FV:Town Hall:Chieftain's Office

This is an office where the Chieftain does some of his work. A large desk sits in the room and has varies important papers on it. A chair is by the desk and a window looks outside.

Exits: [H]olding [C]ell, [B]ack

All is quiet, too quiet as the only ones here is Scioto, oddly looking to be napping by the wall and there is the lone rat in the cell who hugs his knees to his chest and whimpers. There is no mess in the office, but the top drawer is open and an important scroll missing, and there is a mug of maybe a couple sips of ale....other than that seems fairly normal.

The silence is broken by a knock on the door. There is a pause as the swift fox on the other side waits for Scioto to open the door. He holds a small mug of tea in one paw. Bandit spikes the tea with just a little whisky before quickly hiding the flask under his tabard. "Come on Scioto, any day now." He says with a sigh.

Ferdinand has been busy keeping Blisa occupied.

All the things that can't be replaced in the Chieftain's house have been packed up and the furniture covered. Paint has been bought, and tomorrow the guards are planning on repainting the interior of the house. Blisa has actually been looking forward to it; she has been promised the opportunity to paint murals on the ceilings.

The young cat, flanked by her ferret bodyguard, Clarissa, and Valerie, comes down the hall, hugging her messenger bag full of art supplies close to her chest. As they come up behind the Head Guard, Blisa begins to feel uneasy, and her body language communicates it. "Bandit? ....I didn't expect to see you here...." The vixen bodyguard had been sure to tell Bandit that Blisa has been a bit...on edge for the past few weeks and that he needs to be extra careful around her.

Ferdinand purses his lips and bangs on the door. "Thir Thcioto? Are you alright?" Clarissa casually draws a knife and begins flipping it around in her fingers....

They do not like the looks of this....

The rat whimpers from the cell, he looks at Scioto as its not like he will answer so he debates on answering himself, so he does and that should bring up big alarms "Just open the door already! Get me outta the cell!!!" It's clear he rather not be in here and most likely will do a lot of talking.

The fox cringes at the look he is given, deciding today would be a good day to tread lightly around the kitten. He swears, Blisa is a friend but the fox fears the day she becomes leader...

His ears fidgit at the cry for help, one that does not come from Scioto, "Guard Blisa." He says calmly in a way that makes it sound like an order. He reaches for his side, drawing a dagger rather than reaching for his sword before pushing the door open.

"Scioto. Are you ok? Scio-" A look of shock over comes his face when he sees the cat prone on the ground. He rushes to the cat's side, "Scioto! Scioto! Someone get in here and help!"

Oh shanp. Blisa is held back by Clarissa, who is more than ready to throw her knife if needs be. Ferdinand half draws his sabre but, upon seeing his boss laying prone on the ground, sheaths it and backs out of the Healer's way. "MOVE!" Is Valerie's shout as she shoves her way forward. Checking for pulse, breathing....anything. The young cat drops her bag (which is fortunately slung over her shoulder, but still) and stares at her father. "....Daddy? Daddy?? DADDY, SPEAK TO ME!!!" Ferdinand lets the rat direct the cat inside the room, then he shuts the door, and moves, with a stride communicating his strength and power and speed, to the cell door. Grabbing one of the bars, he glares murderously at the captive and growls dangerously, "What happened?"

The rat bacs off "I didn't kill him...Zurrgg and the one marten did...t...the..."He points to the mug. Scioto answers no one as he has no life in him, he is dead and has only been dead a short time. The rat whimpers, he been in the cell this time!

The fox can only watch in horror as the others move to help their fallen chieftain. Running a paw across his muzzle he repeats the word, "Zurrgg..." His eyes turn for Blisa. "Get her out of here NOW!" He points as he shouts before moving to the cell, "/What/ marten. All you know. Out with it!"

Blisa starts to hyperventilate, then she claws Clarissa (who was expecting it, but she can't move faster than the cat) and rushes to her father. "Daddy...." her voice breaks as she goes to hug his head close to her. Her eyes are unfocused, and she starts to rock as she mumbles, "Momma.....Maxxie......Daddy.....Jase....Momma......Maxxie....Daddy...Jase...." over and over again. Ferdinand points at the rat and barks, "Belay hith order! Go tell the retht that it happened and we need to leave! GO NOW!" Clarissa sheathes her knife and runs off as fast as she possibly can. Valerie digs out her knock-out herbs as the young cat's chant of those she loved starts getting louder and louder. "Blisa, calm down, please, we need you to focus! There'll be time to mourn later!" The vixen is duly ignored. The ferret turns around and bangs on the door, probably the most furious Bandit has ever seen him. "ANSWER HITH QUETHTION!!"

