This starts in the clearing north of the abbey and ends in the Redwall Great Hall
Log
Leon-Master Healer of Redwall
Caleb-Novice and son to Dorarose and Leon
Cynthia-Mousemaid and a dancer/singer
Spoofed:
Drake-A mouse
Cody and Pine-A couple otters
Copper-A squirrel
Caleb was old enough to go out on his own and he only planned on going a short distance when he hear a friend was nearby along the road
The group was staying in a clearing not too far from the abbey. A couple otters and a squirrel, and singing was a mouse maid, none other than Cynthia herself. She had been away for a few weeks traveling with the circus and learning to sing and play music.
Caleb made his way through the trees and to the clearing, he smiled as he seen his friend and watched her sing as he sat on a log nearby
Cynthia finished and then waved to Caleb as she walked over “Hey…sorry didn’t talk at the Winter Feast, Guess I got busy see me and a friend from the traveling circus decided to form our own group and this is it, neat huh…a beast by the name of Drake and the squirrel over there whose name is Copper is in charge and Drake has been teaching me to dance!”
Caleb listens as she talks “I hope you keep singing, so that shrew Oswald is no longer your teacher?”
Cynthia shakes her head “I learned all I could from him, I mean I could learn more but nothing I haven’t already learned and I can practice on my own and adding dance to it is great. This is a small group but that’s fine, small groups can entertain as well.”
Caleb nods as he smiles “I was hoping you would stay a while Cynthia, I have missed you and I am sure your father has missed you as well”
Cynthia nods “I know but I am grown up now…well almost 9 seasons, oh and I have great news” She sounds excited.
Caleb nods again “Well maybe I could stay with you I been meaning to ask you something Cynthia and…well”
Cynthia shakes her head “No you stay with your novice training, it just wasn’t for me is all and congrats on 2nd level I am sure your be a brother in the order soon” She offers a smile “And ask me what? I was getting ready to go with Drake somewhere to get some supplies before the group heads out.” She looks back to the two otters and the squirrel as they look to be packing up to head on down the road to where ever they are plaing to go.
Caleb smiles again, “Well I…ummm” He seems nervous as he gets out a small box and then drops it, he panics and quickly picks it up again and frowns, “Sorry….”
Cynthia blinks at the box, “Caleb..whats that?”
Caleb shows the box, “Its umm…not real..well it is but not like costs a lot and it’s not a ring it’s just a necklace with a simple silver chain and on the end is a heart made of silver, it’s for you..I was gonna..gonna ask it….you would”
Cynthia frowns now, “You’re asking me to marry you?” Ok she is not sure she wants to be right or not as she goes to back up ”I need to really get going, it was nice to see you again Caleb”
Caleb reaches out to take her paw in his, “Cynthia…wait please. I didn’t mean to upset you and yes I would like you to be my mate one day but you can think on it. I love you and can wait for a reply…your be back in the Spring right? Maybe the feast even?”
Cynthia moves her paw out of his, ”I…no I was not planning on returning. I was going to travel with the group to Halyard and live there, maybe travel the seas or the coast lines.” She keeps a frown not wishing to hurt him but he needs to know “I..I am engaged to…to Drake. We are to marry in the Spring”
Caleb now backs away and looks like he has just be told someone died. ”W..What?” He asks softly “But…I…I thought you loved me…..”
Cynthia frowns “I….maybe I did or it was a crush, we thought it was something….I am sorry I fell in love with Drake and he is kind, loving and even knows paw to paw fighting and you should see him with a staff”
Caleb then glares “I don’t care!” He throws the heart necklace at a tree and tears fall down his face. He then turns and rushes from the clearing.
A tall mouse, Drake walks over “Cynthia is everything alright?”
Cynthia reaches out ”Caleb!” She turns to Drake and shakes her head no as she goes to follow Caleb.
Caleb meanwhile is rushing away from the clearing and not paying attention to where he is going, he comes across a small pond, much smaller than the abbey pond and maybe big enough for a single small fishing boat. Its frozen over when he runs across it and slips, spinning in a circle and stops in the middle. He slowly stands and falls onto his bottom and that’s when he hears something that puts fear in him…….cracking ice!
Drake went to follow the mouse maid when she went running off.
Cynthia came to a halt and looked over at Caleb “Caleb?!She gasps when she sees him “Caleb don’t move! Drake!” She calls out when she sees him “Get Copper and get the two otters Cody and Pine…hurry!”
Drake nods and does as he is told, before long he is back with a rope he ties to a tree and hands it to one of the otters who holds on to it and looks to where the mouse is.
Caleb looks at Cynthia and frowns “Why do you care….I can get up myself..I just wanna go home” He knows home is just a little ways east to the market and then along a path and to the road, maybe an hour or so walk, he would make it just fine….if only the ice didn’t break more and he soon learns the small pond is deep….very deep!
Cynthia’s eyes widen and she places a paw on her mouth, she is afraid to go towards the small pond and she can’t swim.
The otter dives into the pond, rope in paw and soon finds the mouse and manages to get a rope around his waist and pulls the rope as he swims up, the other otter gets the mouse to safety of the shoreline
Caleb coughs and gags up water and shivers from the sudden cold and the fact he is soaked in icly water now.
Cynthia walks over quickly to see if he is alright as the squirrel checks him over and mentioned how they should take him to the abbey. The mouse maid nods slowly.
The walk there is slightly slow, one of the otters wrapped the mouse novice in a cloak he had to keep him warm and dry and carried him. The other otter stayed beside them, as well as the squirrel and two mice Cynthia and Drake who watched Cynthia” It’s not your fault, not his either it’s no one’s fault.”
Cynthia frowns “I upset him and he ran off, and how is that not my fault Drake?”
Caleb groans slightly as he drifts in and out of consciousness as they near the abbey gates.
Leon was exiting the gatehouse when a guard motioned him to follow, he follows and then gasps at whom the group of travelers have, he nods to the infirm and has worry on his face, asking what happen as he listens he does what he needs to do to help his son.
Cynthia sits in the Great Hall, the small group has decided to get supplies from the abbey and then head on back north and west towards the coastline. They would stay till the next day and then head off.
Drake looks around “So…you grew up some here?”
Cynthia just sighs but she does nod, she glances at the kitchens but decides to stay where she is.
Leon comes down the steps and stands in front of the two mice “Caleb will live but will have to stay in the infirm for a few days.”
Cynthia nods, “I’m..Sorry, if I had not upset him he would have been able to avoid that fishing pond by the market place….and me and the others with me will leave in the morning”
Drake just stays quiet.
Leon listens “You can stay, no need to leave. Traveling in winter is not always the best thing and Friar Lacota I am sure wants to spend time with his daughter.”
“Trust me, he wouldn’t ….tell him I love and miss him but come sunrise or before me and the ones whom came with me will be heading off, we…we already are a day behind as it is…then again maybe we should leave before dinner”
Drake sighs and goes to see if that’s a good idea, he soon returns “Copper said if we left now we could make it to a good camping spot and maybe get a couple log boats a family of shrews have to get to the western shire faster.”
Leon frowns but nods finally “Alright then…you want me to tell Caleb anything?”
Cynthia nods to Drake and then turns to the Master Healer” No…” She then seems to take it back, “Just let know we got him here and..that then we left”’
Leon nods “As you wish Cynthia.”
The mouse maid nods and heads out with the two otters, Copper the squirrel, and Drake. One last look at the abbey and she walks away, she won’t return again. She will get married to Drake and they will have a son, she will even name her son Caleb after her friend. She also becomes a great singer and dancer know far and wide, and she will always remember Redwall Abbey.
Starts in the entry and then ends in the infirmary. Leon and Takeo find out Zinnia hasn't been feeling all that great since the birth of her twins........
Log:
Leon-Master Healer
Takeo-Badger,healer and mate to Zinnia
Zinnia-Mate to Takeo and Sister in Redwall, back from a long absent
Xander- warrior in taining and zinnia's and Takeo's adopted son
Leon walked into the entry with a yawn, he managed to get some extra sleep, but a nap later may not be too bad an idea as he glances around the entry.
Zinnia is heading to the gates, over her shoulder is a small knapsack, upon seeing Leon she smiles and walks on over to him, ”Hello Brother Leon, you look like you need a nap”
Leon smiles “I am fine, been a fairly good day so far”
Zinnia nods “It’s been a..long day for me. Still getting use to newborns and they are up a lot, there is feeding and changing and a lot of rocking. Northstar sleeps well, but Zork tends to be fussy a lot.”
Leon listens “I could check on him if you would like and you don’t have to be the only one to care for the twins as there is Oz also”
Zinnia smiles a little “Well I am the only one who can feed them…I mean guess other things are fine to be…helped with” She frowns, she hasn’t had much energy sense the twins were born and hasn’t rested as much as she should either for the past couple weeks since. ”I am sure they are both fine, even if born a few weeks early”
Leon frowned as he walks closer “Have you been feeling ok Sister Zinnia? I haven’t had a chance to check on you much as figured Takeo was mainly, as he did tend to you those 2-3 days after the twins were born and you had the fever.”
Zinnia nods “He did, your right and I recovered” Maybe not fully but she has kept that quiet as to not worry any beast.
Leon studies her closely, “I could ask Takeo, you just don’t seem like yourself is all”
Xander walks into the entry and then over to Zinnia and Leon, nodding a hello “Hey” He says softly.
Zinnia sighs “I am fine….hello Xander honey, you feeling ok today?”
Leon frowns “Can I do a quick exam then Zinnia, please just to make sure you are ok. Wouldn’t have to be in the infirm, could be elsewhere”
Xander looks between them “You ok Mom?” He does sound worried.
Zinnia snorts as she goes to walk away “I am…am…” And a wave of dizziness hits her and a headache she has had on and off and some pains, a soft groan and she holds her forehead and falls sideways into the snow unconcious.
“Zinnia!” The Master Healer rushes forwards towards his friend and right away is checking pulse, is she breathing? And seeing if she is fully unconcious or maybe semi-conscious .
Xander’s eyes widen “Mom!!!” He gets a worried look and looks unsure if he should go find someone or what as he fights back panic, it’s not been a very great past few weeks and things had started to clear some and now it threatens to get worse.
Takeo hearing the shouts comes jogging from over by the pond and is at Zinnia’s side in an instant as he exams her and frowns “What happen? Did she fall…faint….just now? How long go?”
Zinnia groans and seems semi-conscious, shivering some as if cold and has a fever again, then again did it ever totally go away. But she shows no signs of illness and it seems to only affect her. Then again she didn’t totally recover from giving birth to twins, nor did pains go away, Her eyes flutter some..”T…Takeo…?”
Leon answers “She sounded tried and had mentioned doing a lot with the twins and how one seemed fussy a lot, I asked if she wanted to have me make sure she was ok seeing as most get an exam after giving birth and she got upset and started to walk away and that’s when she fainted.”
Xander slowly sits down in the snow, too worried to ask anything, too worried to go too close to his mother, he just stays quiet and watches.
Takeo speaks “Zinnia…love? Are you ok? Does anything hurt…please tell me?” He knows she has over done things and has a feeling when told to rest she hasn’t, he glances at Xander briefly “Will you find Oz, tell him he needs to watch the twins for a day or two”
Zinnia frowns”Tired….is all, some soreness in chest and….stomach some, headache and been dizzy off/ on” She answers and then whimpers, she looks at Takeo, she has not been feeling well since the birth of the twins and its clear now, that and over doing caring for them, she hasn’t let any other beast care for the twins, she has been over protective of them and in the process not ate much since the birth either, and what she has ate of course in feeding the twins, drained her energy.
Leon frowns “This isn’t good…has she been ill or anything when she was still with dibbun?”
Xander stands and goes off to find Oz, one more glaze to his mother and then he is off.
Takeo sighs “Sometimes…couple times, breathing was difficult but that has seemed better since the birth, and she did have times where her energy seemed low, but she would say she was ok….probably to not worry me…”He closes his eyes “I should of paid her more attention now..the past couple weeks and not gone off to explore the woods or visit Ferravale, when she went with me to check on the ship I had to help carry her back after half way being getting here”
Leon shakes his head “Don’t blame yourself…now let’s get her inside as its cold out here and she doesn’t need a cold right now.”
Takeo nods and gently picks up Zinnia and carries her to the infirm .
==Time passes==
Xander sat in his room, stareing at the doorway. He ate a little of his dinner which was soup and some rolls, and juice to drink.
Leon knocks and pokes his head into the room “Hey Xander….”
Xander looks up “Mom is ok…right, and please don’t lie”
Takeo comes to the door “She is resting and will be on serious bed rest for a week. The twins are to be watched by Oz and Sister Ginny….course you can help as well if you wish.”He frowns
Leon nods “And Me, Takeo and even Angela will make sure your mother gets well”
Xander frowns”She isn’t going to……”
Takeo goes forwards and goes to hug Xander or least kneel in front of him ”She won’t die..I won’t allow her to. But it’s clear she will never have another dibbun, being with dibbun again could very well kill her….with her breathing issues she has sometimes, being with dibbun was not good for her and twins made it worse, one reason they were born early…I am just glad they seem in good health, small but in good health and growing well. She also was not able to give them much milk, but a special green-sap milk will work just as well, and maybe you could give your little brother or sister a bottle one time.” He smiles and goes back to explaining “And as said, your mother will recover, just the first day or two could be touch and go, but her breathing and pulse rate is better than it was and her fever is not as bad as I thought it was. Plus she is under the best care here”
Leon nods “Yes that is true, she will get better, she just needs a lot of rest”
Xander tenses at the hug and then hugs the other badger tightly, one of the few beasts he can hug tightly and not worry about hurting them.
Takeo rubs his back “Maybe you should get some sleep son, you can visit your mother in the morning”
Leon slips out and goes to spend some time with his family, he is letting Takeo take first shift with watching and being at Zinnia’s side, then he can be there and then Angela.
Xander nods and ends up falling asleep still half hugging the other badger.
Takeo lifts Xander up and places him in bed and then goes to the infirm to be at Zinnia’s side.

Leon walks into the infirm to check on any beast here and makes his way over to where Tanya and Xander is "Hello Xander, feeling ok? Anything hurt?"
Tanya waves "Ello Mr. mouse...I is ok, I is watching Xander sleep..but the babies are lot better at sleepings than him"
Xander blinks and manages a small chuckle, “Well...it’s a baby thing I guess"
Leon nods as he goes to check on Xander's wounds to make sure there is no infection or swelling .
Xander holds still, luckily the wound is healing nicely and no signs of infection, slight slight swelling but could be from movement. He tenses a little when its checked and cleaned and just focuses on something other than dealing with this.
Tanya frowns "He has ouchie doesn't he? Did the bad fox do it?"
Leon nods "Yes but the bad fox was taken care of and is no longer a worry, but Xander is healing nicely and will recover" He then applies needed herbs and rebandages the wound carefully “There, so far so good Xander"
RW Abbey: Infirmary Recovery Xander nods "It’s good to be healing up. right? Am I healed up enough to leave the infirm?"
Leon finishes rebandageing the wounds and answers the badger "You could, but you still need to heal, no lifting or doing anything that would put strain on the collar bone or shoulder blade area, meaning no major training yet"
Xander looks like he is about to complain, take that back he does "What! But...Marek is training me and I have to get back to it, I -CAN'T- just sit around and heal, training can’t be put on hold like that"
Leon says, "And Marek will tell you the same thing, you have to get strength back and flexabity back first in the arm, even if it’s not your main sword arm, he will know what you should and shouldn’t do and when you can or can’t do something, also he has Zaram, and Marek himself knows a good amount on battle wounds."
Xander sighs and pouts, he lets out a small whimper when he moves his left shoulder a little more than he should "But...I want to be a warrior...training is important, not getting out of shape"
Leon sighs "So is proper healing to make sure you can fight well in battle. Maybe speak to Dorarose, she will let you know this also, there is some exercise you can do to help. This injury could of been worse, you’re lucky its healing well...the sword could of gone anywhere else like your throat...fox could of stabbed you in the heart or lung, then you wouldn’t of been here..you would of been dead. Also if Takeo had not been there when he was or if say Thunderwing didn’t get me when he did....you most likely would of died on the road. It took me and Takeo both to get that blade out, over an hour of slow...slow moving of it to avoid further damage, to make sure it didn’t go left or right...that fox barely missed a main artery in fact, you...you were beyond lucky Xander and you were in a faint for almost 3 days"
Xander frowns "I..know. I saw the gates of the dark forest so yeah I know how close I came to dyeing, I don’t even remember getting stabbed just..suddenly I was and then I was in the infirm here to find out its been past a couple days time"
Leon lays a paw on his arm carefully "Sorry if I seemed harsh, I just...I had just made sure Dorarose and the rest of my family were inside, got this dibbun otter inside and then Thunderwing is suddenly grabbing me and flying off..into the freaking sky" He manages to not yell, "And I am just like what the seasons..I am about to slap an eagle...an eagle of all things in the face when I catch sight of you, a blade going into your collarbone and exiting your shoulder in the back, this look of pain on your face and that...look, and I have Zolomon screaming, Takeo was there tending to you, which further helped you not to die trust me"
Xander frowns "Look...what look?"
Leon frowns, "A look most beasts have when they are near death....sort of this faraway look, no focus..it’s usually something well a healer is too late like 90% of the time, as I said had me AND Takeo had not been there BOTH OF US, WHEN WE WERE....nothing would of stopped you from joining your grandfather on the other side of that gate, not even him..I still wasn’t sure you was going to live, but you did and I am glad of it" He smiles "We all are glad of it"
Xander nods"Guess I just wanted to live, didnt want to die...sides Uncle Oz needs me, and so does Mom and Dad and the twins and Tanya"
Leon looks surprised "Dad?" He then smiles "You mean Takeo right?"
Xander nods "Yeah I mean...he married mom so it makes him my dad now"
Leon says, "Well I am glad you are getting along with him"
Xander smiles “Yeah so am I as family is important”
Leon smiles to this “Yes, yes it is.”He then heads out to spend some time with his own family and let Xander get some rest.

Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Leon had heard the badger woke up briefly and came to check on him.
Xander is semi-awake and frowns as he looks around the room.He managed to sip a little coridal and eat some bread, and a little soup.
Leon speaks "You should of stayed in bed not gotten up as you did."
Xander frowns "Was......hungry and smelled food, heard music...."He is still in a lot of pain, but it;s fading some."How get to the abbey?"
Leon answers, "Takeo carried you after he and I tended to your wound, a wound you could of easyly died from, you got lucky, very lucky "
Xander lets the healer tend to his wound before he speaks "I saw....talked to grandpa" He says quietly.
Leon blinks as he listens"You mean Zork?" He gets some vegetable broth and adds a little herbs to it "Here, try and drink this and maybe have some water."
Xander nods as he slowly drinks the herbal broth and sips some water, he coughs and speaks again" But, only....little while..said not my time and to go away"He looks around ajusting to the dark"Then I woke up"
Leon chuckles "Well, sounds like his way of getting you not to go in into the dark forest. Wouldn't wanted to see a funeral"
Xander nods as he drinks a little more water and looks tried "sort of tried...."
Leon nods "Then go to sleep, you still have a good road to recovery yet to deal with Xander" He offers a smile and then heads on out of the room.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leon steps into the infirm, he will least work a little before the feast and he did promise to check on Xander. First he checks the wound on the collarbone and shoulder blade area front and back, then seeing how the cuts on the arm are.
Xander is still in a deep faint, not much change since he was brought in almost 3 days ago. He has a fever and he mutters every so often. His pulse gets dangerous low, as does his breathing sometimes and then gets to better levels again. The only good news is there is no infection and the wounds are slowly healing.
Leon sighs and he gets a cool cloth and places it on Xander's forehead and cleans the wounds best he can and applies needed herbs to prevent infection and swelling before he bandages them again and checks on a mouse in here with some cuts on their wrist.
Zinnia walks into the infirm rather slowly and goes to where Xander is and frowns "Xander..."
Xander doesn't respond or do anything to show he hears her even, his only movement is the rising and falling of his chest to show he still lives but it's clear he is still in bad shape.
Leon looks over after tending to the mouse with cut wrists and walks over "Sister Zinnia...you should be resting in bed. Are you feeling ok?"
