Long Patrol hare like she is supposed to "Okay... together we stand after all." She decides to try and use humor to calm down "The bigger they are de harder they fall and such"

Gregorian could see the lashing out of the tail coming, he was expecting it and yet getting out of the way was a lot harder. He times it though and with a lot more agility than he's usually assumed to have though the Captain jumps. He doesn't quite get high enough to get completely over the tail, he steps on it instead and ends up springing off the tail, landing with a roll on the other side "Keep back, keep it pinned in!" he yells as much at the hares as he's also yelling at the villagers.

Cole has been helping where he can, he has proven to be a good hare. He can dodge and weave fairly well, he may talk too much but right now he is focused on the mission they are in at this moment.

Felicity dodges the snake's tail, and as it curls up, she hisses back at it.  "Y'sound like a kettle 'bout t'boil!  Can't y'even speak?  Hah!  Addahs an' grass snakes are mohe impressive than you!  At least they can speak Common!"  In the back of her mind, she is wondering why everyone is trying to kill the snake.  What did it do?  But now it's too late to be trying to salvage the situation.  It's do or die.

Not all creatures were as quick as Greg - a rat takes the tail in the chest while Konner get nicked by the very tip; both are sent flying. The hare manages to stir with a groan when he comes to a stop, but the rat is out. Likewise at least two others are caught by the serpent's teeth, screaming as it tosses them with a flick of its head into the rest of the beasts. The taunting is ignored - it can't understand what the shouting means and it all blends together. It just needs to reach the water...

Terrence sucks in a breath as he sees another hare and village group get taken out. "OI!" He practically screams to be heard over the clamour of the fight, "GET BACK! NOW! DON'T PRESS TOGETHER - Leave space! o'- !" His warning is too late for several beasts as the tail sweeps down again, crushing at least one mouse and knocking others down. "HARES, grab the Halyard beasts and fall back to a safe' distance! Pull them away if you have to!"

Donica is still helping the otter, but maybe they can carry the otter further away, she frowns as maybe they  need to just totally back up and leave the beach, but at the same time they need to try and save as many beasts as possible also.

Rhonwen asks, "Where did it even come from? Do ya think it will dry out from not being in de water maybe?"

Varus overhears Terrence, and he nods. "Right, fall back," he says to privates that came with him, "Get the civilians back." He's starting to suspect the better tactic would be to make an opening and let the beast escape to the sea. "Gregorian!" he calls out, "Might I suggest a change o' plans..."

Cole grabs a crying otter dibbun before it can be hurt, another otter dibbun latches onto his leg for safety, it seems the mother was killed by the snake or is elsewhere in the total chaos right now. A tall weasel throws a spear at the snake,"Cough up me brother ya scalely pest!"

Gregorian keeps dodging the tail and stabbing the snake as many times as he can as he growls. He's loath to let it go but they were losing a lot and making very little progress "Get them out of here!" he yelled back at Varus though Greg stayed in the fight, trying to keep it occupied while Terrence is ordering the fall back of beasts.

Felicity manages to avoid getting smacked by the tail.  "Why can't we jus' let it go?  Somebeast explain to me why we can't jus' let it go, why do we 'ave t'kill it?!"  She leaps over the tail as she tries to help Greg keep the snake away from everyone else.  She was already here, up close, same as him.  She deemed it too dangerous to try to retreat right now.

While half the Halyard beasts have the sense to follow the hares, some are still trying to fight even as the serpent enters the shallows. "NO!" A weasel shouts, punching the hare trying to guide him from the snake, "We can't le' it get t'tha water! IT'LL GET BACK TO THE TOWN!"

Terrence splashes into the water after the weasel, his spadone still in his paw - the snake coils once again, the great colourful head rising high into the sky with venom dripping from its dagger-like teeth. For the first time many can clearly see the distant, almost alien-like black eyes - focused on the weasel, Terrence, Gregorian, and anyone else nearby.

Donica frowns, maybe they could start throwing spears or something! She frowns deeply this day has  gone insane.

Rhonwen whimpers, she finds a fallen spear and manages to throw it at the snake, maybe hurt it some and least get it distracted away from the main group so they can safely retreat better.

Varus normally is of a mind to kill some snakes, but this is something that certainly requires a bigger army at the moment. He turns on several of the village beasts, and bellows at them, "Back off, now! All o' yah!" He stops to look over at the shouting weasel.

