*** Well Me, Rhonwen, and Zolomon were online....so did a roleplay. I spoof the rats, Rhonwen spoofs Private Renee and well...Zolomon and Slaw are themselves ***

Slaw decided to go to Halyard when he had some time off. It had been a while since he had been there, of course once there he changed his mind and took a short walk to an area just north of the seaside village.

Another hare out and about was Private Renee, she frowned as she looked around"You know we probably shouldn't even be this far from the mountain, isn't tar supposed to be like a snake or something?"

Slaw rolled his eyes"Snake? In this like cold weather that be so so so annoying. Besides we are allowed to have some time off and I did get the ok to go to the beach"He grinned"This is still the beach."

Renee frowned and then shrugged "I mean, I guess. the beach does go for miles...ok fine so wot do we do?"

A cloaked figure watches the two hares quietly, the cloak was thick and a sort of deep green with lighter greens and browns in places. A large hood to better hide his face, thick pads on the cloak. Over his back were a longbow, a simple one and a few arrows. The cloak was for sure made for the colder weather.It was hard to tell what creature this was.

Slaw chuckles,he spies a small sort of area where some water made a small pool, seashells and some clams were in the pool" This place is neat, wouldn't you say it was neat? We could maybe explore the cliffs south of Halyard even, that be fun and this place is fun too. It was behind a sort of rocky area on the shore, likely not the best area to be at nightfall.

Renee smiles now."You know a little fun be good for once"

Not too far from the two hares was also a group of sea rats, just about 4 of them and they spotted the two hares and clearly paned to try and rob them.

The cloaked figure had seen the 4 rats but didn't seem concerned with them,yes he watched Renee and Slaw also but not for the goal of robbing them.

Slaw nods as he gets some clams"We can make lunch, you like clam chowder...I like clam chowder and it's easy to make, ya just need clams and seasonings and my brother Cole is good at cooking,not so much me...oh well.And we are fine, the bossy officers are busy with the camp by Halayrd and the more bossy officers at the mountain are just annoying like do this chore and that chore and THAT is why I need like a serious break ya know."

Renee frowns"You talk too much sometimes Slaw and it's worse when your brother is with you,how about you be quiet.A day off means you relax."

The 4 rats go to get closer and watch the hares,one of the taller rats smirk "Should we visit a pair of longears?"

One of the other rats nods"Yeah...they be stupid to be out...all alone like dis,hee hee...or maybe we can like take them captive,de stripdog would pay a good ransom for a hare and this is two hares."

Quitely the cloaked figure comes up behind the rats and speaks "Or you would simply anger him, he dislikes that sort of thing."His voice was cold and calm as he speaks.

Slaw snorts "Then leave who needs you, I will be fine on my own.I am a fighter, a long patrol hare and I can fend for myself....and your a girl so likely you get in trouble and distress faster than I would. You be like crying and be like oh no help me and I would be like no way and then you get into trouble and I wouldn't cause like..I told ya so so thar and I can always say ya like lied and we didn't go that far and it was like your fault we got in trouble...so like...tahr."He hmmph."So like.....yeah go home"

Renne folded her arms over her chest"Wot ever Slaw...I am going back to the mountain,you can stay in get into trouble cause I am gonna tell an officer your being annoying and not listening to the fact we are not to go wandering off."The hare maid then walks off, indeed she will so be telling, well someone, about Slaw.

The 4 rats slowly turn to look at the tall cloaked figure.One rat smirks"You look rich?" Another rat grins"I say we see what ya have of value,or just take ya life instead...what ya say ta that?"

The cloaked figure chuckles, he then smirks under his cloak and fires an arrow into the rat's neck, if any try to jump him he will stab them with a broken blade he found.

Slaw shrugs"Wot ever...don't need...huh?" He turns when he hears the laughter and takes out his dirk to go see what is going on."Hallo?"