Zinnia frowns "Am I feeling ok?..No..my son is in a deep faint and...could die and" She sighs and sits in a chair beside Xander" Other than just slight soreness and being a little tried.....maybe some stress, I am about as well as I can be Brother Leon"
Leon frowns "I have done all I can, so has Angela...and I think even Takeo has come in here."
Zinnia speaks "Can you be honest with me.....will he live or die? Please tell me"
Leon sighs "I..I don't know there hasn’t been a change good or bad yet...wounds are not infected and are slowly healing, that IS a good sign...I asked what happen, a couple beasts...if Zolomon didn’t fire that arrow and hit the fox when he did, well we would be planning a funeral and not a feast right now most likely..Zolomon saved his life or Xander would be dead now" He tries to sound hopeful "We just have to see if he pulls through, it’s all we can do"
Zinnia just nods, tears threaten to fall, "It’s just.....I didn’t get to see how injured he truly was and maybe that’s a good thing at the time. I barely knew my mate was ok when I thought the fox killed him or some marten....the fox shoved me into the ditch with icy water and...I could of easily drowned, me and my cubs, but someone saved me."
Leon nods" I heard...Marek got you out of the ditch, or least prevented you from sinking Takeo pulled you two back up and I know Marek got you to the abbey gates, even made sure Takeo, Xander and a couple others got to the abbey before he went to his tavern. He is supposed to be at the feast, if he comes"
Zinnia says, "I remember the ditch a little...and him getting my paw and being pulled up..then it’s sort of a blur till I woke up in Uncle Oz's room."
Leon says, "Oz and Rayen was there when the twins were born....I was with Takeo tending to Xander and Angela was I believe tending to the freed slaves wounds"
Zinnia manages a small smile "Uncle Oz helped keep an eye on the twins...I named them Zork and Northstar, after papa and Uncle Oz's late mate"
Leon smiles "I like the names"
Zinnia says, "I asked Uncle Oz is it was ok first and he said yes"
Leon asks, "Most likely was a good idea, were you and Takeo going to the feast?"
Zinnia nods "I think so" She looks to the open ground "I want to go to papa's grave, come with me?"
Rw Abbey:Graveyard
----------------------------------------------
This is a small natural clearing in the forest growth. Ancient trees tower over the area, arching over to make an interlaced roof on the clearing, keeping the area dark and shaded through the day and night. The floor is bare except for some small plants and forest mulch. As an entrance to this place, there are two large oaks that have branches that grew together to form a natural arch. At the foot of the largest one, between the roots, a fresh mound has been dug. In the clearing there are small patches of freshly turned earth, and rocks lining a few of them. A burial ground. In the shadows of this place, there is silence for the dead.
----------------------------------------
Leon follows the badger to the graveyard and silently stands off to the side.
Zinnia walks over to Zork’s grave and traces the name on the tombstone “Hey Papa…Sorry been away so long, I heard you got Uncle Zee there now, wish he was buried at the abbey but I understand, tell him I said Hello..” She frowns “Papa…please don’t let Xander cross into the dark forest, not yet and in fact not for a long time”
Leon frowns but stays quiet.
Zinnia closes her eyes and then opens them again. She stands there for a short while looking over the graves. “Did anyone else die..I was told by Xander on….Uncle Zee. I just wish I was here to say goodbye when it happen”
Leon walks over and lays a paw on her arm “I am sure he knows, he died peacefully…I wasn’t there, Oz was but from what understand it was very peaceful, he just sort of fell asleep…got to say his goodbyes and get things sorted he needed sorted…he knew when his time was up.”
Zinnia just nods and sighs. ”Ok let’s go elsewhere but here”
Leon smiles “ Sounds good to me, led the way”
Zinnia manages a small smile and heads back to the main abbey building.
Leon follows after her.

Leon-Master Healer and Brother in Redwall
Benar-Abbot of Redwall
Zolomon-A hare archer
RW Abbey: Cavern Hole
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This room is slightly smaller than Great Hall, but still of a size large enough to accommodate a great number of gathered beasts. A large fireplace is set into one of the walls, and there are a series of small tables and chairs near one end for beasts who are eating late, or simply prefer the smaller tables for their meals. Cushions and blankets have been set in one corner. A short flight of steps leads up to Great Hall, and along the walls of the stairs, going both ways, the word 'Redwall' has been carved into the stone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Leon is relaxing in Cavern Hole, he doesn't get to relax too often or least he doesn't let himself relax too often as he always seems busy with something all the time, and right now he isn't busy with anything for a change.
Benar walks down the stairs from the Great Hall, head in a book as he makes his way downstairs. He lifts his head as he reaches the bottom and looks around to see who is around. Upon seeing Leon he raises a hand in hello
Zolomon steps quickly from the kitchen " But tis a new creation, would be a hit...hot root and beet pie..." Which is yanked from him as he frowns "Hey! Shouldn’t I get to keep it...how rude" The hare pouts and goes to sit down in a chair by the fireplace and waves "Hallo Sir Abbot and Brother L"
Leon waves to Benar and then sighs when he hears the nick name...again and glances over at the hare" Hi,," He answers quietly.
Benar glances at Zolomon and shakes his head, "Have you been in the kitchen again without invitation Zolomon? You really should know better then to go in there whilst they are working." He walks over toward the fire and smiles softly, "And Leon, sitting down, not working, not managing his handful of children... this is a surprise."
Leon chuckles "I don’t usually do much with the dibbuns, that's Oz's job and decided I needed a little time off, I do tend to....well over work myself sometimes"
Zolomon frowns " It was only a small pie and I was bally well helping, maybe an idea for the upcoming feast you know, hares do like feasts after all and there is one soon"
Benar smiles quietly at Leon and mouths, "hares," at him silently and rolls his eyes before turning to face Zolomon, "Helping for the feast is a good thing Zolomon, but I suspect we'd lose half of every dish before it came out of the kitchen with you in there."
Leon holds back a chuckle, and smiles "The feast is in....well week and a half I think, should be nice as feasts usually are. Any interesting plans for this one abbot?"
Zolomon frowns "I wouldn’t eat.....that much of it good sirs, a hare can control one's self."
Benar says, "Zolomon, I've met many hares over the course of my life and not a single one of them can control themselves at a Redwall feast or in the kitchens. You're lucky the Friar doesn't have armed guards standing outside each and every door to drive you away..." He chuckles softly, "But no special surprises for this feast, games, music, warmth, good food and the finest beverages out of the wine cellar"
Leon nods "Music is always nice and being with friends. Maybe a more simple name for this winter seasons feast, though no ideas come to mind, not had a great deal of snow....well yet, some though"
Zolomon grins, he chuckles as he listens "Well ya lucky tis just me around and no other hares the Abbot...you name the seasons? That sounds interesting..maybe the season of the lone hare, then again that would be messed up if another hare would show up...hmmms"
Benar settles down in a chair and slips his bookmark into place and closes his tome, "It is indeed the Abbot's duty to name each season at the feast. it is a tradition that dates back to Loamhedge. Everyone is welcome to make suggestions but I do not think "Lone hare" is quite in keeping."
Leon smiles "I am sure a good name will be picked"
Zolomon nods "Well maybe I can think of one and make a suggestion.....oh! I could let the Mossflower Defenders know about the feast, they could jolly well come right? I mean...I am coming either way"
Benar frowns at the mention of the Defenders, "Marek has an invitation to my Winter feast already. The feast is open to all who are not denied the hospitality of Redwall we have visitors from across the length and breadth of Mossflower attending. So everyone is welcome."
Leon listens, "I heard Marek was invited...wonder if he will come or not, from what I have seen and heard lately he seems to be behaving himself and no trouble from him to report and none heard of"
Zolomon says, "Mr. M is fine, he wouldn’t cause trouble he wants to prevent trouble in Mossflower."
Benar asks, "You’ve not known Marek long have you Zolomon?" The grey squirrel shakes his head, "He appears to have changed, but last time he put on a big appearance of having "changed" betrayed the abbey, killed several very lovely beasts and then tried to set himself up as king. The Abbey nor the community of Mossflower at large has a long memory. Marek may appear changed, he may well be truly reformed but a lot of beasts remember him only as the monster who murdered their loved ones. So Marek has a long way to go before he has the trust of Abbey elders or the people at large. So I am afraid any group he has personally put together is going to carry that stigma." He sighs and leans back in his chair, "It isn't nice and do not approve, the Abbey charter is all about forgiveness and peace hence why I have extended Marek this chance but the common folk aren't as forgiving."
Leon nods "Yeah some may...frown upon him being here, could always have a guard follow him around and I think a couple joined his group to keep an eye on him, it’s not a very large group. I...well guess I have mixed feelings on Marek myself....though he never did harm a healer, that I know of"
Zolomon listens as his ears droop some "he..seems ok to me. He does run the tavern in Ferravale but that shouldn’t be something bad and he did help defend Ferravale once I was told. He is also polite"
Benar says, "He's always been polite Zolomon, and charming, and he seems to be your friend. I can only hope that this time his trust is genuine but it will take a long time before I trust him again. I'm taking a large step forward just letting him into this Abbey again."
Leon nods "Just....as said a guard can help keep an eye on him, he could always be searched twice at the gates and maybe told to stay, and make sure he stays, in a certain area only"
Zolomon nods slowly "I can...keep that in mind, but he...to me...seems a good guy, the one time we helped he injured hare lass, he didn’t help bring her in, he let the guards do that and even asked how she was later when I was at the tavern"
Benar says, "I'm aware of all the good he has done in recent seasons. This is why he has been extended an invitation to the feast. But to do more... I cannot and I fear in some beasts eyes no amount of good will make up for the deaths."
Leon asks, "So if he behaves and can prove changed at the feast, if he comes, are the gates going to be open to him again?"
Zolomon says, "I say every beast deserves a 2nd chance....right?"
Benar says, "He's currently on his 3rd chance Zolomon, he had his 2nd chance. I will make no promises on what a decision may be reached by the council after the feast."
Leon says, "A meeting and discussion about it would be good after the feast, the next day sometime but the abbot is right not all the elders.....trust Marek, some may forgive him, but not sure on all of them"
Zolomon nods "Understood and...seems fair, he is a stoat after all. Maybe I should read up on him as guessing there is some things about him in the abbey recorder logs?"
Benar says, "Yes, our recorder logs contain a lot of information on him. But do not judge only on the past. One has to take account of actions today and well give a measure of.. belief."
Leon says, "We see how well he behaves at the feast, even talk to him. As for Defenders...I know they are a good group...maybe a better leader is needed but that decision is not up to anyone really but them"
Zolomon just listens "I..am in the defenders...so is one of me best friends" He frowns "Who I hope is back from his trip soon cause I miss him"
Benar says, "I am sure they will be back in time for the feast Zolomon, it is a rare event to have someone miss a feast." He then looks at Leon then over at the hare again, "If you are part of the defenders be sure to question any orders that you find objectionable"
Leon smiles "Yeah most try not to miss a feast, unless they have to"
Zolomon just nods "Alright sir its good advice and I surely wouldn’t do anything I felt was wrong. Though can't bally well say I am a good archer teacher....good archer yes but teacher...not so much, or maybe me friend was just too eager to learn...hee,hee...even gramps said no to me giving archer lessons to anyone"
Leon nods, he remembers the archery thing, he had to patch up a couple beasts "Yeah...."
Benar laughs, "Yes I heard about the archery, it is ok, happens to us all at the best of times."
Zolomon smiles and then thinks on something "Also if ya would like me to help with any guard duties during the feast, I would be glad to help and promise not to be a guard near the kitchens"
Benar says, "Well ,maybe I can help you with the archery in return for you giving us a hand with keeping an eye on things at the feast."
Leon leans back in his chair and chuckles "Yeah no guarding the kitchen Zolomon, another beast can do that....that’s not a hare"
Zolomon smiles as he stands and bows to them "I shall do my best to guard that day then and not ta worry it won’t be the kitchens"
Benar smiles and stands up, "Thank you Zolomon, that would be very nice of you. But if you will excuse me I am going to go for a walk in the snow
Leon waves" Be careful in the snow Benar"
Zolomon nods "Have a good day sir abbot"
Benar nods and heads on outside for his walk.
Leon yawns “I may take a nap before dinner, then after dinner get in some family time.”
Zolomon grins “A jolly good pastime in winter to nap, then again it leaves less time for fun in the snow….see ya later Brother L….the snow calls to me” He heads out to the entry for some fun in the snow
Leon chuckles and then gets his nap in while he can, he will get lucky, and as planned have dinner and then family time before going back to normal working the next day, well least he had one day off.
==Flint finds out whats in the chest Zee gave him and tries to figure out what is up with Xander and how to help Zinnia feel better==
Halyard Tavern: Main Room
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Halyard Tavern ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Warmly lit by torches along the walls and lanterns set upon the many tables
scattered around the room, the main room of the Halyard Tavern is an often-
populated area. One corner of the tavern is taken up by a stage, about a
foot or two higher than the rest of the floor, where live entertainment
performs, while circular tables, both large and small, are set up in front
of the stage, spreading out into the center of the room. Meanwhile, around
the perimeter of the tavern, booths are set, and, of course, the obligatory
bar rests against the far wall, a bartender or barmaid always on duty.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Flint sat at a booth in the tavern, a small chest beside him as he has some ale, he did get the day off after all so he can drink if he wants to. He sips it as he waits for someone he is to meet up with this morning.
Xander makes his way into the tavern and goes to sit on the other side of the booth “Hello Corporal Flint, thank you for meeting with me" He looks to the small chest and sighs, of course it's not the blade but he stays calm about it.
Zinnia is here as well, but at a table close by and for now watches the two from where she sits, she is alone as her mate and the sea gull is not with her.
Flint nods and sits the chest down" I kept it safe on a shelf in me room, and as I were told 'ere it is for you, I expect you have the key?"
Xander answers “Course I do" He pulls out the key and takes a deep breath to unlock the chest and opens it slowly to peer inside. He takes out the note, key and..."The swords pommel jewel..."
Zinnia coughs on her tea, only seeing some but enough to know what it is from where she sits but she stops herself from yelling out anything, she also stays seated, for now.
Flint tilts his head as he looks at it "Well....it’s part of the blade right?" He chuckles a little and then stops, unsure of a reaction. He then looks over the badger's shoulder and motions someone over towards them.
Xander frowns, he reads the note "For ya effort and troubles, you got this far congrats Xander..kept de pommel jewel safe as when ya find de blade your be able to re attach de pommel jewel , tis not hard as someone will be able to tell you then....oh I forgot seek Zolomon for ya next clue, Uncle Zee" He sighs as he lowers the note and arches an eyebrow at the hare "What are ya doing...who is here?" He puts the note, pommel jewel and key from the chest in a vest pocket and starts to leave.
Zinnia stands and makes her way over "Please Xander, don't go yet. I want to talk to you please...we can head back to Redwall together, or where ever you are going next." She says quietly, "I...have missed you, and Uncle Oz and Uncle Zee so much" She goes to hug him, if he allows.
Xander turns and slaps away any paws "Back off...I don’t want to talk to you and I don’t care if you’re going to the abbey." He shakes his head as tears form "Uncle Zee died..he’s DEAD! And you were not there, you were not there cause you up and left and told no one, oh just a note and you know who was there with him when he died..Uncle Oz, Uncle was there and I found out a half hour later and....and it was so..SO upseting....just...just go away!!!:"
Flint frowns and then crossed his arms over his chest "Now, that tis no way to talk to your mother, no way at all"
Xander shakes his head "Well I am not sure if she is my mother still or not, why didn’t she return to Redwall sooner? Why did she go fin and start another family I mean she is married, she is going to have a dibbun...she lives somewhere over the seas and lives in another land for crying out loud, has other friends"
Zinnia frowns as a tear goes down her face "Xander..I love you. I looked for you, all over till I was lost myself, I almost died and would of if it wasn’t for Takeo and Aira finding me and helping me recover and be well again, me and Takeo....we fell in love and yes we married and yes I am to have a dibbun but I am not replacing family, I never would...your still my son and" She sniffed and wiped away tears "Uncle Oz is still family also by the way, and I am so...so sorry I wasn’t there when Uncle Zee died, please we can even visit his grave together at the abbey, please Xander"
Xander backed away "Uncle Zee is buried in Send by now, its where he wanted to be...you know with FAMILY....with ANCESORS..cause to him family is IMPORTANT!" Tears go down his face, he is upset his Uncle is buried so far away but he respects the decision as he looks at Flint "I have to go home now...goodbye" He walks around Zinnia and heads out the door.
Flint blinks "Now...Xander....hey ya bally well wait!"
Zinnia closes her eyes as tears stream freely down her cheeks now, "No..L..Let him go..I..its ok." She goes to sit down and coughs a little, trying to not be too upset but it fails as she gets out a small vial of something and shivers, almost dropping it..stupid asthma shows up now as he looks at Flint with a look of help in her eyes.
Xander is already outside looking for Patch, he missed Zinnia's bit of trouble breathing and being upset, he glances around outside and sighs as he heads towards where he hopes the rat is or least where he better be
Flint frowns "I say he...Zinnia?" He quickly gets the vial and at first seems unsure what to do and then remembering a talk, she once had a bad breathing spell, she opens the vial and goes to help her take a sip or two of it and offers some water to drink as well. He knows some basic healing, but that’s it so if this gets any worse his day is probably going to be a bad day.
Zinnia shivers and takes a sip or two and coughs, the water is sipped a little as well. About this time Takeo enters and upon seeing Zinnia in destress he rushes over and nods as he takes over, going to calm her and he say mouths a quick -than you- to the hare and speaks to Zinnia “Calm...breaths my love...that’s it..relax, let the herbs take effect" He rubs her back and holds her in his arms and all his attention is focused on her for the next few moments till she is breathing better and hugs him.."Takeo.." He smiles "Its ok now dear, I am here please relax, think of the baby dear" The female badger relaxes as she leans against her mate, she is fine now it seems but clearly still sad.
Flint asks, "Is she ok sir?"
Takeo nods "She will be, thank you for helping her, I do not think it would of been good had you not acted when you did. What happen?"
Zinnia frowns but stays quiet, she would most likely get too upset again if she spoke.
Flint nods "You are welcome sir, well Xander was here and...seems upset over some issues...guessing from yesterday. He also told her Uncle Zee was....dead and I am sorry to hear that, he was a good beast and will be missed, I seen him as a jolly good friend, even if I only talked to the chap a couple times. He was a very wise old badger "
Takeo sighs and nods "Well...Xander has been though a lot himself it seems, where is the lad?" Zinnia speaks "He...he went home, think he hates me"..She is hugged "He does not love, anything said I am sure, deep down he didn’t mean it..."
Zinnia frowns "Uncle Zee is buried in the northlands...but I still want to visit Redwall.." Her mate nods "Course dear"
Flint says, "I cannot go with you sadly and wish you a safe journey and hope you can speak ta Xander, he most likely is just going through a lot as was said and most likely he needs ya, even if he doesn’t know that himself....you need each other at times like this." He goes to offer a hug to Zinnia and a smile "I wish you luck on where ever travel and life takes you"
Zinnia accepts the hug with one of her own "Thanks Flint....think we will stay one more day and then....well head off." She only hopes her and Xander are still a family
Flint nods as he stands after the hug "Then good luck and stop by on ya way back through this way....ok?" He then heads back to the mountain, he needs a serious nap and maybe he will just nap the rest of the day and truly enjoy a well-earned day off.
Short Redwall Log: Role Play in the Cavern Hole Of Redwall
In log:
Leon-Master Healer and Brother at Redwall
Zolomon-Archer in Mossflower Defenders
Leon was eating a late lunch, having been busy today with a few things, lost track of time and got reminded to eat lunch. He was finishing some soup and sipping a little cordial as he looked over some notes he made, and then folded them and put them away.
Zolomon walked in and waves "Brother L how are you this fine day wot?" He sits down in a chair across from the mouse and goes to put his foot paws on the table.
Leon looks over at the hare and frowned "I would be much better if you would not put your foot paws on the table Zolomon, otherwise I am doing well"
Zolomon sighs but does as he is asked and the foot paws stay on the floor, "Anyways....I been a bit bored and still miss gramps." He looks around before asking "So...any idea when Xandy is back?"
Leon listens to the hare before answering "I do not know, it’s a 2 week trip and 2 weeks back...so could be a while and he didn’t mention how long he would stay in the area. He has that Patch with him."