Cole frowns, okay so this snake seems to not want to die,"Hey snake, ya ugly and I bet ya mama is ugly and why ya like de water, huh huh uh? You a coward snakeie huh, yeah ya are... ugly snake face, ugly scales... scales are so not in right now, nope... de villagers needa grill ya up for supper, with sale and pepper and maybe some lemon even and ya know wot they likely wouldn't even help...."
A  nearby rat glares at the hare "Shut up! How bout you stop talking!"
...Cole frowns "No..."
The rat grumbles "Yes.."
This goes back and forth a little while till both just snort and hmmmph annoyed at each other. But he will retreat and grabs the rat's tail so it is pulled back before it's smashed or something.

"Do yah see the trail of death followin' it?" Greg snaps back at Felicity. The pleads from the weasel to keep the snake from the water he ignores, there didn't seem to be a way to stop the thing. He growls back at snake when it coils up before he takes his spare and just throws it at one of the creature's eyes.

"Bu' tha' was aftah it stahted bein' attacked!"  Felicity hears the shouting weasel, but doesn't react to it.  "Whot're we s'possed t'do, then?  Nothin's workin'--AUGH!"  The Sergeant doesn't jump quite soon enough and gets clipped by the tail.  She lands on her back, her polearm clattering to one side as she strives to get air in her lungs again.  She sees the reptile's angry face and has an idea, but as of yet she can't share that idea with anyone yet.  She is right near Greg, though, so she, too, is under its baleful gaze.

One of the 'village' beasts is clutching a halberd and wearing a kettle hat; a rat who snarls back at Varus. "An' who h'hell are you supposed too be, long ears? Given' us orders like that!"

The weasel in the water is clearly of some importance to the Halyard creatures - he's wearing a brigandine and it seems his helmet was lost in the fray. He stumbles, and Terrence reaches him, catching the vermin and keeping him on his feet. The large sword is held resting the flat of the blade against the master-sergeant's shoulder as both weasel and hare gaze up at the snake above them the eyes holding some sort of recognition of the hares it saw that night weeks and weeks ago, and then -

The spear strikes true. Snake makes a sound as if it was screaming in pain, but its not dead.

With a last, vicious thrash, it strikes down blindly at the closest beasts.

Terrence barely has time to throw the weasel forward and bring the spadone up to try and use it as a brace- the weasel is caught by the serpent's fangs in the side with a scream, piercing the armour easily. The hare is thrown back into the water, the jaws of the snake closing around his sword like a brace, the fangs sticking through the still screaming weasel barely missing him. The weasel, trapped between the flat of the blade and the teeth, is now shrieking louder than ever. Terrence blinks back tears as he feels part of his left paw sheer away by the sword blade and the saltwater in the fresh wound - and above all the pressure of the snake trying to rip him apart.

"Greg, dammit! We can't beat this monstah wi'out a full army be'ind us," Varus yells, from the other side where he's STILL yelling at beasts to get back. "Think o' yahr daughtah. Don't be a bloody martah." It's about the most lucid thing that Varus has said in months. He also glares over at the weasel again. "Wot's yahr best suggestion, mate? Because if ya ain't got two eyes t' notice, we're kinda ovahpowahed 'ere." And then it all goes to hell. "TERRENCE!" he yells, running forward with his sword raised, ready to attack the distracted snake like a beast possessed. He slashes at the snake with little regard for his own safety.

Donica makes sure the weasel is safe and in stable condition before she finds a dagger and throws it at the snake "Leave the Sargeant alone!" She also grabs a spear from a weasel thats froze in fear and goes to jab the snake in neck or the eye or what ever is closer!

Rhonwen backs up, keeping a pawful of villagers away from the snake, she gulps a little she isn't sure what to do now, this in insane.

Cole eyes go wide as he backs up quickly and shivers, okay he has lost that sudden courage as he backs up more "We are all......... GONNA DIE!"  He then faints, luckly close to someone who can pull him to safety.

Gregorian didn't expect the spear to kill the snake, hell he barely expected it to do anything at all. If he lived he'd have time to be surprised about hitting it later. If it had disappeared in to the sea he'd have let it go but it didn't and there always seemed to be someone in danger from the thing still so he'd rather the thing attacked him than them. He snarled when Felicity was hit but he couldn't really do anything about it, he had to dodge himself. Terrence and the weasel go in the water though and "Damn it" he mutters as he charges on in a short distance away from the creature's head. He was a good swimmer, he was going to at least try to get the hare away.