The tallest rat dies, another tries to pounce the figure, only to die with a blade to the chest, the other two look suddenly unsure what to even do and then see Slaw."Oh great...a long patrol hare now what"

The cloaked figure tilts their head and puts the longbow onto his back, he picks up a crossbow the main rat dropped before he died "I would  say your in trouble, but...ya already was in trouble before Private Slaw came to join us"

Slaw blinks"Wot....wait how do you know me name? Is this a joke or like someone trying ta freak me out as it not funny, and I know funny or....wait, wait..wait. your the snake, no wait waiit , can't be right..right?..snakes don't like have arms  and you have arms or at least think ya do...wait  wait wait your a NEW sort of snake....beast, err sea monster?"

The two rats are just as confused as the hare, "Yeah what are you?"

"Well tis clearly not a friend of the long ears"

The cloaked beast smirks"Your correct vermin, wow never seen that coming."He walks closer and suddenly goes to punch one of the rats, hard enough to kill.

Slaw frowns and bravely edges closer to the cloaked figure, whether that's wise or not.He then gasps and backs up a little"Your...wot happen to ya Zolomon like...whoa, your like...ya ear and thar is earrings but hey its like cool and its like neat and well not the shredded part of the ear but like the earring is and whoa.....a eye patch, hey I want an eye patch why cant I have an eye patch, whoa whoa whoa..your like banished your not supposed to even like be here on the shores, your supposed to like....ummm be somewhere besides here and I am so so so so gonna telll like Terrence and Greg and Varus and Felicity and oh oh his Lordship too I am so so so gonna tell him all abo----" His rambling is cut short as he has a stunned look on his face,a cross bolt in his throat and he falls forwards.....very much dead.

The lone rat backs up quickly "I...ummm, ya know what, I seen nothing...bye!"

Zolomon sighs, gets his new plain  longbow and fires it, deadly aim a s he gets the rat in the back and catches up to him looking down at him, "Guess I figured I shut the Private up...permitally, and I can't let you rush off, you seen too much...so sorry."He stabs the rat to finish it off, drops the crossbow by the other rat,that's guess what stabbed and dead now too, and walks up shore a little"Can't let anyone know I am here, no "A not so happy smile "Not yet, it's a surprise after all for dear Lt. Elbio."

LOG:

Ciocan is standing on the edge of the crater looking out to sea and idly stroking over an ingot of steel, testing it with his claws whilst he contemplates what to turn it into.

Elbio had indeed made a surprise visit, of course runners did see him like a couple days before he got to the mountain. He rested at the camp by Halyard but was fairly quiet, when asked what he was doing here he just said important news for Ciocan and assured the others Mossflower was fine. His daughter was with him, he left her at camp and made sure she also didn't say anything of what this..news was.The Lt. could update, likely curious hares, of the news after he talked to Ciocan,He took it very seriously that the news got directly to Ciocan's paw first.He was a little tired as he came upon the crater and glanced over at Ciocan.He sighs and walks over to the badger and speaks"Sur.."Then waits.    
   
Ciocan turns and looks at the Lt. and his small ears perk, "Elbio? What are you doing here? I trust all is well in Redwall?" he frowns, "I can only assume the abbot has sent you back so soon with something important."    
   
Elbio nods slowly as he speaks and pulls out a sealed scroll from the abbot, "Yes...some news sur." He holds out the scroll, the abbot's seal on it still showing the badger is the first to read it. The hare speaks more"And Redwall and Mossflower are fine sur, thar is no danger thar...but yes this is some..important news."    
   
Ciocan frowns and takes the scroll, he checks the abbot's seal and then cracks it gently and unscrolls it and sits on the edge of the mountain and starts to read. His frown deepens as he does so and shakes his head, "Well.... this is certainly news.... I see little that affects us other then he's become one of a very limited number of beasts in known history, banned from Redwall..."   
   
Elbio is unsure of what all was written in the scroll, he nods " It was important to know still sur and so far your the only one to know here in the mountain." He shakes his head and sighs"As to where he is, no clue."    
   
Ciocan rolls the scroll back up and tucks it into his tunic, "I don't think there is anything others need to know beyond the fact they are now a convicted murderer. Their exile from the Western shore shall stand for their life."    
   
Elbio nods"Lets hope thar is no other news that comes up."He then smiles "Thar is other news sur, my daughter Ciana wants to join the Long Patrol so she came along with me."    
   