Zolomon nods, but frowns " Hope he is alright, plus he is gonna miss the winter feast if he isn’t back in time"
Leon says, "Well, if he isn’t back in time he isn’t. You could always tell him all about it"
Zolomon nods "Yeah..suppose but it’s not the same. I should of tagged along as well but the Defenders needed me so I stayed"
Leon says, "Still have other friends here and I am sure he will get back safely."
Zolomon smiles "Yean I am sure Xandy will be fine, he can....well sort of fight well and he most likely will avoid trouble"
Leon says, "Yeah let’s hope so anyways. I do not want to lose any other friends"
Zolomon frowns as he nods "Yeah. me neither...I mean a friend on a trip is ok they will be back, but not from the dark forest...no one is back from there "
Leon shakes his head "I..know a couple who were at the gates, but they didn’t go any further....but it’s not easy to always save someone from....well going on into the gates, you can just hope they decide to stay alive even if it’s a long recovery time till they are well again. I mean Martin the warrior was at the gates of the dark forest...I believe twice and he was able to slowly recover and stay alive. I am unsure how long he was alive, I just know one day he put up his sword and became a brother in the order, and his spirit helps guild the champion and others when there is need. His sprite also helps protect the abbey"
Zolomon grins "I read a book on Martin the warrior. Interesting chap and me grandfather told of him a lot."
Leon asks, "Guessing your grandfather spent some time in Mossflower and maybe stayed at the abbey once?"
Zolomon nods "A bit of time in Mossflower and in the jolly abbey as well. He even went to the great badger MT. once and was in the Patrol, but didn’t stay....long story why"
Leon says, "I was there on a trip once with my wife, our recorder Sister Zinnia...she has since moved elsewhere and even has a mate now. Interesting trip and the Mt. is nice, their Badger Lord is called Lord Ciocan and he is almost 9 foot tall....so yeah, and the Badger Lord is the leader has all the Long Patrol hares under his command and they guard the western shore from dangers"
Zolomon eyes widen "Wow...be an interesting fellow to meet one day, If I ever go to the western shore that is."
Leon chuckles as he stands "Well I need to check on some beasts, talk later" And he heads off

Rw: Infirmary
----------------------------------------------------------------
Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Xander walked into the infirm quietly and looked around before sitting on one of the cots and waiting, he shakes his head when one of the healers on duty came "I just need to speak to Brother Leon please, that’s all" The healer novice nodded and went to go find the Master Healer while the badger waited.
Leon soon came into the room "Is something the matter Xander? what did you need?" He has some concern in his voice.
Xander opens up a paper and takes a key from his pocket, gee how many times has he showed a key to someone the last couple days, "This, from Uncle Zee" His voice is quiet as he speaks.
Leon looks at the key" Ah yeah that" He nods and walks over to a cabinet, he has his own key for this as he pulls it out and unlocks the cabinet, moves a couple jars and finds a small chest, big enough for maybe a letter or two, its small for a chest but it’s a chest and he walks over to hand it to Xander "Probably not what your expecting but here it is, it’s your job to open it, not me" He goes over to relock the cabinet though and puts the key away as he walks back over to Xander.
Xander frowns as this is clearly not the Blade of The Northwind Storms, he nods and unlocks the chest and yep there is a key, and a short letter as he reads it he frowns.
Leon peers over his shoulder "Whats the matter? Hard clue or whatever and I would help but Zee said no helping, sorry. It was something ya had to do on your own"
Xander frowns and reads "You’re doing great so far boy, now comes finding a rat named Patch, sorry I have no clue where de lad might be, ya can try Ferravale or maybe if he hears ya looking for him he will find you, oh and make sure ya have a small bag of candy chestnuts and the couple gold coins I left oh and the key ta open the chest he has, he he....signed Uncle Zee" He pockets the key and the two coins and sighs.
Leon hmmms and shrugs "Yeah Patch....interesting beast he could be anywhere. Though I did see him briefly at Zee's funeral and he surprisely behaved himself and nothing is missing from the abbey but I serious do not think he is still in the abbey. He most likely left to where ever he goes"
Xander sighs, "But I don't know where to even start looking" He frowns and then seems to remember "Wait I..I may have an idea, he helped me once right before Uncle Zee died. I was lost in the woods and he found me and let me spend the night at his camp and then got me back to Uncle Zee" He smiles a little "I sort of remember the area he was in or least...an idea"
Leon smiles "Well that’s a start, right? Maybe look there then just be careful of ice and snow and make sure to wear a warm cloak as I don’t want to see you in my infirm due to weather related illness or injury"
Xander nods "I promise Brother Leon, I will be careful “
Leon says, "Good now let’s go get the bad of candy chestnuts and I am sure there is a reason for them"
Xander nods "I believe Patch likes them, he had some at his camp he was eating."
Leon shrugs “Who knows, just be careful. Patch has to have some good in him or Zee wouldn’t trust him with a chest, but that doesn’t mean much. Zee had some...questionable friends in Ferravale , he always tried to find the good in beasts and a lot of beast there respected him, doesn’t mean they will respect just anyone"
Xander says, "Good advice I will keep it in mind, don't worry Brother Leon and I won't be gone too long, if I am they can have some beasts come look for me...sound good?"
Leon nods "Yeah and I say if I don’t see you at least by mid-morning tomorrow I will start to worry"
Xander says, "Fair enough and I do have a blade, even if it’s just temporary till I get The Blade of The Northwind Storms...it will protect me if needed, not that I will look for trouble, I wouldn’t do that I rather avoid trouble if I can""
Leon says, "Good please avoid trouble, I rather not tend to an injured badger anytime soon"
Xander nods and heads out the door
Leon watches him leave and sighs, he then gets back to infirm duties, hoping he doesn’t see the young badger come back with an injury.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The infirm was not too busy this winter season. Most of the patients that cycled through here suffered from small injuries such as slipping on the ice, cutting themselves with an ax while chopping wood, and the occasional cough from the cold weather. All dramatic to be sure but nothing that would keep most beasts here overnight.
And then there is Brookshire. Apparently not having learned her lesson from the first time the ferret is dragged in once again, belly swollen and taut from excessive eating. Her mood is a little tipsy from all the wine she used to wash down her meal. The otters carrying the stretcher just tilt it over one of the beds and Brook just sort of oozes out of it, rolling onto the soft sheets with a small laugh. "What...no d-" She cringes, curling up into a ball and clutching her stomach, "Nope, not going to even bother making jokes this time..."
Leon frowns as he walks over “So what is it this time? I think I heard of you being in here before." He does check for injuries still and sighs.
The only wound the ferret has is the one to her diet. And possibly liver. She lays on her back and slowly props herself up on her elbows, "You have? Ha! I'm getting a repute-a-a-a-tion. HA ha ugh..." She cringes, falling back onto the bed. "S-showed them hares who could...e-eat the most...didn't I?" She takes a moment to relax. "So what's the reward for out eating a hare around these parts?"
Leon frowns "Friar Lacota would not like this at all and one should not eat too much, it’s not healthy and only causes stomach problems. Yes the abbey has a good deal of food but it doesn’t mean one should eat till....well they are so full of food it endangers their own life as you seem to have and not many hares come around here so hopefully the couple hares earlier left"
"You bet yer furless tail they left!" The ferret leans up, throwing a paw into the air, "Left in shame from being beaten by a ferret." The glutton rolls onto her side, back to Leon, "Ugh, tell it to me strait doc, am...am I going to die? Cause it feels like I'm going to die..."
Leon shakes his head "No, but your need to stay in the infirm a couple days and may be best to go on a tight diet, one with a lot less food. Maybe eat veggies and fruits in controlled amounts...like small amounts in fact"
(A look of horror crosses the beasts face, "Di-iet?" She gulps. You can't spell diet without the word DIE in it. Proven fact that is. Unable to stand up she tries to make her daring escape by crawling over the end of the bed, like a slow moving furry slug that begins to just ooze off the end of the bed and onto the floor.)
Leon just shakes his head "You know if some beast was after you , you wouldn’t stand a chance like this. A diet is helpful, not a bad thing and it would help you to be a better beast. It would also help you not be in my infirm so much for over eating"
The ferret doesn't seem to agree, not by the way she is trying to flee the infirm. Brook doesn't get very far, once her stomach hits the floor with a loud plop she just sort of stays there, head and chest on the floor, hips and feet hanging over the bed. The ferret lets out a small whine. "Ah man...can't...can't you just give me something for the p-pain? You're a healer, right? Don't you have some fancy potion or herb to help me with my problem? Or something to put me out of my misery? N-no need to do anything as drastic as a DIET...r-right?"
Leon frowns "Why does everyone think I have some sort of make it all better potion, I don't." He gets more serious "Look, I rather not deal with another beast that’s dead right now so you’re going on a diet whether you like it or not"
The ferret begins to whine, "But I don't wanna!" She wails like a dibbun, "It's not my fault I have an appetite. I'm a scavenger at heart and I've lived in the woods most of me life and and..." Miss Shire cringes again. She lays there, panting for breath. "Ok...you win this round doc. I'll...try to keep my carnivorous cravings to a m-more manageable-" She holds a paw to her stomach, getting ready to upchuck her meal but manages to keep it down. "J-just help me back to bed..."
Leon just shakes his head, luckily a couple strong otters are in the hall and Leon gets them to help get the ferret onto the bed" Now...first you rest a couple days, maybe not eat for like a day to ease your stomach problems. If you eat well and stay a good weight, your live many seasons like a friend of mine did, he was...well serval seasons when he died and he didn’t die of overweight problems, he died of old age. Though I am surprised how well he was able to drink ale and not get ill"
The ferret snorts, "Where's the fun in dying of old age." Brookshire rolls onto her side, "I want to leave a fat, pickled corpse when I go. Means I died successful wot?" She chuckles. Grabbing the pillow she snuggles it close before curling into a ball and falling fast asleep. She snores terribly.
Leon glares but decides to not grumble and even if he wanted to the ferret has fallen asleep. He closes his eyes and reopens them “Make sure the ferret does leave the infirm" The two otters nod "Even if you have to tie her down to the cot" The otters nod again as Leon leaves the infirm, he needs a break from healer duties for an hour or two.
Couple Hours Later
Xander walks slowly into the infirm, he was holding his head like he had a headache and groaned, he then also stepped back out to the open ground to vomit, for like the 2nd time this morning and sits on the infirm steps.
Leon had just walked in and frowns, great...well there goes any other free time as he walks over to the badger "Xander...you ok, what happen?"
Xander looks at the mouse "I tried something called...mead...the ferret said I should drink it and it was sort of good...then made me feel all like...was gonna float away or something and thought sleep is good but woke with a bad headache and...feel sick....and " He just frowns.
Leon frowns as he goes over to a shelf and mixes a couple herbs into a cup with warmed water from a tea kettle and brings it over to the badger" Your too young to start drinking something like that, even if it’s a mild form of alcohol, you have whats called a hangover and rest is usually good, either in here or maybe elsewhere"
Xander drinks the tea and decides to lay down on the first cot he sees. He frowns as he sits the mug down and stares at the wall quietly.
Leon puts the cup away "You...need anything Xander?"
Xander turns to the order brother "Can you bring Uncle Zee back, can you? May..maybe Uncle Oz was wrong and Uncle Zee was just sleeping like..real real deeply or he was just passed out from...from something. Cause he..he can't be...he isn’t dead, he didn’t die!"
Leon frowns, "I am sorry Xander...Zee is...he's gone and no one comes back from the dark forest no matter how badly one may want them to. Sometimes one can be just at the gates and be saved, but even that is rare and most of the time a task not able to be done. Even if I got there sooner I don’t think I could have prevented it from happening."
Xander felt the tears flow "B..But you’re a healer....healers save beasts!"
Leon could only frown, a few tears going down his own face "Healers....cannot save everyone. I am sorry." He goes to lay a paw on his shoulder.
Xander shrugged the paw away “Go away!!" He then started sobbing into the pillow and coughed as he was still a bit ill from the mead earlier and whimpered a little. A hang over and depression for sure doesn't mix well.
Leon frowns and got some willow bark, and a little something to help the badger sleep "Here..drink this, it will dull the headache and help you have a dreamless sleep....it could be helpful, please. I know this is hard for you but your recover and things won’t stay feeling like no one cares, it won’t stay feeling hopeless trust me...please"
Xander looked up finally after what seemed like forever, he takes and drinks the offered cup of tea and coughed, he soon let sleep overtake him, sleep was welcome after all that’s happen in the past couple days. A dreamless sleep is even more welcome.
Leon watched Xander and then got a blanket to make sure he was warm and comfortable before turning to head out of the infirm.
Benar peeked inside “Is all ok in here Brother Leon?”
Leon nods “Yeah….just a rough day is all. A ferret who has ate too much…2nd time in 3 days and Xander, Xander is taking Zee’s death fairly hard.”
Benar nods sadly “Yes he will need all the help he can get and friends, as well as family by his side.”
Leon nods “Yeah….I for one will do my best to help him as well.”

Leon has taken some time away from the infirm, to look over supply lists and write down some things he sees as important to know or do in the coming weeks. The cold weather is increasing slowly as winter gets nearer and nearer so there is a fire in the fireplace today.
Benar is sat in his chair by the fire, his feet up on a pouffe and pointed toward the fire. He has a large book in his lap and seems quite happily settled in to read for the afternoon.
Leon sighs a little as he jolts something down muttering a little "Guess going to need to get more of that...."He rolls up the scroll he has.
Benar glances up as he turns a page and smiles at the chief healer, "What are we missing Leon? Anything I can help you procure?"
Leon answers, "I try to keep mint leaves around, it helps to flavor some of the mixtures I might need to give someone for say a cough, or cold....or if someone needs something for pain and we are a little low right now."
Benar asks, "Ah, did our mint crop not give us enough to last the winter? We usually have loads of the stuff out in the herb garden. We could perhaps trade for some more at Ferravale?"
Leon listens "I know some is used in teas to drink and that supply is in the kitchens, not sure what else it’s used for, I have in the infirm enough to last...." He looks over his notes " Well most of winter anyways, wouldn't need too much more as not much is used."
Benar nods his head and looks back at his book, "Well perhaps we can ask Lacota to release some more of the supplies to the infirmary and avoid having to buy any."
It's cold outside, snow and ice have settled in. Volos does not seem best pleased as a result as he slowly shuffles in the door from the entry, shutting out the cold behind him. He immediately heads for the fire, ears twitching to the voices.
Leon nods, " I could ask Lacota in the next day or two, no rush to as I know he is busy with Winter feast plans and I heard he had some trouble with some hare recently also."
Benar says, "Yes, I never did get to the bottom of that trouble but I didn't want to pry." He shakes his head and smiles, "As long as it is not affecting his duties as Friar it is no business of mine to go prying,." He glances up as the door opens and raises a paw to the mouse, "Ah good day, welcome in from the cold, join us the fire is very good today."
"A hare and a gluttonous ferret at last I heard" Volos replies, picking up the conversation quickly. He nods his head to the pair "A fire is welcome any day of winter. I was unaware this land would be so cold"
Oz enters from the stairs, seemly having a little trouble as he over hears some talking "Then you surely would dislike the Northlands.....then I am starting to dislike winter anywhere, the cold always makes my knee hurt and slipping earlier and bumping into something didn’t help much either"
Leon nods "It is colder other places, I am guessing you’re from the south?" He asks Volos.
Benar smiles, "I grew up in the Northlands, trust me as Oz says if you find Redwall too cold you'd dislike them..." He smiles fondly, "Though I lived in Southward for several seasons too when I was a youngster, it took me a few seasons to adjust back to Redwall's climate."
Volos makes a noise of agreement to Oz's talk of his knee, the cold wasn't helping Volos' leg much. He moves in close to the fire to properly warm up "Across the sea but I believe it to be further south than this"
Oz sits down in the chair he usually sits in" I am guessing all is having a good day?"
Leon nods "A fairly good day so far. No beasts in the infirm but one and they are recovering good, just need him to stay off the footpaw a couple more days"
Benar looks into the flames for a long moment then reaches out to pick up the tongs and lifts on a new log, settling it gently into place, "That must have been a long journey, I have only been to sea once and I hated it."
"My cart will not move through the snow, your winter appears intent to entrap me" Volos replies dryly to Oz but doesn't seem more than a little irritated by it and nods to the Abbot "Very long, it was unpleasant in its tediousness but I have known worse times"
Oz listens "Seems snow is a little early this year, usually waits a couple more weeks. Least its only 3-4 inches."
Leon says, "Winter isn’t always bad, well it does have its moments but the abbey is very very well supplied, we have a lot of logs for fire place and I think someone is even making some new blankets for winter"
Benar asks, "Well Volos I am sure we could park your cart someplace sheltered if that would help set your mind at ease? There are several places in and around the abbey that should be large enough for it to fit safely and keep it out of the snow for now."
Xander footpaw is still bandaged as he makes his way down the stairs. He has been stuck in the infirm for the past 3-4 days and now has decided to leave, besides not many go to the infirm to even say hi and he isn’t use to just staying in one place too long.
"The problem is not in parking the cart, simply in getting it moving once more. If I wish to leave I must do so on foot, which is not desirable" Volos sighs slightly in irritation before eyeing the new arrival and with a small frown he finally retreats back from the fire to take a seat.
Benar smiles at Volos and inclines his head, "Well you are welcome to stay here at the abbey with us for the winter Volos, everyone is welcome here in our halls."
Oz nods, he then tilts his head as he hears Xander "Greetings Xander, decided to join us today?"
Leon glances at the younger badger" How is the footpaw? You are being careful with it correct? You shouldn’t do too much walking just yet."
Xander frowns at the questions before speaking "It’s.....fine. Just hurts a little but not as much as before." He finds a chair that’s still close to the fireplace but not too close to the others
Benar asks, "Well put your feet up and stay off it Xander please," He frowns, "I never did get the story straight just what did you do to your foot anyway?" He picks up the poker and stirs the fire, sending sparks up into the air brightly."
Volos doesn't smile back, his response to the abbot is dry again "A sentiment that I have heard repeated many times" he eyes the badgers a little but seems content to sit and listen.
Leon already knows, but he will listen still as he tries to relax in his chair.
Xander frowns "I...ummm...wanted to learn to use the short bow and I...well shot my footpaw, and then someone yanked the bow from me and said it be best I learned something else, we were in the clearing....I also sort of...almost hit someone in the eye, it missed though and just got their cheek, and someone's...ear" He frowns, yep keep bows far FAR from this beast.
Oz frowns as he listens to the story, but as he is about to ask more an order Sister whispers to him and he knows as he heads on upstairs to tend to the dibbuns as supposedly they are trying to make an indoor snow beast
Benar drums his fingers on the arm of his chair and gives Xander a very long look, "I cannot say I approve of you learning weapons Xander but if that is what you wish do then so be it. May I ask who is teaching you? The champion? Zee?"
Volos' eyebrow slowly raises at Xander's description of his accident. He snorts, almost sounding amused "The only beast more dangerous with a bow is perhaps your teacher, I do hope your champion would know to direct your practice to an empty area and away from ones feet"
Xander frowns "It was this hare named Zolomon who...showed me the short bow. But it was like a short lesson and Uncle Zee is showing me how to use a sword...well somewhat, but he had someone helping me to learn TO like to use a blade, and how to be quicker and ..stuff.......but I am not going near a bow again, but do still want to learn to use a blade and maybe one day wield grandfather's sword.
Leon speaks "No one else got seriously hurt...I tended to them by the gatehouse a brief few moments and they went back home."
Benar says, "I see, I think it would be wise to not accept lessons off that hare in future Xander, from what I have been told he is somewhat of a bad character. The Friar is in a right state about their conduct and behavior not that anyone will talk to me about it properly." He then looks at Leon and Volos and sighs, "Why does every beast want to run off and learn weapons."
Xander says, "Learning to use a weapon can be useful, and important. One could learn to protect another, but other skills are good to learn to , like how to heal or maybe use a camp fire. Like my Uncle...both of them, know how to make teas"
Volos shakes his head "I should like warning when you decide to train with the sword so that I may be elsewhere, just in case" There's another eyebrow raise for Benar "I am certain you must know the answer to that question. You live in peace, behind your walls and guards. The world is full of tales of heroes, none of them earned their name making dinners. Empires are built on wars and it is easier to fight for peace than live in it"
Benar shakes his head and sighs as he turns to Volos, "I live in peace here now, I was young once and did the same as Xander, I ran away to the army in Southward of all places and only found peace and tranquility much later on in my life... sadly I can only dream of a world were fighting does not come naturally."