The RAT frowns "I...I...it was Zurrgg and Kolur, they came in here...they talked and then Scioto suddenly wasn't breathing after drinking the ale...and he fell over dead and Zurrgg laughed, he also took something from the desk....I was not involved, yes I was involved in the fire in the market place but not this!"

The fox's eye twitches. "Kol-ur." His demeanor becomes calm, eyes narrowed. "Kolur." His mind is now racing. He knows the marten. How many other guards, BANDIT'S Guards does Zurrgg have on his pay role? "Ferdinand. Get Blisa out of here. Find somewhere safe. Don't tell anyone where you are going. Not even the guards." He points a claw at the rat, "You. Keep talking. The longer you spill your guts the longer we keep that /only/ a metaphorical statement. Where did they go?" Even as he talks he is already at the desk trying to figure out what was stolen.

Blisa suddenly jumps up and dashes to the desk. She goes to shove the fox out of her way, unaware that she has her claws out. Grabbing papers and chucking them, she shouts, "Where is it?! WHERE IS THE PEACE TREATY?!"

As papers fly through the air, Clarissa sticks her head in. "We're ready, Cap'n." Ferdinand turns as he is addressed. "Valerie, you are in charge until I catch up with you." As Hank sticks his head in through the doorway, the ferret points to the Chieftain's body and says, "Take Thir Thcioto with you." The huge fox nods and goes to wrap the dead cat up in a sail, donated by the ratmaid.

Blisa screams, "THE PEACE TREATY IS GONE!!! ZURRGG STOLE IT!!!" Clarissa grabs the screaming, writhing, crying cat and drags her away. Hank hopes to be following closely, carrying the body of the Chieftain.

Ferdinand grabs Valerie's arm and murmurs, "Take the route we talked about." The vixen nods as she follows the rest out the door. The ferret turns to the Head Guard. "They are on their way to thomeplace thafe, don't worry. Their cover thtory ith that they're going to a thtorage thed in the woods; Valerie will drug Mith Blitha if neccethary and thay that the'th not feeling well."

He sits down wearily. "We've been plannin thith for weekth...." Now, did anybody tell Bandit about this whole thing after Nightbreath warned them about his vision???

The rat gulps "He...he said he was gonna go find some abbot or other and burn the treaty...end it....Zurrgg has beasts here that follow him by the way....." Another thought "w...what about me? What you gonna do with me?"

The fox was most certainly not let in on this 'plan' of theirs. He looks at them with confusion, a bit a bit hurt that they apparently didn't feel the need to include him in on this 'plan' but the feeling quickly passes. Bandit just out right ignores the rat now that everything useful from him has been said, "Do what you all need to. I'm returning to the guard shack. There is only one place Zurrgg would go with that treaty. I'm going to rally the guards and lock down the gates." He moves for the door and then pauses, "Blisa, Ferd. I...don't know what's going to happen after this. If Zurrgg really does have more guards on my pay roll then they won't be done with the village. Get Blisa away from here. Once it's safe I will tie a purple cloth on the highest building in the village. And if for some reason I don't come back..." The fox adjusts his claymore before walking out the door. "Don't come back for me."

As Hank hurries out with Scioto's body and leaves the building to catch up with the rest of the group, Ferdinand goes to release the rat, then lead him after the Head Guard by ear and fencing-knife-point. "They are already on their way. Hank can ethcape over the wall on the oppothite thide of town. The retht of them thould be out in the depth of Mothflower by now. What do you think we thould do with thith /traitor/?" The ferret goes to shake the poor rat captive as he follows along in the fox's wake. "He'th heard too many of our planth...."

The rat frowns, what's going to happen to him as fear shows in his eyes

FV:Guardhouse:Head Guard Office

Large enough to hold a desk and a wooden cabinet designed to hold scrolls, this office lacks much of the grandeur that accompanies the title.

The desk and padded chair of the head guard is positioned on the left of the office, allowing the occupant to see the rooms only window. Positioned above the wall opposite is a large snarling eel head stuffed and mounted in such a way that it's the first thing anyone sees upon entering the room.

If the head guard is not in he may be buried alive under the mountain of paperwork that engulfs the desk, even spilling onto the floor around it.

Exits: [O]ut

The guard shack is surprisingly empty. The whirlwind of activity is already passed after Bandit blew through the door barking orders like their lives depended on it. The fox is now alone in his office with the door slightly ajar. The contents of his desk have been hurriedly shoved off to make room for a large map of the village. A dagger is used to pin one end to the desk and keep it from rolling up. The fox reaches for a bottle of whisky in the desk drawer, pops the cork and is about to drink when he remembers the fate of Scioto. In anger he throws the bottle against the wall where it shatters into a thousand pieces.