Felicity rolls to her feet, sucking in air.  "Terrence," she's barely able to whisper, her body still aching from being slammed into the ground.  Deep in her heart, she does still care for him, even if she hasn't shown it or even acknowledged it.  Grabbing her polearm, she staggers forward, darting towards the snake's head.  "MOUTH!  GET IT IN TH' MOUTH OH TH' EYE!"  She stabs with her weapon near the creature's mouth, trying to get it to open up and let go.  The moment it does, she is going to leap forward and try to drive the polearm through the roof of its mouth!  If it doesn't open up...well, she'll keep stabbing at its face until something happens.  Hopefully something that will turn the tide in their favour.

The spear used by Donica, Varus' sword, and Greg's hammer all serve the same purpose.

Nothing seems to pierce the snake's scales, but the battering proves too much - especially now the great beast is blinded in one eye and now the assault on its remaining eye and mouth. It twists away in the water, moving far swifter now, the whimpering weasel still in its jaws and dragging Terrence up into the air as the great sword is caught. His strength fails and the master sergeant falls limp to into the shallows, his sword still trapped in the serpent's fangs with the weasel.

With a last flick of its tail lash out at the danger as the snake slips into the water, the sound of weasel is cut off when he and the head slide under the waves. The seafoam is red along the shore, especially were the great serpent disappeared; but that soon fades.

Donica gasps, she hurries over as she is a healer and first will make sure Terrence is out of the water, unless someone else does first. She will still quickly check on his wounds and do what is needed to stop any serious bleeding.

Rhonwen almost trips as the snake disappears and grips her weapon as if expecting the snake to suddenly return and attack all of them. She glances left, right, down and some reason up as if the snake was  gonna appear from the sky.

Varus is caught square in the stomach by that last tail lashing, and sent sprawling back into the surf as the great beast flees. The old buck is left winded, and a bit dazed. "Damn..." is his only spoken word as he just lays there.

Zywie glances at the beasts she and others helped get moved away from the snakes path, a frown still as there was still a lot of damage left from the snake and she hopes it just goes off to finish dying.

Gregorian is already in the water, the weasel was bitten so he assumes they're already done for and he just focuses on Terrence. The swirl of the water as the snake leaves doesn't help but he reappears near the master sergeant and goes to drag him back to shore to let Donica take over while he tries to catch his breath.

Donica does the best she can to tend to Terrence wounds, she asks another private  to see if anyone, even some villagers are healers that want to help to please help the wounded, her focus is Terrence right now.

Felicity throws the spear after the retreating snake, then turns, still sore from her tossing.  She stumbles after the others, pushing through until she gets to the Master Sergeant.  "Terrence!"  Once he's safely on the sand and being cared for by the Healers, she goes to stroke his head, trying to stay out of the Healers' way while also trying to comfort him.  "Terrence, look at me.  Y'no' allowed t'die, y' 'ear me?"

While the patrol hares are moving about, the Halyard creatures are mostly in a state of stunned silence. The snake had left as quickly as it had appeared for them.

"Cap'n Lawel," A rat ventures, staring at the spot the snake and weasel disappeared. "It got 'em..." There's grumbling from the others. "The snake got away!"

Terrence shows no sign of dying yet - the largest injury is his paw where the palm had been cut away with parts of his fifth and fourth fingers. He was alive and, while dazed, was awake. He certainly is happy to be out of the cold winter sea.

"Where'd-" his teeth clatter as he looks around at all the hares as his head clears. "W-where'd the blasted thing go...? Di' you get it?"

Olivia pushes in between all the other hares to attend to Terrence. "Out of the way and back up, all of you... Give him some space." She begins to bandage that paw. "You're lucky you didn't lose your whole damn arm." Varus, meanwhile, pushes himself up after a bit, still pretty winded, and minus his sword. "Th' blightah got away. My official recommendation t' Ciocan will be that we organize a much largah search pahty t' make sure tha' beast 'as gone somewhere t' die."

Gregorian resting his paws on his knees slowly gets his breath back and eyes the beasts from Halyard already wondering if there's going to be more trouble. He finally straightens up "Aye, we need a runnah back tah the mountain. We're not goin' anywhere until the healahs have done their thing" he replies to Varus, his gaze uncomfortably slipping to Terrence afterwards.

Felicity is genuinely offended as Olivia shoves her to the side, but she decides to let it go.  "It go' away.  I'm sorry, Terrence.... I... I tried t'stop it..." she's starting to ramble, the shock of how frightening the situation was, as well as the horror of the carnage and the fact that she almost lost some (more) dear friends is starting to get to her.  The look on her face should be recognizable to everyone who knew her after the Dibbun rescue mission when her mind cracked.  She needs a little jar back into the present.