Leon frowns, "Well least they train in the woods, so that’s good and healing is very useful to know indeed."
Xander frowns as he listens “I don’t plan to run away nowhere...just goanna learn to use a blade. Uncle Zee is a warrior and my Grandfather was and neither one of them was ever still not peaceful too"
Leon says, "Yes they were.....peaceful, in fact your Grandfather become a Brother in the order before he died and....I know your Uncle Zee retired, I guess he is still training you for now?"
Benar says, "Well if you intend to train Xander, no need to sneak off into the woods like a naughty child. There is a training area behind the champion's cottage. Ask Zee to train you there, it would involve less arduous journeys."
Volos watches Benar for a moment before he responds "I tried peace once but merely found that authority had no place for those who disagree with its plans" he looks back to the other pair, thoughtful again "There is honor in following the history of one’s family"
Xander frowns "Wot do you mean for now? He wouldn’t just stop....." He looks to Benar "I think you need the champions permission to go there "
Benar shakes his head, "I am sure Magramba will not mind Xander, ask him next time you see him. I'd rather you were training there safely inside the walls especially in winter. It would be less far for Zee to have to walk."
Leon speaks "Because...."He stops there as he seems to remember something, a promise in fact and then is quiet before speaking again "Well.....he is fairly old and....and...." He decides to shut up, he is not good at this and he best just let others talk.
Xander nods, he frowns at Leon but decides to not push it as he nods to Benar "I can do that and Uncle Zee is a great teacher. He once said the more seasons you are the wiser you are and he knows like a lot of things and seen a lot of things too" He smiles "He also tells the best stories sometimes”
Benar chuckles softly and smiles and stands up slowly, "Well I am glad that is sorted out, now then I should get going I need to meet Sister Laura about some paperwork."
Leon watches Xander head off and sighs, he then clears his throat " Whats your advice Benar on...keeping quiet on some issues? Or if your busy we can talk at a later time."
Benar looks at Leon, "if it is business between yourself and a patient Leon... then no one has any right to know except with your patient’s permission."
Leon nods, "True...thanks Benar as I do think I should have a chat with someone soon." He stands " I will see you at dinner then Abbot Benar"
Volos can read between the lines with the way Leon talks but he doesn't offer much help with the situation, merely nodding to the healer as he moves to leave.
Leon meanwhile heads to check on the infirm, and then to do whatever else he planned to do before dinner.

RW Abbey: Breezeway
------------------------------------------------------------------
A covered, narrow walkway connecting both the smaller building of the kitchens and the large, dwarfing building of the Great Hall. It is a walkway for the kitchen's servers for easy access to the Hall during mealtimes and Feasts. Because it is covered, it is mostly protected from the weather but outside so that more easy access to it is afforded. At almost all times, beasts can be seen scurrying across its surface -- despite their destination and the weather going on around them. Life must go on!
New growth sprouts up around the edges of the walkway but anything that managed to take root in the walkway and breezeway itself finds itself trampled -- and quite not worth the energy of rooting there. Brisk, slightly chilly spring breezes find their way into the breezeway, stirring the puddles of the many rainstorms that always manage to dump water onto the little, narrow walkway -- despite the coverings and shelter.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Zolomon walked through the breezeway after returning a bowl he borrowed to the kitchens, not a busy time of day at least so not as much risk of a lot of beasts being around.
Leon notices the hare and goes to walk around him, "Excuse me" He decided to help wash dishes today and has just finished.
Zolomon grins "Brother L....hallo to you. I was just returning a bowl from where had some soup….a lot of soup that was jolly good, sort of need a bit of something sweet, do excess me chap be right back" He slips into the kitchens and returns with an apple pie and smiles" A wee snack"
Leon asks, "That’s a snack? I do not think Friar Lacota would like to find a pie missing, nor a hare helping themselves to food and its Brother Leon, not what you said"
Zolomon grins "Well see de pie won't be found that easily Brother L, no cause I plan to hide it in a safe place" He proceeds to eat the pie "My...stomach.....won’t bally well find it there" He talks between mouthfuls of pie, he has a talent and its make food disappear in a short amount of time. He pours some October Ale into a mug, yeah he had some ale also from an empty cleaned out flask "Good stuff" He then finishes the pie, "See…..what pie?" He grins.
Leon sighs and shakes his head" It’s still wrong and he will still know it’s gone"
Zolomon chuckles , "Maybe but not by whom." He takes another sip of the October ale." I may slip another pie, there was one other...." He slips in and out with a 2nd pie, an apple again and starts to eat it as well, a sip of ale and a bite of pie “Food is good here I must say"
Leon frowns and speaks up “ If I were you I would stop, how do hares even eat so much?"
Zolomon grins, "I will just tell him how great a cook he is, a master of his trade in fact and maybe help him make another pie." He smirks " So I can eat it, these are great!" He finishes the 2nd pie and his last few sips of ale and puts the tin down on top of the other tin." Well I am good to go now, soon as Gramps is done chatting"
Leon frowns, "Gramps? Is there another hare with you?"
Zolomon shakes his head no "Nope, just this like really really old badger, lives in Ferravale. Not a bad place Ferravale, interesting beasts there, might decide to live there myself, think that’s good idea Brother L?"
Leon frowns, he gives up as seems no use to tell the hare not to call him Brother L, "I don't know, that’s up to you...ummm who are you?"
Zolomon answers with a bow "Zolomon Arturo Garrick Anderson IV"
Leon nods "Nice to meet you, I think I remember you from few days ago. You were the one who shot an arrow at Jedrick, the wildcat at the gates about a week ago"
Rayen uses the breezeway to get out of some light drizzle that has started and nods a hello to the two beasts here.
Zolomon nods "Yeah the chap is dead now, very dead in fact so no more threat..." He nods a hello to the fox "Hallo miss"
Leon asks, "Hello Rayen how are you doing?"
Rayen says, "Hi, I am doing well. Looks like we have a new guest at the abbey"
Zolomon says, " "Zolomon Arturo Garrick Anderson IV" He smiles "Rayen huh....hmm" Well he can think of a short nickname later."
Leon nods "Yeah, think he is just passing through though"
Rayen nods "Always nice to see new guests"
Leon nods "Yes new guests are always welcome"
Zolomon grins "I like this place and even though missed the last feast I have no plans to miss the winter feast whenever it is"
Rayen chuckles, "It will be a couple months till the winter feast, and we have a feast each season, to welcome the new season and name the season"
Leon says, "Yes should be interesting, then feasts are always nice"
Zolomon is curious "Interesting how Brother L?"
Rayen blinks at the name, and waits on a reply.
Leon answers "Well a stoat named Marek was recently forgiven and invited to the winter feast, he has abbey hospitality back and can enter the abbey....least think so, or if he is ever hurt could be treated in the abbey infirm now as before he couldn’t be"
Zolomon says, "I know him, Mr. M at de tavern in Ferravale. I think he is a good guy...I trust the chap, and he is tavern owner in Ferravale and good ale there too""
Rayen says, "I heard about that"
Leon says, "Anyway I should get back to the infirm, in case I am needed"
Zolomon nods "Course Brother L." He then thinks "You’re a healer right?"
Rayen smiles "Brother Leon is the Master Healer of the abbey, I am a healer who helps him when needed, why do you ask?"
Leon starts to head off and then waits to listen to the hare.
Zolomon frowns "Gramps mentioned...that he was dying and….well he is really really old but, I don't know...maybe there is some way to stop it?" He then shakes his head "Never mind dumb question as course there isn’t.......I should go find Gramps he promised xandy he be back by tonight and xandy is at the hut in Ferravale....chat later" He then walks off.
Rayen frowns "His grandpa?"
Leon blinks and frowns "No...he means Zee. Zee did mention it to me week or so ago, we talked about a couple other things. That was one of them.....not really anything I can do, I mean zee is...well pretty old, think older than Lorimis was even."
Rayen nods " Maybe talk to him, don’t know....need any help in the infirm?"
Leon shakes his head "No....not right now, I best check on a beast in the infirm though. A novice was helping in the cellar and dropped a heavy box on their foot paw, think it’s just sprang but they wanted me to check it again in case its broke so see you later" He then heads off.

( In this Log Jedrick murders an abbey beast, and then demands his “weapon” be returned to him or else, afterwards Jedrick heads to the Black Gull where plans are discussed and possibly heard by a beast who shouldn’t of heard them)
==North of Redwall Abbey on the road==
Jedrick was healed up and he even was slowly gathering a small group, with one thing in mind, he was getting back what was rightfully his and he was doing that soon. With him as a couple rats, a ferret and a couple weasels .
Thorn had left to get some clay, but she was almost home now and slowed when she seen the wildcat and frowned, she decided to go to the side of the road, maybe use a side gate to get into the abbey if someone was nearby.
Jedrick saw the rat maid and snapped his fingers and made sure her path was blocked "Excuse me, going somewhere? First I have an offer you, if your listen, a chance to join me and my group as I gather more forces, a group hopefully one day feared....and help me acquire my weapon at the abbey, they stole it from me" He smirks "I aim to get him back"
Thorn frowns and backs off, "I..don't think" She looks at the blocked path "Weapon?..Him?" It then seems to dawn on her "Your..your Jedrick! My father would NEVER let you even place half a footpaw in the abbey and no way in heck I would join some evil group"
Jedrick eyes narrow as he draws out a blade, "Why would a rat care who is in the abbey and why would a rat have a say so....your father must be some sort of power huh...I know enough, that abbey isn’t run by any vermin, its woodlander place"
Thorn keeps alert herself "My father adopted me, he is the abbot of Redwall and he is a squirrel...but whats that to you and that so called weapon is my friend ya jerk, and you’re a slaver so ...may will just tell them whats going on" She goes to make a run for it and bolt between a couple rats, if she can.
Jedrick rolls his eyes “I hate no as an answer and I also hate beasts who want to ruin things..." Unseen is a ferret in the trees, one he hired for a body guard, he raises a paw and an arrow is fired at the rat maid, barbed wire it appears and maybe , maybe just a hint of poison on it.
Thorn manages to almost make it to the road, when she feels the arrow go deep into her back and stumbles against the tall grass with a weak groan, she tries to stand and then her eyes flutter shut and she goes limp. She won't be getting up again. The rat known as Thorn is dead.
Jedrick watches as the ferret jumps down and checks the rat and nods "Dead..." The wildcat nods "Good, now let’s let the abbey know they have a deadline to give me my weapon..or someone else might die also" He walks on down the road, towards the abbey.
RW Abbey: Main Gate
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You are at the main entrance into Redwall Abbey. The gates are a massive, double-doored wooden affair, reinforced with iron, and with a heavy latch and crossbar on the inside to prevent would-be invaders. While the gates almost always stand open, you get the impression that the builder of this portal designed it to be nigh impregnable. The entrance arch is amazingly thick, denoting the strength and thickness of the ancient walls themselves, which, despite the upheavals of the past, and numerous cracks present in the rose colored stone, still stand tall and strong. Uncountable pawprints can be seen in the dirt, leading both in and out of the Abbey. Along the bottom of the wall on either side of the arch, weeds and wildflowers can be seen in plenty.
It is dark, though torches have been lit on either side of the gate to light your way inside. Things are quiet apart from the occasional buzz of night insects. The walls are a darker shadow against the sky.
Jedrick arrived at the gate, with him a ferret, two rats, and a couple weasels, the beginning of a small group. One of the weasels carried a limp rat maid and dropped then at their foot paws near the gates. “I demand attention now!" He called up to the walls.
Cynthia was on the wall top with a fellow novice and smiled, well least till she hear and then seen the wildcat and the others.
The mouse Caleb was on the wall top, "Cynthia I wanted to..."He was interrupted as the shouting was heard and looked down, a frown forms "Cynthia, get off the wall tops, and get a guard or something...or someone"
Cynthia nods and quickly goes down the stairs, she isn't sure whom to get but she will get someone.
Benar walked up the stairs and carefully looked down at the wildcat" What is it you need sir?" He stayed calm and beside him was a couple guards.
.
Jedrick smirks and then speaks "it's simple, my weapon needs returned to me, or else " He nods to the limp figure of Thorn ." I hate to have any other beasts from this place die, least she claimed she was from here, it could of been a lie but still a death is a death and I could easily have any of my men wait till an order beast left and...well they could have a similar fate as the rat"
Benar lets out a small gasp but manages to stay calm, "What is this weapon? Why would we have it?"
Jedrick narrows his eyes "The badger cub! He is mine and I -WILL- have returned what is your reply?"
Benar answers "Simple, it’s a no...we will not be letting you enslave any beast, nor let you inside this abbey" He then goes to walk down the stairs, the couple guards keep an eye on the wildcat and the vermin.
Jedrick hisses as he draws his blades "Wrong answer! Your regret that decision more than you already have, no one says no to me, NO ONE!"
An arrow flies through the air, and aimed to hit the wildcat in the shoulder, and the one firing it is none other than a hare, "I believe he said no chap, and that was a warning shot next time it won’t be a warning. I am Zolomon and I can shot a fly off a weasel's ear at 500 yards scum and the next one is aimed at somewhere more vital!!"
Jedrick hisses as the arrow buries it’s self into his shoulder and he looks at the hare "I hate long ear fools.....well I aim to be back" He nods to the ones with him "We leave...just remember my words and tell your abbot as well" He then walks north, he seems smarted that he looks and tonight most likely wise to leave when he did.
Benar has made it to the gates and watched the wildcat leave, quickly heading to Thorn to check on her.
Zolomon waits till the vermin are gone and walks over to the abbot and frowns "Someone you know sir?" He looks at Thorn and then asks "And whats this about a badger cub the wildcat wants?"
Leon was called to the entry by Caleb and pushes through the varies beast in the entry. "Thorn is his daughter" He keeps it simple and checks her over, healer mode and then after checking a pulse a couple places he leans back looking to bolding back tears "She’s....she’s gone, I'm....s..sorry"
Benar holds Thorn close as tears are not held back, he looks up at the hare and clears his throat , letting a otter guard take Thorn inside after a few moments " I...I need to get inside" He says quietly “Your welcome to come in sir hare, its most likely safer inside" He then heads to his room, a little early but he needs some time alone to grieve over Thorn and then have a meeting about the wildcat.
Zolomon nods and frowns sadly "I offer my help if ya would like it" He then goes to follow the others inside, handing off his longbow and quiver to whomever takes those while he is in the abbey.
Leon sighs and speaks, "I am sure any help would be greatly liked, and that wildcat held a badger cub as a captive for a couple seasons, we recently got him rescued and returned, he is with one of his uncles for now, trust me safe"
Zolomon says, "I see...well" He makes a mental note, and a growling changes the subject "SO where is your chow at, I am mighty hungry...to the kitchens as one can't think straight on an empty stomach"
Leon frowns, a hare in the friar's kitchen....that could be worse than news of a wildcat, he goes to follow the hare, he best make sure not too much is ate.
Zolomon arrives in the kitchens, he soon has a whole apple pie, a large mug of October ale, some cheese, couple apples and a half loaf of bread “Just a snack before bed, good night’s sleep is wise as well sir mouse"
"It’s Brother Leon and I am Master Healer of the abbey" He sighs as he watches the hare eat. "Just....it may be better to wait till breakfast to eat anything else, least feel the Friar's wrath"
Zolomon shrugs as he gets more ale and just a slice of peach pie, "If ya say so..." He finishes the snack and bows "Till morning L...yeah I like that, Brother L goodnight" He then heads to bed.
Leon blinks "Brother L.?..Wait...." He sighs as the hare is gone, he shakes his head and goes to check on the abbot, then he will head to the gatehouse to be with his mate and kids.
The Black Gull - Tavern
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An ever present combination of smells greets any new arrival upon entering the Gull. Various ales and grogs, rums and wines; of course, the scents and aromas of liquors would be there. It's a tavern. But along with those airs, the underlying odor of unwashed bodies and unclean boots can be detected. It is this joining of scents that gives the Gull a very well-loved and oft' visited personality.
That, and the state of the inner commons, as well.
The scuffed floorboards beneath ones footpaws will guide anybeasts' eyes to the simplistic layout that the Gull was designed in. The east wall opens, narrowly, its mouth for a well-lit vestibule to settle uncomfortably. Light, both from the outside, and the two lanterns hung there, casts a revealing glow upon the entrants, giving the patrons within a rather decent visual. Slipping further into the Gull, the light grows dimmer, and far less frequent. With no windows to the outdoors, the tavern is held in the palm of eternal dusk.
Across from the entrance, the bar has been placed upon a, slightly, raised platform. Being open on either end, it's not uncommon to see the tavern's wenches and 'tenders hustling about, passing one another as they go about their duties. Reflecting, poorly, the goings on about the bar is a large, dusty old mirror. A few beasts have traced various crude pictures in the gathered dust around the border, but for the most part the mirror (the middle of it, at least) remains clear. Cracks of time and stains from thrown drinks stripe the looking glass in a few places. Various racks and shelves with bottles, labeled and not, settle on either side of this mirror above casks. Two doors, abused and slightly battered, rest behind the bar; One faces the west and to the barn and paddock, while the other, North-facing, gives way to the kitchens. To the south is a platform consisting of drenched, copper-brown wood (mainly from spilled blood, one might assume).
With the season changing once again, the open hearth nestled against the northern wall, along with a staircase, has roared back into life. A steady fire can almost always be seen and heard crackling lazily over dead wood. A few run-down garlands are strung about the mantle; somebeast's attempt at making the Gull a little more festive, perhaps.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jedrick pushes open the tavern door and walks in, beside him a couple rats and a couple ferrets, a weasel as well as he goes to order a drink and sits down, the others sit down close beside him.
Patch is already here in a booth close by, and sipping a cheap beer, and by the looks of it losing a card game to another rat who thinks it’s funny.
Jedrick snorts as he downs his ale, he narrows his eyes at a ferret that gets to close and they do the wise thing and go to another table, " I need to do something to show I refuse to give up.....I will not be thought a fool or one who backs down easily"
A hooded cloaked figure makes their way into the tavern, the cloak is oversized and hides the ID well of the beast, including the thick mask over his snout, which also helps him disguise his voice, He scans the room and walks up to sit beside the wildcat.
Patch glances over, hooded figures tend to creep him out a little, he looks back to the one playing cards and grins as he lays down a winning hand "I win ya punk!" The other beast grumbles and leaves as Patch celebrates with an ale.
Jedrick tail wags behind him " That abbey will pay, that abbot of theirs will regret telling me no." He smirks as he speaks to the beasts he entered with" I just need to gather some...things, then we get our weapon back soon as I take someone out." He hmms "Just how to get something inside" The others shrugs "They not stupid boss"
The hooded figure chuckles, "I could easily provide you with weapons my...-friend- or take out any beast in the abbey, I have my...ways"
Patch also listens, but keeps his back to them, he is good at pretending to not pay attention, sides whoever thinks they can do anything to the abbot is a fool, well in his eyes and gossip is always nice and can come in handy for beast like this rat.
Jedrick looks over at the figure " And you are? And it’s not a weapon such as a blade, no it’s a beast..a badger cub, and I want him returned to me and the abbot of Redwall seems to not like that idea, so I wish to show him...show them all you don’t mess with me." He smirks "I once made a poison for my brother, he used it on the chieftain of Ferravale at the time...an odorless, colorless, tasteless and slow to work at first poison...news spreads fast seeing as it worked, out the only thing my brother did do right, then again without me making it...selling it to him...he would of failed."
Patch suddenly seems to find his ale going down the wrong way and falls from his chair, quick play the part of a drunk as he fakes a really good sounding giggle and sway as he walks and then is quickly leaving the Gull when he is close to the door and looks north west and starts jogging.
The hooded figure pays no mind to what seems a drunk rat as the Gull is full of them "I see....well perhaps I can help, as I said I have my ways, I get it into a drink or food and sit back and watch, trust me I have done this sort of thing for a while and not one has caught on or learned who it was or even how something happen. I can help with other things as well sir wildcat and help get this badger back to you, and maybe still offer any other needs you a of your group has or needs, or wants. How many days do you acquire to make this...poison?"