Ciocan shakes his head, "Well that is not up to me, your daughter will have to apply and pass muster to become a recruit. If she does so she'll be a recruit for several seasons to prove she is worthy to become a Private. I am sure she will do great however."    
   
Elbio smiles,"I remember being a recruit...ha likely had a bit tougher time of it than most, took me a little longer to get to Private and got surprised at being an Ensign and, well now I am a LT."    
   
Ciocan says, "She might surprise you, just because she grew up in the abbey doesn't mean she will take longer to reach Private.""    
   
Elbio shrugs,he does smile"She does know some basics. And she knows some history as well and the importance of the Long Patrol."    
   
Ciocan says, "Well there is more then fighting and marching, history and learning is just as important as the physical aspect of being a recruit. Though the discipline may take some getting used to"    
   
Elbio nods"She has been fairly good at not getting into trouble at the abbey. Though she did almost get involved in some sort of plan to dump honey and feathers on the Frair..likely would of been very unwise."    
   
Ciocan says, "Well.... the things youngsters get up to when they are young should not be counted against anyone, we all do mischievious things when we are little.""    
   
Elbio nods, he then chuckles"Sometimes afterwards...I remember getting into trouble,right before...hmmm or was it right after..I became a Private. I had liked climbing cliffs and stuff and got in trouble for climbing the side of Salamandstron, I..wasn't in danger or least in my mind I wasn't but got in trouble for it."He chuckles again"When first seen the abbey,I climbed the south wall..it was that or deal with the swarm of rats at the time."    
   
Ciocan nods his head, "Well I am sure they did not mind you climbing inside, I read those reports," he stands back up and sighs, "It is rare to have a hare go so bad.... but alas there is not much we can do here."    
    
Elbio nods, a frown at the news he had to bring "Yeah, no idea wot went wrong...I mean a couple beasts tried to help him and he seemed to be doing ok and then he...well surprised everyone."    
   

Ciocan sighs and shakes his head and looks out at the ocean, "I cannot really say, sometimes a beast just... reacts to a situation in an unexpected way. I am sorry to hear it happened... he is lucky Chieftain Blisa let him live... if she had executed him I'd have been sad... but well... the village lays beyond our jurisdiction and I am not about to march to war because of Zolomon."    
   
Elbio nods"Thats understood. Ferravale is, from wot seen, a lot less rough than Halyard but it does have more vermin but also the vermin thar in Halyard respect the abbey and honor the peace treaty, yes they have their own laws and rules...but nothing thats way out of line. They even have a rabbit thats the recorder, and a mole that is working in the forge..an odd mole ,he speaks common and knows some other langages as well. I do if your concern keep an eye on Ferravale"   
   

Ciocan says, "I have no concerns about Ferravale," the badger said, "There is no need to keep an eye on it, they are fine and I trust their chief and the Abbot to work things out between them. Our duty is the Western Shores for the most part."
   
Elbio nods "And it seems the shores are doing well.I heard a little of Halyard still fixing things up since that horde attacked in late Spring or..when ever that was."    
   
Ciocan nods to Elbio, "Well take care getting back to the abbey when you leave Elbio, take a few days to spend tuime with your daughter, get them signed up as a recruit. I am sure the General or his staff can take care of it. For now I need to go do some work.

Elbio nods, a salute and he heads inside, he needs a nap and then he will check on his daughter.Maybe spending a few days on the shores will be good.

LOG:

Elbio was making good time, not resting too much as he knew the letter was important and he was glad when a sea otter helped shorten the trip by about 4 days on a raft. Course he didn't speak much to the otter, it was best to just be quiet and talk of hot root stew and some about Halyard.

Soon the seashore came up and the hare smiled "Come now Ciana, gonnna be thar soon"

Ciana waves goodbye to the sea otter and catches up to her father."The trip has been nice, no issues so that's good, right father?"

Elbio nods"True, it is... let's rest here just a moment, we can have brunch"He looked around and seemed pleased enough to sit down.

Ciana smiles and sits next to him,she then points "Look father you can see the mountain from here ...some of it anyway...can they see us?"