The thin lipped look Terrence gives the retired lieutenant is perhaps a sign that he's exhausted and countenance is fraying. "Bette' an arm than the venom." He mutters but otherwise is compliant.

Konner had managed to stumble over, holding a rag to his bleeding forehead. "Maybe the damn serpent can go meet th'mystery beast 'unting ouh 'ares, wot, and they can do us a favah an' kill each othah, eh, sahs?"

Some of the Halyard beasts step back when the captain looks their way, but others remain defiant. "So you lot are going back t' yer mountain hole?" A hedgehog standing beside the rat who spoke early - the same hedgehog from the bakery -  tilts his head. "Well, erm, still, thanks, for the help."

"But cap'n Lawel- the longears left him!"

The old healer finishes her work, and sighs at the Master Sergeant. "I've seen too many brash young hares get themselves maimed or worse. Just... Be more careful. I may be retired, but the chief medic back at the mountain is a good friend of mine, and I know he'll back me up in this... Sergeant Cadwallader, I'll be making the recommendation that you take at least a three week leave until this is properly healed. Don't argue about it." She sighs, and turns to bandage Konner's forehead next. Her husband nods to Greg. "Aye, I concur..." He looks at the other hare intently. "We shoulda retreated soonah, though. There was no way we coulda taken that beast down wi'out more back-up."

The death and injury seemed to do nothing to Greg. He'd seen it too many times and he was very calm for going through yet another near death experience. He went to tap Felicity on the shoulder though because he knew that look "Organise the troops and we need someone tah send work tah the mountain" he was trying to give her something to do to distract her. After that he looked back at Konner but he doesn't clue the hare in, looking to the Halyard beasts. From context he assumed Lawel must have been the weasel "He was bitten" he says as he shakes his head "There was nothin' tah be done" Finally Varus gets a glance "We'll discuss it latah" he mutters back. He wasn't in the mood and there was a lot to do. Besides, he could beat himself up and build up a healthy amount of guilt even without the help.

Felicity blinks, then nods.  "Aye, sah.  Organize th' troops.  Run back t'th'Mountain wi' th' news.  On it."  She only pauses long enough to look Terrence in the eye again.  "We'll talk latah....when...when y'feelin' bettah, wot."  Then she's up and back, shouting commands at the hares and letting the higher-ranking officers handle the understandably upset Halyardians.  The Sergeant gets makeshift stretchers for the wounded from both parties, getting the Healers to help all of the wounded, not just the hares.

Then the wounded hares are carried back to camp, where they discover that, in her terrified state, Rioko ate almost all the supplies.  They only have enough food left for two more meals.  So that's fantastic.  After giving the vixen the greatest chewing out of her life, Felicity runs back to Salamandastron with Flowerheart.  They have a lot of explaining to do.  Including the fact that a chubby vixen may be accompanying them when they all come back...

"You'll find no arguments here..." Terrence shrugs, settling down. "Though I could have sworn the chief medic had been planning on retiring last month. And I'm pretty fine, Felicity, all things considered!" He adds after seeing her face there. He'd genuinely missed that she was right there. "Feel like I got hit by a boulde' though. Nothing short bloody artillery could've stopped that thing, I'd say."

The rat closes his mouth, muttering something dark under his breath, and turns away. Some of the other beasts linger to watch the hare healers - especially those that are dealing with the injured Halyard beasts. But most are turning to deal with the carnage left behind - nearly all the dead are non-patrol beasts save for two hares; it seems that without the Patrol being there, things could have gone much, much worse.

The hares follow the sergeant's orders - those not dealing with the causalities that is - and begging readying to return home the next day. None of the hares wanted to stay in the camp at this point and they were glad to return home - ESPECIALLY now that the supplies was more or less gone. Felicity might have some extra work to do when she returns, keeping the vixen safe and alive from here mob that now looks  positively murderous.

"We should have fed you to the snake!" Is one of the kinder things shouted by the hares.

On the way back, Olivia takes Terrence aside, whispering to him about the little trip she's already okayed with Gregorian two days ago. Varus, for his part, seems fine, and all too eager to get back to the mountain.

"So much for the three weeks of leave, then." Terrence can't help but mutter as he looks up at the sky.