Jedrick grins "Maybe 3-4 days once I get whats needed and that’s 1-2 days, we can even meet here in say...a week? Same time even"
The hooded figure nods "A deal then, I must get going I have things to do and beasts to talk to" He heads out silently, when a beast starts to stop him they suddenly fall over dead, as he exits its seen a marten has a dagger stuck in their throats and a look of surprise locked on their face. They are also dead as a doornail.
Jedrick watches as the figure leaves and smirks "Come boys we have work to do" The two rats, two ferrets and weasel follow Jedrick, he even gains another ferret, the wildcat group slowly slowly grows, its small now but all things start small do they not?

Leon-Brother Leon and Master Healer of Redwall Abbey
Benar-Abbot of Redwall
Volos-Visitor of Redwall
RW Abbey: Entry
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The raging fireball in the great bowl of the sky as well as the constant, sweltering heat that refuses stubbornly to ease even during the odd hours of the night herald the arrival of summer. You stand on a grassy sward between two cottages. To the south you see a small, calm pond. To the north lies an open space where the Abbey has its feasts in the warmer seasons. To the east is the Great Hall, a massive structure that rises far above the abbey walls and is completed with large towers that pierce upwards into the sky. The main building is adorned with a large, iron banded door that would allow one into the Great Hall. During the day, blinding golden lights washes over this humble clearing. In retaliation, the massive building, coated in a faded crimson soars towards the skies, its huge size offering valuable shade.
Flowers are in full bloom, brilliantly colored petals revealing to the Abbeybeasts in a loud, flamboyant fashion their sheer joy for living as well as their animated spirits. Luscious greens sweep the area in a subtler beauty, enhancing the vibrancy of the flora. Soft grasses cushion your footpaws, and from time to time a gentle breeze will caress through to shift the blades of grass and the small layer of dust. Though small in area, and humble compared to the other regions of the Abbey, it is quite clear that everything in this small clearing is bursting with life and at their prime; all have been touched by summer's grace. !!--!Summer is here!--!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Leon headed to the gatehouse, he had just been in the infirm and he appeared to be busy, he nods to his son “Ok Caleb get on to your lessons” The younger mouse nods and heads off.
It had been a few weeks since Volos left the abbey in search of answers elsewhere but the abbey apparently hasn't seen the last of him yet as Kris, the wildcat who serves as Volos' assistant pulls his strange cart back through the gates. Volos follows slightly behind, his attention on the main building, heading for it at his usual slow limping pace.
Benar is crossing the grounds talking to several of the order mice who work in the fields. It sounds like they are discussing the last of the harvest to be brought inside. He slows as he sees the wild cat and the mouse and raises a hand, "Volos you are back, welcome..."
Volos' gaze slowly moves from the building and finds Benar instead "Abbot. You catch my return. Alas you have the joy of my presence once more" he's still his dry, dismissive self "I imagine your library's records are as I left them"
Inside the gatehouse, Brother Leon is busy.
Benar says, "Indeed the Library records and the Archive are as you left them, though I am sure they have been tied and refiled and all sorts of tidying up since you were last with us. The Recorder does so like to tidy everything away."
Leon meanwhile is still inside the gatehouse finishing up writing on a couple scrolls, he glances out the window once and then gets back to looking at a scroll to double check that he wrote all that’s needed.
"I believe I recall where I was up to, presumably they have not changed the order" he sighs and stops walking after a moment. He frowns, thoughtful and slightly aggravated by something "The workshop space you promised, is that still available?"
Benar says, "Of course, if you need someplace to sit and work I am sure I can find you space Volos, just remember what I said about pitching in to help out around the abbey."
Volos gestures back to Kris who's just finishing securing the cart and settling in to guard it "I promised the help of my assistant and he will provide it. Your fields only require mundane hard work, something better left to the young and able-bodied, he will be of more used to your gardens than me"
Benar shakes his head in amusement, "well as long as your assistant does not mind helping, do they have a name?" He smiles at the wildcat, "Be welcome to the Abbey of Peace," He bows his head to them then glances at Volos, "As for workshop space I will see some is set aside. Though are you still trying to talk to the spirits of those departed?"
Volos appears curious at the amusement "His name is Kris. He is obligated by debt to follow but if it was his wish he may do as he pleases" The cat doesn't seem unfriendly or mistreated anyway even if he's not talkative, he does raise a paw in greeting though and as soon as the cart is secured he does approach Volos again. Volos only glances back to check it's him coming closer before Benar's question causes him to pause "Perhaps...A spirit may see more than a recorder but researching the process is complicated and will take time"
Benar says, "I see, well I do wish you luck... but our records are full of the times when Martin has spoken to us. Or one of the spirits of our departed friends, they have always come to us."
"In times of crisis, yes. Your abbey does not currently appear to be in danger and you appear to have no control over this phenomenon" Volos sighs again "I can't sit and wait for ghosts to feel talkative...particularly when it's unclear if they would consider a sorcerer friend or foe"
Benar shakes his head, "I cannot say I approve of you trying to disturb the ghosts and spirits who protect the abbey Volos. You have my blessing to stay and read our archives. But please resist any urges your research may unearth to disturb the tombs of those who guard the abbey in their sleep."
Volos narrows his eyes on the squirrel, he's thinking but it's a minute before he speaks up again "Your disapproval is noted. I do not enjoy the prospect of speaking to the dead, perhaps the idea of ghosts is happier for those who have not endured wars...I hope to never be so desperate but hope is in short supply the longer this search takes"
Benar looks at the self-proclaimed sorcerer and shakes his head, "I wish you luck in your research Volos but I have little wish to disturb the dead. They should be allowed to rest until such time as they decide to talk to us."
Volos is still thoughtful "Perhaps" he starts walking towards the abbey again with Kris hesitating for a moment then heading back to the cart to keep guard on it. "But it would be helpful if they would speak up quickly, time will eventually run out"
Benar moves to walk alongside Volos, "What is it you need to know with such urgency Volos?"
Volos glances back at the abbot and seems to be considering his words before he speaks "Someone stole something important. A patrol brought it here to hide it, I need to know where they went"
Benar looks down at Volos, "A patrol of who brought it here? To the Abbey or Mossflower?" he frowns, "I can't imagine a redwaller stealing anything from any beast"
Leon exits the gatehouse with a couple scrolls, some inventory of the infirmary of whats there and needed ect. He starts to walk towards the great hall, least till he sees the abbot and then heads over towards him.
Volos shakes his head "A patrol from a now fallen kingdom, sent by a doomed King as a last act of spite. Your abbey dwellers are innocent to this. They came from across the sea and I followed. They were headed towards Mossflower, whether they stopped here I'm unsure" he sighs heavily "A fools errand from the crown, fitting" Leon earns a glance as he gets closer but Volos is bad at greeting others.
Benar waves a paw at Leon, "Brother Leon, good day to you my friend, I trust all is well in the Gatehouse?" He then turns back to Volos and frowns, "I see... I am sorry to hear your errand is so... difficult. if we can aid in any way we can, there must be a more mundane manner to track down this item."
Leon waves " I finished inventory for the infirmary and all should be well till spring now"
"Searching your records is the mundane manner. My hope is that they chose to visit a place so widely spoken of and were interesting enough to be of note" another glance at Leon and Volos finally nods a greeting in return.
Benar says, "Well if they were seen they will have been recorded." he shakes his head, "I hope there is something in our records you can make use of" he glances at Leon and nods, "everything in stock?"
Leon nods "Mostly, still a couple things to get, but it’s not something that is hard to get as will be fairly easy, have some things to dry out but once it’s done it can be placed in the storage cabinet the infirmary has, and I should be able to have my surcoat and bag with supplies as I usually try to do"
Volos nods slowly "We shall see. There are plenty of seasons yet to search" he doesn't sound particularly hopeful of the search. The conversation on the infirmary he listens to quietly for a moment before finally actually speaking to Leon "I have heard the finest healers in this land are found here, I expect this is not simply an exaggeration?"
Benar says, "Well Leon let me know if there is anything I can help with to help you restock everything." He looks at Volos again and nods, frowning, "I hope you will join us for the Autumn feast on the twenty second of October? It will be quite the feast and lots of old history is retold then."
Leon smiles and nods "I will" He looks at the other mouse “Out healers here are very good, yes..." He nods again to Benar “History is always good to remember, the good as well as the bad times even"
"Should my search of your records continue that long I imagine I will be able to see your feast, I have certainly read accounts of many of your previous ones" Volos replies to the abbot before there's another slow nod for Leon "Noted. Though I would disagree as to the knowledge of history, there are many things that we may be happier to forget or at least allow to fade from detail"
Benar says, "Well it would not be a trip to Redwall if you didn't stay for the feast, it'll let us thank Kris for all his assistance as well," He smiles softly, "And there are some verbal stories not written down that may come up. Things people have seen and done during the past few seasons.""
Leon says, "I am sure there is some things not recorded down yes"
"I shall endeavor to attend then" Volos replies, still thoughtful again "For now I must recall where I was in your records and enjoy the comfort of a seat. It has been a long journey back" he bows his head slightly to the pair "Good day to you both" he says before he finally crosses the last small gap to the abbey building to move inside.
Leon watches as he heads inside, nods to the abbot and goes about his day, after he makes sure to go over the scrolls with the abbot.
Redwall Log October 25-2016
Leon-Brother Leon and Master Healer of Redwall Abbey
Alise- Visitor to Redwall Abbey
Thorn-Rat and lives at Redwall, Adopted daughter to Abbot Benar
RW Abbey: Second Orchard
Verdant green has swept across the orchard, taking over from the icy hand of winter, long since passed. Blooms and leaves have sprouted on the mature trees that dot the orchard and give it its name. Trees mostly of the apple variety dot this area of the immense orchard, though others of almonds, peaches, oranges, apricots, walnuts and others are spattered throughout. Why in the minority? /Their/ area of the orchard is a little ways closer to the pond. Grass sprouts as if on a mad quest to cover anything and everything with its pleasant, gentle emerald spreads across the ground. Soft to the footpaw and not so tall as so you have to wade through it, it's one of those plants that's taken for granted, even beneath the shade of the leafy orchard trees.
Sunlight lances down through the translucent leaves and patterns arrive on those blades of grass that let little specks of sunlight through, though the whole air of the forest is cool and green, a vision in jade. Against that jade, little specks of color of flours and fruit can be had whilst wildflowers can be seen scattered about the orchard floor along with the soft, springy carpet of grass. A shady/sunny portion of the abbey that's farmed and sat under, lunched and played under and an integral part of the abbeybeast's lives.
Alise sits by one of the trees, the harvest is in so it’s not busy here, it’s sort of calm empty of beasts for now and she seems fine with that. Her shoulder is bandaged from her injury but its recovering nicely.
Leon walks over to the hare maid and nods a hello" Hello there, I do hope your being careful with your injury. I heard some of what happen and no need to repeat it"
Alise blinks as she looks up "Oh.....yeah being careful, I was just looking around your abbey, it’s nice. My parents were here for, well a short time .....but couldn’t find much out of them." She frowns deeply.
Leon listens "Well, did they live here or passed through? I am sure they may be in the records we would just need to know when it was they visited is all and names"
Alise sighs "They...didn’t live here, but they did ......die here, well in the abbey fighting some horde group that had taken over around 8 seasons ago or 7 seasons maybe...Sara and Mike were their names and they may well be buried in your graveyard but didn’t see or find them"
Leon frowns "A horde.....hmmms, may of been...yeah" He remembers one time very well, "As for if they are in the graveyard, maybe...there is some marked and unmarked graves there, most marked unless we didn’t have a name and usually we tried to find a name, or they could be buried in the woods not far from here it would depend on where they were from, as some did take any dead to other places also"
Alise says, "They are not buried elsewhere, my Aunt and Uncle would of...told me.”
Leon frowns “Well, maybe we could check the library, we don’t have an active Recorder right now, but the records are in a good order by date and seasons, we could check I mean it wouldn’t hurt to anyways.”
Alise smiles a little “Sure I would like that led the way sir”
RW Abbey:
The library has never looked better in seasons as shelves have been
repaired and so have tables and chairs. The once empty sleeves now
have more books in them and not only that the books are in an ABC
order and arranged by subject to better find what one is looking for.
The beautifully crafted windows are well cleaned.
This gives the library plenty of light during the daylight hours. The
room has a high vaulted ceiling. The flagstones of the floor are cool
and smooth, and echoes are sometimes heard when beasts walk. Brass
lamps containing short, fat little white candles provide enough light
for reading. Some books are still being mended but being working on
getting on the shelves. The backroom is even very clean and organized
as well. Books were found in the attic and some from Ferravale were
added that the Ferravale beast had maybe two copies of something so
gave Redwall one of the copies for the Redwall library, all in all a
lot of hard work has done wonders for the library.
On an Oakwood desk is the charter laying inside a clear glass case for
all to see. The glass case keeps it safe and clean. Some other chairs
large and small, wooden and soft, have been placed in varies places
in the library and a pile of covers and blankets sit in one corner
with a few pillows

Abbey Charter
Leon leads the way to the library and to a side shelf " You said it was 7-8 seasons ago?"
Alise nods as she looks around "Nice library sir, good amount of books and guessing records are very well keep”
Leon looks at a couple rows " So what happen during that time, it will help to find what I was looking for"
Alise answers "It was a time a stoat took over the abbey for like a season, a group of Redwall beasts managed to get out before then and get to the Western Shore and get the Long Patrol to help. My parents went, my father Mike and mother Sara, he was a runner but could fight very well and her, a healer. I forgot the stoats name as my Aunt and Uncle didn’t like talking about it, they took me in after that. My Uncle spoke of it some. His name was Dax...they lived in Halyard, my Uncle was in the LP but quit that season when the Patrol got back home..too many bad memories I guess"
Thorn enters the library, now that she can read better, even if still slower than the rest, she loves it here. She nods a hello to the two beasts “Hello"
Leon listens “I...remember that, I was here for part of it anyways till....well that’s a story for another day. Our Abbot went, he want abbot at that time, he was an Elder in the order, also a Sister Zinnia, a squirrel named Anomen and Lacota went as well, and someone named Treesong or Treesing...something like that." He finds a couple scrolls and lays them out as he waves to Thorn “Hello Thorn"
Alise steps back and frowns "A rat...a rat is in your abbey, why is a rat in your abbey?" She don't seem scared just serious curious, as if it’s not something one would expect from this place.
Thorn smiles "Hi---" And then the smile is gone "I live here, I am not some...evil rat. I wouldn’t harm any beast"
Leon frowns faintly before speaking "Thorn is a friend, and adopted daughter to Abbot Benar. Please do not worry miss Alise she speaks the truth on not harming anyone. And she helps around the abbey also." He debates on mentioning that a small family of foxes live in the abbey and decides to not mention that just yet.
" Rats are vermin, my Aunt and Uncle says all are evil and..and to stay away from them, I did in Halyard...course more were there and claimed to get along with woodlanders...that wasn’t always so, trust me" She takes the two scrolls and goes to the other side of the room to look them over, its clear Alise rather not be near Thorn.
Thorn ears go back a little as she looks to Leon and then the hare, she is not sure what to say as tears threaten to form, "I..I think I will just check up on some reading lessons later with Caleb..in..in another room" And she quickly heads out of the library and down into the Great Hall.
Leon raises a paw "Thorn wait......" He sighs and walks over to the hare "Your gonna need to give her a chance and besides the abbey wouldn’t let an evil beast within its gates"
Alise frowns "Maybe they would if they didn’t know...vermin can trick others ya know" She soon seems to find what she was looking for "I am writing down what I remember and trust me a lot of it is not easily forgotten. Me and a guard named Anomen, he’s a squirrel, were told by Martin the Warrior himself to seek aid at Salamandastron to help recover his sword and to help aid Redwall from an attack by a horde led by an evil stoat named Marek. The sword was stolen from our Champion Flicktail by a squirrel named Oak who drugged him and another guard. Oak lost the sword to Marek who used it as a symbol of power and took over Redwall. Redwall fell that day and those still there were now captive and under the power of Marek and his horde. Sister Zinnia..." She is quiet before adding "That..that’s the stoat my Uncle told my Aunt about" She looks for more writing on the details of what happen.
Leon stays quiet for now as he listens, he has his own memories of course and even read some of what happen during the season.
Alise reads more "Here it says the abbey was freed...." She looks over at Leon "Was this Marek slayed then?"
Leon doesn't answer, least right away "Well....he escaped, but a lot of things have happen since then and even with Marek...Marek sort of changed and sort of...well he has helped the abbey a couple times, some trust him and others don’t but he isn’t a horde leader now and lives...well he lives elsewhere now"
Alise frowns "Vermin don’t change...they NEVER do, its probably a trick" Hey it’s her thoughts"8 seasons ago killed my parents and almost my Uncle, that is EVIL in my book" She walks over to another scroll and opens it, scanning it and soon finds another line she snorts at "ya..helped.....so well this is interesting and where he lives" As she reads out loud "Some other things around the area is Marek is back, but he seems to have changed and maybe is trying to be good. Marek lives in Ferravale for now and even helped me and Scioto as well as himself when a beast tried to poison us. The beast was after Marek and Scioto more than me, guess I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But things turned out ok and I am fine as well as Marek and Scioto."
Leon sighs "Yes he killed a lot but he was evil then...and finding out where he lives is not going to help you" He decides to put the scrolls back where they were as he listens, he also brings up "You also wanted to know if your parents were in the graveyard here, we do have a list of whom is buried there whether they are from the abbey or not, did you want to look at it? We have a list of former abbey beasts and others whom were not abbey beasts"
Alise crosses her arms over her chest" SO he lives in Ferravale and whom is Scioto, dos he know where Marek is? And Ferravale is that town by the bridge isn’t it?" So many questions and she barely hears about the list of graves her ears droop, "Yeah I....would like to know.Sara and Mike ...from the Long Patrol if that’s on a tomb stone at all"
Leon nods as he looks through a list he finds, he quietly speaks "Scioto was the chieftain of Ferravale, he was killed and his daughter Blisa took over as Chieftain, so your need to talk to her . I would suggest you be careful, it is a vermin village and I also would suggest you not go there all revenge happy without fin current facts first, not base all on things of the past as things change...sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worse but sometimes for the better as well, think about that"
Alise is listening somewhat, but only a little as her mind races on what happen in the past and that she needs answers and one way or another she is going to find them,"Yeah...yeah" She mutters.
Leon watches the hare looks over the list before speaking "Your parents are in the graveyard here, in a section to the back and to the left, its marked...maybe 3nd row back from there"
Alise makes a quick note of this and nods "Thanks sir." She starts to head to the stairs to leave.
Leon nods "Welcome and...Alise, please think before you act on anything. Marek is not the same beast he was during that take over, I am not saying instantly trust him but...just don’t go into that village with plans to kill, it won’t end well for you..?"
Alise just shakes her head and walks on out of the library, it’s hard to say whats on her mind right now.
Leon watches her go and sighs, he mutters quietly to himself “Hope she makes the right choice"
Happen shortly after Xander was found and taken to Redwall where Leon got to check him over and tend to him, then talked to Zee
Redwall Log:
Leon-Brother Leon and Master Healer of Redwall Abbey
Zee- Resident of Redwall Abbey
Short log but a good one=
A break is sometimes needed from infirm duties and he decided to take one now, it’s been busy since last night with a sudden guest and then this morning, he left Angela in charge the rest of the day, he trusted her to handle things and made sure others knew that as well.
Leon made his way to the orchards finally and looked around, "Need a serious break..."
Zee was already in the orchards and sat staring off into space with a deep sigh and a sniffle. It looks like he had been crying more than once and didn’t come to lunch earlier.
Leon walks over to the badger "Hey Zee, you doing ok? Didn’t see you at lunch, then again I sort of ate in the infirm. Angela is in charge the rest of the day"
Zee doesn't look up as he speaks "I find him, finally find him and may well lose him again. Tis not fair and I got lucky to even of found him, I was in de right place at de right time and learned of him being back.....as I was helping with harvest in Ferravale" He most likely should of had his own cuts and such looked out, some he did but only briefly. He still has a rather bad looking slice on his lower left arm and a swollen bottom lip.
Leon sighs and sits down to examine the badger "I swear.....if it was not for me, some stubborn beasts would just fall over dead cause something not so major, becomes major cause they didn’t get it checked out in time" He shakes his head as he looks over the wounds and if he can applies any herbs needed after cleaning and also any bandages needed are used.