Elbio chuckles"Not just yet...here in the next day or so yes, it's about 3 days to the mountain from here. Remember" He looks at her"Just speak of your interest in joining,that is why you came along. Nothing else till I speak to Lord Ciocan and he decides how to present news"

Ciana frowns "Of Zolomon ya mean?"

Elbio nods "Yes of....of him."He shakes his head"No clue where he is now, nor do I care where he is."

Ciana nods,a small frown"Ok"She says quietly"You think the other hares will like me? Will Ciocan like me?"

Elbio smiles"I am sure they will Ciana, just remember your be a recruit...some may seem mean while they trail you and some are tougher than others, but they are not trying to be mean. Training is taken seriously and they want all hares to be prepared to fight when needed, and above all be brave"

Ciana smiles"I can be brave, your brave all de time"

Elbio shrugs"Well not all the time, and it's ok to be afraid...fear can keep you alive, it's also ok  to run from a fight if you have to, sometimes in a group one may need to run to get back up to help someone else."

Ciana listens closely and asks "Have, you ever ran before from anything?"

Elbio nods "Yes, I have, when I was a private I had to run from a creature when me and a couple others were in a dangerous situation. We all survived and stoped the evil we were against"

Ciana nods.She then eats her brunch and drinks some juice as she realxes a little while.

Elbio stands "Alright, let's get a bit further before sundown,then we can rest for the night."

Ciana salutes and follows him.

But

Little do the two hares know, they have been watched for the past day and a half. A cloaked figure watches them from their hiding place, a small telescope in paw that was borrowed.The figure chuckles slightly and puts the scope away."Go ahead and get to de Mountain, I can just wait till ya get back here...yes no need to chat with you....yet" The figure then heads further away and sort of northeast and upriver.

* This happens after the trail of Zolomon in Ferravale, which ICLY happen on 10-18-21 and Dorarose will be posting that log soon. I needed to go ahead and post this log as I am offline till November 1st. Then not like Elbio is doing much---welll walking to the mountain **

LOG:

Elbio helped make sure Abbot Benar, The Badger Mother, and the Champion got back safe and sound,then proceeded to sleep,getting up after breakfast time.A light breakfast and he headed to the Abbot's Quarters , knocked, and waited.

Benar looks up at the knock "Enter please"He says quietly, sounding as if he needs some serious rest.On his desk is a scroll with the seal of the Abbot of Redwall on it.

Elbio slips inside quietly and salutes the old squirrel "Sur, I was told you needed to see me.I have a good guess why you called me here."

Benar nods, "Yes, I couldn't sleep so went ahead and wrote up the letter for Lord Ciocan."He picks up the scroll and hands it to the hare "Now this goes directly into Lord Ciocan's paw, from you only.You are to go directly to him once you arrive at the mountain,talk to no one else till after Ciocan has this letter in paw, from your paw only.In fact I would just let the Badger Lord call a meeting after he reads the letter. If youy can leave this afternoon."

Elbio gets the letter and gives a short nod"Understood sur Luckly news isnt too fast to make it to the Western Shore usually and I can travel at a very good pace."

Benar nods, "Oh and one more thing, this is of course up to you. Someone wants to go to the mountain with you, but yu have the final ay so if they do...Ciana."

Elbio hmmms as he debates"Well, I did tell her I let her see if she be intrested and along the way she can learn wot  good Long Patrol march is like,though not with as heavy a pack..yet.That would come later and she of course be a recruit and she is of age to jion as a recruit now." He pauses to think and a small smile "I will take her with me"

Benar yawns and speaks"Just let Mother Krisha know before you go and also let Krisha know I am gonna take a couple days off. I seriously need some rest and after that I have a week before the Authumn Feast."

Elbio smiles "I am sure the feast will be wonderful Benar, it always is.Yes you get some rest and the abbot is always allowed a couple days off its...well not been the best past few days but thats the past now."

Benar manages a small smile,"Yes, yes it is .I do hope your not too upset with missing it"

Elbio shakes his head "No sur, getting this letter to his Lordship is more important that a feast."He salutes and then exits the room.He lets Krisha know the abbot is resting a couple of days, he gets some supplies for him and Ciana, and in mid-afternoon, he and his daughter start the journey towards Salamandstron.