#120 Re: The Long Patrol » A Snake in the Sand - LP Mission Mini Plot » 2021-12-16 01:53:50 PM

Hey, just wanted to say that I won't be online until the 18th, probably. We've had some pretty nasty wind storms here for the past few days which made my power & internet cut out a heck of a lot + I've been busy because of the holidays + trying to cut back on my time staring at a screen has all amounted to me being lazy and not touching my laptop since Saturday  tongue

I'm intending to get the log from last Saturday up today or tomorrow at the latest - for all intents and purposes, this mini-plot is done with! Thanks everyone who took part

Also also, to address something discussed at the end of the RP last Saturday, the IC meeting at the mountain - I suggested making it an RP on the forums and most people seemed to like the idea. I'm gonna try and start that later today/tomorrow as soon as I can figure out a good way to explain how forum RP works in a simple & understandable way for people who might not be familiar with the style.

Basically, instead of taking place on the MUCK the RP will take place on the forums (obviously); the main advantage to this style is how people can take time with their replies/poses and don't need to all be online at the same time! The IC timeframe for the forum RP will be several hours AFTER Greg's company (the entirety of hares who took part of the Snake in the Sand plot + Terrence, Varus, and Olivia) get back to the mountain, so around a week ago - sometime after the 4th of December tongue

You pose using replies on the forums and keep OOC comments either OUT of the forum thread or say them in brackets with OOC: in front, ((OOC: like this)). I really, really want to avoid the RP thread being bogged down by OOC discussion tho, and ask that if discussion is needed it's done in a different thread like this one or somewhere else.
Also, obviously not everyone needs to take part especially if they don't want to, so don't feel like you have to reply to it!

I also encourage people to take advantage of this and take time with their writing, have fun, and experiment instead of simply rushing to post as fast as one can smile

As far as I know, there are really only three major things to discuss: Zolomon (obviously), Velm's promotion, and Olivia's plan to get Varus to the old 23rd base near Halyard. Also some discussion about what happened in and around Halyard, but that's pretty connected to the Z situation

As soon as I have an opening that I'm happy with I'll get it started in the RP chat section, but please be patient with me!

Just as a heads up, quite a few LP members are currently online and RPing the end of the Snake in the Sand mini-Plot/Mission on the western shore!

#122 Re: RP Chat » When are we RPing? » 2021-12-09 08:10:45 PM

Hey, I know I'm an hour later than I said I would, but I am currently online. A lot of RL stuff came up that I had to deal with & it took far longer than I thought: it had to take precedence to the muck.

Anyway, I am currently online to do the first half of the final if people show up, otherwise I'll do it all on Saturday.

#123 Re: The Long Patrol » A Snake in the Sand - LP Mission Mini Plot » 2021-12-08 07:03:34 PM

Hey! Just as a reminder, the first part of the final RP for this mission will be taking place tomorrow:

Thursday, the 9th of December, at 7pm EST, 6pm CNT, Midnight GMT

The second half of the rp will be starting on this Saturday, the 11th, at 3pm EST

I might not be able to get online on time tomorrow and might be a half hour late, so I encourage everyone to start RPing WITHOUT me.

To set the scene, just simply paste the following Pose(s) at the start and go from there!

To the north gulls wail incessantly, their cries having started just after dawn (much to the chagrin of the hares) and have been growing steadily louder. The sentries have just finished switching and with them is a change of pace. Nothing has happened for days at this point, not since the band of debt collectors came for the vixen - who is still condemned to her repurposed storage tent - the rumor spread from the earliest risers in the Mess tent that several beasts had been seen lurking about during the night and that a fire had been spotted far off once the chill night air (presumably) became too cold to go without.

Harold's freshly brewed tea pot to earth, but the grumbling directed at Konner from the now tea deprived table is muffled somewhat he offers to fetch another fresh pot.

#124 Re: The Long Patrol » A Snake in the Sand - LP Mission Mini Plot » 2021-12-04 04:44:16 PM

Hey, so a change of plans! Because I am unable to be online for as long as I'd hoped for today (I only have a few hours) and I want to give the plot some breathing room, the end of the plot will be split between taking place on both Thursday night at around 5pm EST & Saturday at 2-3pm EST so that everyone can have a chance to get online and RP!
This will also hopefully help the RP to not feel crammed/rushed as well

Today we're doing a smaller scale scene of asking Rioko some questions

#125 Re: RP Chat » When are we RPing? » 2021-12-04 02:39:05 PM

Hey, so I am online to run the Snake in the Sand RP and will be online for the next 4 hours or so!