Zee allows the help silently, he frowns "Not gonnna fall over dead any time soon lad, I be fine as I have had worse tis the boy I am worried about, not me self"
Leon nods as he listens “Yes but he will need you more than ever now you know, and I am doing all I can, as is Angela and the other healers, this is the best place in Mossflower for Xander to be to heal and recover"
Zee nods slowly "I..I know that lad, but what he had ta of gone though, de wildcat was gonna kill him had I not got thar and knocked it out, Jedrick is still alive trust me and he still needs dealed with but my first concern was the boy, not the stupid wildcat pest"
Leon says, "And ya choose well, I am sure this wildcat can be found and taken down later if needed, from what I got from the one hare, the wildcat was already wounded before you found and knocked him out, he most likely is not going far and he will need to Look for a healer soon"
Zee shrugs "I could care less wot de wildcat does or doesn’t do lad. My focus is Xander"
Leon says, "I understand your concern for Xander, I do Zee. Maybe try to get your mind off it as there is the feast tomorrow and this gives even more reason to celebrate...Xander being found and brought home"
Zee frowns "Only if I know he will live, then maybe I will think of other things besides him right now"
Leon speaks "I cannot always say a beast will for sure live or not, if he gets though today and tonight he has a much better chance to live, the first few hours are the most important time for something like this "
Zee says, "I know lad, I know and I plan to go back to the infirm here soon and stay by his side."
Leon says, "First you’re going to have something to eat, then you’re going to rest in your room. Then you can see Xander ok? Not till then as I don’t wish to have too many beasts in my infirm at the same time there is a feast."
Zee frowns " Fine I can eat and take a nap, but I want ta be thar when he wakes up"
Leon says, "And someone could always wake you up and let you know he is awake, you could be one of the non-healers to know first"
Zee is silent before asking "And would they let me know if he is worse or better, would they some reason forget"
Leon says, "Zee they would not, of Couse they will tell you right away"
Zee nods "Ok ok, just I worry I don’t want ta lose him again, I can’t go through that again"
Leon listens as he lays a paw on the badger's arm "Me and my healer staff will do their best to make sure you don't lose Xander, he is in good paws here in the abbey not to worry on that Zee. He is safe, he is recovering, anything further will be helped by friends and family, like you and Oz for example...you two the most likely"
Zee just nods, he has a few tears go down his face. It’s clear he is worried and maybe even a little unsure but he tries not to show it much.
Leon goes to give Zee a hug " It’s going to be alright Zee, trust me. Things will be ok"
Zee lets tears flow, one needs a good cry now and then, to prevent overwhelmed bottled up feelings from being worse and this is his just let it go and cry, and not care whom is around.
Leon stays by his friend, he is just there as a friend, to comfort if needed or simply be there and that’s sometimes all one truly needs sometimes.
=This ICLY happen like a day or two before Jedrick got his boat and small crew to head away from Halyard 10-12-2016=
Jedrick was greedy yes he wanted more gold and one way to do it was placing bets at the fighting pits. He grinned as he had won a 3nd time when a tall ferret took out a rat, before the ferret had taken out a hedgehog and a weasel. He smiled as he counted his winnings.
Xander frowned “I thought we left soon, why do you ne doe gold for?” Hey he was curious and right now bored.
Jedrick narrowed his eyes at the badger and grinned when the ferret asked for another challenger to step into the fighting ring, the wildcat went to push Xander into the fighting area, course he could resist the push if he is paying attention.
Xander gasped as he tumbled into the ring and stood up to dust himself off, he frowned at Jedrick and walked back over to the edge “I..I fell..s…sorry sir”
The ferret, known as Crush, just grinned “Well what do we have here hmmmm?” He smirked “A stripe dog, and not even a full grown one, well still should be fun”
Jedrick just shrugged “Win this fight and ya get to leave the ring. It’s simple really”
Xander eyes widened and he looked to the Ferret and gulped slightly “Umm…..hi?”
Crush grinned at the badger and got a short sword and tossed one to the badger as well “We start…begin!!” He doesn’t even give him time to step aside and is already aiming for his neck with a cruel laugh.
Jedrick watches closely as the fight starts, wondering deep down if this will be the shortest fight in history or will it be somewhat entertaining.
Xander barely manages to duck and slide sideways, he does get a cut on his lower arm and blood forms, he also managed to catch the short sword throw to him, but it nicked his paw some, he grips it at the handle and slice at the ferret’s mid-section, he has good skill for his age, not perfect but it is a lot better than most his age would have. He also has quickness on his foot paws on his side
Crush starts to laugh and then gets a surprised look on his face when the badger gets a slice in across his stomach and blood pours from the wound, he growls and swings the blade in anger so he no focused at all, just aiming to hit whatever is closer to him at the time.
Jedrick raises an eyebrow n then smirks as he watches the now to him interesting fight.
Xander quickly leaps back, barely missing slice to the chest, he stabs forwards in a quick motion when the ferret has his blade over his head, he feels a cut to the shoulder but luckily it’s not deep as he growls in pain and uses that pain to stab the ferret again, this time harder.
Crush hisses in pain as the first stab enters his lung and gasps as he tries to breath, he brings the sword down to try and slay this cub and his eyes widen and the dim when the blade from the badger enters his chest again and into his heart, instantly killing him. He staggers backwards and falls over lifeless.
Jedrick looks pleased at this and chuckles coldly “Well most interesting indeed”.
Xander was unsure what to do, some angry beasts bet the ferret would win or kill the badger grumble at lost money, one rat cheered as he made a rare bet the badger would win. Xander just stands there staring at the dead ferret and quickly made his way out of the ring when the door was opened.
Jedrick went to the badger and grinned, “ what’s wrong Xander, let us go now I have some beasts to talk to about a boat”
Xander frowns “But…But I k..killed a beast”
Jedrick shrugs “Well kill or be killed, first time killed a beast, your get use to it after a while” He then grabbed his paw and led him to the house where he treated the wound, hey he needs the badger still so he decided to treat and bandage any wounds he had. Then the two went to bed as the next day would be a long day indeed and hopefully a start of a trip.
This happen ICLY 10-23-16
Jedrick stands by the boat as it’s tied to a tall, strong tree, "I have business, then we will abandon this boat and head north" The two ferrets with him nods as they listen.
Xander looks around, he had been below deck for a long while. The area seems somewhat familiar to him, but he stays silent.
Jedrick smirks "Let us go to the shoreline." He looks back to the boat "And there is the issue of that........hare brat, get rid of it"
Xander frowns, he looks like he wants to say something but has also learned it’s not always wise to speak when not spoken to."
Cora is unsure what the vermin mean but as she is picked up she wiggles and tries to bite one of the ferret's paws
Xander decides to speak up, knowing he will regret it later "You can't just kill her, she’s only a dibbun and too young to do anything to you...sir," He steps back a little”
Jedrick growls as he goes to slap badger, he then nods for the ferrets to drop the hare dibbun. “You don’t speak unless spoken too...let’s make camp, then get supplies"
Xander tenses up as he is slapped and closes his eyes, opening them slowly "Sorry sir, won't happen again sir" He then follows the wildcat.
It was the perfect plan. Using the boat the smugglers provided (aka, it was stolen) to go down the river would save time. It could even serve as cover, to hide away the fact that the long patrol were sailing after slavers. With the foxes new found wealth to provide supplies, and the boat which she claimed as /hers/, it was the perfect plan!
Save for one small detail...
No one was really that great at sailing up river...
"Turn to port I said. How in the blazes doesn't anyone know what port is." The fox says in a grumbling voice as she walks along the river. Her voice sounds tired, as if this conversation has been brought up before.
Cora is dropped in the river and quickly panics and screams, she somehow lands on a passing bit of branches and that’s not really safe it just prevents her from sinking right away.
Jedrick is off shore, most likely not seen as he has sent up camp down a path, but there is still the boat...empty and for now abandoned.
"Because I'm not a sailor, y'alf brained dolt! What possessed you to let me steer, anyway?! And why couldn't you not just talk like a normal beast, for the love...." Felicity also looks and sounds tired, as well as indignant and a teensy bit self-righteous. Who would ever consider making her steer a boat? Seriously.....but then she hears the scream and ducks down, shoving at the vixen to do the same. "That sounded like a Dibbun!" She whispers.
The fox yelps, face planting it into the mud as she is 'saved'. Tail twitching behind her the vixen replies, voice muffled from the earth, "Fel. You do realize, I have to murder you now."
Cora holds onto the lose branch and cries again as she looks back and forth franticly as panic gets worse
Jedrick disliked even being in Mossflower, but it was needed for now, yes he left the boat on the river by the bridge but he didn’t need it any more. The two ferrets managed to get some supplies for a few more days travel and he planned to go north “We leave soon ya lazies, I do not want to stay much longer in this area."
Xander frowns, he was chained to a strong tree and very unhappy, he had been quiet when he could of yelled for help, but he didn’t want to risk the wildcats anger, the wildcat was nice to him, sort of, most of the time anyways.
Alise was traveling not too far from camp that her and Flint had, she kept alert and studied the area where she was, when she heard voices she hide behind a tree and her eyes widen when she saw from a short distance the 4 beasts and quickly backed up and bolted to her own camp to wake up Flint, she spoke “Corporal...sir...wake up those vermin are close ta us"
Flint woke up and looked to the hare maid, "Wot?..Ok ok where lass?" He gets his longbow and stands slowly “Led the way, maybe we can get a rescue done by lunch...hopefully" He seems unsure but it’s perhaps now or never, he would hate to of come all this way and lost the dibbun.
Jedrick was always alert, he rarely let distractions get to him though he was slightly off today as he was more concern with leaving the area, he nods to the two ferrets "Get the badger, let’s go" The ferrets do as he says and then go to follow the wildcat to where ever he is heading.
Xander frowns, but he lets them take him off down the path. Whatever fight back he used to have left a few weeks ago. He has become, almost...totally obedient to the wildcat.
Alise watches from some tall weeds and looks to the other hare as she draws forth a throwing dagger, "Sur?" She asks as she listens, looking from him to the wildcat and back again.
Flint holds up a paw as he whispers "We need ta be careful lass, do this slowly and carefully." He selects an arrow and aims carefully at one of the ferrets, the one more likely to cause trouble, the one with that crossbow...he takes careful aim and then fires his arrow straight and true.
Jedrick suddenly draws his sword as his archer beast suddenly gurgles and falls over dead with an arrow deep in his back, he narrows his eyes and scans the area as the other ferret stands ready, "Someone needs ta die before we head on northwards!"
Xander gasps and looks around getting worried, this could be a friend or foe as o knows in this area.
Alise decides to jump out and flick one of her daggers at the wildcat, "Release ya captives ya vermin slime bag!!!!" She looks serious as she is in a fighting stance and her aim is fairly good as she has practiced a lot.
Flint tenses and barely contains a yell at the hare maid to wait. Gripping his longbow he gets ready to help if needed, but then long distance may not be best so he gets his saber out and goes to get ready to help fight the wildcat.
Jedrick growls, he gets the dagger in his knee and yaks it out quickly advancing on the hare maid "I killed one hare today may as well kill another! And this one will be more fun ta kill!" Twin blades out and slashing he means business. The other ferret has a cutlass and stays close to the badger captive.
Zee is walking back from Ferravale, having helped with the harvest. Beside him is a stoat, Marek and the two are talking, that is till Zee hears fighting and frowns, "Think we best save catching up one wot each other been doing later and see ta that fighting, just in case one needs some help"
Alise finds out quickly why it’s important to have good fighting skills up close as well as far off as she panics and backs up, tripping over a loose tree root prevents her from being beheaded but the other blade cuts deep into her shoulder blade as she screams in pain, she uses her powerful leg to kick out at the wildcat in hopes of hitting him somewhere so she can get away and what does he mean he killed a hare already today, no not the dibbun she thinks. Its unknown right now if the dibbun was saved or not.
Flint goes to charge the wildcat while its distracted, he has the same feelings if this wildcat killed Cora then this wildcat needs to die.
Jedrick gets a cut to his side as he is kicked backwards by the hare maid, he glares at Flint and goes to knock him to the side “Get the badger we are out of here."
The hare gets the wind knocked from him and coughs, he frowns and cusses as he goes to check on Alise "Alise?Lass?"
Xander is pulled away by ferret and the wildcat, he struggles and yells out "Help!" A hope seems to fade just as quickly as it came. What will happen next?
Alise groans as she is serious hurt and losing a lot of blood, she as she passes out.
Zee stops as he hears the familiar voice and his eyes widen as he rushes forwards, his staff in paw as it clicks and he draws forth the hidden weapon and then he stops as he gets to the two hares and blinks, behind him is the stoat Marek as he speaks "It appears Mr. Zee we have some injured beast to tend to"
Flint looks up at the badger, then sees the stoat and lays a paw on his saber, he has at his side, he studies the two and then speaks "Hallo...I am fine just winded, the lass" He looks to the passed out Alise" Needs a healer"
Zee nods still slightly out of it and finally speaks "Yes I can see that..." The stoat with him looks over the hare maid's wounds quickly and nods to a mole near him "Zaram..." The mole does some sewing, its temporary and should hold a couple hours and he and Marek tightly bandage the wound as the stoat lifts her up “We are a bit....low on good healers I can least get the girl to the abbey gates, they can take over and get her to the infirm" He then heads off, rather quickly.
Zee watches him go and clears his throat" Also I know me ears are hard of hearing sometimes but I swear I hear me nephew earlier...." He looks hopeful .
Flint tenses and looks ready to run after the stoat, he frowns at the badger before he finally remembers him "Oh..Zee winters, course.....first ya answer me why is a stoat ya friend, he seems familiar or least in some deception or other..."
Zee decides not to mention names " I trust de stoat with me life, he has had a...not so good pass but de lad has changed a lot, now Private Flint" See he remembers names, "Who attacked ya and de lass, anyone else around and was that not or was it a yes it’s me nephew I heard." He crosses his arms over his chest.
Flint says, "Corporal Flint now sir and....yes a wildcat named Jedrick and two ferrets, they have....or had two captives, a dibbun hare they may or may not of killed and.....a badger cub" He watches the badger for a reaction before adding "De same one that was with ya niece and her friends...so yeah. De wildcat and 2 ferrets ran off, can’t bally well be too far he, the wildcat, be injured some"
Zee is silent, he seems to take all this in and slowly shakes his head, "Xander......so close?" He looks at the hare “He’s alive?" It’s like he almost doesn’t believe it, it’s a joke maybe or a dream, he then is serious " I am helping to track down de wildcat, and taken' no replies of no either" He looks at the blade he has, he slides it back in place and it’s a staff again " wot don’t always need large blades lad, had this one way before de other one, me nephew Zork carried de Blade of The Northwinds Storm before I did...since his adopted daughter is a sister in de order, she didn’t take it when he died....so that leaves Xander as de next in line fer it"
Flint says, "We will get him back sir, and course ya can blooming help not wise ta fight 3 vermin alone when one is a wildcat. Come ta think of it he only has one ferret now, one be dead"
Zee nods “I trust you....just he been....gone almost 2 seasons"
Cora is currently in the water, the river and on a small bunch of tree limbs hoping they keep her afloat. she is wet...cold, and afraid.
Ignoring the vixen's whining about needing to murder her now, Felicity wriggles forward through the undergrowth, wishing that she had a uniform she could've changed into so she'd have some camouflage in the woodlands. Crawling up to the river bank, she looks for the Dibbun...
Flint is not near them, yet...he went to search for the wildcat, he and Zee simply going different directions but each close in case its needed. He has yet to see the fox and more importantly his niece.
Cora whimpers as her grip is weak and she almost slides into the water, she wails loudly and tries to make the patch of tangled trigs go closer to shore.
The vixen slowly picks her head up out of the mud. She leans back on her haunches. Dusting off mud from her vest the fox let's out a whine, "Felicity you crazed march hare! What are you-oh." She says once she sees the leveret holding dearly onto a branch to keep herself from drowning.
Felicity gasps, then shucks off her sword belt and sling, drops her haversack to the ground, and dives into the water, swimming steadily to the baby hare. "Hold on, I'm coming!" she comes up to her and reaches for Cora.
Cora cries louder when she almost sinks once and coughs barely grabbing part of a limp and looks to the hare in tears reaching towards her for help." Waters bad!!!"
Flint hears the cry and heads towards the sound, he almost trips over a certain vixen and ends up falling over a log to avoid the vixen and it’s also lucky he keeps his blade away from, well anyone and blinks serval times "Wot de seasons"
The fox is up on one knee by now, "You crazy beast! Don't jump into the...and there she goes." Grabbing her glaive the fox moves closer she extends the pole arm blade first towards the long patrol soldier,
"Here! Grab this!" Rio pauses, then switches the position of the pole arm, the butt end pointed at her instead of a deadly curved blade.
Felicity has missed the whole drama of her uncle almost falling on her traveling companion. She goes to grab the Dibbun. "Get on my back and hold on tightly!" If the leveret does so, Lissie then turns and grabs hold of the haft of the polearm.
Cora sniffs and manages to get onto Felicity's back slowly and hangs on tightly, eyes shut.
Zee walks up to where the group is and stays a short distance away, he can wait to speak and see what all is going on.
The fox's rescue attempt is thwarted somewhat when flint trips over her. She snaps her head around to see the other hare, head flipping back and forth from the new comer to the beasts in the river to the weapon she had pointing at them. "This...isn't what it looks like...I hope..."
Flint looks at the vixen, "Wait it’s...YOU" He glares slightly and looks ready to slice at the vixen, but stops himself "Wot be goin' on?!"
Watching them from a tree line is A ferret who quickly goes to whisper in a cloaked beasts ear, seems they are not the only ones here.
Felicity swims carefully. "Oi! I could really use that polearm right about n--oh, Uncle Flint! Please 'elp Rio get us to shore! Quickly, both of you, please!" She is used to the ocean, so the river's current is making it hard for her to swim back to shore, She is being threatened with being washed downstream with the leveret in tow.
Zee decides to help while the hare argues with the fox "Hold on lasses" He can easily get them both to shore, maybe a little slow but he can get them to safety and then sighs once they are to shore "Found de boat...nothing, no one is thar, thar was but they be gone. We have to find them now, not later...not gonna go through another 2seasons of...stress"
The fox twitches an eye as a badger comes out of the wood work to help them. Be it Mossflower or the coast, when woodlanders start appearing in droves it was usually a time for the vermin to scatter. And there was nowhere for her to go this time. "Just grab the pole arm." She moves deeper into the water, trying to get her weapon closer to the beasts.
Cora stays with Felicity, where ever she goes she will and most likely pass out once on shore from being tried, but she is ok just worn out
Felicity holds the leveret as the badger helps them from behind. Grabbing the pole arm shaft, she uses it to aid her back to shore, too; fighting the river current was harder than she expected! Digging out a cloak, she goes to wrap the Dibbun in it, smiling at her Uncle. "I didn't know that you were in this area....where are we, anyway?"
Flint answers "I am not sure lass...think close ta that Redwall place maybe if this be de river moss"
They are indeed watched, by a wildcat and his ferret, he smirks "Well...maybe we should help them not worry" He whispers to the ferret who nods. Their captive with them, but being keep quiet, no need to let others know they are watching them.
Zee speaks "Mossflower ya be right lad, Redwall be half a day away..maybe little less"
"Several weeks away from my fortune you mean." The fox growls, pulling with all her might to bring them closer to the river side. She slumps against the dry ground of the river bank afterwards, breathing deeply.
Felicity goes to squeeze the vixen's shoulder. "Thanks love," she says, then turns to the badger. "Thanks for your help, old lad. I say, you look awfully familiar; have I seen you before?"
Flint looks at Felicity and shakes his head "Ya shouldn’t be here tis dangerous but I am glad ya are safe"
Zee grins "Zee winters and ya seen ya before lass.....yeah" He frowns feeling worried as he looks back and forth on the river bank and kicks at loose rocks.
Meanwhile Jedrick and his ferret pal move a little closer, weapons quietly drawn.
Felicity gently sets the Dibbun down. "Oh, Uncle Flint, I can take care of myself, don't worry." Ignoring the vixen's moaning about her treasure, she instead smiles at the badger. "Oh!! You're Miss Zinnia's uncle.....so you're related to Xandah! We've tracked 'im this far; I 'ope to save 'im any day now." Little does she know that the enemy is so close.