The fox leans over the desk, rubbing his eyes as tears quietly stream down his cheeks.

"Mith Blitha ith thafe, if that'th any contholation." Ferdinand is standing in the doorway, holding a rolled-up scroll. It looks like he....dealt with the rat appropriately. "I would...like to apologize. I thought Thir Thcioto.....had told you what he knew about....hith upcoming death." The ferret quietly pads over to the desk and sits down on its edge, looking at the map without really seeing it. He may or may not have done some crying in solitude earlier.

The fox doesn't ask about the rat. The rat isn't important at the moment. Just one more distraction in securing the town. And a distraction from the conversation at paw.

"What?" Bandit says harshly, looking through his fingers with blood shot eyes.

Ferdinand starts tracing circles with his finger on the map. "Nightbreath had a vithion in which he thaw Thir Thcioto laying dead, murdered by thomebeatht clothe, yet there wath no blood. I heard that it would happen before Thummer wath out. I thought.....I hoped that Thicoto had told you. I am thorry that you had no warning." He looks ashamed, and refuses to meet the Head Guard's gaze.

It's probably for the best. Bandit's gaze could light the ferret on fire. He turns quickly to steady himself, fists shaking at his side. "Kolur. He was murdered by Kolur the pine marten." He spits. "We both know Zurrgg isn't going to just leave us alone now that Scioto is..." The fox catches himself, shaking his head.

"I have the village in lock down. No one in, no one out. I have guards at every possible entrance point but if Zurrgg has his leeches in my ranks then we can't be sure he can't get back in..."

Ferdinand spreads out his scroll. Its another map of the village, with a strange mark on it. Pinning down the top of it, he points at the mark. "Many theathonth back, there were holeth in our wallth that Mith Blitha would ethcape through. We patched up all of them, but I took the precaution of carving a ladder of thortth on the outthide." He points to the mark, which is on the opposite side of the village from the gates. "It'th overgrown with weedth and impothible to find if you don't know what you're looking for." He sits back and sighs. "If thignth go thour, I would thuggetht that you uthe it to get away. Altho, um," He scoots off the desk and cringes. "I caught a guard thleeping; that'th how I got back in here after I left...."

The fox rubs his eyes. It takes him a moment to process this. "Oh course he was." He says flatly. "Thank you for the offer but..." The fox takes a deep breath. "I'm not leaving. I'm here for thick or thin. I would not be able to bring myself to look in a mirror again if I saved myself but let the village perish." The fox leans against the table, claws digging into the wood, "Liam was right, little scamp. I talked to him before he left, he was right. We can't go 3 months with out disaster befalling this town."

He relaxes, "I should send guards to Redwall but I can't trust them not to turn on each other, what with Zurrgg planting his agents in them. I can't trust them not to hand over the keys to the city if...he, IF. No. It's when he returns." Bandit throws his paws into the air, "I don't know what to do Ferdy. I just...I just don't know what to do."

Ferdinand looks at the ceiling and sighs. "I'm not thaying abandon the village to it'th fate. I'm thaying that we /need/ you if we're ever going to take back the city, and if you come to the concluthion that you could help uth better if you were outthide with uth, you can escape that way!" He doesn't even seem to notice that he just said an S without his lisp causing him problems. "And you need to let Marek leave if he trieth; he and Zurrgg have a feud, and it would probably be betht if we had him on the outthide helping uth plan." He leans on the desk and looks the fox dead in the eye. "Our dethtination ith Redwall," he says in a barely-audible whisper. "We have friendth there who I know will fight with uth, not the leatht of which ith DoraRose. They will help uth, and we will take the newth there, if we're able." He didn't notice that S, either.

The fox pats the ferret on the shoulder, "The village isn't lost yet. Scioto may be... may be gone but I can not leave my post. You have your job to do. I have mine." He pauses by the door. "I'll do what I can to keep the village civil. Someone needs to let the villagers know their leader is dead...and if they see all of us gone they will only cause a panic. You take care of Blisa. I'll keep the village in check." The fox gulps, he hesitates as if he is about to say something else but then shakes his head. "Just...take care of Blisa, Ferdy."

"It'th been nice working with you, too, Bandit. Don't worry; Zurrgg ith the one who will have to be on the lookout if he cometh anywhere near Blitha." He goes to shake the fox's paw, then slips away to head back over the wall....making sure to give the sleeping guard a shove on his way out. He has a cat to take care of.