Flint watches the badger "I say chap, do cheer up we will find de vermin scum soon"
There is some laughing as the wildcat shows himself, and the ferret is beside him" Looking for me, I am touched...well your little adventure ends now, who wants to die first?" He grins
Zee narrows his eyes as he grabs the staff and showing off the secret about it with a twist and a click, there is a raspier blade , well the staff is more interesting now as he glared at the wildcat "Where is Xander?!"
Rioko blinks at the presence of the wild cat. "Ah well...poo on a stick." There is a puff of fluff and fur as the fox dashes away, "NicemeetingyoufolkssosorryyouaregoingtodienowBAI!"
Flint is ready to fight also, and then the vixen runs but he is too focused on the wildcat and ferret.
Felicity recognizes the wildcat alright, and she draws her sword and attacks without hesitation. "RIO, GET BACK 'ERE, Y'FLIPPIN' COWARD!!!" She slices at the ferret with relentless fury, her rage at them enslaving any beast lending her strength.
Jedrick smirks and goes to attack the badger as the ferret goes to attack the hares, the battle between ferret and hares seems to last a good while but in the end the ferret is the one who loses its life, not the hares.
Zee growls and slices at the wildcat, he is aiming to get a good wound on the wildcat, he does get some claw marks to the face but he keeps fighting with all he has.
Flint pants as fighting the ferret has worn him out, he looks around worried as to where Felicity is and checks her quickly when he sees her on the ground, he sighs relieved she is only knocked out and picks her up, he looks over at the wildcat and badger. then lays his niece down and gets his longbow out firing an arrow at the wildcat
Jedrick chuckles as he is punched and draws blood from the badger, then an arrow hits him in the shoulder and he growls, the hare fires off another arrow that gets him in the leg and he stumbles and hisses
Zee growls low and goes to slam his whole weight into the wildcat, he snorts and slices at him again.
Flint narrows his eyes as he fires another arrow straight and true, this one hits the wildcat in the behind and he hisses, he is knocked sideways by the badger and manages to stand and rushes towards the woods, opposite direction where he left the badger cub tied up.
Zee pants and wipes blood from his mouth from a cut on his bottom lip where he was punched, "Xander....." He quickly heads to the river bank, hopeful "Xander!"
Flint will carry Felicity to Ferravale's infirm, it’s closer after all and something tells im that least for the time being, he can trust the place and it’s temporary anyways, once she wakes and feels ok to walk they get to the abbey to check on Alise.
Jedrick got away, he is wounded fairly well with arrows, cuts, bruises and a gash in one place. The hares killed the ferret that was working for him. Jedrick by accident had went the opposite way he had keep the badger cub, but no matter he had a plan and it was simple in his mind, if he couldn’t keep the badger no one was going to get to keep the badger and that included friend or foe alike. He tried to get back to where he had in chained up, he would still win in his mind.
Xander had managed to dig up the chain most of the way using his claws, one claw broke, yes it would grow back but it still hurt as he bleed a little, he frowned and scooted backwards from the river bank a little.
Zee had went searching after making sure the two hares made it to the Ferravale infirm ok, what it was closer and he wanted to get back to searching for his nephew sooner. He still just had the raiser in the cane weapon, right now just a cane as he looked around "Xander!!"
Jedrick hisses at the shout and then comes to the cub and growls low, right away he goes to swipe at him with his claws and knock him back a few good paces" You disobeyed and tried to get away, no matter I grow bored of you and it’s clear I may well lose you or be followed cause of YOU..so your life ends today boy" He gets out one of the blades and goes to slice at the badger cub.
Xander gasps as he tumbles backwards, the chain gives a little and is looser but the blade still cuts into his leg. He goes to stand and grabs whatever is closer to fight with, a sharp pointed stick is jabbed towards the wildcat
.
Jedrick feels the pointed end jab into one of the worse wounds and kicks at the badger, "You don't fight back to me boy unless I say so!" He chuckles and goes to push him towards the river.
Xander growls and goes to bite the wildcat's paw or paws if he can. As he does fight back the chain does loosen even more so.
Zee comes upon the river bank and right away his eyes narrow as he sees the wildcat and goes to slam into Jedrick and knock him to the side, or into something if he can. The cat is fairly hurt by the way he can't fight too well. Right?
Jedrick chuckles more, even when a paws bite and blood is drawn, he then feels himself suddenly fly sideways and into a weeping willow as he sees the older badger his vision fails and he is out cold. Still alive and hurting, one thing going for him is mud does seal some of the wounds, but he is weaker than he was and most likely will need to find or maybe kidnaped some random healer if he is to recover anytime soon. For now he will lay unconcious in the mud and...well sort of heal very very slowly. Should be out for at least a couple hours.
Xander groans as he looks up at the older badger, he has not seen him in almost 2 seasons. Xander is taller and his fur a little thicker, otherwise his face has not changed much, he does have some more muscle built and different clothing on, a black tunic and blue vest, matching pants and some sort of light cuffs with small spikes on his wrists, he coughs as he lays there and lets being worn out take over and the fact it’s been a rough past week and a half traveling along sea and river.
Zee quickly goes to check on Xander. First thing to do is find the key to this blasted chain(yes got ooc permission to get ) and he digs though the wildcat's pockets and finds it, using it he throws the key and chain into the river Moss with a snarl and goes to check the younger badgers vitals "Xander?" Tears of worry go down his face
Xander pulse is weak, but it’s there. He has a cracked rib and some bruises here and there, even old healed wounds if one looks closely. A couple scars on his left check and one on his snout is new. He shivers slightly and whimpers a little.
Zee frowns deeply, he looks around pulling out a whistle he blows couple times but after a wait of maybe 30 minutes he decides that’s a fail, he then goes to very carefully pick up the younger badger and starts to head to the abbey with him, being careful how he carries him as to not jolt him more than needed or if possible not at all.
Xander is picked up, not like he could prevent it and he stays unconcious as he is picked up and his forehead is hot to the touch, could he have a fever?
Zee holds him close "I will get you home where ya belong lad not ta worry I have you...your safe now....safe"
So Jedrick makes his way to a healer, Zee takes Xander to the abbey, this has surly be an interesting past couple days indeed.
Happen around Oct 2th ICLY
The sea is calm today as they finally got out of that darn village a couple days ago and a good wind even helped them get a day and a half further up the coast. A small crew the wildcat Jedrick controls it seem, just 5 other beasts and of course his =pet= as a calls him, and if he has anything to do with it a future weapon he can control without troubles. They were heading towards the river moss and would be near it soon, as for where to go after that the wildcat needed to think.
Xander frowns as he watches the waves, he has cleaned the deck and even below deck as it seems he has lost hope of ever seeing friends again, but the area does look familiar as he glances around and blinks, he frowns a little again as he knows he is always being watched by someone and fairly closely after one failed escape while still in Halyard.
Jedrick walks over to the badger "Seems you are done with cleaning, you can rest and listen to plans. From here we will stop a couple days, then find the best way further along the coast, it will lead to Collenstin, or maybe take the river I am unsure yet but do not get any ideas as I said before....your life is MY PAWS"
Xander nods "Understood sir. You are to be obeyed at all times" He speaks in a monotone voice, no emotion is in this voice.
Jedrick smirks "Good Xander, very good" He looks over at the land as they are passing some and speaks again" I know a place to visit just a small ways from the river Moss and the sea coast for supplies. "
The rest of the day would be fairly quiet, the weather was calm today and just a little on the chilly side as it was autumn now.
=A couple days later=
Jedrick was getting ready to go to the shore, a small hidden hut of some sort was well known to him nearby, he made sure to lock his =pet= in the lower deck before he headed to shore.
Clawfang watched the wildcat" Zurrrr is it wise to go and to stop here a couple days? I think it is not, it is not even wise to follow this river into land at all."
Jedrick stopped and turned around slowly, “You are not here to tell me how and not how to do something, you were hired to guard the ship and you will do that and make sure the boy stays where he is, not that it would be easy to leave."
Clawfang glares at the wildcat, " I took the job for the high pay but I did not sign on to stay in one place and basically say come here trouble where are ya"
Jedrick smirks " I am trouble, few mess with me and live to tell the tale of outcomes"
Clawfang seems clam, maybe too calm" Fine" But he hides and hides well his displeasure with the wildcat.
The day was calm today but it would not last. A small dibbun hare played by the river as her grandfather fished, it was quiet but it would not last. Sometimes quiet is nice and other times it hides dangers unseen as it did that morning. The little hare skipped a stone as the older hare spoke "Stay close Cora dear" But they were being watched by a couple ferrets, a rat and a wildcat, the wildcat spoke" I'm bored, let’s have some fun, sides I would like to test out my new blade."
Cora smiles and giggles as she has a flower chain of white clover "Yes grandpa." She placed the chain of clover around his neck and hugged him before skipping back over to the river bank.
Jedrick watched the small hare and then at the much older hare as he raised his paw and then dropped it, a single to attack as the two ferrets and rat charged towards the older hare and the wildcat quietly went to slip closer to the dibbun.
Clawfang was onshore as well, though he was supposed to be on the ship guarding the badger cub, but that bored him and the fact the wildcat seemed to be looking for trouble didn't help him feel any better, he wanted to avoid trouble not cause it for fun. A fish was in his paw, he caught it for food not for fun and games. He scanned the shoreline quietly as his skin color helped blend in with an old tree log.
The grandfather hare looked up just in time to see the rat, he quickly as he could he stood and hit the rat upside the head with the fishing pole, one ferret got a slice in on his back and the other cut into his right ear as blood poured down his back he yelled "Cora run!"
Cora blinked and at first frozen in place seeing vermin attacking her grandfather and then quickly went to hide behind a tree and peeked around to watch the fight knowing her grandfather wasn’t the fighting type of hare, they were simple beasts and lived off the land. Her parents died shortly after she was born and she had only known her grandfather most of her young life.
Jedrick grinned and simply used a distraction to his advantage and slipped behind the dibbun and went to wrap his arms around her to try and pin her arms to her side. “Hello little hare how would you like boat ride, I know some toads who likes....gifts in order to pass through their lands and your do nicely."
Clawfang heard the scream and stands up, claws and teeth ready as he peeked pass a tree, upon seeing what was happening he hissed and backed up, they were not too far from some woodlanders he saw earlier, the only thing is with woodlanders was they saw him as a threat and he was sometimes, but today he was peeved, peeved at his now former boss as he decide to quit working for the wildcat and to show his displeasure of the wildcat by telling the enemy just what was going on.
The grandfather was overpowered fairly quickly, though he did manage to stab the rat in the neck and kill it with his craving knife, but the ferrets were still there, and still injuring him as he has a deep gash to his back, his side and a cut to the chin and ear.
Cora screamed and kicked as she was grabbed from behind, she went to bite one of Jedrick's paws “Let me go!!!"
Close by walking along the shoreline was Flint, he had a couple privates with him and a recruit that refused to go back to the mountain, so he let them tag along as he was to check to make sure toads were staying in the swamplands and not going onto the shorelines, so far he had not seen one toad, a couple sea gulls yes but no toads and the sea gulls left the hares alone. “Come on guys we can get back in time for lunch if we are lucky"
Clawfang looked around and then seen the group of hares, he normally keep his distance from those uniformed beasts, but today he decided not to, today he stepped out into view and slowly raised his paw and to the side widely held “Long eared ones, I do not seek trouble or pain today, I have info ones as yourself may be interested in if you would only listen to me" He had no weapons, well teeth and claws but that was all and he didn’t seem interested in using them at this time, he quietly waited on a reply.
Jedrick, meanwhile , has just got bitten by the dibbun and growled deeply as his paw started to bleed, his other paw went to his blade but only to use the handle to knock the child out. “Brat..." He muttered.
Upon seeing the lizard Flint stopped in his tracks and narrowed his eyes at Clawfang, he motioned for the two privates to stay with him and for the recruit to run back to the village, it was closer than the mountain as he spoke and kept an eye on the lizard" Wot kind of info would that be zur?"
Clawfang spoke carefully" My former boss, a wildcat named Jedrick has decided to cause trouble when he should of just quietly left the area, he has a badger cub captive that he calls his pet, his future weapon or something, and right now he attacked beasts randomly along the river bank, I am not for attacks unless it is cause I was attacked first. He plans to head upriver and then head to some place called Collenstin and...hide out"
The corporal listened and frowned, he nods "I believed you" He had seen a report about a wildcat ha captive but not too many details yet" I will look into it, you can let others know of this as that would be wise" He then heads off to try and locate where the beasts could be as they couldn't be too far from the coast...right?
Cora was a captive now, and ked out by the handle of the cat's blade.
Clawfang nods and slips off to head back to the nearby village a little ways down the shoreline by maybe an hour or two.
Jedrick snorts as he looks over at the two ferrets “Leave the older one, he won’t last long we need to get this one to the ship, maybe I can add some plans as it’s always good to have extra help on a ship and sometimes beasts like gifts to pass through some areas along this river." The two ferrets back away from the older hare and follow their boss back to the boat, the rat meanwhile is dead.
The grandfather hare groans as he is dropped to the ground, wounds that are deadly cover him and he has lost a lot of blood..."Cora...Cora....nooooo......" He fights the feeling of passing out as his granddaughter is taken away.
The long patrol hare, Flint , Corporal in the long patrol walks along carefully, "Stay alert got anything...." He then spots the hare lying on the ground and rushes over, he is not as skilled in first aid but he can clearly see that even if he was, the old hare wouldn’t hast too long "Zur...Zur can ya hear me wot?"
The old hare opens his eyes and they are a bit misted, "My....granddaughter, my....Cora.....they took her, please save her and...and promise to....to watch over her fer.....for..me..........." His voice so weak and weaker as he talks, taking his time to get what is important out, he barely does before his eyes close and he breaths his last.....
The corporal listens closely and nods "Of couse.....zur?" He takes a pulse and looks to the two privates and sadly shakes his head as he lays the old hare down slowly, and stands "A prober burial and then seems we have two beast to save from a wildcat and make sure this wildcat doesn’t get a chance to make beasts his slave ever again." He sighs as the 3 hares give the old hare a proper burial and say a few kind words before scanning the area and making a small campsite, it’s his duty after all to save beasts and he intends to do so and hopefully some extra help will come as well and if it doesn't, well that’s fine as well.
=elsewhere=
(No characters of mine was in this but I got this log as was important to post, as this goes on Jedrick and his 2 vermin friends and 2 captives-Cora and Xander- get further and further upriver)
Clawfang walks along the shoreline and scans the shore, nothing but a lot of sand, but at least the cold weather has not come just yet, maybe slightly cold at night but this is daytime hours we are speaking of.
They say canines were not built for sprinting, but for endurance. After a season of being a bouncer for a tavern this grey fox is hardly built for either. Rioko pauses in their search on the beach, leaning forward with her paws on her knees, taking a moment to catch her breath. The grey fox is wearing an odd assortment of jewelry, rings and gold bands about her tail. "I hope...you really...appreciate what I am doing for you..." She says through gasps.
Felicity, on the other paw, is perfectly fit, built for both sprinting and endurance, having kept up a strict exercise regime for basically her entire life. Turning, she looks at the vixen and refrains from making a sarcastic remark about the fox's weight. "I do! I appreciate you and all you're doin' for me, love. Do y'need a break?" Trying to be nice, here. Don't judge.
Clawfang looks up and sees...a hare in uniform and a fox, ok this is odd to him as he gets curious and then jogs over to them, slowing as he gets closer. He has no weapons, as well teeth and claw is weapon enough for him. "I say why a fox and a hare together for, tis seems odd....then again I work...make that use to work for a wildcat who says he wants no trouble then looks for it"
"Do I need a break? Yeah, I figure the universe is due to toss me a bone for all the trouble this town has- oh you mean do I need to rest? Yeah, I could do a rest." The fox replies, she catches sight of a lizard rapidly approaching and reaches for her glaive...then realizes that it is not with her...Why wasn't her trusted weapon with her!? "Felicity hon, we got company..." She says, gesturing for the hare to 'take care of this'.
Felicity rolls her eyes at the vixen's melodramatics and offers her a canteen of water. "'Ere," she says, then drops the canteen and turns around to look at the newcomer. "Oh, 'ello, there," She says politely, paw resting on her sword hilt in a relaxed manner. "Well, this lovely viexen 'ere knows more about 'Alyard than I do, so we came to an agreement for 'er to 'elp me try to find somebeast....oh, did you used to work for a wildcat? D'you mind my askin' why you quit?" Disarming smile and paws away from sword hilt. She's acting friendly and at ease, but she's ready to draw her weapon if needs be.
Clawfang keeps an eye on that sword and the hare's paw as he speaks, "Because I dislike trouble from woodlanders and the long patrol but Jedrick wants trouble so he gets bored and attacks some beasts along the shore, killed some old hare and kidnapped another. Thar was another hare said he look for him...had like 2 other hares with him some one eared hare....good grief you hares go all over don’t ya?"
"Oh man don't I know it." The fox says with outthinking as she takes the canteen. She pauses and an awkward silence ensues. She looks to Fel, then the lizard. "Wait...what?"
Felicity is suddenly serious, smile gone. "Wait, Jedrick?" Carefully keeping her paws away from her sword hilt, she stays calm and polite, ignoring the hare comment. "The one eared 'are; was he about this tall" gestures the correct height for her uncle Flint "and wearing a mark on 'is clothes like this?" She draws the marks for Corporal and Fighter in the sand. "Y'say Jedrick killed some beasts? 'E's the one we're lookin' for; 'e's enslaved a friend o' mine, and I'm tryin' to get 'im back."
Clawfang looks at the mark closely and nods "Yeah he had one of those....some leader or something?" Whatever to the lizard" Friend? Some hare dibbun?" He remembers seeing that before he slipped off or guessing the cat got the dibbun after all, “He was after it.......oh and he has some badger cub but none of the crew....two ferrets only now...were allowed ta talk to it, it was his pet...weapon or something....he makes the cub clean the deck and below deck, and practice different paw moves, keeps it locked up a lot too and it never goes above deck....I quit when he decided to not just go straight up river to some collinsel or...something or other"
The hare nods and listens to what is said.
Clawfang would stay but he needs lunch and luckily for the hare he spots a sea gull, “If you excuse me now......I have a dinner date" He then heads towards the sea gull, a quick sprint, slam to the ground he has his dinner...oh seems the sea gull IS DINNER..how nice and he clearly has few manors as he will just eat it where he is...yep
The fox just watches this odd display, cringing somewhat as she watches the lizard simply devour a bird after catching it. "Well...heh, don't stand between him and breakfast." She laughs, rubbing the back of her neck, "I have no idea where this...this Collin-vil place is. How, how do you want to handle this?"
All that information came so fast that Felicity had little time to react, but when the lizard starts devouring the bird she can finally turn away and look at the vixen. "I don't know where it is, either." She begins to pace agitatedly, intentionally avoiding having to look at the lizard. "We need to stop 'im before 'e can leave the area. It sounds like my Uncle is already on the case, but with only 2 others with 'im, 'e's gonna need all the 'elp 'e can get, wot!" Turning to the vixen, she smiles cheekily and says, "Well, love, looks like we get to go on a little adventure, wot! Let's buy some more provisions and get on our way!"
The fox leans back, ears fidgeting. She crosses her arms, looking like she is about to argue. Instead she replies with, "Ok. I can actually buy supplies for once." Then holds up a paw, "But on one condition. I want help moving my stash of gold to somewhere safe. I ain't leaving Halyard without knowing if some scamp is going to make off with my retirement fund."
Felicity thinks for a moment, then nods. "That sounds fair. Where is it?" Little does she know just how /big/ of a stash this is; she's gonna /freak/ if she sees the whole thing. "And that's just fine. You buy all your supplies and carry them yourself, and I shall do the same for my supplies. Now c'mon! The more time we waste, the more time Jedrick 'as to get away!"
The fox relaxes. She was steeling herself for a fight. Tail wagging the vixen gestures over her shoulder, "It's this way. It shouldn't take too long. It's not THAT big of a stash..." She lies...
It doesn't take long for Rioko to find her way to the cave again. She committed the path to heart. However, by the time the beasts reach the cave it is apparent that they are not alone.
Torches light up the dusk air along the entrance of the cave and paw tracks can be seen leading in and out of the cave to a small boat by the shore. When seeing this Rioko very nearly panics, clutching the sides of her head, "MAI LOOT!" If not stopped she looks like she is about to rush head long to the cave.
Felicity smiles and follows the vixen, happy that that whole thing worked out well. Finally! After weeks of searching and having to tell her superiors when she reported to them on her breaks from the field every few days that she had made almost no progress, finally, finally, she may just be able to tell them that she is in the process of rescuing Xander!! Hooray! (She hasn't told her superiors the identity of her informant. She's not stupid.) As they draw near the cave, she goes on he alert, and as the vixen panics, she swiftly goes to clamp the canid's mouth shut and drag her beyond a rock outcropping. "Hisst, be still! If we do this right, you won't lose a lot. Now shut your face!"
The vixen fights tooth and claw to be released from the beast's grasp. Rioko flails her arms and legs about, shouting muffled threats of death at the hare. As she is pulled back to safety a small parade of beasts can be seen in the distance, wheeling out gold and jewels on a push cart. Each seems to be dressed in jewelry similar to Rioko.
There are four of them, a couple of weasels, a ferret, and a potbellied pine marten with a crown over his head. They appear to be in pure jubilation at their find. And armed with cutlasses.
The vixen's eyes grow wide with anger, her flailing grow stronger and she threatens to tear away from Felicity. That was her loot. HER HARD EARNED LOOT! NO ONE STEALS FROM RIOKO!
Holy.....okay, plan B, which has existed since about 2.3 seconds ago. Felicity grabs a fair-sized rock, sticks it in the vixen's paw, and goes to shove her towards the burglars. "You're right, it'd be evah so much bettah if you attacked them now. Look! they're stealin' your money! Bash their 'eads in with this rock!" Meanwhile, she loads her sling and lobs the rock at the closest one, then stuffs her sling in a pocket, draws her sword, and prepares to charge...
A weasel lets out a cry of pain as he takes the blow to the side. The wagon falls to one side as the beasts drop it. The four thieves draw their swords. The ferret arms himself with something else however. A short pole arm with a blade affixed to the end. A glaive Rioko realizes. HER glaive. They DARE to use her weapon against her?
Rioko is by now foaming at the mouth with anger. Eyes wild the vixen lets out a terrible screech, flailing her arms into the air. She bolts past the hare, moving quickly on all fours. The ferret barely manages a yelp as he is tackled. "HELP! HELP!" He shouts as Rioko picks him up, tossing him onto the ground, repeatedly. And then begins to maul him in ways that are best left unsaid in even tavern stories. "WHY ISN"T ANYONE HELPING! GAAAAAAH! MY SPLEEN! WHY WON'T it STOoOOOOoP! AAAAAAAAAAAh!" The ferret screams amid sounds of crunching, tearing, and biting.
Completely distracted from the hare the other beasts can only stand and watch in horror as the ferret may or may not be strangled with his own tail...
Felicity charges forward, then slows and stares in abject horror at the vixen. "Uh...." she looks at the other burglars. "Um.....uh, if you, uh, don't want me, uh, letting 'er loose on you lot, I suggest you strip off everything' you've got on, drop all you're carryin', and, uh, surrender and sit where y'are..." If they haven't already from the horrific scene confronting them right now....nightmare material, anyone?
The beasts don't reply at first. They just continue to stare. "Y-yeah. That...that sounds like a good idea."
"No..." Comes the voice of the vixen, standing over her victim with her glaive in one paw. Rioko breaths deeply. "The only thing you steal from Rioko is DEATH!" And the fox proceeds to take a swing at the nearest weasel and battle ensues.
With one weasel occupied the other turns to Felicity, slashing at her with his cutlass. The pine marten also seems he would rather do battle with the hare than the fox. He lunges, trying to stab the hare in the side!
"RIOKO, YOU FLIPPIN' IDIOT!!" Lissie manages to dodge the first cutlass slash, but on the second one her tunic gets torn. "'Ey! No fair! I'm tryin' to 'elp you....Rioko, they were about to give up!" She blocks a swing and goes to stab at the pine marten, hoping to avoid killing him but kind of stuck in the position of having to defend herself from a bunch of lunatics. She kicks out at the weasel that attacked her, hoping to knock him out.
The fox lunges with her glaive, narrowly missing the weasel as he side steps her. He readies a swing with his cutlass towards the vixen's head and...
Just right then the second weasel steps into the hares view, blocking what transpires. When he side steps another blow the fox is laying on her side with the weasel standing over her. He turns his attention from the fox to the hare.
Narrowly dodging the hares thrust the pine marten takes a step back. Seeing the battle has shifted in their favor he grins deviously. "Help me finish her off! Then we are rich! RICH!" The three mustelids press in on the hare, slashing and stabbing with their weapons.
Welp, so much for mercy. Lissie sees the vixen laying on the ground, and her whole demeanor changes. Gone is the merciful, smiling hare maid who tries to not kill or fight unless it's necessary, and in her place is an angry, avenging Warrior. "EULALIAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" She leaps forward and kicks out at the pine marten (who seems to be the leader), then, slashing at one weasel, she whips around and goes to slice the other one!
The marten stumble backward as the weasels press in. One screams as a gash appears on his arm, causing him to double over and drop his sword. The second weasel, a creature of dexterity, easily leans out of range of the weapon, slashing down at the hare, gripping his sword in both paws and snarling at her.
Felicity gets slashed on the arm, but she's so mad, she doesn't really notice yet. Ducking under the weasel's sword, she goes to stab him in the gut and bite him on the nose at the same time. Rahr. That's what he deserves for beating up a tavern bouncer and threatening a Long Patrol member. Take that!
The weasel let's out a gasp as he is bit in the nose, shouting angrily until the sword runs him through the belly. A look of horror over comes the weasel as he collapses onto his knees, "I was...going to be...we-wealthy..." And he slides off of the blade and into the dark forest.
The second weasel twitches an eye. He reaches down, picking up his blade and yells loudly, charging the hare. He barely catches the sight of the glaive before it strikes him across the face. The weasel is dead before he even hits the ground.
"And that's what you get for knocking me across the head ya jerk." Rioko growls, bleeding from a wound to her head. "Or...was that the other one...blast it all." All the while the pine marten just stands there, knees shaking. "Umm..." He gulps. "Parlay?"
Felicity turns slowly and glares at the pine marten. Spitting blood and saliva at him, she growls, "Take off everythin' you're wearing, just like I said before y'idiots all started fightin', and then if you're not outta my sight before I count to 10, I'm comin' after you, and trust me, I can outrun you any flippin' day of the stinkin' week. Y'ken???" She's mad, don't argue with her.
The marten gulps, dropping his sword, "P-please. I'm just a humble marten who..."
"Humble my eye." Rioko quips. "Ye are a bleeding dead beat pirate. I know, I've seen you about the tavern. Now take off my gold before I take off yer HIDE." Rioko never saw a beast toss off jewelry so quickly. He throws the loot onto the ground before turning tail, flailing his arms as he runs away.
Rioko takes a sigh of relief, then panic fills her again, "My babies..." she dashes inside the cave. She can be found deep in the cave, kneeling over and over turned chest of gold, rubbing a large arm full of coins against her muzzle, "Oh, oh my precious. Don't worry. Rio is here to take care of you now." The cave itself is filled with treasure. It's not a horrible fortune, but for a beast like the fox? It's more than two or three years’ worth of tavern wages in the form of pearls, coins, and other cargo.
Felicity watches the marten run away, yelling out numbers as she counts up from one until he seems to be out of hearing range. Cleaning off her sword and sheathing it, she looks at what the burglars had already stowed in the boat, then turns, walks into the cave....and stops. And stares. Her mouth open, eyes wide, she looks around, then starts trying to talk; all that comes out is just stutters. She will explode in 5....4.....3....
Aware that she has an audience Rioko glances over her shoulder to the hare. She looks across the treasure trove then with complete innocence dares to ask, "What?"
....2....1. "YOU HAVE A FLIPPING TREASURE HOARD AND YOU'RE TRYING TO GET ME TO FREAKING PAY YOU?!??!!?!" Lissie demands shrilly, her hackles raised and fists clenched. "That's highway robbery, you barrel-bellied, lard-bottomed excuse for a weasel!!!!" She's twitching in a peculiar manner that would suggest an impending (and hopefully temporary) mental breakdown.
The fox flinches, "That...that was uncalled for." She then glances around the room, "Ok, yeah, I kind of had that one coming." The fox finds herself backing away from Felicity until her tail brushes another chest. "But let's just...just talk through this ok? N-no need to be angry, r-right?"
Felicity is way beyond angry. She starts to slowly stalk forward, eyes twitching as she fixes her gaze on the vixen's face. "No need to get angry?! You have a whole....you 'ave enough money to last you for quite a few seasons and you're still trying to get me to flippin' PAY YOU?! You're lucky I don't dump 'alf of it in the stinkin' OCEAN!!!" With that she knocks a pile of treasure over and glares at it. For a good few minutes which probably seem like FOREVER. She doesn't respond if the vixen talks to her, but should the vulpine try to leave, she /will/ find out why one should never mess with a Long Patrol member. Or any hare, for that matter. EVER.
The vixen gulps, she's known Fel for a while but she has never seen her so angry. And she did just kind of help kill a few beasts to help protect the vixens 'horde' of gold. Rioko's ears fall flat., lips quivering. "Ok, ok. It was a...wrong thing to do. I can see that now.
Andnotjustcausei'mafriadyou'regoingtowringmyneck." Rio rubs the back of her neck, "Listen. I don't...got family. I don't really have, friends either. I don't have a mountain of hares to fall back onto when things get tough. I just got...me. And when you learn to take care of just yourself you...forget about taking care of others. So...so I'm sorry..." she says weakly. "Ok?"
Felicity takes a few more minutes after the vixen's apology to calm down a little more, then she slowly turns to look the vixen dead in the eye. "Okay. I sha'n't pay you, but I will still put in a good word for you whenever possible." Sighing, she covers her face with a paw and slowly drags it down. "I'm sorry for insultin' you. I'll 'elp you carry to....wherever in the world you'll store it...for a price." A tiny smile on the hare's face and a slow wink lets the fox know she's basically just joking, and that all's forgiven. "And y'got me now, so we can look out for each othah as well as we can whenever we're around, okay ?" She's not racist like SOME Long Patrol members who think that the only good vermin is a dead one. Her parents raised her well.
And yet not well enough to avoid getting into business with a sleezy fox like Rioko. The vixen breaths a sigh of relief. "Thanks." She says. "I think it’s safe to say that we are prepared to travel to where ever this wild cat is going." She thinks for a moment then grins, "And we even got a free boat out this!"
Felicity looks back at the boat, then grins and chuckles. "Oh, yeah, we did, didn't we?" Well, they did die when she was barely old enough to join the Patrol, so she's allowed to not have that great of judgement and wisdom yet, right? "C'mon, let's get movin' this stuff. I'm supposed to report to my superiors tonight, and I'd like to do that as soon as possible. I'd like to report the good news about Xandah..." and so begins the epic track of stuffing the hoard of glittery objects wherever they belong....Lissie will report all the stuff about Xander and Jedrick as soon as she's done here. So hurry up!
-couple days later?-
Jedrick watched from the deck of the boat, the river was a bit calm so far today but the clouds and the wind was picking up a little, most likely a storm later. He snorted as he stood by 2 ferrets, "That bridge is 3 days away...maybe 4 with a small break, then I may head north some, I am not staying in Mossflower too long, it could cause...trouble"
"And here I thought you liked trouble" Said a voice, swimming by the boat was the lizard Clawfang "If you were smart you wouldn't even of come this way, then again guess you’re not as smart as you seem"
Jedrick narrows his eyes and draws his blade, one of the ferrets draws out a crossbow with a bolt in it, the other has a blade as the wildcat speaks "You are the foolish one for quitting on me, speak on how I shouldn't kill you and maybe your live. I -will- find out if you have earned me trouble"
Clawfang chuckles "Would you really cat?" He seems to find it funny, "Well I quit and care not what you do or don’t do Jedrick, nor if you are hunted down" He smirks "Your problem, not mine...and maybe it will give me a little fun as well, easy prey for lunch"
Jedrick stands there and his tail flicks one, it's then the bolt is fired towards the lizard, "Your right it's not a problem for you anymore......"
Clawfang gets a look of surprise and a gurgle escapes him when the bolt is in his chest, he then sort of gets a dazed look as death takes over and he soon sinks under the waters as it seems he will be lunch himself for whatever lives in the river Moss.
Jedrick watches as he finishes "For the dead have no problems to worry about" He nods to the ferrets "Let us go on, and keep an eye out for trouble, I have a badger to check on" And he heads down below deck.
It’s been a couple days and Flint had keep an eye on the boat with the wildcat on it since morning, with him was another hare who name was Jett, "Ok private, stay alert can't be a good thing they haven’t done much, just seems bit too easy to just..." There is a pause "Attack sur?" The corporal frowns "No...not yet." He does notice one thing, he was told there was 2 ferrets and he only sees one.
Alise was always one to not always listen, and so she followed the other two hares. Why? To maybe prove herself or the fact no one really allowed her to help, she never really had parents, they died when a stoat took over the abbey seasons ago so no one hare really was a parent figure, she was just the..in the way hare but somehow still managed to get in least some training. She had a healers bag with her, so at least she could be useful and they would have to see that, right?
Jedrick was alert, standing beside a ferret with a sword, the other was on the shoreline as the boat stopped for a break, and to do some scouting of their own. The ferret in question had a crossbow, with bolts as he had spotted the hares and keep a close eye on them, as well as the one that was falling behind.
Jett looked around "We could get closer sur and look into the small window, see wot we can see below deck sur, there is just the wildcat and one ferret so it be 2 against 2, even odds and we be the jolly long patrol"
The ferret with the crossbow slips behind some tall cattail weeds and aims his weapon at one of the hares, he seems to try and decide which one is more of a threat or looks more important....then fires a bolt that rarely misses since this ferret is a skilled assassin.
Alise grumbles as she walks along, "Great where ya lot be at, then again not like they jolly well know I am here." Her ears droop as she gets nervous, why is it suddenly so quiet, so errie, she gulps and starts to speed walk in hopes of finding the other two hares since she fell behind by a few yards and well, it’s time to show she followed them when she wasn't supposed to.
Flint sighs, " Private Jett...just cause thar be two of them and two of us means nothing, it's skill lad and timing." He then feels himself shoved as Jett saw the ferret, but just a brief moment, and only enough time to have a quick reaction before the bolt fired, as he shoved the Corporal sideways over a falled log, Jett feels the bolt enter his chest and then feels nothing as he slumps backwards, leaving a shocked Flint staring wide eyed at what just happen and quickly scanning the area as he stays behind the log and gets his own weapon ready, he chooses the longbow as it wouldn’t be wise to just draw a saber and look for an enemy with long distance weapons.
Jedrick sniffs the air and draws his twin blades, "We may have company, find Quickbolt , we need to get upriver" The other ferret nodded and went to shore quickly.
Alise finally catches up and freezes "Oh..oh wot in de barely well...J..Jett?..." She backs up and almost trips over a stray tree root.
Quickbolt cusses and then gets to the ship passing the other ferret "Come on.." Once to the ship he helps to get the ship going on upriver.
Flint glares at Alise and goes to pull her towards him, if he can and motions for her to be quiet when the ship starts to leave the shore and then looks to her "Lass..wot in de blazes...never mind we have a LONG talk later, we need to..."He looks at Jett and then kicks the tree beside him and looks ready to just bang his head to the tree over and over again, he takes a deep breath as part anger and part sadness come over him, "Come on lass and that not be a request, that be an order." They have to get out of sight, a life was loss he needs to deal with and its getting to be nightfall, he only knows the ship can only go upriver and at least that’s a positive, nothing else is right now. He can still try and follow that ship
Alise ears droop as she follows the corporal silently, she stays close, quiet and as alert as she can acting as a guard, things couldn’t get worse...right...wait a thunder clap and..yep pouring down rain , yes...yes it can get worse.
It had been a long night and just as long day. He had dealed with one death, he had to keep a good distance from the river, but now he ventures back slowly. The other thing was he didn’t know for sure where the river lead, but he did know he needed to have a chat with his new guest "So...your name, and why were ya following me and Jett for? The only other hare that would be with me I sent back to let higher ups know I was following a wildcat that had captives" He has yet to learn his own niece and oddly a vixen have been tracking the slaver cat as well. He watches the hare maid "Start talking lass" The area they are in is safe for talking.
Alise frowns and sighs "I..I’m sorry sur and the name is Alise Willowbrooks, my...my parents were in the Patrol when I was born....I also had an uncle but he quit cause my aunt...well didn’t want him to stay in after...well some things that happen when I was like a 1/2 season old. I didn’t mean ta follow ya, but I was curious and been thinking of joining up and well maybe I thought if..well....could show me skills I could join." She seems hopeful, but at the same time upset with herself for getting in trouble.
Flint sits on a log and folds his arms over his chest" So ya....picked ta follow on a dangerous mission, that’s not the way to show off skills and I should just tell ya ta march yourself back to where ever home is"
Alise ears droop "Please sur, I lived...well did, in Halyard with my aunt Alice and Uncle Dax but...."She looks down "They..died sur, a few weeks ago. My Uncle got a real bad cut to his leg, but never went to a healer or let my Aunt look at it till...well till it was too late, when he died she got depressed and died a few days later. I was on my own cause my parents died when I was 1/2 season old, I am little over 8 seasons now."
Flint listens and frowns, he grows quiet as he tries to think" I won’t tell ya to head back, sides, it’s too dangerous right now and I wouldn’t want ya caught or hurt, I would feel responsible fer it...so ya can stay with me." He then adds "BUT, ya listen ta me, and listening is one important rule of the long patrol." He looks at her " You have any skills? And my name is Flint , a Corporal in the Long Patrol"
Alise ears perk up, "Umm..I know some healing, I can use throwing daggers and I am pretty good at knowing what plants are good or bad, ya know how ta live off the land."
Flint nods, "Good skills ta have." He looks around and back to her, "So your parents were in the Long Patrol, but...died ya said? How do you know if you were 1/2 season old at the time.?"
Alise answers "My uncle told me, well he and my aunt when I was a couple seasons old, not how they died right away , that came later. It was during a time a place called Redwall was taken over by some horde and a stoat, they helped to get the abbey back into woodlander paws and a lot of hares died that day, including my parents...my uncle said my mother was helping as a healer and saw the vermin leader, a stoat...kill my father and then she in a rage attacked the stoat only to get killed also. My aunt was still at the mountain but my Uncle was there and knocked out, he quit the patrol and had a bad limp the rest of his life. I was placed in the care of my aunt and uncle in Halyard and grew up with them. Learned some healing, cooking and living off the land."
Flint hmmms "I know some of those events, read a little when I got back to Salamandastron from....welll had a not so good 3 seasons of my life, but it’s a lot better now. I also know what loss is as while I was ...missing in action my sister, her mate and an older child of thier's were killed on the coast, so I care for my 2 nieces now, one is in the patrol as a private and one is too young to be in the patrol for a few seasons yet." He glances around "I am unsure but if this is the river I think it is, we may be somewhat close ta Redwall, but I am unsure till we get to a bridge that would be upriver and may be where that wildcat is heading, but after that I am unsure where he would go, just know he needs stopped since he has 2 captives, from what seen thar is him and two ferrets, and the one ferret has long distance weapons so we need ta be extra careful lass"
Alise nods "I know to be careful sur and maybe we could find extra help that’s close by. There has to be a village nearby a river...right?"
Flint shrugs "Maybe, I do know he was heading upriver and he can only go so fast, then again we can only go so fast also and yes extra help would be good , if it’s found in time"
Alise says, "Well a village...settlement if they are friendly be good for supplies too, can't always have fish or watercress"
Flint chuckles "Well and yes supplies are pretty low, we are just lucky it isn’t cold yet or it be harder to fish or find much at all."
Alise glances around "Got to be something along the river that’s friendly. and we just will have to find it or them"
Flint says, "We are just lucky the toads from the swamp edge by the river are slowing due to temperature changes at night and mornings , they dislike even a little cold...we be careful though let’s go"
Alise says, "Couse" The hare maid then goes to follow him, not like the boat will be that far away." I am in agreement"
